I'm glad that they still modified this and put it into the musical. It might have been a bit odd to keep it in the movie, but it's so beautifully heartbreaking on stage ugh. I love it
Unpopular opinion: I think this is a sweet song and at least heartwarming to see all of the other gypsies accept Quasi and see him transition to accepting Esmeralda and Phoebus's romance.
This had to have been from an earlier draft where they're not trying to warn everyone that Frollo is on his way and intends to capture/kill them because these guys would be wasting so much time trying to shoehorn their own "A Whole New World" song and dance number in there. Still, this is a fascinating look at the movie's production!
Oh, man! That was the most beautiful love song I ever heard! I wish they didn’t remove. Yet it could’ve been added in the 2002 edition, like “Human Again” for Beauty and the Beast, and “If I Never Knew You” for Pocahontas.
Thank you so much for posting this deleted song; I understand why they couldn’t keep it in the film but I’m so glad I found this video - it’s become a very special song to me. I come back every so often to listen to the beautiful music and lyrics, and it always makes me tear up. It’s lovely to see the rough storyboards as well. Thank you for sharing it with us! ❤
With such talent this was such a wasted opportunity it’s so sappy that even a romcom director would be like “get a room” thank God this didn’t pass the storyboard phase
4:52 Wanna know something kinda cursed? this scene right here was re-used in the crappy sequel. I sware! Quasi looks inti the reflection and sees a “handsome” version of himself. Its almost eree how alike these two scenes are from nearly 20 years apart. 😂😂
This is such place in accordance to the pace of the film. They just told everyone that Frollo is coming. We have no time for this dancing and lovey stuff! I'm glad they rewrote it for the musical. I would like to see a anniversary edition of the movie with the rewritten song in it.
While it's a nice song with our characters, I have to agree with the fact that it does take away from the movie because it seems out of characters. Although I do enjoy hearing Heidi and Paul again. They have beautiful voices, it still feels awkward.
I'm glad they left this out; as pretty as it is, it's a bit hamfisted and at odds with the tone of the movie. What exactly's going on towards the end, though? It looks like Quasimodo has a brief vision of himself undeformed and dancing with Esmeralda, which is heartbreaking as shit.
Here's my cast for "The Alicorn of Notre Dame" Twilight Sparkle: Quasimodo Princess Cadance: Esmeralda Shining Armor: Captain Phoebus Rainbow Dash: Victor Applejack: Hugo Fluttershy: Laverne King Sombra: Judge Claude Frollo
It's a cute song, but it doesn't fit Esmeralda and Phoebus' characters or the overall atmosphere of the movie. I mean, singing this after witnessing Frollo burning half of Paris? It's more a song for a couple like Jasmine and Aladdin, or Ariel and Eric and their movies. Happy they kept it out.
I like this song, but I agree it was wise to cut it. "A Guy Like You" already throws a wrench in the overall tone of the film. This would have buried it. The "Court of Miracles" song fits MUCH better in terms of story and pacing.
I don't see how this song could have not ruined the movie. They came to warn about Frollo coming, and they sing this absurdly cheesy love song and dance and daydream and frolic around. Maybe the script was a bit different at the time the song was written and they were in the Court of Miracles for a different reason (that didn't involve warning about Frollo). This song works much, much better in the stage version.
I dont think its bad. Most of the songs of disney are cheesy. lol. I just wish they add this song and as long as theres a moon in Notra Dame 2 ... so i can see a singing Phoebus. 😄 I
It’s a nice song but I don’t see how it could have fit in the final movie, knowing that Frollo was coming this song it would be out of place. Maybe it could have been reworked in a different scene. Maybe if Frollo hadn’t told Quasi that he was going to the court of miracles, and just followed him and arrived in surprise, then the scene would have worked. But then what would lead Quasi and Phoebus to leave Notre Dame and go to the court of miracles to begin with?
I'm glad that they still modified this and put it into the musical. It might have been a bit odd to keep it in the movie, but it's so beautifully heartbreaking on stage ugh. I love it
Jesus Christ, this could quite possibly be the sappiest song I've ever listened to. I'm glad they rewrote the lyrics for the musical.
Agreed. The musical version is one of my favorite pieces from the show.
pfff! i was not expecting to read that 😂😂 Yea its sappier than maple syrup but I like alopt of it, minus certain akward bits lol.
Seems like Quasimodo may have not found true love but he is a great friend.

I love this song and I'm so happy it was in the on stage version ❤️

Interesting footage, but I'm glad they cut this. The finished film makes the point this song is trying to make much more effectively. Less is more.

4:36 This line here I think is implying that Quasi woule learn more of his family and Ramoni routes. Man i wish we saw that!!
With such talent this was such a wasted opportunity it’s so sappy that even a romcom director would be like “get a room” thank God this didn’t pass the storyboard phase
I’m so glad this was cut. This (almost) makes “A Guy Like You” sounds good.
Wow, when he's not deformed, Quasimodo practically looks normal.
But it’s what we see inside of Quasimodo,
And in his heart.🥹
On the one hand, I’m glad they brought this song back for the musical. On the other hand, thank God they rewrote it, the original is terrible!

Way too long and cheesy, but a scene of Quasimodo seeing his undeformed reflection would have been heart breaking

Aww Clopin

While the love song is definitely sappy and very out of place here, I wish they kept the toast to Quasimodo. That was an appropriately sweet moment.
I thought I could the deleted songs like this on DVD, but I can’t seem to find it.
Is that Kevin Kline singing for Phoebus or someone else who sounds like him?
one of the best 👌

Exactly
Here's my cast for "The Alicorn of Notre Dame"
Twilight Sparkle: Quasimodo
Princess Cadance: Esmeralda
Shining Armor: Captain Phoebus
Rainbow Dash: Victor
Applejack: Hugo
Fluttershy: Laverne
King Sombra: Judge Claude Frollo
nice cast
Thanks.
If you think this version is sad, u should listen to the off-Broadway version. It's much more depressing than this one.
They should have kept this in the, movie is too short

Love can work, it’s alchemy LOL
Geez i like most of this but i hate the "Quasi's true reflection isnt deformed" thing
It would be cool if we get the chance to see what Quasi would look like if he was normal
You get to see it in the Sequel, but I don't recommend the Sequel it is horrible.
@@sebastianboydtagle0751 I know and they did quasimodo bad

they altered this song in the stage musical to make it fit better. making it more about acceptance than love.

Good lord those lyrics are cheesy I should pour it on chips 😆 good thing they fixed it in the musical.

Yeah even if they don’t know he’s following them directly, don’t they still think a frollo and his genocidal army is coming in a few hours?
Did anyone notice that the starting melody is similar to Aladdin's "A Whole New World"?
They had the same composer.
Ya, it does sound somethin’ like that.
Why is there a fucking unicorn?!
LOL
