FYI - I tried this and it worked, but when I was trying to drive up an icy street, I heard a cluck at the back of my vehicle. The transmission stopped working. I turned the vehicle off then restarted it. The transmission worked fine, but I could not turn traction control off. I do appreciate this video.
i got a manual mk5 gti and when i long press the esp button my traction light is just pulsing, i’m not sure if it’s supposed to stay on instead of pulsing
@@awkwardjacuzzi8828 I ended up actually contacting the dealer and he said the 2017 had that feature completely removed. But sadly that vehicle was totaled a month ago in a pileup so 😭🫡
I tried the same in polo gt but after putting the gear lever in D and driving over 5 kmph all the esp and abs light turned off in the instrument cluster and the esp turned on automatically
It's a temp override; more useful for snow/ice situations when the ESC over modulates power output (throttle). If you have access to VAGCOM or an equivalent scan tool capable of long coding (I use a foxwell nt510 elite), some VW models can be coded off permanently. Not only that, but there are a number of other "features" that can be enabled/disabled, ie rolling windows up/down via key fob, convenience signal flash count (oe is 3, can be altered up to 5 I believe), a pretty gauge sweep during initial on-ignition, etc. I posted an older forum discussion about long coding ESC off on the main comments section of this video if you desire to read more about it 👍
Mine turns off by default when I turn on the car it just flashes the tmps light and the esc light stays on. It happen first while driving on the highway and the car seems to run fine since then but I'm having trouble figuring out what is wrong
Jetta 2009When I want to turn off the ESP, the side on the dash turns off, but before I touched the button once, the dash remained on, but now it flashes and goes off, if anyone knows the reason, please tell me, there is no hatch code
see how cars have become more and more complicated and users dont even notice it creeping up, like the incoming tide. I remember when you just got in cars and drove them without any silly warning light nonsense
@@frameofmind229 yeah the only way to turn it off completely is buying the traction control button from usp motorsports for like a little over $100, not worth it unless you got money money like that😂
