    Mindy! Love this video so much and information. Thank you. I am thinking about how my mother is only 72 but her dementia and memory loss was rapid and tragic for our family. I would argue that she spent most of her life living in the fight-flight part of her brain due to early trauma that led to low emotional resiliency/flexibility. Everything was stressful for her, sadly. It’s like she over-worked that part of her brain and didn’t access the prefrontal cortex enough. As her 34 year old daughter, brain health feels more important to me than ever. Thank you!

    Fantastic video Dr Mindy, you’ve pieced together information I’ve had floating around in my brain for a while especially regarding cortisol and weight loss. Haven’t been to doctor for 10+ years, no medication for 30 years, no chronic or autoimmune problems, can do 12hr shifts for weeks at a time no problems, 90% animal based, OMAD six days a week for 12 months(tractor driving job, just not hungry), I just cannot lose the last 15kg and I now think cortisol is the perpetrator. I also gave up alcohol a month ago and wow, mood, clarity, short term memory have improved and I see in the faint distance the old me coming back…but I think ADF may also come into play to lose the weight…

    Thanks to you I have been able to conquer both the 24 and 36 hour fast, but I haven't done 48 yet. I'm leaning in here to get some inspo. I did a few 24 hour fasts and one 36 hour fast after I was biopsied and diagnosed with VIN2 (precancer). At my last appointment she said it was resolved. She said the biopsy probably stimulated my immune system. I feel the fasting helped. I also lost 20 lbs since last October with regular Intermittent Fasting at 18:6 most days, and a few longer or shorter, and some days off (about 1x every 2 weeks).

    Yo Mindy, I haven't watched your channel in a while but remember it is great! I know it's more in the genre of health/wellness/medico-nutritional-advice, and not explicitly a "spiritual channel"... BUT, scrolling past and seeing the title for this one, I thought something like "every time Dr. Mindy does a 48 hour (or longer) fast and begins to experience the cognitive healing/renewal/improvement, she is merging more into the mind-of-God, cosmic mind, Christ, the Dao." On that note, I do hope that "Christ" is more than just a spirit/intelligence running through all life and creation, and actually is the coherent person/being/God that he is suggested to be, with "power" and promise (and intention) to handle/resolve transcendent issues of ever soul there ever was, and reunite all souls in their original health and opportunity for eternal growth together, beyond the veil of death, because loss sucks. As much as it can make extremely poignant the love an preciousness, it still sucks, and ultimate redemption/reunion/return-home in some form is VERY welcome 🙏

    • @DrMindyPelz

      The ashwagandha supplement should be taken for 6-8 weeks and then a monthly break. The body stimulated all the time with ashwagandha will not react as well to supplementation, as when taking breaks, which prevents getting used to the action of constant doses of withanolides on the body. 🙂

    I completed my first 30 day reset challenge strictly by your book and had NO weight loss at all. I started at 146.8 lbs and ended with the same (height is 5'5", age 37). I eat clean overall, cook at home using healthy ingredients. My glucose monitor shows that I am most likely metabolically healthy since my fasting range is 70-90 and post eating around 130-150 depending on the type of foods and returns to normal in 2 hours. I exercise 2-3 times a week- strength and dancing zumba and mostly stand at work. I have no thyroid issues and any health conditions. Blood work is normal. I am very frustrated at this point.

I gained back about half during a stressful year in 2022 even though i changed nothing in my eating pattern, just had stress and worse sleep. Im stuck here even when pristine in keto and keep a 6-7 hour eating window. I cant go lower because of medications i need to take with food Its very frustrating that what I did before isnt working now. Hello, I've often pondered about fasting. If during certain times of the month the fasting period is 13-15 hours, is the intention also to consume more energy during that time? For example, if I typically have 1-2 meals within about a 4-hour window, when I fast, what prevents me from having breakfast at 8 am and then dinner at 7 pm, thus having a 13-hour fasting period? Or is such an 11-hour break between meals on these non-fasting days also not a good idea?

    • @DrMindyPelz
      @DrMindyPelz  15 днів тому

      I'm sorry, I don't actually get your question. What do you mean is when hormone-building days? The goal is to get out of ketosis, and up your good carbs intake to build hormones.

    • @jennysiren6018
      @jennysiren6018 15 днів тому

      @@DrMindyPelz thanks for this, so the amount of energy doesn't really matter, as long as you're not in ketosis. So then it would probably make the most sense for the meal interval to be a maximum of 8 hours and of course more carbohydrates than normal. I'm mainly wondering if I can still only eat twice a day as long as I eat more carbohydrates or if I also need to get more calories. That is, the most important thing is not so much the amount of energy, but the fact that you are not in ketosis, which means that the body does not go into a too strong cleansing state.

      Hello there, We don't recommend fasting for nursing mothers or pregnant women, they need to consult with their medical provider first for their safety.
      Something to note for nursing mothers: if you detox, your body can secrete the toxins into your breast milk. Just something to consider. You can fast for 13 hours, but no longer than that. 🙂

    I started Intermittent fasting a week ago with my fasting window from 8pm - 12 or 1pm. I sometimes workout around noon so it works to break my fast after at 1pm ish. I want to know what to do however when I work out at 6 or 7am but my eating window doesn't start till noon. I strictly do weight-training with a bit of HIIT so I'm afraid of losing muscle. I learned of a study that researched this and said it didn't matter if you waited to eat hours after a workout, but I'm not convinced! Any insight? I posted this question on a much older video but I figured it might not be seen, so sorry for the double dose!

      Hi @tanyamaglio9593, thanks for your message. It's great to hear how you have incorporated fasting into your lifestyle! Regarding your question about fasting, weight training and preserving/building muscle, Dr. Mindy recommends varying your fasts. Perhaps on the days that you weight train you keep your fasting window shorter and break your fast with a high-protein meal after your workout (ideally within 30-40 minutes with at least 30 grams of protein). Of course, everyone is different and you'll have to experiment but I hope this helps give you some insight.

I stopped fasting the week before my period but them found it hard to get back into the grove after i started. I put back on the weight i had lost and more. I was breastfeeding a toddler so i couldn't do longer fasts. I really want to jump start my fasting and weight loss again. I am weaning my toddlers so i can be ready for a longer stretch. Would it be okay to do an every other day 36hr fast for the 10 days after i start my period or is that to extreme? I know you had mention a study where people did that for a month. I would only do it for the power phase from day 1-10.
