I'll be totally honest with you as a petrolhead and engine builder hobbyist...the whole carbon buildup thing is a line used by service agents who don't really know how a motor works. And a money spinner. Yes carbon does build up in throttle bodies and exhausts , its NORMAL. In fact carbon buildup on pistons is a Lil bit of free power as it increases the compression ratio slightly. Do not ever spray those throttle body cleaners directly into a motor. All that gunk gets sucked in the and ends up in the piston bore and rings and screws with the octane enough to burn out lambda sensors. Leave the tb as is, Just clean out the sensors on the throttle body (remove them) , same goes for sparkplugs. Your motor will thank you in the long run.
@@NavsGarage unfortunately petrol v6's and v8's never sell very well here as fuel prices are so high (not just now.. always) and car tax you pay on them is so expensive
360 is not that much we drive V6 after all the fuel is expensive but so are the garages ..this thing drives forever with little maintanence can't beat that ..
Honestly right now under 6k for a car is hard unless you really want a beater. So it’s honestly whatever you can find. A decent Camry or something. Miata’s are around that price but not the most practical
How’s the shifting? I got a 2010 is 350 with 140k miles and I absolutely love it however I seem to slightly feel every shift. It’s not horrible but noticeable, especially the first few minutes of driving and shifting into 2nd.
@@NavsGarage well glad I’m not the only one, I can’t find many posts about. Just trying to figure out if it’s normal or not. I did change the fluid at 130k and it was very dark. I’ve put 23k miles on the car since purchase with a lot of city driving and it hasn’t gotten any worse, if anything a little bit better. I guess I should really stop worrying and just drive the car lol. Shifts are only really felt at like 15-30% throttle. Any more or less it seems fine. It’s very strange and annoying
Yes kinda. If using the paddles you usually have them you up shift when going faster. Downshifting when/ if you want to have more rpm to go faster. If that makes sense

@@NavsGarage the 3 series is very affordable to own my 320i cost me less than 130 euro per month and I live on Sweden. I do get why people want a more special car but a lexus is neither as reliable or as cheap to own as a German car
That’s not really true. Lexus cars usually you don’t have to do any work to other than oil and brakes eventually. But in America it costs us a lot of money to fix German cars. The market out here is much different
@@nooba2064 As someone who has worked on German cars, and a couple BMWs I can't tell you they are no where as close to being as reliable. If the statistics on Google and other car websites don't indicate anything, working on BMWs aren't fun to begin with. Vanos systems and other highly complicated parts are prone to break, not to mention BMWs factory oil interval us ridiculously high, leaving many of these cars prone faster wear, oil burn and leaks which they are famous for across the globe. Don't get me wrong, they are most probably going to drive better and be a much more enjoyable drive, but when it comes to maintaince and reliability, they don't compare. The 1 Million Mile lexus is famous for a reason, those Toyota V8s go forever
The IS250 is NOT the best car 100%...the 350 is the correct choice! The motor in the 250 is a carbon build up nightmare...its literally a fools errand to get the 250 over the 350!! Better motor, not much difference in mpg or money to upgrade to the 350. Look up the problems with the 250 vs 350; night and day difference.
There’s a big difference in money. Over 5k different that’s 50% of the car. Also where I live I looked for a 350 even right now I can’t find one available unless it’s newer. The is250 carbon build up isn’t that bad. There’s tons of these cars with over 200k miles so I mean it’s a great car for the money. I like your content sooooooo much bro
Keep it up
Thank you !!
@@NavsGarage omg
I got mine in a 6 speed!
Looking at this 09 is250 with 161,000 miles
I have one here in the UK they are quiet a rare sight. Most people went for the is220 Diesel over here
I don’t even think we got the diesel in America I’ve never heard of it. I could be wrong however.
I’m about to buy a 2010 IS 250 140k miles for 8k.
Good Deal?? Should I buy it??
Not a bad deal. As long as the car doesn't have issues and out want it go for it.
I got a 2008 is in green with 135,000 miles, vossen 19 inch concave wheels it is timeless luxury car
Fr
Oh shit, got an ‘08 250 in green also, such a rare color and imo the best looking one
What would u recommend as a first car for a 18 year old for daily commute to uni under 6k
Honestly right now under 6k for a car is hard unless you really want a beater. So it’s honestly whatever you can find. A decent Camry or something. Miata’s are around that price but not the most practical
@@NavsGarage alr thanks though
@@ProIronfistgamer for sure ik it’s hard in that price point right now it also depends what you want or need. Good luck !
Please tell what is the name of the wheels, it's actually looks great, and I love it..
There Avid wheels. Got them from fitment industry
How’s the shifting? I got a 2010 is 350 with 140k miles and I absolutely love it however I seem to slightly feel every shift. It’s not horrible but noticeable, especially the first few minutes of driving and shifting into 2nd.
Yah I know what you mean it doesn’t shift a little hard. I’m doing a trans oil change and I think that should fix my problem
@@NavsGarage well glad I’m not the only one, I can’t find many posts about. Just trying to figure out if it’s normal or not. I did change the fluid at 130k and it was very dark. Well overdue and was probably never changed in its lifetime. It seemed a little smoother afterwards but it wasn’t a huge difference.
Yah I think it’s a common thing for cars of this era. Mines only got 65k on it so I’ll see what happens. They should be done every 50k
I don’t feel the shifts,
You might need to shift in a better sweet spot, my 250 likes to be shifted around 3,000 RPM
Now I feel like taking mine out because I haven't used it in a while😝😝😝😝😝😝best thing about mine is its a manual from factory👌👌👌👌👌👌👌
That’s awesome I couldn’t find a manual when i was looking for mine
So when ur slowing down you down shift and press down on the brakes if needed and if your accelerating you up shift, is this correct? Great video btw!
Yes kinda. If using the paddles you usually have them you up shift when going faster. Downshifting when/ if you want to have more rpm to go faster. If that makes sense
@@NavsGarage so if I stay in a lower gear like 2 or 3 I can make more sound? Thanks
I mean yah. It’s hard to explain over text but yah
@@NavsGarage which car would you recommend as a first car and that’s reliable a Lexus is250 2015 or a Hyundai Sonata 2018 both auto
Nice car man. What are the wheel and tire specs on that car?
Honestly I’d have to double check. I got them off of fitment industry. They have a search by car thing. The ones I have are 17s I believe. And it’s all seasons cuz it’s a snow beater as well
i’m about to buy a lexus is250 for around 6.5k to 7k with 126k miles is that good ?
Yah honestly a really good deal depending on condition
I'm so sad it doesn't come in manual transmission!!!!
Yes it does
How’s the gas on this car. What type of gas do you add how far can you go with it
It’s recommended premium that’s one thing I addressed in the video where I went over thing you should know. It gets about 25-30mph
My is350 gets about 18 to 22. I do half city half highway
so my friend is trynna sell me a is250 and he told me there bluetooth is there a way u can get bluetooth in this car or u need a aux
It depends what year. So my car is a 07 and only has Bluetooth for phone calls. Later years have it for music as well
Looking at a 07 IS 250 guy wants 8k flat but the mileage is so high! 175k what do y’all think and for some reason the guy won’t budge in on lowering yet I want to get it for 6k or 7k the exterior is 10/10 and interior is 9/10 1 owner it looks almost brand new
Honestly lots of mileage. Just go in person and try to find some issues. Ask for service records and other things. Tell him you’ll give him like 6.6 and if you want to pay more then do other wise talk away there lots of them out there
@@NavsGarage okey thank you nav. It’s funny cause someone bought it for the full price he was selling it at $8.5k, just now I found the same exact year and mileage and the guy wants 6k I might be able to get it for 5.5k if I see anything that decreases the value I’ll keep y’all updated
UPDATE: the 07 was in bad condition Im not getting
2nd UPDATE: guy wants 8k flat clean 2010 is 250 187k miles what do y’all think
@@nominamagica802 Yah I know know the market on these cars but just compare it to others on the market
Did you get it?
Only downfall is the 200hp
Hell yess
Yessir
Please can you tell me?
Am i the only one who noticed his accent 0:45
NO 6peed manual? blasphemy!
You can get Bluetooth in this car. Directions are on UA-cam.
Bluetooth only for phone calls no music. I have the older one they updated it couple years later
Nice car love my is 250 08 3.1sec for 60 not bad for stock car not turbo 😏+ Turbo?? Interesting nice look ps 4gr fse engine 4(gr) gazoo racing💪 not joke, for car 2008 high tech just not detect car right or left same modern car for my (for bro remove plastic cover engine more sound more air cold
I like your rims
Thank you I just got some because the stocks were ruined
How tall are you?
I’m 6ft
a camry is better in every way lmfao. get a 350, the 250 is worthless.
Does a Camry have all those features for the same price. Nope. The 350 is hard to find and if you do find one over 5k more. So the 350 falls into a much more afford price.
It is a hidden treasure , dont do vidoes like that :)) I have one
But it might make it appreciate lol;)
i got a is250 for 1500
Damn if it’s running that’s a steal
@@NavsGarage yeah 2007 with 200k+
@@braylongiles1744 honestly that’s not too bad for the price
I can hear it cracks because of how cheaply made this Asian car is. Better buy a BMW 3 series for 10k
yes the dash crack but it’s fixable/ some were fixed under warranty mine wasn’t. But Thing about this. My friend has a 3 series and his car is much more expensive to maintain with parts and services. If you have the extra money for repairs yah go for It. I have extra money for my bmw but it’s nice having a not super needy car
The 1 Million Mile lexus is famous for a reason, those Toyota V8s go forever
i see bmw on the side of the road always.
Obviously the 350 is better but again can’t find it especially for the price
@@NavsGarage I agree. I was looking at IS350’s but they are crazy expensive and super hard to find. I ended up with an 06 GS300 AWD ($6,500) for a daily since I live up north, and it also has direct injection, but if you’re not totally clueless you can do the carbon cleaning yourself pretty easily. Just takes time to do it right and not break any connectors etc.
@@shiberino8413 yup exactly. I have the awd 250. And if I ever do have any carbon build up it’s not a huge deal to clean it. I’ll definitely make a video on cleaning my throttle body.
The carbon buildup on a Lexus IS250 is not a life sentence. Compared too other cars with direct injection.. the motor is still reliable as a Camry .. .!!!!
