Yep. My great-grand mother was born when the Kongo Kingdom disband. Lots of African-Americans in Georgia and Louisiana are also Kongo. But most other African Americans are West African, mostly Nigerian. :)
The kikongo from Angola is very different from the kikongo spoken in Congo Kinshasa. Your kikongo sounds more like lingala.!!! But I liked it.!!! Loves from Angola...
Can you please teach me.. I am born in Namibia but my mom was from Angola she spoke Kikongo and her parents are from DRC too bad they all passed on now.
To be honest, most of african people from subSaharian region (Nigeria to South África) are some Congo ancestry. My parents from Angola talk kikongo, they can recognize a lot of similar words with zhulu. In 90's an angolan singer had success in Nigeria because some people there could understand what he sing in umbundu a mother tongue of some people from the center of Angola and we supposed that we'are so far from nigerian people such geograficaly, anthropologicaly or culturaly 😎 The colonization have imposed and still trying to separate african people because we're much close than we suppose to be according to the studies that they "identify" ourselves as a differents people and cultures...We're a really big african family, our mother tongues can prouve that 🤷🏾♀️ So from Sahara to Kalahari...much love and respect with our brothers and sister...stop hate our similar, we're african. Hello Moninga new subscriber in here! I enjoyed learning to speak Kikongo. As a Congolese/Angolan woman I only know how to speak Lingala, Portuguese & French from my childhood in England but not I never spoken Kikongo before. Today is my first time to learn the Kikongo language. I'm happy that I found your video! Merci Moninga. Keep up the good work sis! 🤗🇨🇩🇦🇴
I have a question.. what is the language closet to the original Kongo language? I want to learn how to speak it but I’d rather go with the mother of mothers language from Kongo. Lol please help
We can't exactly tell as the different dialects evolved in their own ways but the kimanianga, kilari(lari) or kisundi are at equal distance to all the different dialects so it will be easier to understand everything. You can also begin with with kituba, the Kikongo creole, you'll be understood everywhere
Literally one of the reasons why im here is because i replayed the game and just searched “kikongo” to see how many MGS fans i can find in the comments
Siemi, Sister. Question. Can you confirm whether "kusabi" means restoration. If it does, are there variations on the word like Sabi or Kisabi or Kousabi?
The kongo kingdom ended because the Portuguese came and started enslaving Kongolese people which at point took over hence why Angola today speaks Portuguese.
@@e_m8688 but wasn't it due to conflicts and misunderstanding among kongo people too Like what was our religion before Christianity which Portuguese came along with
There are slight similarities with your native language and isiXhosa which is one of the Nguni languages of South Africa. Like Wednesday for us is Lwesithathu(similar to nagatatu). Languages are fascinating.

was it its people?, foreign interaction?, mix religions ?
