Wow, they pretty much knew how they wanted Phoebus to look from the beginning. lol The first few Esmereldas were so gorgeous! Well, they were all pretty good. But I am happy with what they settled with. I don't think they could have drawn Quasi any other way than the final design. He'd either be too creepy for children or too normal to fit with the theme of the film. Frollo...yeah, the first designs were way too obviously creepy. No one would let him be in power, even for a second.
I'm not sure you'd like it as much as the Hunchback, considering I don't, but the Man Who Laughs is pretty amazing despite the slowness. It's about a man whose face is permanently disfigured to smile and a blind girl is in love with him, but Victor takes his time getting to the plot.
I have those fire ones on my computer! ^_^ Some of those Frollo ones are nothing like him, though... barrel chested, balding with grey hair... burning eyes... I love him so much. XD Some of the Quasi ones are amazing, too. Thanks for recommending this! I would have responded sooner but I broke my foot... I'm gonna study now, but I really want to see the concept places... I'll watch it soon. ^_^ Take care!
Whoa... there are no words in world to say how glad i am that they didn't go with the early designs for Quasimodo. In the final version he looks intentionally ugly, but not enough to be scary. The first one looks like some Gollum rip off and creeps me .-.
wow, Quasimodo looked really ugly in the concept art, well I know that's kinda the point, but in the final version yes, he's ugly but he looks so cute and hugable
@MissRachel15 I agree though with Frollo one of the arts has the hat he wears I love this vid it's cool to see how they developed. =D And with Esmerelda it she had her poofy hair throughout. It also had the concept for the fire and the pole dance thing.
the Phoebus at 4:53 looks a lot like John Smith. i like the Esmeralda ones.
3:18 Judge Frollo ❤🖤💜🔥

The 15 art of Quasimodo looks like what I've imagine the novel one would look like
I like how they took little things from here and there. From nearly everyones concept art.
Tony Fucile did such a great job with Esmeralda
I Agree.
Man, Clopin used to look creepy...now he's hot :D
Alissa A. Lol same

The Frollo at 6:27 looked like the Red Death.
it appears at the hunchback of notre dame DVD edition!!!!
great job!
Coplin look s pretty
love it and i love the 2nd picture of Esme and phoebus, he looks more handsome than in the movie
the 1st pic of Quasimodo looks really Grotesque
I realize that even with the ugly characters Disney still makes them cute (Quasimodo)
I like the Quasi that they used in the film much better than the concept art.

I just love frollo 3.56
The one for a little picture you mentioned is almost like the finished work for the final film

The gargoyles they stuck with work with the film, the others seemed way too creepy.
