- Big Gold is almost always found on bedrock, and usually in crevices. The deeper the better. In this video I take @mbmmllcJason from Mount Baker Mining and Metals @mbmmllc to gold pan the Fraser river at one of my best bedrock claims. Great Gold and Great fun was had by all.

Yes the collabs with Jason mesh so well! I’m sure timing them is difficult but we as fans love them!!!!
Dan: The double stitched knee pockets of your trousers...Cut a piece of rubber floor padding, fold/compress and feed it in the bott vent...expand it out flat....built in knee pads.. I don't notice them while walking, but nice for kneeling...Try it! I can cut you some if you want..or sent you pic.s of how to! OHH YA...Pam washes my trousers with the pads in, no problem!
Most companies like Carhartt, Dakota, etc, actually make kneepad inserts for those styles of work pants.
That’ll be good for construction/flooring as well. 😊
Ir if you're looking for something that protects your pants I *highly* recommend arcteryx leaf kneepads, best pads I've ever worn
@@thecrowcook I built my own. Two thicknesses of leather, (7/8oz and 10/12oz) with 1/2" closed cell foam inside. Sooo much more comfortable than most commercially available ones.
I was shingle roofing when I married my first wife. she took bath towels cut up and folded abut four layers thick and sewed them into the area just below the knees of my Levi jeans. Could not see them from outside but man did they feel good for working without the straps of regular knee pads cutting into the back of the leg. As the jean material wore though she would sew a patch to the outside. Did not look fancy but got a lot more life out of them while still being as comfortable as anything else I had used. Working piecework I made a lot of money that way.
Every Fraser River video makes me wonder what is at the bottom of the riverbed.
Dead bodies
I love these videos where you and Jason collaborate. Especially when Jason takes the concentrates back and assays them.
You guys rock!
25:55 "Some people like listen to me talk" , you're right actually. Some UA-camr's have a very chill fun voice and you can listen to them talk about anything they're excited about cause it gives a happy vibe.
I mainly watch your channel be cause you don't just talk, you explain what your doing, what your looking for and why. That is very helpful information. So no you don't talk to much at all! and your voice is pleasant to listen to besides all the information you share. It's nice learning from you. Thank you Dan. ♥
You guys are a good match, must be fun. Jason is a great friend.
I love how we can see a pro go at it all day in a hot spot and see the value. It is like the expectations of a fantasy vs the reality of what is real.
Àaaaaaaa
I appreciate it when you stated the value of your finds for the day, adds content for me anyway, thanks Dan......
14:55 I agree with you, Dan: I love a 15 inch deep pan too - especially with ham and pineapple!
You know what makes this channel awesome? It’s Dan Hurd. He is just the coolest, funniest, educator and really inspires me to learn and enjoy prospecting. Thank Dan and Jason!
Thanks Dan and Jason... Got two for one today!!!
The best thing about these videos is not the gold, though that's pretty cool to have. The best thing about these videos is your enthusiasm, positive attitude, and the camaraderie between you and Jason. It was these things that earned you my subscription and keep me coming back. Thanks, Dan!
Thank you Dan for letting Jason in
You guy's are great together. You help each other so much. I watch Jason and you because of each other.... great videos both of you. Jason was in Africa ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😂😂😂😂😂
Canadians go to Bellingham Washington to get milk and Cheese , Americans come to British Columbia to get Gold
Yep, apparently Costco and Trader Joe's are the real treasure
That was good Dan and Jason looking for Au and finding it Nice!
Love seeing vids with Jason he's one of my favourites. Great video guys
❤❤❤ I was just a rooting for yall each and every pan. The most gold the better and no claim Jumpers 😅
Jason seems like such a good dude like you Dan. Every time I see him in other peoples videos he just seems so genuine.
The two of you were having too much fun…
lol… good for the soul
It’s not bad to have a hobby that gives you a little cash, joy, and the ability to produce great content. Keep it up Dan!
Such a fun video to watch!!! You 2 should do like a 5 day Pan a Thon there and see what comes of it!!!! Camp out and trade stories by the fire after each day of nuggets!!!
Hell ya, Im so happy to see a video with Jason. Even cooler hes doing river panning
Kool to see these 2 together. Both good channels.
Dan...nice seeing you out panning with a good friend
I love to hear you talking. We learn so much
Great buddy to find gold with like his sense of humor.
So glad the weather is warming up up there. Happy to see all the new content. Wont be missing one minute of it all.
It's awesome to see two legends together again. Love the video
new subscriber, found you thru viewers suggesting my content and I thank you for that. I have my favorite spots by oroville ca, great video, Gary
Dan: At the end of the day, I take the kids and slowly run a little water over the bedrock where we have been working...Surprising how much gold we find that way...
Hi Dan, this is Daniel. Was watching the video. Crevice full of gold. You looked so excited. Hope that will help you feel better. Good memories
Love the music choice, really builds the excitement!
Jason, always great to see y'all collaborations
Good to see you both. Have fun
I would think that the closer to the bottom of the river bed one gets, the more gold one would potentially be able to find.
Well a little bit of shiny a lot of shiny no matter what it's fun to do and gold is beautiful😂❤
Nice to see Jason‼️‼️‼️
Love your videos Dan, and they’re really inspiring me ! I live in Willow Alaska and i’ve been morbid obese for well over a decade.. 8 months ago I was 700 lb and bedridden. Since then I’ve lost 240 pounds and I’m walking again. I live in Alaska and used to prospect when I was a kid with my dad but haven’t since then, but now thanks to channels like yours I’m getting gold fever again and looking forward to getting back out in this beautiful state and hunt for gold again ! Thank you for your good nature and awesome content 😊
Appreciate the instructional aspect of your videos ! Haven’t panned yet but looking forward to trying at the nearest panning reserve soon
The bigger the boulders, the bigger the gold. The boulders generally get bigger as you go up the mountain.
YUP! It is worth the extra effort to drag a 5 foot pry bar/come along and straps with ya so you can get gravels from underneath boulders..
@@ericlichti1627 their is a reason the nuggets and boulders get bigger as you go up the mountain. It makes no sense if you are following modern geology’s theories
@@doctorofart When I dredged in the 70's We had a practice to dredge behind/around the boulders then winch/lever en out of the way.....The gold seamed to sift its way under... I recon the boulders form and eddy current during flood stage....... I miss those dredging days!
@@ericlichti1627 ahhhh, you are discovering the mystery. The gold wasn’t washed into place with water. Geology is wrong in that. In fact erosion and glaciers do relatively little, compared to what is thought.
Good to see you out on the Fraser having fun again Dan. While recently watching a spaghetti western one of their theme songs was The Ecstasy Of Gold ...that would be great music for a pan reveal.
yes sir fun with friends on the Frazier River thank you for sharing the adventure and information and experiences 😅😅😅
The tip about when you stop panning when you see the middle ridge popping out. Quite useful to amateur panners. At first you don't know how aggressive to be and when to do stuff properly.
Been watching since the beginning Dan..one day I'll get you to sign my Garret lol
I don't normally skip adverts on my favourite UA-camrs but it was over 1 and a half hours and that was just 1 of 2 . Good to see another Collab 😊
I was watching an Australian made video a few days ago in which they were using heavy machinery and metal detectors working on old timers gold mines. They were finding fist size pieces of gold, one of which was +/- 75 ounces. Just thought of that and hoping that someday you'll get such a large nugget on your Pickerton claim. I really enjoy and look forward to each one of your video's and also the one's with Jason.
Missed the premier by 20min this morning.
Great video, Dan & Jason!
Cool see jason finding nice flakes👍
we all love listening to you talk. imagine a silent gold panning video lol. Plus we learn a lot from you :)
9:01 Camera fainted after hearing amount of gold in pan :D
😂😂😂
I really enjoy your videos thank you so much!
Excellent video thank you for sharing this six stars
Nice! Beautiful surroundings
My 10 year old grandson in VT has a small river going through his back yard. It does flood from time to time. I know VT has some small bits of gold, so I got him a nice panning kit. He loves your videos and can't wait to try his luck this summer.
Always a pleasure watching your Videos Sir. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Awesome guys thanks for. sharing too cool 😎
Love your videos Dan. Going gold panning for the first time this summer on a road trip. Stopping at a recreational mining site in California
Good stuff Dan!!!
Well done dan , very interesting video , jason fairplay to you both , good video to watch 👍👍
❤ something about panning ❤ so relaxing ❤
Awsome video , watched Jason's video of this panning trip as well , good stuff
I like listening to you talk.
It looked like fun!
Nice job guys
Nice dan. And jason!!!!
Hey dan, maybe a dumb suggestion but how about making a long tube so you can reach out into the water and try sucking from random cracks/etc while standing on dry ground? Might take a bit of thinking on how to get enough vacuum power from a milwaukee battery setup or something but maybe something to try. Maybe a lift pump setup with foot valves internally then you could just pull and push to pump on it like a yaggi but you dont have to pull it out every time.
A little less talk and a lot more action Dan 😂😂😂, great time watching y'all !!
Wow this was amazing!
GO DAN!!! AND JASON!!!
The Canadian making a southern border joke gave me a good laugh. 😂
🤩Jason is good luck 😎
Another great outing!
Very interesting thank you for sharing
what a great couple of guys. love this team. throw brent in there once in awhile too for added fun :D
You should bring a 1” paint brush to brush out the crevices?
I’m loving these videos, love seeing the adventure 😉
Be safe Dan.❤
Dan the man back at it hell ya 🍻🍻
2:01 can see a giant flake poked by the stick!
I caught that as well.
You guys should do a friendly challenge game to see who could collect the most gold in their chosen spots lol that would be fun
Don’t even bother watching the video first, just thumbs up because you know it’s gonna be great.!!
DAN!! LOOK at 10:40 to 10:42 in this vid after you spilled your shovel material the second time there is a nugget on the ground. SPOT ON just like u described it would look like if u found one, being flat but with thickness, rounded by the river.
Am i crazy?? lol
Someone please look! It’s beautiful!!
In Granite Basin in California the creek ran over bedrock with shallow holes. In those holes I found 7 specimens that looked like cornflakes. This was in about 5 feet length of the river. Haven't been back yet.
Great video
Good job
Jason isn't "Stealing" Canadian Gold he's "Liberating" it 😉
Dan I want to leave a quick comment you and Paul are my two favorites
Good stuff
Theres placer in the creeks of your part of washinton similkameen skagit and most coming outvof the north in between them.
Thanks for the knowledge Dan!!
Can you please give a hint as to obtaining a "claim" ?
How does one learn how to lease a claim?
Hi Dan watching from the UK. Really enjoy watching your channel so interesting, educational and fun too. I have a geology question, just why is there so much gold in the Fraser river ? Maybe you could explain the geology and a bit of gold mining history too. Keep doing what your doing my friend it brings a lot of people a lot of pleasure to watch.
I would love to get down and do some panning with Dan. He regularly finds in a single pan the same amount of gold I find in a full day or prospecting.
Ok you got my subscription today
Great video! I was wondering if you go back to crevices that you have previously cleared after high waters have deposited more materials?!!
My uncle always panned for gold in Nomb, Alaska
Haven't really started my day, despite being up a couple of hours. But I get to watching videos and forget to eat or take meds. Yesterday I went out to a brewery and did a reunion of my high school. The whole school. There were probably 40 people tops. I mean, I'm 70 and I was probably the youngest person there... I'm in Texas and we had a cold front yesterday, the warmest it got was 71, and that was about mid-morning. It was a blowing 60 something, then the rain came. We had one hard cloud burst during the reunion, but we were in a covered area. When I drove home - a 30 mile trip - I did hit a couple of light rains. Then, about 9:30 the sky opened up. I was glad I was home. I brought the old dog (15) in.
Right now it is 60. I know, I hear you "But 60 isn't cold!" Lets remember in Texas we have already hit a low 90s! (I'll try to figure out the centigrade. 60 F =15 C 90 F =32 C)
awesome!
Great finds Dan! Have you ever thought about clipping together a half hour or so of just panning noises? Might be just the relaxing video some of us would watch over and over again.
23:52 - I know I should be looking at the gold you found...but I was wondering what type of rock that smooth blue stuff is? I mean the massive boulders. It's really nice looking stuff.
you should bring something that you can make a little reservoir to pan out of that is light so you don't have to go down to the water level
Hellllllloooooooooo Dan.. how are you and the Hurd herd these days ??? all well and happy I hope.
When you said the nugetts you've found are on the other side is that of the river or otherside of the rocks upstream? Thankyou for your vids
