I just want to Thank You very much for a spot on troubleshooting video of the same strange issue on my 2017 Passat. Vag-Com told me it was the RT Front ABS speed sensor which I changed and now everything is back to normal. Thank you!
Great video , I have a 2012 CC with numerous problems. I have all of those dash lights on and shifting problems. This is first time I have heard that those sensors may cause shifting issues and I have been to a VW dealer as well.
I believe I read that they can be part of the shifting issue. I have had the shifting issue happen randomly a couple times since I replaced the sensor, but it's much more rare than it was before.
@@VHickleGarage what other issues can that sensor cause. I'm looking at a 2013 cc to buy and says it has a bad abs sensor but it is braking really weird and shifting in high rpm sometimes.
@@ryanloughlin6380 The sensor can definitely cause some shifting issues, but no guarantee that's the only thing. For the brakes I would think the sensor could cause issues with them as a result of ESC, but I don't know for sure.

@@troysheldon5539 pretty harsh charging $150 to reset codes. They literally just have to push a button on The scanner. Maybe you should have spent that $150 and just bought a scanner for yourself. I got a blue driver for a hundred bucks that'll reset codes
@@jikert4815 In my case yes the wheel sensor seems to have cured the shifting issues. I didnt have any other codes though. .if your car is throwing codes for a trans sensor, then you may need that one replaced as well.
@@VHickleGarage It's not throwing codes for anything at all. I just know one of the wheel sensors is going bad, but it doesn't say which like it did for you (probably the software I'm using) but the shifting is horrible. I was just curious if it also fixed your shifting. I will probably replace both kinds of sensors and see what happens
This worked for me. I have the same 2011 Jetta sport wagen Thanks for video. In my case I did both rear wheel speed sensors and the break pads. I mean I had to take the wheel off anyway,,,Thanks again
Everything in this video was correct . Strangely it was also my right rear ABS sensor that was faulty but I am driving on the left in the UK . Also had issues with transmission as discussed and automatic gear shift .
Yes, all of the symptoms you described in this video are exactly what I'm having related to the bad wheel speed sensor. This is the second time I've had one go bad on my 2016 GTI and the symptoms are exactly the same as the first time, exactly the same as this video. Thank you for sharing.
Proud (and brave) owner of Scirocco 1.4 tsi petrol engine here... Hello! My testimony after this thorough and simple video (which I gratefully thank you for putting out!): - sensor replaced: lights still on; - magnetic ring wheel bearing replaced (it was needed and to further troubleshoot): lights still on. Since live data showed that rear left wheel sensor was soundingly collecting data and no diagnosis errors report other than right wheel: - Still need to check cables from rear left wheel up to abs control unit and if anomaly isn't from there, need to check fuses, voltage/power/etc from that end. ...this is an exhaustive process since I'm not a mechanic and these darn lights started their Christmas by themselves after 1 year of routine driving with no issue whatsoever... Hope still is intact but the headache factor of these little nothings that are of considerable number in VW systems and cars is starting to be very very annoying.
Very frustrating, I guess I got off easy with it only being the sensor. I'm a little confused though. . .If you're not getting any errors on the left side why check the wiring for that side? You did install the correct replacement sensor for location correct? . . .i.e. you didn't put a right front sensor on the right rear, etc? I've hear of the abs module itself going bad, but I have fortunately not had to deal with that issue.
@@VHickleGarage maybe I fumbled my words. The error exists and reports the rear right wheel only. The driving data reports all three other sensors registering speed minus the rear right wheel. Hence the needed wiring inspection and (hopefully not for now) the ABS module revision. To answer your questions straight up: nope. The sensor is correctly installed. Thank you for taking time to reply!
really helpful, thank you for this video so much my car was doing this and i took it to a mechanic and he said that it needs a lot of stuff which really scared me but after seeing this video i did it myself and everything is working great now thank you!
I had to install a new fuse box (the one over the battery)(2004 Jetta). Upon completion of the installation, the ABS and Brake lights came on. Assuming the brakes/peripherals didn't suddenly go bad in my garage, could I have accidentally triggered this code, and need to erase it?
Had this happen to me today, I just had my tires changed and rotated 3 days prior to the Christmas tree so the mechanic probably got the sensor dirty or it just broke (49,000ish miles), I don't have any software to clear codes so its time to take it back to the shop.
From what I understand, it's a pretty common issue, so probably nothing the tire shop did. If you clean/replace the sensor the lights should go away without clearing the codes. If you're planning to keep the car a long time I would suggest investing in a VAG COM. One saved trip to the shop and it will pay for itself.
Great video mate. I'm having the same issue with mine and my GF Jetta. What is the name of the program on your computer you used to clear the codes, and where can I get it. Thank you
That gear shifting issue you described at the end of the video sounds like the vehicle is going into limp mode, which is intended since the car can't read wheel speed due to the faulty sensor.
Almost 80% of VW/AUDI owners have this issue for soon or later ! So it’s including me for twice, one has happened on my 20 years old Audi but solved after cleaning up yeah run fine till now on , and now it has happened to my newest audi week ago and I’m going to clean up the ABS sensor first next weekend because after cleared up all codes it’s still come on again after driving and limping too ! This new indirect TPMS system I must hate it so … and I believe the culprit is ABS sensor itself !
@@necamarjanovic1266 Replaced front sensors. Fixed for a bit. Ended up also having a rusted out tone ring in the front right wheel bearing. Replaced, cleared, and it’s been working fine.
Thank you for the video! I have the same lights coming on my 2012 Jetta SE and scanned it to find out my rear right ABS speed sensor is also malfunctioning. I feel the same transmission issues with gear hunting you described. However, I also hear this sound coming from under the car, best way I can describe it is as if a branch was caught underneath and being dragged on the road. It is not always present and it is rhythmic, increasing when I accelerate and decreasing when I brake. It also seems to be more present when turning. Is this something you experienced/Do you think replacing the speed sensor would fix this? Or is there a bigger issue with my brakes or wheel bearing?
That noise shouldn't be related to the speed sensor. Sounds like it's possibly a bearing or CV Joint (axles) issue. I have some bearing/CV noise as well that comes and goes. I know those are both common issues on these cars. I have all new stuff sitting in the garage, but I haven't gotten around to swapping them yet. If your noise is intermittent then it's probably not dire yet, but something to think about doing soon.
What software are you using to read your Error codes? The Wheel sensor are Hall Effect sensors and work off of induction produced from the steel tone ring rotating. Dirt(road grime) on the outside of the sensor should not have any practical effect. A damaged tone ring is something that people should visually check right a way. Excessive Rust can cause them to fall apart. As long as there are no metal particles shorting out to ground, it should work. That would be a lot of metal particles.
I'm using VCDS along with the appropriate VAG-COM from Ross Tech. You're right on cleaning. . . It didn't accomplish anything. Someone on one of the forums had suggested it, so I figured it was worth a try before buying a new sensor. There was a lot of crud on the old sensor, either way it was worth cleaning it all up before installing the new sensor.
Hello my friend thank you for the great video but I have a question. When you got all the lights on (ABS / stabilizer, air bag, traction control) did the car was driving normal or the acceleration did not pass more than 30mph ? All the lights came on my car and I cannot even drive more than 30mph thanks
I did not have that particular issue, but several other people have said they did. Once you identify the faulty sensor, replacing it should fix all those problems.
I have the same issue with my 2009 Jetta. All the dash lights are ON... . I bought a used ABS pump and controller.... it was money wasted. I recently ordered all 4 abs sensors that I haven't received yet. I will post my end result once they're installed.
If you plan to keep the car and work on it, I highly recommend investing in a VAG-COM. Good chance you only need 1 sensor, not all 4.. You'll save a lot more $$ in the long run buy scanning first, then ordering parts.
Hi there!! Great job with video and fit. I am checking to see if I can perform this action on my 2016 Passat S model. Thanks for the link to sensor and ross-tech site..question though- Is the software and hardware compatible for all VAG models? Any idea? I gained confidence after watching you solve the issue and I intend to do it myself now. Please let me know if I can utilize it on 2016 model. Many thanks !!!
It should be pretty much the same for you car. Scanning will tell you for sure. Yes, the latest VAG-COM should work for your car, but you can confirm on Ross Tech''s site.
I know this video is 2 years old but it's also hilarious that this has been an issue twice on my Seat Ibiza (rebadged VW polo) with the front left sensor that I got in 2019
Very common issue apparently. I've got another one that has been acting up and needs replaced. From all the views and comments it appears many of us have had repeated issues from these sensors.
Have the exact same issue in my 2016 Tiguan. Full Xmas tree at start and the lights go away if I turn off the ignition and start it again. My VCDS cable is currently 5000 miles away as I’m in the middle of a move so I’ll have to get that shipped here asap. Thanks!
As long as you're not experiencing any other issues you can probably get by like that for a while. I drove around like that for at least a month or two before I got it fixed
Which part of Tampa are you located. I have the same issue and a A/C issue as well and I would like to see if you can help me out with it. 2011 GTI Autobahn
So I’m currently going through the same thing with my 2015 vw Jetta I ordered my new censors and they’ll be here Tuesday but I don’t have a way of clearly out the lights like you did with the computer
You might get lucky and have the lights clear themselves after you replace the sensor. If not you may be able to take it to an auto parts store and have them clear the codes. I'm not sure if their generic OBD II scanner will clear them or not.
Thank You! ross-tech.com/ They offer the software for free but you do have to buy the cable. It's a little pricey, but well worth the investment if you're going to keep the vehicle for a while. One saved trip to the shop and it pays for itself..
I have the exact same lights you had, the scanner was saying it was a rear speed sensor both left & right and no communication with the control module, I replaced both sensors and reset the lights but they all came back on except for the airbag light, I don’t know where to go next any ideas ?
If you're getting a control module error, and the lights came back after replacing both sensors then it must be the module, or a wiring issue. I'm afraid I can't be much help on that since I haven't dealt with that issue. I have a communication error with my gauges that I haven't figured out yet. It's not really affecting anything so I haven't really tried to troubleshoot.
The best video ever thank you I have this problem as we speak took it to the VW dealer and all the dash board lights lite up and they claim it was the sensor RT rear then the next lights were on again then they say it was the alternator then I took it back several times and I was told that's another sensor took it back yesterday and I was told that he changed it and the lights are still on now he's telling me that another sensor need to change changed the RT front oct 2, 2020 what I think is they should have checked all sensors and tell me right there what the problems were but thank you I have learn something about sensors
You're welcome. Can be a frustrating problem for sure. I'm starting to have intermittent sensor issues again myself, but I haven't yet checked to see which one is the problem this time.
I have a 2009 mk5 gti and it’s throwing the abs, traction and brake light on. I’m not able to read codes idk y but it also goes into 1st when the beaps start ( rethrowing the codes) I’m also cruising and I have to go to nuteral quickly so it doesn’t blow. Any ideas?
It certainly sounds like you also have a bad wheel speed sensor. Unfortunately without being able to pull codes it's just a shot in the dark. The only option would be to just replace all 4, and there's no guarantee that will fix it. I would suggest trying to find someone to scan it for you, or purchasing a VAG-COM from Ross Tech.
Do you know if the Front Left & Rear Left use the Same Sensor ? Or is each position a unique sensor? I need to replace both rear sensors. Dealer gives me unique ones, but online aftermarket just has a Front Left & Right without a rear option so was wondering if I could just use the front ones on the rear ?
awesome video! I have the same issue and dealership said the rear right bearing and hub assy. needed to be replaced along with the speed sensor. will def try this. I dont have a computer to clear the codes, just a fox code reader. will the codes clear themselves once driving, like in your video? thanks in advance.
Thank You! If you replace the faulty sensor then your CEL will probably go away like mine did. There may still be codes stored in the computer, but it won't cause any issues. Just keep a close eye on your wheel bearing, if it's making noise then you should replace that too. If it fails catastrophically then it can be very dangerous.
I have a similar issue with my Jetta I replaced the sensors but still having the issues with the lights staying on. This helped a lot with changing out the parts. But, I am still seeing the lights as well as the speedometer and odometer are not functioning. I was told by the dealership it was only my sensors that were the problem. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for any advice.
Thanks for the video. I have been facing a similar issue with my 2011 Passat. The lights on the dashboard only come up when in a long drive +200 miles, then, if the car is stopped for a while, when restarted the error is usually cleaned from the dashboard. I'm not sure what is the root of the issue in my case.
Same issue with vw cc 2012 The problem is that when i stop for a little while the error cleaned and the diagnostic scanner can not see any errors. Don’t know if i have to scan it when the lights showing for the scanner to catch it! But i can’t expect when it might happen again, to prepare to carry it by the mechanic...
Just had this happen to me trying to change the rear caliper, had to use a tube for extra leverage since those 12 point bolt were rusted to hell and back, ended up busting the abs connector and now I’m dreading to fix it
The sensor is very easy swap. 1.5/10 for Difficulty. Changing a caliper is certainly more involved. If anything is rusty or stuck make sure to spray with PB Blaster and let it sit overnight.
I am at my wits end with mine doing this. It also says right rear but I get a steering wheel light as well. I will replace the sensor now after this. I have already cleaned it. Mine started after i washed the engine from a fuel leak while doing a delete and cp3 pump.Great video.
As I showed in the video the cleaning only made the problem go away temporarily for me too. Hopefully a new sensor will solve your problems. Have you scanned the codes? I'm about to go chasing a new fuel leak myself. . .
Thanks, very useful info, From the last week I have multiple errors from Being starting the engine with loud long single alarm ,than ESB, ABS lights stay on, shows Auto Hold is not working, than saying The tires monitoring pressure is out, the Cruse control is out.. than after a while all errors gone by itself , everything back to normal until a few hours later or the next days.. i have no idea what was wrong just thinking all those errors come from single point which may only one sensor..vw golf bluemotion
All of those warning lights, and it being an intermittent issue definitely sounds like my experiences with an ABS sensor that's on its way out. I've got another one like that right now, and the lights just recently came on and have stayed on, so I've got another one to replace.
Hey !! can you give an update on the downshifting ?? had the same issue with the wheel speed sensors on my polo 6C, Replaced the sensors and have no error codes but that random downshift happens on bad roads, especially from 2nd to 1st gear. is it just how DSG behaves while moving slowly on bad roads?? !!!
I have had the issue pop up randomly a couple of times since doing the sensor. I haven't been able to pinpoint any other specific thing that is causing it. Definitely not something that is normal operation for the DSG. I would suggest checking the wiring for your sensors, but I would expect that to throw a code. Unfortunately, I haven't dug any deeper into the issue since mine hasn't been acting up.
I just had all these light popped up on my dash like Christmas lights! Did it also clear your "tire sensor?" Looks like it cleared too. Awesome video! Thanks!
Yes the speed sensor fixed my TPMS light. I know it's not true for all Vw's, but the sportwagen doesn't actually have TPMS sensors, it determines whether or not there's an issue based on the speed sensor input. At least I believe that's what I read when I first looked into it.
Hello, how are you? I had the same problem in my Passat cc 2012 and after changing the sensor the problem was fixed but sometimes the problem appears again and until that I put my car off the problem exist when you start the car again the problem disappears. Do you have any idea about my problem?
I would suggest scanning the car again. It sounds like one of the other wheel sensors is possibly going bad. If its not that, then there could be a problem with the computer/module. I don't know what the best method for testing the module.
Lol pretty sure that was unrelated. I have a random issue with that one that I've never figured out, but it's pretty rare so it hasn't bothered me much.
I got the same issue but now the car wont start im getting the code 01314 wich is no communication with the ECM. Did you by any chance run into a similar issue? I have a 2016 jetta 1.4t mt transmission
I'm not sure about that code. I have a no communication issue with the module for the instrument cluster but not the ECM itself. I haven't taken the time to look into the communication issues so unfortunately I couldn't' tell you what's best to chase that down.
I have a 2015 Passat TDI and am having the same issue except mine is random. It goes off for a few drives, no issues then randomly comes on while I'm driving, then the next time I start it, it comes on again and yes I'm also having issues with the transmission jumping or just having delayed shifts. I was scared my transmission was going out but this gives me hope lol last time it was scanned I was told the front right needed to be replaced so im going to try that.
Mine started out like that. Then the lights stayed on all the time, but the shifting issue was still random. Good chance swapping out that front right sensor will fix your problem.
I had took my Jetta to a shop, to change 2 front struts, and 2 front ball joints I got my car back and it has all of these lights. Also my speedometer isn’t working with the lights on is this what yours did? They charged me 1700 just for those items. I have 0 lights on and now my engine light is on too.
I believe the Speedo not working could be bad Wheel Speed Sensors, but I'm not 100% sure. With the work you had done it would seem likely that they either left a sensor unplugged, or damaged one. I would expect you to have warning lights like what I had though. You should take it back to the shop and have them scan it and fix whatever they broke.
I drive a 2012 GTI & I’m having all the same lights come on my dash but I’m not experiencing any gear hunting issues & no traction or braking issues as far as I can tell. I’m hoping it’s just a broken sensor or wire rip near the sensor, or I might just need new rotors and pads.
Best to scan to see what all codes you're getting. It's probably a bad sensor that just isn't giving you the other issues. Brakes may, or may not be related to VSS issues.
I did not have any vibration. Sounds like you may have a warped rotor. I would think significant enough vibration could certainly damage the sensor, or cause faulty readings.
I can't remember where I ordered it now. I know it was aftermarket, don't remember which brand. OE part is like $140 Something like this rear set on Amazon might be good option: amzn.to/3Dgyusr ECStuning, FCP Euro, URO Tuning, and Europa parts are also all great resources for VAG parts, but some of them can be a little more expensive. If you've been through 3, have you scanned the car to make sure you're replacing the correct sensor?
My Jetta is doing this after I got it back from the shop I have all of these lights. Also my speedometer stopped working with the lights on. Smh. Did your speedometer stop working also?
The Speed Sensor, TPS, and ABS module are all different things. If you're getting the code for the wheel speed sensor then I would start with replacing that first. If you only code is the ABS module then that is most likely your problem.
I just had my rotors and break pads replaced. 3 days later my abs module/ speed sensor lights came on. What were the codes you got? And how did you find out it was the sensor and not the module?
00287 was the wheel sensor code I got. I also had 18255 Transmission Code that there was an ABS Fault. I just started with cleaning the sensor because it's the more common issue, and it's was cheapest/easiest to do.
www.ross-tech.com/ . . . It's a VAG-COM, much more than just a basic OBD II scanner. If you have an VW/Audi car that you plan to work on, and keep for a long time it's well worth the price to buy.
I was getting the wrench too. The new sensor mostly took care of the problem, but I have had the trans act up a couple times since I replaced the sensor. I believe I have another sensor starting to go bad right now, so that is probably the reason.

Just a dead battery. $180 at the dealer, $60 install, $150 to reset the codes. $415 out the door. I know it is too much to spend, but a guy has to know his limitations!
@@troysheldon5539 Ouch. . If you're even the slightest bit computer savvy it might be worth investing the $200 in a Vag-Com. It's not difficult to use the basic functions, and pays for itself if it saves you one trip to the dealer.
@@VHickleGarage I will check it out. Thanks.
@@troysheldon5539 pretty harsh charging $150 to reset codes. They literally just have to push a button on The scanner. Maybe you should have spent that $150 and just bought a scanner for yourself. I got a blue driver for a hundred bucks that'll reset codes
Recently bought a 2011 Jetta myself, gas model...my dashboard looks just like this... smh Thanks so much for this video
Glad it helped! Very Annoying when the dash is lit up like this.
You're a GOD. I was having the SAME problems including the downshifting.
Thank You! Glad it was able to help you fix the problem.
@@VHickleGarage Did your transmission issue fix with this? AAMCO is telling me that the transmission output sensor is also going bad.
Did you get it fix
Helpful video, I ended up finding to cuts in the wire going to by speed sensor. Caused every light almost on the dash to be on.
That will definitely cause it too! Hopefully you found that before buying a new sensor.
This worked for me. I have the same 2011 Jetta sport wagen Thanks for video. In my case I did both rear wheel speed sensors and the break pads. I mean I had to take the wheel off anyway,,,Thanks again
Glad it helped! At least you were able to get everything done at the same time.
Hello, what software did you use to find what the problem was? Thank you.
Everything in this video was correct . Strangely it was also my right rear ABS sensor that was faulty but I am driving on the left in the UK . Also had issues with transmission as discussed and automatic gear shift .
I'm not sure RHD or LHD would have much to do with which sensor goes bad. Seems to be a very common VW issue for all of us.
my car wont shift into 3rd, or 5th and no reverse! no speed sensor codes, but speedometer has been sporadic and my issues arises after a car wash.
Yes, all of the symptoms you described in this video are exactly what I'm having related to the bad wheel speed sensor. This is the second time I've had one go bad on my 2016 GTI and the symptoms are exactly the same as the first time, exactly the same as this video. Thank you for sharing.
Great video, thank you for doing it.
Thank you! Hope it was helpful.
GREAT VIDEO! This is really good guide to me. thanks.
Glad it helped!
Proud (and brave) owner of Scirocco 1.4 tsi petrol engine here...
Hello! My testimony after this thorough and simple video (which I gratefully thank you for putting out!):
- sensor replaced: lights still on;
- magnetic ring wheel bearing replaced (it was needed and to further troubleshoot): lights still on.
Since live data showed that rear left wheel sensor was soundingly collecting data and no diagnosis errors report other than right wheel:
- Still need to check cables from rear left wheel up to abs control unit and if anomaly isn't from there, need to check fuses, voltage/power/etc from that end.
...this is an exhaustive process since I'm not a mechanic and these darn lights started their Christmas by themselves after 1 year of routine driving with no issue whatsoever...
@@marcelosilva9429 Got it. Hopefully it's just a small short in that rear right wiring. 🤞
really helpful, thank you for this video so much my car was doing this and i took it to a mechanic and he said that it needs a lot of stuff which really scared me but after seeing this video i did it myself and everything is working great now thank you!
Awesome, glad to hear it saved you from a bunch of expensive and unnecessary repairs!!
Thank you
Thank you! It's called VCDS. ross-tech.com/
That gear shifting issue you described at the end of the video sounds like the vehicle is going into limp mode, which is intended since the car can't read wheel speed due to the faulty sensor.
I have this problem now , my car is in limp mode. All my lights on my dash board
@@vbvb7490 I'm having the same problem after changing a wheel bearing. Did you get this issue sorted out?
Almost 80% of VW/AUDI owners have this issue for soon or later !
So it’s including me for twice, one has happened on my 20 years old Audi but solved after cleaning up yeah run fine till now on , and now it has happened to my newest audi week ago and I’m going to clean up the ABS sensor first next weekend because after cleared up all codes it’s still come on again after driving and limping too ! This new indirect TPMS system I must hate it so … and I believe the culprit is ABS sensor itself !
Good video I have the same issue transmission acting up my abs broke
Great video, thanks for sharing! If the ABS light is on, it possible to find which ABS sensor is defective with a simple OBD scanner?
Thank You. I think you might be able to with a generic scanner, but I'm really not sure. I've never used anything but the Vag Com since I have it.
Great video. Recent has this exact issue on my 15 Jetta TDI. Gonna change out the sensors & update after i do.

Thanks for posting this, local VW dealer was trying to scam my GF out of $400 bucks to do this lol
Glad to help! Sadly I don't think that's even the highest quote someone has mentioned for this job.
Where did you get your ABS scanner for your laptop can you give me a link
Did you use a regular obdII monitor?
@@joewaltz2709 it was an OBDeleven
Thank you
Thank you Sir.
You're welcome!
Hola tengo un gli 2013 con el mismo problema pero como sabes de qué llanta es el problema ?
What brand/type of code OBDII reader are you using? I need something that will point me to the correct sensor.
I use a VAG-COM from Ross Tech. It's what you need to get VAG specific codes and interact with the modules.
I'm in North Pinellas. I don't usually do work for hire, but If you're still having issues with the sensor I may be able to help.
I got the same exact lights on !
Great video thank you. We’re can I get the code reader wire ? Do you need any special software to use it?
Thank You! ross-tech.com/ They offer the software for free but you do have to buy the cable. It's a little pricey, but well worth the investment if you're going to keep the vehicle for a while. One saved trip to the shop and it pays for itself..
Thank you for your reply
Thanks alot I have the exact issue.
Glad it was able to help!
I believe each sensor is unique. You'll need to make sure it's a rear sensor. This one for my 2011 Jetta says it's a rear set: amzn.to/3KzSBTO
@@VHickleGarage gotcha thank you
hey thanks this looks like what i need
No problem. Most likely, it is a very common issue.
awesome video!
I'm not entirely sure. It could be something to do with the computer. Have you scanned it again since replacing all the sensors?
Thanks for the video. I have been facing a similar issue with my 2011 Passat. The lights on the dashboard only come up when in a long drive +200 miles, then, if the car is stopped for a while, when restarted the error is usually cleaned from the dashboard. I'm not sure what is the root of the issue in my case.
My issue started off like that. Then eventually the lights stayed on all the time, until I replaced the sensor.
Same issue with vw cc 2012
The problem is that when i stop for a little while the error cleaned and the diagnostic scanner can not see any errors.
I'm about to go chasing a new fuel leak myself. . .
Thanx!
Hi, where did you buy your abs stuff from?
Mine is a vw touran 1.4 tsi 2012 and I'm getting the same problems.
The sensor I just bought off amazon. Link is in the description. For the code reader its a VAG-COM from Ross Tech.
@@VHickleGarage thanks
What codes did you get for the wheel speed sensor? and how did you which one it was??
I got code 00287. In VCDS it said "ABS Wheel Speed Sensor, Right Rear" so it was pretty straightforward.
Hey thanks for the video same issue here . the light indicator for light bulbs whent out too ?
Hey man!! Thanks for the video, quick question… what’s the program you are using to scam your car with your computer?
i used VCDS with a VAG-COM cable from Ross Tech. Well worth the money!
Same issue here. Wondering if you felt vibration in the brake (before the warning lights activated) prior to the sensor replacement?
I did not have any vibration. Sounds like you may have a warped rotor. I would think significant enough vibration could certainly damage the sensor, or cause faulty readings.
@@VHickleGarage you could be right. However, when the abs light activates the vibration stops.
I did
Where did you order your speed sensor from? Having a hard time finding the one I need. Been thru 3 already that didn't work.
@@VHickleGarage ok cool. Yeah VW is trying to charge me 160 plus tax for one. Thanks bro.

I'm having the issues with everything you mentioned but my code is a faulty is Abs module could it be the same as tps sensor?
The Speed Sensor, TPS, and ABS module are all different things. If you're getting the code for the wheel speed sensor then I would start with replacing that first. If you only code is the ABS module then that is most likely your problem.
Thanks!!!!
No problem!
Glooks homie
I just had my rotors and break pads replaced. 3 days later my abs module/ speed sensor lights came on. What were the codes you got? And how did you find out it was the sensor and not the module?
00287 was the wheel sensor code I got. I also had 18255 Transmission Code that there was an ABS Fault. I just started with cleaning the sensor because it's the more common issue, and it's was cheapest/easiest to do.
Where did you buy that OBD2 diagnostic tool?
www.ross-tech.com/ . . . It's a VAG-COM, much more than just a basic OBD II scanner. If you have an VW/Audi car that you plan to work on, and keep for a long time it's well worth the price to buy.
What software do you have on your laptop for the codes?
I'm using a VAG-COM cable with VCDS software from Ross Tech.
Did the issue with your transmission get fixed? I am the issue where the little wrench shows up on my gear indicator almost everyday now
I was getting the wrench too. The new sensor mostly took care of the problem, but I have had the trans act up a couple times since I replaced the sensor. I believe I have another sensor starting to go bad right now, so that is probably the reason.
Did u happen to get the regular abs wheel speed sensor or the one with ads
This was the sensor I used: amzn.to/3gm3nyS
