Hi, I am from UK and am hooked to your videos, roads are smaller and congested in UK, and traffic moves not higher than 70 miles here unlike USA. How about same 2008 to 2012 Lexus IS200D or IS220d Toyota 2AD-FHV 4-inline D4D engines. What would you recommend them against V6 gasoline engines? I mostly drive short drive with in a town, and only 2, to 3 150+ miles journeys a year. Would appreciate some advise as I am searching a used Lexus after watching your videos as cheap as possible.

@Jay From LV $4,000 for an '06-08 IS 250 with 180k Miles is really really good. But before you buy it, and the same with any car that has kinda high mileage, make sure that it has had good service history, or if you're buying from a private seller verify with them that they have changed the oil and done the right service. It doesn't have to have a perfect carfax, but it does need to have a good one for 180k miles. Lexus cars will most likely go on to 340k + especially if it's had everything done that it's needed. Like I said though $4k is a really really good deal for one. If you go test drive it and it runs good, if it were me I would be tempted to buy it. I'm looking for a second car right now, I'm 17 and I just sold my '07 Civic Coupe and I'm really really looking into 2006-2012 IS's for the reliability and sportiness of them!!

Yes, you simply cannot find better all around value for your money than that which Lexus offers. You can find a faster car. You can find a more prestigious badge. You can find one with better fuel economy. Sure. NOTWITHSTANDING, when it is snowing outside and you need to make that 2-hour drive to pick up someone you love at the airport, you want to know you are in a comfortable and luxurious welcome vehicle that will get you home. Every time. It's also nice knowing that if you ever want to sell the vehicle you won't have your head handed to you by the depreciation goblins. Lexus is simply the king of reliability, resale and overall value. I have a buddy with a 5 series and the thing is CRAZY fast but the speed limit in town is 50 km per hr. LOL! What is the point of the repair pain and insurance? Get a Lexus, baby!

    As a Lexus IS250 - 2015 owner. I approve.
I previously had an issue with the A\C, where it blows a cool air in one side and a hot air from the other side. Not to mention that the air blow was weaker in one side than the other too.
The issue can be fixed in a professional workshops for maybe 200$ with no guarantees, but I had trust issues.
The car was clearly out of the warranty, as it ended in 2018 and the car mileage was at the time (2020) 121k miles.
However, Lexus dealer in Saudi Arabia was completely cooperative and offered to change the whole A\C unit for free (after I convinced them that the error came with the car from the factory).
The A\C unit change with labor fees in the dealership costs approximately 2400$.
This story is one among many free services that the Lexus dealer offered me for free; after the warranty ended.

I've been researching to find a sporty & reliable convertible and have come to the realization that the IS250 convertible seems like the perfect car for my needs. A lot of aftermarket mods for these available. And Scottys video here has helped give me a nudge towards the Lexus. 👍

Listening to Scotty talk about how well Lexus is made such as timing chains on thier 2GR V6 was the thing that sold me on buying a '10 Lexus IS350. Coming from a previous AMG owner I can say the Lexus IS350 driving experience has exceeded my expectations I got a fantastic deal on a low milage one. I have peace of mind knowing the ownership experience will be a good one given how well Lexus treat customers and that parts are very easy to find where I live. I used to drive Mercedes and BMW in Germany and wanted to buy an Audi a few years back. Then I saw Scotty's reviews and channels and I bought my 07' Lexus IS 250 with 172,000 miles on it, not deterred by the mileage, because of his rundown about Lexus' engines and built.
It's my daily driver for my photography business in New York City (5 boros, Jersey and Long Island) and it runs... and runs and runs.
I drive it only in ECT Power and when I get on a highway, I always switch to S mode and use the paddle shifters. It is sooo much fun, fast and quick responding, it's great!
When I read all the reviews on UA-cam and the guys that complain "how sluggish the 250 is and that the paddle shifters don't do a thing, I have to shake my head about those people that don't know how to drive the car!

The 350 is worth it, the 250 is much much slower. And the dealer did not replace my leather, because I missed their deadline. The is250 only has direct injection, so carbon buildup is a huge problem unlike the 350 which has port injection as well.

    • @enacku
      @enacku 3 роки тому +7

@@the_dietcam Its not about the gas, the point you're missing. The direct injection engines don't spray the gasoline in to the intake valves which lubes and cleans them, it sends it directly in to the combustion chamber. So all the exhaust gases that are sent back in to the intake to balance the engine air pressure, start to build up on the top of the valves . Google the wrx 2.0 direct inject build up issues, you bet they are using the best fuel too.

I got a Lexus 2010 gs350 AWD 3.5 liter that I bought in 2017 for a grand total out the door of $17,000. It had 80,000 miles on it when we got it. It now has 130,000 miles on it and I have to say it has been the best car we have ever owned. I live in the northeast and it drives like a tank in the snow. It is the smoothest and most comfortable/powerful car we ever had. I’ll never get rid of it. My wife gets so many compliments on it all the time. It also has the mark levinston sound system in it that sounds great. Scotty did a review on my car (same color too) but it was rear wheel drive. He said the car could easily go over 400,000 miles on the original motor and transmission. I’m hoping he’s right. We’ve always been Nissan owners and had pathfinder’s. I drove far for work 1 hr 45 min one way and had to sell my pathfinder back in 08 due to gas prices. I had bought a used Nissan maxima that was an 05 back in 08 with 38,000 miles on it. I ended up putting over 220,000 miles on that car. I had to replace the transmission at 154,000 miles but I usually flew in that car and only ran full synthetic oil for the life of the car. At 220,000 miles the tranny started slipping again and it started blowing heavy white smoke plus the wheel bearings were going so it was time to get rid of it which I hated to cuz the body was immaculate. That’s when I traded it in on the Lexus. Three years before this in 2014 I found my dream car that I still have to this day. A 2011 Nissan maxima sv technology package with dual moon roofs. It had just came into the dealer with only 9900 miles on it. Fully loaded, pearl white with black leather interior. I only have 73,000 miles on it now and barely run it since I retired a few years ago. I will never get rid of it. It is very fast as well but I baby it. If I would have kept working I would have lost both of these cars due to the long drive. I would have had to get 2 more and been backed up on payments upside down owing a lot. At least these are both paid off. I’ve never bought a new car in my life and probably never will. I am very satisfied and content with what I have and my wife is as well. It’s nice to have extra money to do things with not just shelling everything out on car payments. I just thank God for the position I’m in today. You can find a nice older Lexus that has some miles that are reasonably priced that will last you many years because these cars are overbuilt in my opinion and will last you many long years. It was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made purchasing my Lexus. The ride is amazing and so comfortable and they hold their resale value. Take it from me , I know you don’t know me but you will not regret buying a used Lexus (if you can find one). They sell very quickly. Good luck and God bless. Thank you for listening to my story

My daughter got a 2002 Lexus e300 with 110,000 miles. The owner had kept a perfect record of every service since 2002. The second owner only had it a short time and put only 2,000 miles on it...he liked his truck better. It is in perfect condition.

I love my 2007 Lexus IS250 RWD and I love Lexus customer service. At 60,000 miles they replaced all six pistons due to carbon build up, at 90,000 miles they replaced my passenger side header due to carbon build up, and at 118,000 miles they replaced my transmission due to one of the solenoids is not working. Also, they replaced new dash board, all four doors panels, and dash cluster all for free. I am a Lexus customer for life :)

I was looking to purchase a luxury sport sedan vehicle and after watching this video i went to a dealership that had a 2008 Lexus iS250 AWD with 113500 silver ... It has been over 1 month and i love this car ,just did a synthetic oil change and premium gas ,i get 28 MPG highway,22 in the city, drives smooth and fast enough for what i need it ,awesome car .

  • @waifuracer6516

is250 is probably the perfect first car.
Fast enough but not dangerously fast and handles well.
    Safe.
    Luxurious but reliable.
    Cheap to run and buy.
Available as manual if you wish so, to make it even more fun, AT is really good, but sadly the padle shifters dont actually shift.
Only real issue it has (well et least here in europe, dont know if US 250s are different) that the valves do carbon up due to being GDI so it needs cleaning every like 30 or 50k miles, but it isnt too bad. Interestingly enough lexus only fixed this in the ISF which gets both port and direct injection. Dont know why they didnt revise the 250 and 350

I have an 09 is250 with a 6 speed manual and I love it.. it’s lowered, straight piped. 18” rims, tinted out and I put all LED lights outside and inside.. sure it’s not a speed demon, but I’ve owned it for a year now and I’ve only had to replace the brakes.. phenomenal car and I get lots of compliments. My only complaint is the rev hang.. a lightweight flywheel will fix that issue.
