As long as we”re talking about crossover content here, that Dark Toons episode Doug did with Phantom Strider made me think that he should do more Dark Toons where he collaborates with UA-camrs who have more experience with shows that Doug has little to no experience with to act as guides to him and provide perspective from a fan to compliment Doug’s outsider perspective! Like getting The Ink Tank to do a Dark Toons on one of the darker episodes of Ben 10 or RebelTaxi on an episode of a show he has a lot of experience with!
I really like this video! Brad’s long form content is always great. It was a good mix of interesting facts with good humor. I’d love to see another video like this.
I've known of the Cinema Snob for years, I remember only kind of liking the show... Now, I'm binging past episodes like it was my favorite UA-cam channel. This show has been at it a long time now, and I feel like what it was, was that I was still pretty young when I first watched anything, and now I'm grown up, and can handle a video longer than 5 minutes. Glory day, I suppose!
Fun Fact: 1:56 Jerry Lewis sprints runs up those stairs. That's in the movie and, this really happened, he did that in ONE TAKE, runs off screen, and collapsed because he had a heart attack!
You talk about these films as if you were actually there to see them in theaters. Your passion for film as a medium of art really shines in these long-form videos. I hope to see a video on almost every year!
Psycho, Magnificent Seven and The Apartment are my favourite films of 1960! It's great to see the Snob post directly to Channel Awesome, instead of his own channel.
I actually introduced my parents, who grew up in the '50s and '60s, and my Dad likes westerns, to The Magnificent Seven. I was home visiting, and on the western channel, we watched Gunsmoke. After Gunsmoke, The Magnificent Seven started showing, and I told Dad to leave it there, that this is a good movie. He had never seen it, and he thoroughly enjoyed it.
I love so many movies from this year-the Apartment, Midnight Lace, Psycho, and Portrait in Black-and I got introduced to plenty as usual. Thanks, Brad!
@@MandleRoss Village of Damned is great , ive got all 3 autographs : Sanders , Shelley & Gwynne , i met Shelley in Bham UK......Sanders died '72 & Gwynne in '76 , G also played con man lord Melbury on Fawlty Towers and Cleese also did a movie with Sanders
2019 in film is probably the peak, since it's going to be a while before the film industry goes back to pre Covid levels depending on if you count streaming service movies or not (which really is the same as made for TV movies used to be treated).
I actually caught "Heller in Pink Tights" on a late-night movie channel back 80s-wise. Freaking epic production with more damn costumes than I'd ever seen at once, pitchforked onto the actors almost faster than they can change.ridiculously over the top, but entertaining.
HITCHCOCK created Serial Killers? The earliest appearance of that topic in films was the Portugese movie "The Crimes Of Diogo Alves," made in 1909. "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari" technically was about serial murder, although that murderer was being controlled by another. The major one is Fritz Lang's "M," which I still consider one of the best films about a serial killer ever made. That was way back in 1931--one of the early talkies in the country, and the first film appearance of the timeless Peter Lorre. Interestingly, Lang wrote the part with Lorre in mind; he never even auditioned for the role. Don't know if that's flattering or Peter Lorre-level creepy.
Mr. Hitchcock would never disappoint. Here is one for "The Birds": ua-cam.com/video/lCxR7dlavwg/v-deo.html And "North by Northwest": ua-cam.com/video/tDMuPw33mQI/v-deo.html

Once your life returns to some level of normalcy. ;) Take care.
Two years in film in one year? Christmas did come early! Though I did do a double take seeing this in channel awesome instead of stoned gremlin, but I'm not complaining!
1:23:56 I went to Indiana University, still home of the Kinsey Institute. This film in many ways illustrates the Bible Belt reaction to people actually talking about sexuality as an aspect of human behavior; thank God we don't have prude Hypocrites trying to control school curriculum today... 😐
The original Little Shop of Horrors was actually fully shot in two days, interiors and exteriors, they actually had about two weeks, but the director shot it through the night to fulfill a bet,the script was already written but had to be cut up to fulfill the time cutdown, which is also the reason why the move just barely crests 1hr 10mins
I honestly think Brad and Doug work off eachother really well I hope they actually enjoy working with the other so we can enjoy future content together
What a wonderful surprise! Thank you for another awesome year in movies! These are always so fun and interesting. I end up writing a bunch down and looking them up so that I can watch ones I haven't seen.💖
Psycho may be one of the most ground-breaking films of the entire 60’s. With modern horror as we know it; we can definitely credit the shocking films of the 70’s (Texas Chainsaw, Exorcist, Jaws….) and the slasher films of the 80’s (Friday the 13th, Nightmare Elm Street….) But it was the beginning and near end of the 60’s (from Psycho to Night of the Living Dead) that I feel really broke the mold for modern horror!
I always remember Exodus mostly from the fact that on the 1950s Price Is Right, one of the prices was a role in Exodus and a vacation in Israel and the contestant actually won it. I can't remember which episode it was but it's on the Best Of Price Is Right DVD release.
I didn’t realize this was on the channel awesome page, I thought I was looking at a cinemasnob video on the stonedgremlinproductions page. I did like the video and wouldn’t mind seeing more.
1960 is definitely up there as one of cinema’s finest years for film. Psycho easily being the pinnacle of horror (Peeping Tom does deserve its due preceding that film)
"He introduced the world to the Twist, which means he was dead the whole time" Brad, I've been watching you for over a decade, and I think that's the most clever joke you've ever written.

Thanks Snob! Legs Diamond and Comanche Station are both directed by the great Budd Boetticher, and are great! In fact, Comanche Station has one of my favorite endings of any Western.

Snob is the one I’d trust to do these in depth year reviews. For those that haven’t seen them, the ones for 1980-82 are really good.

This and Tarantino's new book are two of the coolest showcases for classic movies I've seen recently. Keep these up, Brad, they're always so much fun.
