I did manage to successfully test the sensor with diode test on the fluke and had a descrepancy between a working and faulty sensor, this allowed me to 100% diagnose a faulty sensor
good video, i replaced the sensor like an idiot without properly checking and it turned out to be a faulty ring on the hub and smashed the new sensor too. Bought two sensors and a hub and problem resolved at least
What the autoscan is for is to find out which modules are present in your car. Then you can make a scan list that is specific to your car which makes subsequent scans almost instantaneous rather than taking more than 2 hours. (I use VAG CAN PRO which may not be as good as vcds at knowing what protocols to scan etc and therefor may take longer to do the auto scan). Thanks for the clear explanation as to what tools are needed to remove the sensor.
Excellent instructional video. Thanks . I have a Yeti with the same lights on + " Bend lights. All I am told point towards a faulty battery or abs sensor. New battery didn't cure it so new sensor ( FNS) on order .
So because they are active wheel speedsensors no point doing a resistance ohms test on the sensor unit itself. They must be powered with 12v to work correctly.
Hi Craig, took my golf6 for a diagnosis check since the Abs error shows on my dashboard but the test does not specify exactly the sensors which have fault, does it mean that I should change all of them?
Hi Craig, I messaged you about my mondeo going into high revs on start up, I realise this is not applicable to this video but could not find your original reply, I replaced the IACV and as you suggested look for vacume leaks. It seems to be coming from around the coil pack area any suggestions.
Hello craig, I own a golf r mk6 2013 model, Recently i have replaced all brake pads and rear break discs, Since then I started getting intermittent break workshop message plus the traction light comes on, and now the abs light is on the whole time + the message, we had heavy rains recently, i visited an electrician and informed me that the abs module needs replacement and am not convinced, any ideas ?
@@xxwalhalaxxmozza7415 my break caliper seized too. Had to replace it. I think it may have been caused by brake dust. Will try to fix my abs sensor. Maybe some cleaning will help.
most likely due to brake being seized and heat killing off the sensor or bad bearing moving and rubbing against the sensor. Mine was also bad on rear left side with seized caliper bracket
So relieved to hear this. My caddy van had me seriously considering buying a bicycle until the weather got so cold recently. im owner seat leon 2012 and i have problem with the tpms system about the tyre pressure. the light for tyre presure is ON and dosent respont when i put the tyre check botton. is that the sensor for this problem?
From my understanding it may be related. Some cars have separate abs and tpms sensors. But apparently some detect low tire pressure with the same sensor when the wheel speeds are constantly different and VW seems to do this on some cars.
@@CraigsDIY yup first thing I did was check tire pressure. Now I got the codes confirming it's an ABS sensor signal issue so going to replace. Thanks for the vid!
Were you able to fix it? I have the same issue, replaced the sensors and after turning it on i got abs, traction control, brake, airbag and the power steering as new one
If you need a sensor too, try Amazon ~
USA: amzn.to/49bddgl
UK: amzn.to/3SCrEEZ
last time I had an ABS issue I tried various sources for a senor before eventually paying the higher VW prices for an instant fix
Excellent video, very thorough and comprehensive! I especially liked the tips on how to use VCDS to check the functioning of the wheel speed sensors.

So a faulty abs sensor can trigger the abs, esc, tyre pressure light, start/stop, handbrake, Acc, parking sensors lights?
mine triggered a fault in the drivers door and media center. easy fix though.
Thanks that was helpful information. I think that's what is going on with my VW Jetta
Hi Craig, I'm also Craig.. also wanting to remove this clip for separate reasons.. thanks for your help..
Nice matey, I had the exact fault codes. The sensor out and cleaned them up as they were covered in crap 😎🤓🇩🇪🤙🏽
Well made video and great explanation, liked and subbed ! 😃

Great video tutorial, thanks for sharing.
Very helpful, thanks.👍
Much appreciated.
Great video!
Yours went at 39k, mine went at 41k.
VW were reliable once, eh. Now another at 49k....
I've since discovered a problem with the brake on this wheel which is generating a bit of warmth, so it may be the extra heat that killed this one.
Nice new VW
Very useful, thank you. Which 'Reader' do you use please?
VCDS
Hi can the VCDS Pin point which sensor is at fault or does it only tell you there is a general abs fault?
@agentcarbunkle, yes VCDS can tell which sensor is bad.
I get 10.90v on the multi meter a bit strange
Hi Craig, took my golf6 for a diagnosis check since the Abs error shows on my dashboard but the test does not specify exactly the sensors which have fault, does it mean that I should change all of them?
Any scan will refer to specific sensor circuits if that's the issue. The module knows which is which.

So far so good...

Hi Craig, my scirocco is showing 11.4 V do you think this is close enough to your 11.7? Thanks
Probably. Check another known good one.
The stupid rear left sensor seems to be the first to die on most VAG vehicles, I wonder why though. Great vid btw
Same here 2016 golf gtd 39k. Turning out to be quite unreliable. Had it since 3 yrs old. Always electric faults
