Have you seen the story about a guy in Taiwan who helped stop an attacker with a knife on a train? When they asked him why he risked his life like that his answer was, “It’s what Himmel the Hero would’ve done.” He deeds are changing the world.
This is WAY MORE than just a dude in Taiwan, lol. Apparently it's becoming like a huge trend in japan. There's kids doing homework because of himmel too, lol.
Realize Serie's level of power. As Fern pointed out, there's fluctuation which means that MASSIVE amount of mana is Serie SUPPRESSING it. So suppressed Serie is like unsuppressed Frieren. Which means if she suppresses at the same 1/10 rate as Frieren, means Serie is at least 10x as powerful.
Serie was complimenting Lernen, basically saying he can compete with Frieren despite living not even 1/10th as long. She is not disappointed in him as a person - to the contrary - but with the limitations imposed upon him by his lifespan. It's a frustration with the clash of her ideal world vs. reality, where a similarly talented person like Frieren wastes eternity on hippie BS while Lernen tries so hard but ... there's ultimately only so much you can achieve in 80-120ish years. Her true disappointment is Frieren, not the humans.
I did not get that either, ty "Wastes" could be lil harsh though, as the show makes an example/explains why her way of being was how the Demon King could be defeated.
Ali!!! You are the most observant and intuitive reactor I've seen. You pick up on things like Serie and flowers, or the "see you later" so well, but it never lessens the emotional impact of what you are watching. This series has been so much fun to follow along with you, I love the joy and emotions you've experienced in this season. I can't wait for Season 2. Keep being awesome! (I know you will)
So true. And that call with Denken and his resemblance to Stark. I had seen this anime so many times already and only this time did I notice that when she pointed it out
The emotional intellegence in your reactions and how much you are able to take a step back, compose yourself, and analyze the situation and explain your feelings are unparalleled. I am so happy you decided to share your journey with us, this is my favorite show of all time and you made it even better for me. Thank you so much.
Thank you so much, means a lot to me. If I don’t step back and breathe I’ll never be able to talk past the tears HAHA. I’m so glad you enjoyed this journey with me, and I hope you can enjoy other ones. 💗
@@AliAnimus Serie seek spark of ambition in her students (for example - she did not like Flamme dream, but she like her passion about it). Frieren lack of such ambition - this is why she would never realise her true potential and meet Serie expectations about her . Also - dont forget, Serie is +\- 10k years old demigod which is influence on how she communicate with people . P.s. Serie hiding her mana just like Frieren. But her hidden lvl og mana is equal to Frieren full manapool
@@AliAnimus also about Serie prohibition to enter Magic association for 1000 years - it has it practical use. Frieren herself does not need First Class title, BUT her potential presence on next exam, could ruin such exam and alow weak mages like Kanne, Lawine to pass (which is dangerous for examinees )
The moment she showed Himmel that spell, he fell completely head over heels for her and literally loved her until his dying breath. That's some pure, true and tragic love right there. I thought it was interesting how he was referring to her as if she was a completely different person until that moment.
I love the subtle details and call backs in this anime. If you recall back in episode 2, when she does the field of flowers spell, Eisen and Heiter look amazed. But Himmel just has a small, nostalgic smile on his face, because as we learn now, it’s a spell he has seen her do before. It’s the details like that, that make this anime such a joy to rewatch.
The relativity of age is such a recurring theme. Denken calls Richter a youngster, while Lawine called him an old man in a previous episode. Frieren has referred to Sein as both an adult and a child. Heiter talked about how he never grew up mentally, no matter how old he looks. And of course you have Kraft calling Frieren young, and Serie clearly also being way older than Frieren.
Serie's coldness, and Frieren's, is due to their long lifespan. Elves live thousands of years, so ten, twenty, or even a hundred years mean nothing to them. Human relationships don't have much meaning either, because of how brief they tend to be. But what Frieren learned after Himmel's passing is that a relationship, even a brief one, does carry value and meaning. Serie hasn't learned that yet. Subconsciously, she still feels for her students and remembers them, but she hasn't learned to acknowledge the value in those "brief" relationships yet.
Meh, i feel like Serie actually understand the value and meaning, she's just dont show it. Continental Magic Association is Flamme wish, while at first she's literally digusted by the idea, she done it anyway. She called the flower spell foolish and useless, she still uses them. I think she act like that to distance herself, so she dont get hurt all that much and thats why she's pretty rude, have you notice she talk shit abt everyone yet do their wishes, remember all of them, the way she talk to Lernen is rude yes, but she's also point out he cant see Serie fluctuation but sorta in endearing way ? you know not "ew,he still cant see that im supressing my mana, useless ass human" so..a tsundere (extreme level)
@@gethina-come7885 Serie is one of the most well written mature tsundere in anime history. Serie is like Frierens disapproving grandmother. "Its been a thousand years and this is how you say hello"
their coldness(frierens mostly, we dont know enough about Serie) is most probly from their solidarity. we gotta remember that frieren was ALONE for almost a millennium after Flamme died.... she was by herself in the middle of nowhere till Himmel, Heiter and Eisen went to meet that "old strong mage". So it's likely a combination of living practically forever, being alone and disassociating... these 10 years with them as a group changed her for a reason.
I think Serie is ultimately a sympathetic character. All those "insults", like when she said Lernen was a disappointment, if you think about them, she's not "disappoined" because Lernen failed to reach Serie's level, it's because he didn't have TIME to reach her level. In the end, she's really just grieving over the tragic fact that humans' limited lifespan prevents them from reaching their full potential. That's why she says she shouldn't take on human students. But she still holds out hope, which is why she then immediately turns around and offers to take on Fern the human as her student. Also, there's another hidden story to the field of flowers spell. From the information in these episodes, we can conclude that this is actually the spell that defeated the demon king! First, Serie mentions off-hand that the demon king instantly saw right through Frieren's mana suppression. Then we learn that the flower spell is the reason Himmel specifically recruited Frieren as the party's mage. And Frieren says that if any of the 4 of them wasn't there, they couldn't have defeated the demon king. So broadly speaking, Flamme taught Frieren two things: magic for revenge, i.e. mana hiding; and magic for fun, i.e. the flower spell. And the grand irony is that Flamme's "magic for revenge" failed, while her "magic for fun" actually got Frieren her revenge. So when Frieren says the flower spell is her favorite, in addition to all the other reasons she likes it, it's also because it is, in a very literal sense, how she got her revenge on demons.
The only magic that it's been implied was used against the Demon King is the unnamed spell that the Frieren Clone cast against Fern in Ep-26. The flower spell brought them together - it is why the party was together and able to beat the demon king. Reading any more into it is well into WMG territory.
@@TheBaldrickk I'm not saying that Frieren cast the flower spell as some sort of attack during the flight with the demon king. But Serie called the flower spell useless, and Frieren's reply was basically saying that if it weren't for the flower spell, she never would have ended up joining Himmel's party and she wouldn't have had her revenge. And possibly Himmel's party with a different mage might not have been able to defeat the demon king. So in Frieren's eyes, it's the most useful spell she has ever learned.
I was about to post that very same thought. Her deepest passion is to see a truly talented mage reach the pinnacle of their craft. She's not disappointed in him, she's disappointed to see him come so close to greatness only to be held back by his limited life expectancy. She actually complimented him for reaching such a level of proficiency and lamenting the fact that he won't be able to take that last step. She simply has the emotional maturity of a bratty elf so she doesn't express herself very well. I think that's also why she says she won't teach anyone without talent. She can't stand to see them fail to reach their potential and anyone without a great talent for magic simply won't ever make it. She'd just set herself up for disappointment.
I know that it has been memed alot but Serie is what I would call an honest tsundere, honest in a sense that the series sees past the modernised usage of the trope and shows how a "real" tsundere "can" act under normal circumstances. Also there is the fact that she simply lacks emotionaly maturity, as Frieren often says that she acts like a child. How? I dunno there is still alot of stuff that we do not know about Elfs. Also huge advancements in psychology are still a few centuries ahead lol
One thing that I really like about Serie’s test is that it proves that both she is right and Frieren is too, in their own way. On one hand, Serie is right that spending so long sequestered alone, just to learn how to suppress her mana was a waste of time for Frieren. Frieren did not and has not truly lived until these past 80 years, until that mere 10 year journey, and in the end, all of her practice in suppressing her mana came to nothing before the Demon King, who was able to see that yes, she was suppressing her mana. She failed at tricking the one thing that she had trained for 900 years to trick. She could have used those 900 years to help people, to travel, to learn of the world. On the other hand, Frieren is correct. Serie’s entire worldview surrounding magic as a tool for power that can only be expressed through strength is fundamentally flawed. Magic is a thing that transcends such crude and petty notions as power and strength, and these spells of battle are truly the weakest and least impressive expression of magic that there can be, like taking a gemstone and using it as a hammer. The spell that saved the world was a spell to create a field of flowers, not some mighty spell of war magic, not magic for revenge, but magic for peace, magic for friendship, magic for helping, and yes, magic for love.
Frieren is one of those works of fiction, not just in terms of anime, but art in general, that just changes your life, even in a small way. Personally, after watching Frieren, I made a commitment to get in touch with the distant family I once was close with, but had no contact with for many years, and also to never say goodbye. Recently I made a trip across the country to meet those relatives, and we had a great time. It's like we never lost contact in the first place. And when I was leaving, I said: "see you later", knowing I would be back soon enough. As for season 2, it's pretty much a given. Frieren is WILDLY popular in Japan, the sales of manga absolutely exploded, and the final message on the screen: "The journey to Ende continues" pretty much seals the deal. Season 2 is definitely planned. Not sure if it's in the works right now, since the whole premise of the show is that you should treasure the things you care about, so they wouldn't want to rush it. I feel like the second season will come when everyone is ready. It'll be like visiting your distant family after several years of no contact :)
There hasn’t been confirmation of a season 2, however, on July 5th at AnimeExpo there is a Frieren/Appthecary Diaries event. The director, producer, Himmel’s va and a 4th person I can remember are going to be attending. I’m hoping we get a season 2 announcement then
I remember seeing a UA-cam short announcing this show and I figured immediately it sounded like an interesting concept. The life of an immortal Elf following the party's disbanding and having to see her friends grow old around her because she was one of the few of her kind remaining. Little did I know that Frieren would become THE best Anime I have ever seen. How it would become the most memorable show with the most memorable characters as well as side characters. Every episode felt like a mix of being long and being short at the same time.. because of how much content they packed in. However they packed it in in such a way that it felt pleasant to watch and not at all rushed. Himmel managing to become a fan favorite despite dying in the very first episode... and already by then you get a sense of what kind of person he is from the just five minutes of screen time he really gets. Just his compassion and understanding of Frieren's situation and what she will be going through. All of his vainness and desire to be "immortalized" being so that Frieren would have something to remember him by.. and of course to be remembered in history as well. The same goes for Heiter and Eisen as well.. both of them being such treats. With Heiter "manipulating" Frieren in such a gentle way to make her basically adopt Fern and not have to regret this decision. I will miss this show. It will remain the top tier for me for all time.
Despite the fact that Serie is the youngest looking elf we've seen , and her seemingly immature way of dealing with people, she's the oldest elf in the series. The reason she knows spells from the Age of Mythology is because she was alive during that age. My personal opinion is that she's cold to others because, if she got attached, she'd break after so many have passed on during the tens of thousands of years she's been alive.
I swear I've seen this ending at least 10 times now but when you turn on the waterworks I can't help but follow suit a little bit 🥲 This anime is fantastic beyond words, instantly one of the greatest of all time for me, and it's not even an exaggeration to say that it has changed my life. But it was made even better by following it along with you. What a journey Ali! Seeing your genuine laughs, tears and shocked expressions made all of those moments hit even harder, whenever you vocalized the exact same thoughts I was having it was such a joy and getting your point of view and pointing out things I hadn't even thought of made the experience so much deeper! Watching your reactions is such a heartwarming and soul-soothing experience for me and I'm so happy I found your channel! Thank you SO MUCH, Ali. You're amazing at what you do and I look forward to seeing where we go next!
I’m going to cry reading this, thank you so much. Means a lot to me and I’m so grateful you followed along in my journey, frieren definitely left an imprint in my heart, now need to find something to fill the void. 😆
Tbh, I am rewatching Frieren with her like for good sake as she is that genuine in the very little things in lyfe. Thanks for the journey! Looking forward for Season2!
Serie is tough, she is very cold and short, but i think it's clear through her actions that she cares about humanity and its survival. Where as Friern has lived for centuries, the implication is that Serie has lived for millennia, she talks later in the manga about being from the time of myth which is when the goddess was around and was pre-historic when Flamme was alive. I think she has walled herself off to such an extent that she doesn't even realize on a conscious level that she truly cares for her students. She is also constantly striving to reach the apex of magic and to take someone there with her. This is one of the reasons she's so pissed at Friren: she would have been the perfect student. But Frieren just didn't have the same mindset. If you take a close look at Serie's face as she says Fern passed you can see right before she turns completely around that she is dejected. It's one of the saddest moments in the show imo. She's found someone again that she thinks she can finally share everything with and pull up to her level and she gets rejected. Narratively she's an awesome foil for Frieren and a great example of how Friren might have turned out if she didn't meet the people she did.
Thank you for reacting to this show. It's been awesome seeing someone react to it that has empathy and really understands the story. You are awesome! Still waiting for the Kaiju No.8 reactions!! Lol
30:30 If it helps, I think what Frieren told Lernen made things a lot less sad for him. Serie after all said she has never regretted taking on any of her students, and remembers them all clearly. She basically admitted she treasures them, her "disappointment" simply being from how she imagines how much more they could do with longer lifespans. And Frieren bringing that admission out of her is presumably why she banned her for a thousand years.
So proud of you coming into your own as a creator Ali and glad that you started doing reactions like I recommended. This was beautiful! Only up from here.
Serie is quite literally "a living memoire". She has a spell to grant others any spell she knows. And she has lived for so long that she knows almost every spell.
Been watching different reactors lately simply to see which ones are frustrated at Serie and which ones understands. Its all perspective, elves are children. They dont "grow up" as fast as humans. Our perception should not apply to them- Serie said it themselves, humans advance "quickly", they cannot delay major decisions in their lives like elves do. Serie speaks in brutal honesty because she hasnt grown up enough to understand how to speak with empathy. NONE of what she says is wrong- Flamme was a failure because her expectation is for the student to beat the master (just like many masters hope one day for their student). Yes she has years over her but again, humans are advancing quickly so she hoped Flamme would. Lernen will die soon cuz hes old. They are all truth. They just lack discretion, they lack filter, that which we as adults learn to do when we say things to someone. Unlike Frieren who had a great role model in Himmel, Serie is less mature. A comparison is even given in the form of Kraft the monk who acts more adult-like since hes ABSOLUTELY ancient. There is no reason to feel frustrated at Serie when she acts cold. Just as you would not be angry at a child because they are doing kid things. They'll grow up. They'll learn. Frieren challengies Serie about the flowers conjured by magic made Serie admit things she normally wouldnt have. Shell get there eventually.
Them saying "The journey to ende continues" at the very end is their way of confirming that there will be a season 2. Just it'll take a while, as usual with animes, they need quite a lot of time for pre-production, planning, story boarding, etc etc. So just rest assured that there will be a season 2, just it'll probably take a while. Idk, like 1-2 years.
No it isn't. There has been no confirmation of a season 2 as of yet. Its just them telling you the story goes on which it does in the award winning manga its based off of. We are hoping for a season 2 announcement in July at the moment otherwise its just up in the air.
Serie is possibly the strongest person in this world. Basically a living goddess and head of magic. I think she is allowed to be rude, it doesnt affect me that much. She is not evil so let her have this.
There’s a small detail that I’ve seen being overlooked by almost everyone, and maybe it’s nothing but: When Lernen-the Serie student who tried to fight Frieren-says “we are truly awkward, you and I” he actually uses “あなた” when referring to Serie. “Anata” is a form of “you” usually reserved for loved ones or partners. It’s what you’d call your wife or, maybe, the person you long for but with whom you only dream of having something. So, I think what they’re implying with the choice is that Lernen is actually in love with Serie. Or loving her from a distance in a way similar to Himmel. It’s a little detail, from a character that’s barely there, but I think that kind of attention to every little bit of the world is what goes a long way into fleshing out this series, making everything feel so rich and meaningful, and making this show/manga so incredibly good.
Not many people notice that Frieren's total mana is just a fraction of Serie's Supressed mana. That's why with that much mana, there's still a fluctuation indicating Serie is supressing her mana as well
This has basically been one long Bounty ad. I know the feeling of not knowing what to do with yourself after finishing this show. Before this, I basically never watched reaction content, but now I've watched other people watch the whole show through several times. Not to mention all the extra effort I've put into irl relationships. If you're looking for other anime with emotional impact (albeit, FAR less), I would suggest Vivy: Flourite Eye's Song and Ascendance of a Bookworm.
So far the anime has stayed very true to the manga. For all of season 1, 1 episode of the anime is 2 chapters of the manga. If they keep following that pattern then there is enough of the manga for them to make season 2 entirely and the very beginning of season 3. I've loved watching your reaction to this show and also can not wait for season 2!
BEAUTIFUL SHOW and Himmel's quote to then Frieren quoting him was the perfect conclusion. Ed2 is actually the 2nd verse of the same song as Ed1 by milet [Anytime Anywhere].
"In the end, that boy never saw the fluctuations in my mana, either." Which means she's compressing her mana down to Frieren's max level. Serie's actual mana must be the size of the city lmao
Serie is basically what someone like Frieren would be if she had grown older without ever meeting people like Himmel's party who taught her how to honestly express herself.
Ugh, my heart was not ready. I didn't cry when I watched it myself, but ya better believe I started bawling here. Your reactions to this series have been a pleasant surprise and an absolute delight! One doesn't often see such intuition and emotional intelligence applied when reacting to a series, it's been a treat to behold. This and the ending of season one for Dungeon Meshi were the one-two punch that floored me, now I dunno what the heck I'm gonna do. I started watching Girls Band Cry, and the emotional depth and character drama in that one is also outstanding, I'd love to see you react to it someday, but otherwise, this has been great~!
Finally we all know the reason why Frieren looked normal and didn't cry when Himmel died. But her cry came out when Himmel was covered by the ground. not because she doesn't know or she doesn't understand human emotions. She simply followed Himmel's words, parting in a light manner because Frieren was sure she would meet him again.
I read somewhere that the last time the author took hiatus from the manga was also the time she consulted the anime production team by giving inputs to Frieren S1. So recently Frieren's manga went on indefinite hiatus again....so rumours are probably s2 is being in discussions.
A small detail at the end. Remember when Frieren was recalling some moments with Himmel at his burial? One of them was Himmel saying "Tearful goodbyes aren't our style".
I’m sure someone else has mentioned it. But the twist with the relationship between Serie and Frieren isn’t that Serie dislikes Frieren, but that Frieren and her adherence to Flammes plan was a disappointment for Serie, and that as such Frieren hasn’t yet reached her potential that Serie envisioned for her when they first met. Remember Frierens words, “Series intuition is always right.” Well Series initial intuition upon meeting Frieren was that she liked Frieren a lot and saw her vast potential. That potential was diverted by Flamme in order to bring and end to the Demon King and begin a new age of magic. Neither of which Serie, because of her nature could visualize and achieve. So she’s still a bit salty about that when Frieren shows back up and upends her selection process. I might add, that in terms of potential, my intuition is Fern is quite likely a mage on par with Flamme, and will likely leave a similar legacy. Actualizing in reality Flammes dream for the future. It’s almost like there are three stories happening simultaneously through Frieren. Flammes plan and dream, Himmels legacy and their current journey to Heaven in the north.
Frieren Season 2 is still not OFFICIALLY confirmed yet. The director of the anime is still working on a different anime so it's speculated that it won't be Confirmed confirmed until that ones complete. The anime being the next season of Bocchi,( or was it the movie). Which is also highly popular for the way it was adapted. The director is just too good at his job. That being said. There is plenty. PLENTY of material for another 24 episode season when they make it. There's no way they won't with how popular it was
Was it really confirmed that Bocchis 2nd season is made, do you have a source where I can read it? That´d be a wish come true for me and surely for many others. As far as I know there are 2 Bocchis movies coming out this year, but their gonna be a recap of season 1.
@@UltraHD.7 you are right, it's the movie that's coming out this year. Though it does have enough material for a season 2 so I imagine they'd announce a season 2 after the movie comes out, since they did tease it at the end of the anime already, and the anime too has been a huge success
Regarding the ending song, may I suggest looking up the full song? 'milet「Anytime Anywhere] MUSIC VIDEO' its such a great song and a great music video as well, and the fact that ending 1 and ending 2 is from the same song, just different halves of the same song is just so great
Gracias por reaccionar a esta maravillosa obra maestra es increíble como nos contaron la historia cada vez que apareció himell no paraba de llorar,es increíble ver tus reacciones y no te preocupes no es un adios es un asta pronto😢
The flower carpet scene. And then reconnect the reason why Himmel knew about the flower language and the ring. The first magic he saw made his curiosity about magic blossom in him, then, years later, his love for Frieren. The scene of the ring and the proposal is even stronger knowing this.
I literally stopped watching Frieren for a month because I couldn’t imagine finishing it, it shot straight into my top 5 shows of all time and that’s just based of the first season. It’s been a while Ive been so invested in a main character as I have with Frieren. Loved your reactions, it was fun watching along side you!
Im also thinking it has a double meaning to frieren said "That would be embarassing if we meet again" saying herself when the time come she will meet himmel in Aureole where the soul gather there that would be super embarassing for frieren.
Serie is much older than Frieren, but she's not getting any further in communication skills because she never tried to. She still think it's pointless because every one she communicate with wouldn't live long. Frieren wants to understand humans better because of the impact that Himmel has on him. Himmel is really one of a kind.
Serie's VA has such a low voice, which makes the tiny character she plays quite funny to me. When she walks past Fern and her head is barely in view! I love the way she does cute things with her feet, too. She might be a tremendous mage, but she still likes to splash about with her foot, and sniff the flowers.
On September 28th in Japan, it was officially announced that Season 2 is in production. The animation will be done by Madhouse, just like Season 1. I look forward to your reaction at that time!
If you noticed when himmel said something about the field of flowers being beautiful, but little himmel never looked at the flowers but only focused on frieren
From the first episode, it's so funny to see you thinking and looking for more depth to a couple of details that simply don't have any further, like Frieren's look at Himmel as a child Blabla and his clone in the test hahahahaha, but it's so cute see you when you get sentimental with the other details that happen,,,u are one of the most intuitive and observant reactor I've seen in recent years, te has vuelto de mis favoritas, ojala la 2da temporada salga rapído
The tragic thing about Serie is that she is very ambitious and rude, but as seen in the last ep, she does feel affection to each and everyone of her students, even those that didn't live to her expectation but just doesn't seem to realize those feelings yet. Similar to Frieren at the start of the series. I think she truly sees the potential in her students to be great (and even surpass her) but due to the limited lifespan of humans she is always left alone at the peak of magic with no one to share her joys, this is why she is so jaded and flippant even though she appreciates them all. She is eternally lonely. This is also why she's so disappointed with Frieren since she is one of the extreme few (i.e. an elf prodigy of magic) that has the raw talent AND lifespan to reach the peak of magic with her but Frieren just isn't ambitious like her.
Frieren acknowledged that she herself is awkward so she understood how awkward Serie was to not tell her apprentices how she truly felt...this was way back at the end of the Stark Birthday/Hamburg backstory episode. And now she's dispensing that same lesson to Letnen. Probably hoping that even at the twilight of his years, Lernen would understand Serie even for just a bit and not get carried away by her lack of acknowledgement.
one little tidbit that most seem to overlook or at least not point out is how much serie talks down about the idea of suppressing one's mana and unless you have the talent for it, you are better off spending that time improving other skills. But at the same time she herself is also constantly suppressing her mana (whenever she talks about seeing the fluctuations, the fluctuations are signs of someone suppressing their mana and no one expect fern could tell that she is suppresing) and she likely spend decades on learning that skill flamme came up with after flamme died. though we don't know for certain if flamme was the first to come up with it or if it was series idea, we do know that back in flammes time, serie was still too weak to defeat the demon king and shortly after flamme's death she basically vanished from the public until she created this new magic association about 30 years after himmels death. i think she spent all those years perfecting suppression while from time to time taking apprentices, trying to find another talent like flamme. also when serie talks about mages reaching her height, she obviously doens't mean her mana or strength, but the ambitions, control over mana and just the pure perfection of a skill for combat. also, also, while we don't really know much more about series motivations and why she created the magic association, the fact that she still wants to build an army of strong mages, might give a hint on what's to come, or she is just looking for perfection because she would be bored otherwise
I think Serie is the best tsundere character I've ever seen in a show, she says things but she's always doing the opposite. She says the spell to create flowers is meaningless and useless but she's sitting in a room full of well maintained flowers created by magic, she says that Flamme was a failure but she can't stop reminiscing about her, she says that she won't comply to Flamme's will but here she is founding the Magic Association, she says she won't take anymore students and in the next minutes she's trying to recruit Fern, she says she took all her students on a whim and she's disappointed that they never reached great heights yet she remembers everyone of they personalities and their favorite spells. I belive Serie is a Frieren without a Himmel, unable to sort her felling or even trying to, but she's always doing actions that contradic her words. And I think when she says she's disappointed in her student I believe she's disappointed because they're gonna die soon and she won't see more of their to be accomplishments if they had more time. I really enjoyed your journey through these reactions, I hope to see more of you in the future. o/
That moment after she insults lernen and leaves the room, Serie basically confirms that her suppressed mana is equal to Frieren’s unsuppressed mana. That’s how much of a beast Serie is. She makes an overpowered character like frieren look like an apprentice in comparison. Lernen said that frieren’s mana was equal to Serie mana because he didn’t notice for all these decades that serie has also been suppressing her mana the whole time. And this all loops back to fern. She immediately noticed Serie’s mana fluctuating within seconds of meeting her when a mage as legendary as lernen didnt for so long. That why Serie immediately tried to recruit her and steal her away from frieren. This all just speaks for fern’s insane potential. She might very much be the next Flamme, or perhaps even greater. A legendary mage that will be noted down in history forever.
I'm TEARING UP, not just because of the episode but because it's the end OF AN ERA. I've been watching your reactions from quite early on. It's been nice to see someone with just the right balance of commentary, reaction and watching. We reacted very similarly to this adaption and it made me wish I knew how you'd react to like, EVERYTHING (As I said last week, Apothecary Diaries has a similarly distant-quirky heroine!) Thanks for sharing your reactions with us. Unfortunately, no word on Season 2 yet but fully expect me to blast your comments section as soon as there is!
Thank you so much! Apothecary Diaries is definitely something I’ll be watching and reacting to, as it’s something that catches my interest so it’s time will come. 💗
It is clear that Serie hasn’t learnt the same lessons about the importance of relationships, emotions of others and her own like Frieren did once Himmel passed away. Her „disappointment“ regardless of what she may believe is not directed at her students directly but their circumstances like a „that’s it, that’s all they ever gonna be“. For her perspective, she has great and talented students with the potential to match her if not surpass her but are unable due their life spans regardless how gifted or talented they are. From her point of view, she never managed to finish training her apprentices, all dying mid term due age and never reach their limit and greatness. Possibly similar if a teacher has great brilliant students who could change the world with training and their potential but all of them die before they can graduate and can never make their mark.
I just want you to know that I watch a lot of Frieren reactions and yours is the best on UA-cam. I think its, in part, due to your personality, being able to express your emotions easily throughout the series. It is so reassuring to see you crying to scenes out of sadness, beauty, and love that also made me cry. I'm sure others gain that same reassurance. If you want another series with emotional content, consider Natsume's Book of Friends. This series is an easy one to view because it is wholesome and beautifully emotional. On the other hand, another series you may want to consider is Bakemonogatari. I must preface Bakemonogatari by saying that this series is heavily dialogue-based, and, at times, the viewer must overcome some anime cliches but also some questionable adult situations. Being a veteran anime viewer helps when tackling this series. Either way one can't know the series if they don't go through it. I ended up dropping the series my first watch due to the heavy dialog, but it became my number 1 series after my second attempt years later. If you decide to look into the series, there is a debate about watching it in airing or chronological order. I prefer airing order since it's the way everyone else watched it. Lastly, if you're more interested in recent animes, Chainsaw Man is a recent anime that's popular. Anyways, thanks for taking us on this journey.
Thank you for the kind words, means a lot to me, I’m a very empathetic person and tend to feel a lot, some anime like this really gets the waterworks going for me lol. I’ll definitely look into these recommendations! thank you so much.
This anime contains a lot of complex expressions that are difficult to understand unless you are a Japanese speaker. I think it would be difficult to enjoy it with English subtitles. However, you seem to be enjoying it even behind the subtitles.
"death isn't the only goodbye in this life" if i was frieren that would be depressing knowing immortality is a curse for someone since anybody arounds you will die
Am i the only one that wants to see serie fight?? Her mana output, even surpressed, is pretty much equal to unsurpressed frieren. Serie is probably one of the most powerful characters out there
If you havent seen it yet, you could watch Arcane. Its an animated series based on some characters of league of legends. Its amazing and you dont have to know anything about the game to enjoy the show. Also season 2 is coming this november. Great reaction btw.
I really apreciate that u bring ur reaction until the end of episode. REALLY APRECIATE IT, hope this anime will have a second season or we will waiting for 50 years like himmel... Perhaps it doesnt take that much time. Thankx for the content ❤❤❤❤
But Zelda, dont care if crying, cause this anime is just awesome. Best anime ever. it would probably take time to top this. And the ride goes on :D Fern the youngest first class ever with 18~19. even Lernen was 20~21 as he become it. i guess Land become first class through zoom. I believe Wirbel has something to do with Himmels Homeland cause of the haircolor but "death isnt the only way of goodbye" hits rly hard
Fern turned 17 shortly before Sein left. Incidentally, she got her Third-class certification when they left the holy city - that was when Heiter died. She was 12, MAYBE 13 then.
Somebody made the suggestion somewhere that the gravestone in the second ending actually belongs to Fern and I refuse to look up anything about it because I don't want to be spoiled. But goddamn, now I tear up every time I think about the possibility. I still think it was Himmel's but there's enough in the scenery of the closing that could support it being Fern and it hurts.
Frieren is the only anime for a long time where it got me excited every week again waiting for the next episode. Before, I'm pretty much tired of anime for many years because i've watched so many animes and probably have watched 1000+ of them(i've been watching anime continously for almost 20 years). Especially when almost all of anime are following the same trope over and over again. That's why even popular animes now that alot of people get hyped for like MHA, chainsaw man, JJK, solo leveling, demon slayer, etc. I can't even finish those because of how many generic tropes they have (it make sense though, why change the tropes if it still works right? They still make money doing those tropes) I can't even finish most of anime now i just ended up just watching 2 or 3 episodes i immediately get bored and stop watching. That's why I'm happy that watching frieren somehow made me feel the joy of watching anime again.
Anyone who does labor would appreciate spells like laundry spells, spells than clean kitchenware, spells that can help in farms, etc. They're also living in a peaceful era, battle/war spells would be pretty useless most of the time considering that mages are already pretty powerful and they can take care of threats such as bandits. They can probably also beat all class of demons considering that in current frieren timeline, magic is already way more advanced.
Have you seen the story about a guy in Taiwan who helped stop an attacker with a knife on a train? When they asked him why he risked his life like that his answer was, “It’s what Himmel the Hero would’ve done.” He deeds are changing the world.
greeting from Malaysia, ya i saw the news about the attacker with a knife on a train in Taiwan
This is the motivation the world needs
“Himmel the hero loved stopping Knife attacks 🙂.” - Frieren when she was asked about this probably
When a character deeds are so powerfull that goes beyond dimensions to the universe that is over yours......
I mean, when Serie battle a demon, she playing with the demon lol but Frieren have so much trouble dealing with the demon (manga)
“hippie BS” REAL 😂
Damn, you're calling Frieren a "hippie BS" is pretty hilarious 😅
Omygosh that is a wonderful insight ty
I did not get that either, ty
"Wastes" could be lil harsh though, as the show makes an example/explains why her way of being was how the Demon King could be defeated.
I had seen this anime so many times already and only this time did I notice that when she pointed it out
Thank you so much, you don’t know how much that means to me. 💗
But she missed the part about the Serie's mana fluctuation. Totally confused.
Frieren lack of such ambition - this is why she would never realise her true potential and meet Serie expectations about her
.
Also - dont forget, Serie is +\- 10k years old demigod which is influence on how she communicate with people
.
I cried like a newborn on the finale as well ... such a great anime, class of it's own
I love the subtle details and call backs in this anime.
I think Serie does value the little things, she just doesn't like admitting it. She's basically a super tsundere when it comes to her feelings.
Meh, i feel like Serie actually understand the value and meaning, she's just dont show it. Continental Magic Association is Flamme wish, while at first she's literally digusted by the idea, she done it anyway. She called the flower spell foolish and useless, she still uses them.
I think she act like that to distance herself, so she dont get hurt all that much and thats why she's pretty rude, have you notice she talk shit abt everyone yet do their wishes, remember all of them, the way she talk to Lernen is rude yes, but she's also point out he cant see Serie fluctuation but sorta in endearing way ? you know not "ew,he still cant see that im supressing my mana, useless ass human"
so..a tsundere (extreme level)
With himmel's words now u can tell why they didnt cry at his funeral
@@DarwinAwardWinner Ah. Well, in that case, I mis-read before, and 100% agree with you!
Your channel had the best reaction of Frieren, loved every moment. I went through the same emotions. Thank you for doing this 🥰
Thank you so much. 💗
My personal opinion is that she's cold to others because, if she got attached, she'd break after so many have passed on during the tens of thousands of years she's been alive.
like Frieren said in ep 14, she've lost many things
I swear I've seen this ending at least 10 times now but when you turn on the waterworks I can't help but follow suit a little bit 🥲
This anime is fantastic beyond words, instantly one of the greatest of all time for me, and it's not even an exaggeration to say that it has changed my life.
Something fun to think about: Serie doesn't talk to Ubel because she doesn't want Ubel to be able to understand or sympathize with her.
What a masterpiece of a season
Lol
Thank you so much! Means a lot to me, yes!! It’s been put on pause due to my surgery but this week I’ll be bouncing back. 😊
It's been so much fun watching you react to this show. Thank you for sharing this journey with us. ❤
So proud of you coming into your own as a creator Ali and glad that you started doing reactions like I recommended. This was beautiful! Only up from here.
Lmao
It was a mere 28 episode adventure
Welcome to the season 2 waiting room.
And/or the manga readers' club.
Love your reactions!!
Serie is so prickly, she means well but damn she's hard to appreciate.
This was definitely the first anime that made me cry because it ended, I had never experienced that before.
Thank you for sharing 😊
Oh, it's you again
@@unknown_318yes?
BEAUTIFUL SHOW and Himmel's quote to then Frieren quoting him was the perfect conclusion.
Ed2 is actually the 2nd verse of the same song as Ed1 by milet [Anytime Anywhere].
"In the end, that boy never saw the fluctuations in my mana, either."
Which means she's compressing her mana down to Frieren's max level.
You’re spot on re the flowers
Your attention to details is amazing and also able to read hidden symbolism. Great reaction
Though it does have enough material for a season 2 so I imagine they'd announce a season 2 after the movie comes out, since they did tease it at the end of the anime already, and the anime too has been a huge success
one of the few anime that had me crying cause of the lessons and wholesome moments.
Thanks for sharing your journey with us! Here's to Season 2 bringing us back to life.
Regarding the ending song, may I suggest looking up the full song? 'milet「Anytime Anywhere] MUSIC VIDEO' its such a great song and a great music video as well, and the fact that ending 1 and ending 2 is from the same song, just different halves of the same song is just so great
And while you're at it, go look up the full version of Bliss, the insert track from Episode 11, by the same artist.

Dangit! You're crying. I'm crying. We're all crying. That ending will never not emotionally destroy me in the best way possible.
Frierens total mana= Series suppressed mana. Now the question is how good is Serie's suppression. 5x? 10x? We dont know
Im also thinking it has a double meaning to frieren said "That would be embarassing if we meet again" saying herself when the time come she will meet himmel in Aureole where the soul gather there that would be super embarassing for frieren.
Not even Serie wanted to be in close proximity to Ubel for too long 😂
No need to talk, no need to empathize.
And here we go again. Another time Himmel totally melts your heart.
On September 28th in Japan, it was officially announced that Season 2 is in production. The animation will be done by Madhouse, just like Season 1. I look forward to your reaction at that time!
This is amazing news!!💗
If you noticed when himmel said something about the field of flowers being beautiful, but little himmel never looked at the flowers but only focused on frieren
From the first episode, it's so funny to see you thinking and looking for more depth to a couple of details that simply don't have any further, like Frieren's look at Himmel as a child Blabla and his clone in the test hahahahaha, but it's so cute see you when you get sentimental with the other details that happen,,,u are one of the most intuitive and observant reactor I've seen in recent years, te has vuelto de mis favoritas, ojala la 2da temporada salga rapído
Aveces busco demasiado cuando no hay nada, pero soy una llorona y muy sentimental, pero me crié con novelas 😂 muchas gracias 💗
W reaction 🥳🥳 see u on season2
May I propose 'oshi no ko' as the next series to react to? The second season starts on 3 July.
one little tidbit that most seem to overlook or at least not point out is how much serie talks down about the idea of suppressing one's mana and unless you have the talent for it, you are better off spending that time improving other skills.
I enjoyed crying along with you.
i binge-watched your frieren reactions. i liked all of them! yes, i enjoyed. keep it up! subbed.
Thank you 💗
I know this is a completely unrelated, but there’s an Isekai I REALLY want you to watch, it’s “So I’m a spider, So what”
I think Serie is the best tsundere character I've ever seen in a show, she says things but she's always doing the opposite.
I really enjoyed your journey through these reactions, I hope to see more of you in the future. o/
Himmel: "Tearful goodbyes aren't our style"
me: okay I won't cr-
Himmel: "After all, it would be embarrassing if we meet again"
me: 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
That moment after she insults lernen and leaves the room, Serie basically confirms that her suppressed mana is equal to Frieren’s unsuppressed mana.
She will be the pioneer in laundry and cooking magical technology.
Also a thing to note.
Frierens’s full mana matches Serie’s suppressed mana.
It does go to show how strong Serie is. XD
serie is the master of the 'reverse compliment samwich' ... a compliment surrounded by insults.
If you wanna cry some more, watch Plastic Memories, WorldEnd, Violet Evergarden... just to name a few.
Serie is probably one of the most powerful characters out there
12:51. Apparently, you didn't pay attention when they talked about the "fluctuations" in the field created with magic.
Which app do you use for watching?
Sadly being nicer won’t change the outcome so she uses harsh reality to her reasoning
You are so intelligent for picking up on serie's flowers
If you havent seen it yet, you could watch Arcane. Its an animated series based on some characters of league of legends. Its amazing and you dont have to know anything about the game to enjoy the show. Also season 2 is coming this november.
Great reaction btw.
I really apreciate that u bring ur reaction until the end of episode. REALLY APRECIATE IT, hope this anime will have a second season or we will waiting for 50 years like himmel... Perhaps it doesnt take that much time. Thankx for the content ❤❤❤❤
I recommend "Spy x Family", it's also a sweet anime.
Great reaction to the series! I'm right there with ya!
Good reaction as always ;)
But Zelda, dont care if crying, cause this anime is just awesome. Best anime ever. it would probably take time to top this. And the ride goes on :D
Fern the youngest first class ever with 18~19. even Lernen was 20~21 as he become it. i guess
Land become first class through zoom.
@@aediusbarbatus This is oof. there are some leaks that madhouse is now work on the second season :3
Somehow 1000 years from now Serie will realize that Fern made piles of gold inventing magical laundry technology.
