Bless you for keeping great music alive from the past....this band, Led Zeppelin, considered as The Greatest Rock n' Roll band EVER does it again. "The Rain Song" and "Achilles Last Stand" are Masterpieces of music!!! Enjoy!!!! Great reaction!!!
Yes! Their very very best album for me. Each song totally different and each one a masterpiece. In no way a standard “rock” album - so much more 😊 “Down by the Seaside” another one. Night Flight, Kashmir… ❤
Physical Graffiti is the name of this album. This song had several working titles, most notably "Everybody Makes It Through" but also "In The Morning" and "Take Me Home". As someone else mentioned, Jimmy added multi-tracked bowed acoustic guitar to the opening while Jonesy used a VCS synth. According to Jimmy, they always knew what the construction of song would be, however he had no idea Jonesy would craft such an amazing synthesizer intro. The beginning sounds almost like a call to prayer in the square of a far-off, ancient land as the synth notes snake in one ear and out the other to eerie effect. Then they lower the boom and it grinds into a gritty, slightly menacing groove from the depths of an almost sinister "somewhere". When the guitar comes in, it's almost like it gives the feeling of ascension; I definitely get the feeling of being lifted up out of the darkness and into the light. Zeppelin was never afraid to go to unexpected places. As far as the next Zep song, The Rain Song is my personal favorite from the group. Achilles is a powerhouse. Another suggestion would be Tea For One - it is an immaculate blues number and one that is not often suggested.
This is a great album to listen to by "record side", as you would on vinyl. The grouping of songs is so well done, that each record side seems like an album. Many of the songs on this album would be a hit single on an album with one or two hits, for other artists. But Zeppelin practically fills a double album with hits. 🤙😎
Achilles Last Stand live at Knebworth (1979). On the studio Page does 12 guitar overdubs, yet the kill it live. Or you could do both, live & studio, to see the difference. It’s a fast pace instrumental, which makes it great to watch live.
I came late to this song, but love it so much now. I haven't heard anyone ever notice that Bonham's at the end is absolutely nuts - he is tucked behind the guitar and keys kind of in the background and is just rocking out, never playing the same pattern - he switches it up each time.. Just awesome, entertaining every time I listen to it. The last part is just gorgeous.
The Rain Song must be done back to back with The Song Remains the Same, no pause, that's the way they were on the original album. The Song Remains the Same comes first. Even better is the live version from their live Madison Square Garden Show where they play them fantastically and also in that order and also with cool video accompanying.
Oh man i SO **LUV** that YOU **Value** them & that they are in your top 3 **Hopefully** #1 heh Ya fkn **ROCK** my man for the fact that YOU **Know** & **Appreciate** **Magical & Real** Music! YESSSSSS!!! **Keep REAL Music ALIVE**
Sooo happy to see you back with Zeppelin, thank you!! I can't even begin to tell you how happy your reactions to my lifelong favorite band make me! You keep me smiling all the way through and then to hear how you really get it! It's amazing! Excellent choices for your next reactions, but honestly you can't go wrong with Zep! I can't wait for the next one! ☮️❤️
While Zep is primarily blues rock and hard rock, they occasionally wander into the psychedelic rock realm, or at least psychedelic prog. This is a good example.
Agreed. I have always thought this was a better song than Kashmir. They play that dramatic riff without an orchestra like they have on Kasmir. And some of those soaring notes by Page near the end carry such trimphant emotion.
Try Stairway To Heaven live at Madison Square Garden 1973!! Also Achillies Last Stand live at knebworth in 1979! Then The Song Remains The Same/The Rain Song live TOGETHER at msg 1973. They are all MAGNIFICENT!!
A great pairing to listen to is "Bron-Yr-Aur/Down by the Seaside". The first is only 2 minutes, and leads into the second perfectly. Around 7 minutes total, of Zeppelin-style Folk/Country/Rock. 🤙😎
the instruments on this song>>>Electric guitars: Played by Jimmy Page Bass guitar: Played by John Paul Jones Drums: Played by John Bonham Synthesizer: Played by John Paul Jones Clavinet: Played by John Paul Jones with vocal peformances by Robert Plant.....the intro is sounds of India...world music influenced.Page plays the guitar like an Indian Tanmandal stringed instrument.
Such a great tune from the GOATS! MDreezy you should also watch (after hearing Achilles last stand) the recent video on "Drumeo" where they have a metal drummer Samus66 come and play what he thinks the drums would be as they play him that song minus the John Bonham drums until after he makes his version. It's fantastic watching these guys learn Led Zeppelin or Tool drum tracks for the first time!!
Should check out the Tears for Fears albums Elemental, from 1993 Raoul and the Kings of Spain , from 1995 And Everybody Loves A Happy Ending, from 2004 ( my personal favorite 😊
Check out Boogie with Stu too. Achilles last stand is phenomenal drumming from John. Robert's voice is so incredible I saw him live in Toronto in 89 with Stevie Ray Vaughn and he sounded amazing. Great reaction and Peace out 🙏 ✌️ ☮️

why is it so impossible for todays younger musicians not creating in such a way? is it purely down to greedy unloving music company's. But yes led zep rock folk masters. pink floyd etc.. yesterdays music was much better. more fulfilling
That generation grew up and learned music and playing before rock really existed. They had no one to copy. Today, people have heard Eddie Van Halen (for example) their entire lives, so the roots are different.
@@ilionreactor1079 I see a lot of women singers and men sound the same, they sing the same way. I would say there were so many terrific musicians back then you had to be good to even stand out.you had to create a different sound. its watered down so much now. autotune issue is only the tip of the sinking ship (hey that rhymes) I made a new song lol
I don't understand why everyone says to do the live version of "Achilles Last Stand", I think it's awful, the audio is terrible and Roberts voice cracks consistently, you really need to do the studio version, it's a much more enjoyable listen
Yep. Robert is one of the finest vocal interpreters of melody there has ever been. ✨
The sound at the intro is made by Jimmy Page bowing an acoustic guitar and John Paul Jones using synthesizer keys.
Awesome album awesome song...
too good!! I love Zep...
John Paul Jones - the silent assassin!

This song still gives me goosebumps. Put it up !... If you have a good system in your car , crank it !
It was a Synthesizer used in the song 👍 P.s. JPJ used the Bass pedals below the piano or keyboards.
Stunning, under-celebrated Zepic!!
"Zepic"! I like it
They are worthy of their own word mos def Zepic!!
Thank you😊

Bless you for reacting to this. Everybody needs the light! A triumphant song to quell darkness. Thank you!!
This tune always pulled me back from the brink of mortality when I was young. Feel good songs usually aren't so ominous and kick ass.

Live at Knebworth (1979)
@@sicotshit7068I AGREE!!
Please do a side-by-side reaction of Achilles Last Stand studio and live. Jimmy and Bonzo are both monsters on that track.

I’m excited to see him discover In My Time of Dying. Peak Zeppelin.
My favourite song .. even more than Kashmir !!!

Brilliant tune by the GOATS of rock. Don't forget about YES the GOATS of prog, On The Silent Wings of Freedom

Bro, please man you gotta turn your end up so we can hear it as loud as we want. Singed the GOATS. Thx man.
