Hey everyone! I’m finally going back home and will be back to recording and posting regularly. I’m so excited!! Thanks again for all the love and support on this series! Throughout the episode, Stark is thinking of himself as a fake hero compared to Himmel, even saying "I bet Himmel wouldn't have run" - but he spent his whole day helping all the townspeople, which is exactly what Himmel would've done
Yep, this episode is all about Stark's perception of a great warrior. There were 2 people he idolized (Stoltz and Himmel) as great warriors/heroes and 1 person he wanted praise from (Eisen). This episode is about him realizing 1) It's not power or a prophecy that makes you a great warrior 2) The people in his life who he considered as great warriors in turn thought of him as a great warrior. Everyone gave him something and have been constantly telling him he's a great warrior but are just socially awkward enough that they can't get the message across properly. SPOILERS for future episodes below You also start to notice that Stark is less frightened in fights from this point forward. Not that there are a lot of fights involving him anymore. He didn't hesitate when he got between Lernen and Frieren. And I don't think he had too much of an issue when he assisted Wirbel and Scharf.
@@annabethchase2569 Adding onto this and BIG spoiler warning since this is from the manga during the next arc after the anime Stark and Genau's battle against the sword demon was a big moment for Stark because he fought bravely even though he was scared, against the strongest enemy he's ever seen.
We have to consider, Fern was raised by an almost 100 years old priest and then by a 1000 year old juvenile elf and now she might experience her maybe first crush ever. Of course she's insecure what to do 😊
I've cried in many different anime, but I've never seen an anime that pulls off emotional whiplash like Frieren does in this episode. They literally have you laughing through tears seconds after that emotional gut punch. I also want to point out that 18:20 is a visual gag from the animators. Frieren's voice actress, Atsumi Tanezaki, is also the voice of Anya in Spy X Family, so they gave Frieren that Anya smug face.
Really loved the twist that Himmel wasn’t able to pull the heroes sword but he still ended being a real hero, that adds so much more weight to his words. I actually think Fern is the real perv, she just doesn’t know it yet 😂
Yes. Made me think... Many people think that means the great evil is still to come. I believe it's either the whole sword thing is a legend that isn't true from the beginning ( hinted at in this episode by the fact that people make up stories to suit the narrative anyway, for example as with Himmel)or it's because the Hero, that officially is the wielder isn't dead yet
15:41 You can tell Ali needed that laugh, it came from the heart and soul. And I totally get it, I've watched this episode close to maybe 10 times now, thanks to various reactors, and it never fails to make me cry. It's such an emotional episode for being about hamburg steaks. I can't get enough of Ali's reactions, I'll be here to the end and beyond.
I can’t tell you how much this comment made me smile from ear to ear, thank you so much for the kind words, and thank you for enjoying me being such a crybaby 😂❤
@@AliAnimus‼️Everyone locates the series faster with their original names‼️ I don't know why they have the bad habit of translating everything, seriously what is the need to do that 😒
Ep 12 is one of my favorite episodes. It's the epi where Frieren stops seeing Himmel as a Himbo and, possibly, starts to have...something... towards the Hero that she's only now emotionally fluent enough to begin working through. And the reauthoring of Stark's feelings of worthlessness and cowardice over giant hamburger patties was brilliant story telling. I CRIED big ugly tears. Two epis to go until my favorite episode so far.
I cannot agree anymore, this one so far is up there on episodes for me. I’ve been warned about ep 14(no details tho, just that it’s a really good one)….. so I’m a little scared and will make sure to have PLENTY of tissues😆

Every episode of Frieren: BJE got me but this episode got me a bit harder than most or, at least, in a different way. I know what Stark feels like - my family has never been too good to me and my life has been a litany of neglect, disappointment and sadness and I know what it's like for your own family to treat you like a stranger and to not have any friends to do anything for you, either. Stark was lucky in that he got to see, in retrospect, exactly how much a select few cared ^.^ I never knew what that was like until just a few years ago where I managed to make a friend that was actually invested in my happiness. It's been one of the strangest things to experience, but it is also so nice to feel like a person for once, too.
"Warriors are so awkward..." "...I understand because i'm awkward, too." "People won't know how you feel unless you tell them." NOW I UNDERSTAND WHAT FRIEREN MEANT ON HER DIALOGUE WITH (redacted).
You wondered if Stark could pull the sword, but when he looked at it, the face that flashed into his mind was his older brother's. To his mind the only person he can think of who might be worthy is the older brother. Stark struggles with Imposter's Syndrome since he was put down by his father and never measured up to his brother, and now with his whole village dead Stark will never know if he caught up to or surpassed him.
stark is so pure for this world and while I hope the world doesn't need the sword anymore if it does I hope stark comes back and tries to pull it, he's such a good boy. thank you for the extremely moving reaction as always!
Yeah this episode hit me like a truck because Stark's older brother Stoltz reminds me of mine. He'd no doubt do the same thing for me so when I saw their relationship, it did damage to me. Good episode
I cooked up a scene lol: Stark 2 years after on his birthday, already dating Fern 😏 Stark: What gift do you have for me Fern? Fern: I have here the clouds that you like from way back... 😏 Stark: Huh?! What clouds? Like turd shaped?! Fern: 😑🙄 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
so the blade was not for the demon lord. and presumably not for whatever Kraft was dealing with back in the day...so whatever calamity it is destined for must be tremendous. that we likely will never learn of it just makes the world that much richer. :)
I’m fairly certain stark will take the hero’s sword eventually, most likely gonna be when the series ends. They did say that the sword would only be able to be pulled when a great calamity would engulf the world…so it wasn’t the demon king.
@@damien9683 Well according to serie, frieren is pretty inexperienced for her age, which for the most part is true. She mostly spent her life collecting spells and suppressing mana.

I think Stark's brother would be proud of the warrior his younger brother became
Heiter: You have a fake sword, so you can only be a fake hero.

I'm pretty sure whoever doesn't cry at least once when watching this anime is clearly a robot imposter
Or, genuinely, an unfeeling psychopath, with complete lack of empathy.
Everytime a brother's love towards his younger brother is shown in any anime ill burst into tears. And for stark's my eyes practically a waterfall😂

A fake hero
A corrupt priest
A coward warrior
A mediocre mage
And that was the party who defeated the Demon King
