      Update....that actually didn't work out so well. The engine blew before I was able to take delivery. So the dealership refunded my down payment and I went and bought a Scion from an Toyota dealership instead. It doesn't have all the cool gizmos or the status, but it's way more comfortable inside, a lot more room and the factory sound system is legit!! Has a Camry engine and 8 speed transmission I can't complain about. Not to mention it was half the price of the Lexus. Also being in Hawaii, I don't have to worry about it since it's not a "luxury car" which get fkd up here by all the stupid people. There was recently an IS250 stollen from the airport parking garage and it was found completely trashed. Whoever did it totalled the car with a box cutter. Cut up whatever they couldn't steal. Smh. Anyway, so yeah, no Lexus for me this go around.

    It always seems to be the younger guys hating on these cars complaining that they are slow. They are plenty quick compared to many others. Why do you need to go that fast?
    It’s a mature car for mature drivers that appreciate luxury. Plenty of power, particularly for driving conditions in Australia.
    Yes the meting dash is annoying, but other than that, it’s a great car.

    Just recently bought a manual 250, the 350 not being available as a manual discouraged me from purchasing lol. It’s not going to win you any races but it’s enough for my daily driver. Absolutely beautiful car with some coilovers, lip, spoiler, rims etc. Been about 6 months since I bought it and I still smile every time I get in and out of it! Finding one of these for under $5-7k in good condition is such a good buy!

    I own a 2008 Lexus IS 250. I still love the design of the second generation of the IS line. Still looks modern even today. 120k miles as of July 2020. I was told this is low for a 2008? I only drive mine every now and then as I got a 2018 Toyota Corolla now I use as my daily driver and rideshare. I will say the Lexus is a good weekend/few days a week car. Lexus is a luxury Toyota so these things truly last. You can take it to 300k miles or more. My 2004 Toyota lasted to 400k. I have faith all Lexus’s can too.

      @@osanshouo1684 no mine doesn’t , but some have had this issue. I think it maybe how you drive too because I have a newer car I use as my daily driver. A 2018 simple Toyota Corolla. I drive my Lexus still but maybe the fact that I don’t drive fast or break super hard, I haven’t had issues with tires.

    So as an owner of one for 1.5+ years I can say there are few issues with this model. I have a lexus is250 2007. Water pump does need change from time to time, you can get aisin without toyota marking (they are the ones who provide to toyota) for cheaper. Then there are occasional problems with a generator (parts of it die out but that doesn't happen too often) and! if you buy this car at 2020+ do not get surprised by different noises in the saloon. You will get different noises here and there but you will hear them because of how good the overall insulation is in the car. There is also talk about the change of an oil in the automatic transmission, however I have not changed mine yet, so cannot comment on that. Fuel consumption is quite huge if you drive only in the city but you must keep in mind that this is NA engine. I am happy with my car? Yes, very. I know it is not as powerful as maybe even 325 bmw from same age, but when you are in this car behind the wheels it gives you enough comfort and joy. My best advice before purchasing this car: just get a test drive and see if this gilr is yours

    • @ChristianMastrile
      @ChristianMastrile  3 роки тому +1

      Great points here! Luckily i haven't ran into a majority of the issues yet (knock on wood) but always on the lookout for when they do come up. Test drive is huge! Not a lot of time but you'll know if its for you or not in that time span

    I have the exact same car except mine is manual and I have all the upgrades you discussed in the previous videos! Your right though it’s a very reliable car and the 350 would be a better starting point but at the price point for the 250 you can’t go wrong. The only thing is that on the 350 you can’t get a manual which is the only reason I never got it! I’d recommend getting some of the fsport sway bars and the rear chassis brace which makes a huge difference in the handling of the car. Great videos keep it up!👍🏽

Yes it is not the fastest car but for me it has enough power lol. It has been extremely reliable compared to an old nissan altima that I had. I put in around 10k miles now and no problems...at all. They are really reliable carbon buildup isn’t that much of a big deal as people make it you can easily clean it yourself and it’ll be a long time before it builds back up. Mine is at 240,000 miles with no issues. Only thing I had to replace was the alternator in the 3 years of owning it, just do your regular maintenance. Yes you can buy a 350 it’s faster! and the carbon buildup isn’t that bad but at the end of the day it’s a Toyota product they’re built to last!

    I am having the dreaded issue with the belt noises now too. I wonder, was this expensive to fix? Was it just the belt? Alternator and water pump also needed to be changed during the belt changes ? Because if it’s just the belt it’s not that expensive. Now if it was the belt and more than that, I assume you better have 2k or your screwed? Was this what you had to spend on fixing this particular issue ?

    • @ChristianMastrile
      @ChristianMastrile  4 роки тому +1

      Thankfully for mine, it was only the belt. Went to Lexus and paid about $50 for a brand new one. I wanted to change the belt first, as it was the easiest and cheapest fix, and see if any further issue arises after that and had none. Would def have some cash saved up just in case it's more than the belt

      It comes with a timing chain. Not a belt and as the carbon issue. Just rev it to redline every once in a while. There’s also a intake you can buy that reroutes air to atmosphere and that reduces carbon buildup. Also good oil and maintenance and the engine will last forever

      Any model really but for my taste, I'll go for the 06-09 year old Is250's. The look's on these Lexus's are timeless. Make sure if you buy the Lexus you're getting, mileage is decent, everything up to maintenance atleast and there's no oil links or sensor errors. Good luck

      IS250 for comfortable daily. Q50 if you want power. Not sure how reliable Q50 are but my IS250 has been pretty reliable the past 2.5 years

    Is it worth buying a 2013 Lexus IS awd for $14,000 with 98,000 miles?

      Mine was 110,000 miles 2012 AWD IS 250 and I’m doing payments so it’s gonna be like 17,000$ so that’s a good price tbh considering how everything went up

    250s aren't reliable. Imo I get a 350.

      For what reasons is it unreliable?

      the 2nd gen is 250 is rated in the top 7 cars for greatest reliability. But yes the 250 does have the carbon buildup cases
