What helped In Praise of Pip to be so great was the fact that Jack Klugman and Bill Mumy clicked in real life and developed a father-son dynamic. Klugman also became friends with Mumy's father during the shooting. Klugman and Bill Mumy remained close friends until Klugman's death in 2012. In fact, it was Mumy who delivered eulogy at Klugman's funeral, honoring Klugman's specific wishes.
Yippee, I really antipate Walter's brilliantly concise "Twilight Zone" recaps every October, without fail, though it'll be bittersweet, as it's the last retrospective of the classic series.
I watch these recaps every year. They bring me back to watching these episodes with my late grandfather. Lessons in the human condition shared over black and white film reels and mild terror. I miss when these tales happened two towns over at any time in my imagination
I appreciate how Walter mentions the music conductor, if the composer didn't conduct his own music, because conductors of television and motion picture scores don't get the credit that they deserve. The final sound of the music is due to their direction, even if the composer is there to supervise the conductor's work. However, that is not always the case, and the conductor then has to really make sure that they are following the composer's wishes in the manuscript. Bernard Herrmann's Vertigo score is a prime example of this, and edits did have to be made in the manuscript without Herrmann's involvement. Anyway, thank you, Walter, for mentioning the music conductor.

I love you! I didn't know you were doing this retrospective. I grew up with this series, thanks to wich I discovered my favourite writer ever, Matheson. I was preparing a retrospective in italian, too and YT suggested me thia video. ❤
Another change that Season 4 brought, among others, was the fact that, apart from Albert Salmi, George Grizzard and couple of others, virtually all main roles in this season were played by new actors who never appeared on TZ previously. That brought fresh faces.
In his youth, before he became actor, Lee Marvin was actually a boxer so he knew very well how to act in the ring and how to move and everything which for sure helped his performance.
30 years after Nightmare at 20,000 Feet, William Shatner guest starred in sitcom 3rd Rock from the Sun, which starred John Litghow. When he arrives by plane and is asked by Lithgow's character how was his flight, he replied that he saw something on the wing of the plane, to which Lithgow's character replies that same thing happened to him before. This is an obvious reference to Shatner's appearance in this episode, but also to the 80s Twilight Zone movie, in which this episode was remade as a segment, starring John Lithgow in same role as Shatner in original. Therefore, technically, they both did experience seeing something on the wing of the plane.
Dana Andrews and Steve Forrest had quite a different career success, despite being brothers. Andrews was a big star in the 60s, having highely successful career in both movies and television. On the other hand, despite being generally considered more talented of the two, Forrest never reached those heights and was mostly known and more successful on television, despite his TV career never reaching his brother's success.

After cartoons it was either this or I love Lucy which to this day I can’t stand. So glad the show was excellent on top of being what’s on. Helped develop my love for sci-fi/fantasy genre.

In an eerie coincidence, a mere three months after the airing of The 30 Fathom Grave, the first of only two losses in US nuclear submarines during would occur. A structural failure would cause the USS Thresher to sink and implode during a training exercise. Obviously very different from the submarine in the Twilight Zone episode, but it's still kinda chilling to think about. How many people on the Thresher watched that episode when it aired and had no idea their own grave wouldn’t be that far off?
Love these twilight zone episodes I hope you continue with more horror twist shows I know it can be kiddish but maybe some goosebumps either way continue making the good content
Heaven scenes in Cavender is Coming used props and costumes originally made for 1959 TV show Deputy Seraph, which starred Marx Brothers. During production of the pilot, questions about Chico's very obvious health problems came up and pilot was never finished. This was brothers' final project before Chico's death in 1961. Even the plot of this episode - incompetent angel trying to help lost causes - was very similar to the plot of Deputy Seraph, with Cavender character playing same role as Chico' and Harpo's characters would be playing in Deputy Seraph.
