Brother, this is the most concise, detailed, and thorough explanation that I have EVER seen of ANYTHING on UA-cam. Major props to you. Hope to see ya around soon.
Hey @terrence that means alot to hear 🙏. Still trying to figure out how to get better and I really appreciate the feedback when it looks like im going the right direction (and sometimes when im not). 😅
Man, I just watched this video and then proceeded to watch a lot of your other videos all afternoon. What a great job all the information and detail that you share is just incredible. I could not be more happy with your channel. I'm a new subscriber and keep up the good work by the way I'm about ready to get my C8 so I'm looking forward to dueling a lot of the mods that you've done take care man and again thanks
Im super glad you find these videos useful! 😁😎👍thanks for subscribing and the encouragement! It really means alot to hear! 🙏 Congrats on your upcomming C8! Your gunna love it!
Thank you for the feedback! 🙏 Glad it was useful! I saw it was a challenge finding a detailed how-to for depining the connector specifically and so glad it was worth the time making it as clear as possible to help everyone out! 😎👌
I have a c8 Z06 without front and lift and I'm wondering is it possible to adjust the coilovers without removing the dust cover sleeve that sits over the threads. I'm not looking to lower it all that much just about a quarter of an inch or half an inch. And if I'm corner balancing the car I don't want to have to remove that sleeve every time. Thanks
Hey Nic B thanks for the comment. So for your case, youll need to go with lowering springs. The Z51 suspension is a coilover systen which makes it adjustable with the wrenches. Standard suspension doesnt have that. The lowering springs would be the primary option both if you have or dont have mag ride on a nonz51. Hope that helps!
so i have 20s on the front and 21s in the rear. I went with 255/30/20 tire sizes for the front and 325/30/21 for the rear. You make the clearance but itll be a tight fit on the rear tire. Id recommend the 325/25/21 for the rear tires just to give the extra room. Lowering your C8 though will help with the clearance actually as it will center the wheel better in the wheel well compared to stock height. Let me know if you have extra questions.
Amazing video Carlos. Thank you so much for all your hard work. You may or may not the answer to this question however... I ordered aftermarket rims for my C8. They are factory sized but offset to where they stick out further than factory to be inline with the fender. Does this come in to play when lowering? So in other words will the wheels potentially rub the fenders? Thanks
Hey Stan thanks for the comment! I dont believe you'll run into issues if yourbstaying the same size but going slightly wider as my aerolarri wheels are an inch larger along with being wider as well. In fact by lowering your C8, youllactually be making the wheels fit more centered on the wheels wells which will help your clearance. Have a good one! 👍😎
Excellent video!!. After driving for a while, how is it?. BOS just did a video on his lowered C8 ( with lowering Springs). After watching his video, I’m not going to lower my C8 as much as he did. Do you find the 3/4 inch to be the sweet spot?
Hey Mark thanks for the comment! The lowered height on mine has worked great with pretty much no issues whatsoever. The ride feels great still and overall handles really well when pushing it. I think the answer on the correct lowering height comes down to what kind of final wheels size your using and whether aftermarket or oem. For me personally, I dont think id go personally lower than my lowered height at 3/4" but thats because I like how my wheels specifically fit and going the extra size up both front and in the back. But if i went with a different wheel size or stance, I think Mikes height works great too. Have a good one!
I'm on stock z51 coilovers and for the life of me I cannot get the black plastic sleeve to unhitch from the bottom perch. Even when using a razer-thin metal pry tool that easily gets in there. over 30 years of working on BMWs and subarus and this one thing has defeated me lol
The front lift actuator has a bleeder screw at the top. I would gravity bleed it to prevent any air getting caught in the system. Hydraulic systems should always be bled to prevent cavitation imo.
I decided to go back at it and I got spring compressors and it’s still the same issue. The entire strut looks like it’s staying still but the spring is moving with the perch and then pulling it back. I desperately need help 😭
Hey vict thanks for the comment. Depending, you may be able to get away with using a spring compressor to just maintain a slight compression of the springs and make it easier to move that top sprocket down without the whole thing turning. Either that or using some more vice grips and duct tape to try and get a better grip and/or keep certain sections from moving also. Hope that helps! 👍
@@NuHorizonC8 I am currently sitting here looking at my car half raised half lowered… I already did the driver side and it took some struggle but all in all it was simple. For some reason no matter what the passenger side will not cooperate. I think I am going to raise the drivers side back up for the time being lol
@@victorcabanas7191 trust me when i say i ran into the same issue. The best thing i found was using a compression tool to slightly compress the spring. That helped ALOT but if you dont have one then i can understand where your coming from. Best i can say is using extra ducttape to try and help hold it in place while you have the vice grip over. I ended up also using a pair of extra wide pliers instead of the vice grip so i could get even more grip strength to hold it down as I was turning. I will say its gunna be just as hard placing the sprocket back on the side you just lowered. Id keep going if you can. Good luck either way.
@@NuHorizonC8 i think I will keep going. I’m doing spacers and lowering so I gave up on it for a second lol. I have taken springs off strut towers before but they were off the car. Am I going to be able to compress it while it’s on? Also I have the z51 + electronic front lift do I need to buy the collars too? Thank you for your timely responses you’ve been more help than all of google combined!!!!
@victorcabanas7191 yeah youll need the front collars or lowering springs to lower the front. The front lift system removed the ability to lower with sprockets on the front. Keep in mind if you do lowering collars theres a risk of warranty issues if your front lift ends up failing. Im glad the videos help! Keep it up!

Subscribing simply for the fact you took the time to animate the depinning sequence. Great work.

Good work! very indepth! Glad i went Z51 w/magride and no front lift! so much easier!
Thanks for the comment and compliment! 👍😎 yeah not having the front lift makes it waaay easier for sure!

question what size rims and tires do you have your vette? I had the kit since April of last year but haven't put it on my car yet.

Did you bleed the front lift after? I don't think it has an auto bleed feature?
Hey Derek. I did not have to bleed the front lift after and it still functions fine.

Why would you want to lower a z51 sports suspension? isnt it already low??? and bumpy?
Top passenger perch won’t move. No matter what I do it tries to spin the whole coil, even with a vice grip. Any ideas?
