    I'm 42. I completely quit alcohol nearly 6 months ago, then i started dieting 5 months ago. I eat around 1000 calories a day, no refined carbs and fasting for different lengths of time. I only ever eat meat and veg or salad (natures food) in 5 months i have dropped 70lbs (5 stone). Ive got 30lbs to go but i feel like a completely new person. Watching Dr Mindy's video's has completely changed my life 😊

    I love salads, im always trying different salad recipes! My most favorite one is lettuce, brussel spouts, pear, shaved carrots, red beets, blueberries, with olive oil and little bit salt and pepper. (Cut everything in small pieces) SO good!

    My husband found Dr. Mindy November 2023. We decided to give fasting a try. I was about 15 lbs over my desired weight and struggling. I jumped right in. My first fast (not intentionally) ended up being 24 hours. To make a long story short. After making fasting a regular part of my existence I’ve dropped over 20lbs. I am continuing to figure out what is best for my body because it’s not just about the weight. I feel great. I’m now working to turn the belly fat into muscle.

      That’s so awesome! What was your starting weight? And what all did you do?
      Like, did you count calories/macros, what workouts? And what was your fasting routine?
      Sorry for the questions!

    I’m an avid backpacker, training to thru hike the Appalachian Trail next year. I eat healthier than most, but was still carrying an extra 50 lbs in body fat, despite hiking 15-20 miles six days a week with a 25lb backpack! Went to a doctor, dietician, nutritionist, naturalist, menopause specialist and a trainer without gaining any insight on my weight problem other than “limit calories to 1200 a day.” I recognize bad advice when I hear it, and kept searching. Started watching your videos and it turned out, the only thing interrupting me from fasting was the creamer in my coffee (bc I stop eating at 6 pm, can’t stomach breakfast until at least 9-10 a.m. and take Perfect Aminos supplements to protect lean muscle in the morning until I feel hungry). Today, I’ve lost most of my excess weight and am only 9 pounds away from my wedding day weight! Changes: removed coffee creamer, added liver support teas, swapped out antibiotic hand soaps, laundry detergent and shower products with far less toxic options, and removed 90% of foods with soy oil. I’m largely vegetarian, mildly pescatarian and hadn’t realized how much “healthy” vegetarian meatless grocery items were laden with soy oil! Oh yes, and I’m EATING MORE than ever before!!! THANK YOU! Finally an answer and SO EASY!

I'm only 10 mins in, and I like the switching of camera angles. I also like bullet points to help my visual learners. Keep doing what you're doing. I'm down 11 lbs from the start of fasting during Lent. You've helped expand my fasting practices. I plan on making it a lifestyle change.

    Favorite ingredient ❤ pickled avocado, many recipes out there, mine is modeled from guacamole flavor. This is awesome because no worries about leftovers, + you get vinegar and with added olive oil there is no need for dressing. 😊

    Hi Dr Mindy, thanks a lot for this video. I have read Fast Like a Girl and loved it. I have been doing fasting for years now, started in my 30s and I am now in my mid 40s. I did different lengths but sticked to the one 36h a week minimum which I found useful to regulate weight. I have found in the last 3 years that my weight oscillates, I've changed the diet to keto, tried several fasts but still show some stubborn subcutanean fat. I'd love to receive the Survival guide. Thanks

    Post Menopause and doing well thanks to you Dr Mindy. Read both of your books and have put most of the lifestyle things into action. In fact I have recently added a body pillow to my weighted blanket for sleep too! The one thing that makes me nervous though is the longer fasts. I would love to do a 72hr fast but keep talking myself out of it with excuses. Wish me luck cause I need extra courage.

    Leaning into hiit a little more made a big difference for me- I also IF by my cycle, eat a keto diet, making time for a lot of rest to lower cortisol, but a 20 min indoor bike ride (10 min medium intensity with the final 10 minutes with 5 20 second hiit bursts then recovery ) seemed to get the extra “padding “ down around my tummy hips and thighs ❤ love Dr Mindy 🙏🏼

    on the table I have a small basket with toppings and dressings for my salads. The basket has a variety of things: extra virgin olive oil, wine vinegar and apple vinegar, a pepper mix, a mix of seeds, ground flaxseed, paprika, ginger, turmeric powder, mustard seeds, a mix of pink salt with garlic. In addition to that in the refrigerator there are always different fresh herbs and olives to go adding something different each day along with the olive oil. That can give a different flavour to the EVOO every day

    If I don't have fresh fruit, I will substitute dried fruit (better than nothing - mixed berries, cherries, cranberries or craisans - yes I know full of sugar but it does help that sweet/salt combo). I like to add nuts (mainly walnuts or almonds). Love adding celery, yes mostly water but it is crunchy and mixes nicely with the nuts and fruit plus adds fiber. Like you mentioned any and all veggies I have in the house I throw some in. I agree with the protein (meat, eggs etc). I could live on salads. I've chased good sleep since I can remember (literally) even as a young person/pre-teen . I even worked with a sleep doctor for nearly a year and nothing has helped. I'll be 75 next month and I am still having sleep issues. I reached my weight goal months ago. Still would love to get rid of some of the belly fat.though. I continue to fast varying lengths etc. I know I need to add some exercise. That too shall come in time. I was always slim, only gained weight when doctors added lots of meds for migraines etc. Had a hysterectomy at 27 and we discovered my ovaries hardly ever worked. I did HRT until my mid 60's. Sorry for writing a book. LOL

    Hi Dr. Mindy! I’ve recently discovered your books and UA-cam channel which has been really eye opening and valuable for me in adjusting my life according to my cycle. I had a question about ovulation, I’m 27 years old and I’ve been tracking my cycle for years (no hormone birth control) and it’s usually quite irregular between 29-36 days (sometimes even as long as 38). So would my manifestation phase still fall during days 11-15 or would it be more towards 14 days or so before my next period? Would so appreciate your insight on this subject as I’m struggling to find the answer on my own.
    Thank you so much for everything you do for me and countless women around the world

    • @DrMindyPelz
      @DrMindyPelz  2 місяці тому +1

      Great question! Lean into your bodies wisdom and notice/keep track of signs of ovulation to help you learn when you ovulate. The decision on what to approach to guide you ultimately lies with you - you know your body best! This is why we always teach our team N of 1 and how crucial it is for you to trust your body and make choices that align with your own individual well-being. 💙

    Talking about salads made me think of this one I love: Quinoa, goats cheese and roasted beetroot.
    Roast the beetroot and dice into cubes (cooled), add cooked quinoa (cooled), spinach and rocket leaves, dressing: lemon juice, extra virgin OO & raw crushed garlic, salt and cracked pepper. Flaked roasted almonds or pine nuts, and crumbled goats cheese throughout. Delicious!

    For me, mostly red meat, water, eggs, seafood, animal fats and extended fasting finally broke a years long stall. I'm also weaning off sweet tastes by limiting keto-friendly sweeteners like stevia, monk fruit, allulose. Ditched all the fuss over fruits and veggies, too!

    Hi Dr. Mindy
    I‘m so glade I‘ve found your channel just ordered your book and listening to your podcast too!
    I‘m 32 years old and struggeling with my body. I’ve lost about 40 pounds in 7 years by eating 16:8 + sports but no variety of fasting…unfortunately i lowered my setpoint to 1200 calories per day where i stuck since 5 years… can you tell me a way to get my setpoint up so i can eat more and have fun practising fasting??
    (actually ending a 12 day keto fast)
    🙏🌸 thank you for your great work

    • @DrMindyPelz
      @DrMindyPelz  2 місяці тому

      Congratulations on your weight loss journey and for exploring different fasting methods! To raise your setpoint and enjoy fasting while eating more, consider incorporating periods of metabolic flexibility training, like cycling between different fasting protocols, prioritizing nutrient-dense foods, and focusing on building muscle through strength training. Keep up the fantastic work! 🌟

      Do you have recommendations on chewing gum during fasts?

    • @DrMindyPelz
      @DrMindyPelz  2 місяці тому +2

      It is not recommended. Chewing and the flavor will stimulate digestion. One of the benefits of fasting is to give the body a break from digestion. Chewing gum stimulates an increase in stomach acid. It tends to make you even hungrier. One option that is helpful and doesn't affect blood sugar is peppermint essential oil. It is great to combat fasting bad breath, due to detox.

    I have diasectis Recti and struggle bad. However, when i first started fasting i also did a "walk at home" exercise in the morning (during fasting phase) and a 5km jog every Saturday. My stomach went down. Never before have I seen it that way since before pregnancy 12 years ago. BUT, I stopped that exercise and it's gone big again, but not that much. Need to start those exercises again. No gym. No lifting. No crunches. Just the walk at home videos and the jog once a week !!!!

    Thank you for saying that Calories in calories out doesn't work. I never knew but once I started tracking my calories. I learned that I was eating less than 1000 calories, 800-900 a day and I was in starvation mode. So after 21 I started to gain a little when I did have a surplus on occasion. So much more than I will say here. But I do need advice from a medical doctor on how to correct years of under eating.
    Small frequent meals was the only thing that helped besides extreme exercise in my youth.

    I used to fast in my late thirties and early fourties, was healthy physically and mentally. Towards mid fourties I started gaining weight, not knowing why? I started experiencing mood swings, was very irritable, felt anxious. Was commenced on HRT. That helped a bit but when I came across Dr. Mindy the penny dropped for me. I understood finally that it's my hormones causing all the changes in my body physically and mentally. I started to fast like a girl since last January 11th (new moon) with the aim to reset my cycle. Ever since I dropped 1 size in my clothes, losing weight nicely. Not struggling with fasting anymore. While writing this comment I'm at my 6th day full on fasting, feeling great again. Thank you Dr Mindy with all my heart ❤❤❤

    I chop up a lot of the same things you mentioned, mix everything up together (except avacado) and store the mixture in ball canning jars with a tight lid. When ready for a salad, I pour the toppings for an individual salad on top of the greens and save the rest. The mixture stays fresh for over a week. Never had to throw any out as I was eating salads every day.
    I added avocado and anything else that spoiled quickly as the last ingredient.

      @DrMindyPelz  2 місяці тому +1

      Your method of prepping salad toppings in advance and storing them in jars is a great way to streamline meal preparation and ensure freshness, especially with the addition of avocado and other perishable ingredients at the end. It's an efficient way to enjoy salads daily without waste.
