    1. Blueberries - All berries are high in polyphenols and you really can’t go wrong with eating them. Blackberries, strawberries, raspberries, cranberries-they’re all polyphenol-rich foods.
A 2020 study found that anthocyanins increased stem cell growth and activity in the brain, improving cognition.
    2. Turmeric - Curcumin is one of the most potent anti-inflammatory compounds in the world. It shows extraordinary antioxidant activity, protecting your cells from free radicals that cause stress and accelerate aging.
    3. Coffee - Coffee is the number one source of polyphenols in most Western diets.
A 2018 study also found that coffee encourages development of stem cells that boost your immune system, likely because of all the polyphenols it has.
    4. Salmon - Wild-caught salmon is especially high in polyphenols called catechins.
Research shows that catechins are good for stem cells, as well as inflammation and gut health.
    5. Skipjack tuna - Skipjack tuna is a great way to get more polyphenols and omega-3s in your diet without breaking the bank!

Olives from a jar that’s in brine contain really good probiotics.
If u can get a few different kinds so ur getting different bacteria, not just one . Have both of u can, throw them in soup or sauce and blend them up if u don’t like the taste so much.

The healthiest blueberries are WILD (non-farmed) from Maine. They haven’t been bred for size and sweetness. Because they’re flash frozen at the source, they’re very fresh when bought in the freezer section of your grocery store.
Another DEEP PURPLE food that’s full of polyphenols is Purple Sweet Potatoes.
And yes, get WILD Alaskan salmon!!! All Atlantic salmon is farmed.

Very helpful video. Question...does it matter if you warm up the Blueberries? Will it change there nutrional value with regards to helping Stem Cell repair?

    • @DrMindyPelz
      @DrMindyPelz  Місяць тому +1

Warming up blueberries can slightly alter their nutritional profile, particularly by reducing some vitamin content, like vitamin C, which is sensitive to heat. However, the impact on the nutrients important for stem cell repair, like antioxidants, is generally minimal. Heating can actually increase the availability of some beneficial compounds. So, you can enjoy blueberries warm or cold without significant loss of their health benefits!

Question. Im still 295 5’10 metabolic resistance and slow oxidizer. Having trouble with getting and staying in ur ketosis ranges (ratio). Then I read 20 g of protein a day - I’m getting 80-100 in non fasting window.

    Dr. Mindy,
as a novice faster, can you please explain how fats, like olives, don’t break a fast?
Specifically, I am referring to fasting for fat burning; staying in fat burning mode. I specify this because it is my understanding the rules are a bit different depending on the type of fast you are doing (fat burning, autophagy, etc).
It’s confusing because I hear 2 different things:
    - I hear that calories break a fast. I hear that you want to stay below like 2-5 calories to remain in a fast (remain in fat burning mode)
    - I also hear raising insulin to a certain point breaks a fast and makes your body go from fat burning to fat storing.
So from my viewpoint, if you eat a few olives, they each have around 4 calories, and so does that not break a fast and take you out of fat-burning mode? Even 1 olive.
Or is staying in fat burning mode 99% about not raising insulin rather than anything to do with calories? In which case, olives despite having calories wouldn’t do anything because they don’t affect blood sugar? So you can eat like a handful of them and still be in fat burning mode even though you just consumed like 20 calories in fat from olives, ghee in your coffee, etc?
It’s just very confusing understanding at which point calories affects your fat burning fast.
I know I’m not the only one who hears mixed messages from the fasting community when it comes to calories breaking a fat burning fast.
I would greatly appreciate your insight.
