This came out in 1969 btw. The speeding up section is called a Rave-Up. The line "Killing Floor" taken from an old Howlin' Wolf song. You caught the call and response between Robert and Jimmy. JPJ is just masterful on this one too.
I saw Page live at the Rochester, New York War Memorial in Rochester, New York, when he was the sole rhythm and lead guitarist with the Yardbirds right before he formed the New Yardbirds, soon to become Led Zeppelin. At one point, he pulled out a bow and got some of the weirdest sounds out of his electric guitar. I was witnessing the sounds of the future with Led Zeppelin! Amazing!
Greatest 4 musicians ever brought together. Page and John Paul Jones are probably the best at layering different sounds in the studio, Jimmy Page is an absolute brilliant Master at overdubbing.
Yes, they talk to each other with their instruments! Their instruments sing as well! They are the goat❣️ ❤ These guys are really in sinc too❣️ one of a kind. Im a Led-head from the 70's til today❣️
I think you are the only one to have made the comment about the guitar questioning/commenting on what Plant says. There's also some 'call and response' between Plant's singing and Page's guitar after that. I love the bass rhythms and variations in this song including speed changes. I love that you had to check what year we are in now.
Saw Robert Plant in Auckland, New Zealand in 1983, his first tour after Led Zeppelin disbanded. He was in complete denial regarding Zeppelin and flatly refused to do any Zeppelin songs on the tour, but I remember at some time between two songs he said "til the juice runs down my legs" (a line from this song) and everybody went wild. His only reference to Zeppelin at the time.
This is such a dirty bluesy song. You shook me is a must my friend. Peace out. Hear Jimmy on the guitar pure genius. Peace out ✌️ ☮️ And that bass from JPJ and Bonzo going nuts on the drums crazy talent. Peace out ✌️ ☮️
This is the meaning of poetry, musically but just as important verbally. Heavy censorship during this time and STILL they couldn't stop this song "he's just talking about squeezing a lemon" who had the dirty mind. Such an important song of the day.
I hear you, I've been listening to them since I was an adolescent (thanks to my older brother who was first to buy their albums when they were released) and to this day I'm still amazed at what I hear. It's freaking incredible and timeless music.
This has always been one of my favorites primarily because of just how much it highlights the mastery of JPJ on Bass. He has always been so underrated only because of who he played with, although he was so important to their sound. Put him in any other band of the '70s and the entire world would know his name.
Robert plant and Jimmy Page is what you call call and response is when Plant sings a line and Jimmy calls back with his guitar! Zeppelin are still the goats after 50 years!!!
As you listen to their catalogue you will find Led Zeppelin, unlike many bands, is definitely 4 great musicians making up the whole. Each member can be heard in all of their songs and each contributes equally to the final product. That's why when john Bonham died in 1980 they couldn't go on, that magic was not replaceable.
Was wondering when you were going to do the Lemon. If I had to describe Zep with one song, this is it. Trust me: "You Shook Me" from their first album.
Jimmy makes the guitar talk!! And Robert uses his voice like an instrument. That's why the call and response they do is sooo good. They have a conversation and it's just sublime
This was so heavily influenced by the blues master "Howlin' Wolf" that Zeppelin eventually gave him songwriting credit, and I imagine his estate still gets some cash for his role. Great reaction!
When I was listening to this song one day when I was 14, my mother came into my room just when the 'squeeze my lemon' bit was on. That's disgusting, she said. Someone of your age shouldn't be listening to this. Another time she came in when I was listening to Zep and she very proudly said 'oh, is this Janis Joplin?' :) That was 50 years ago and it still makes me smile...as do Led Zep.
F YEA!!! **Best Reaction!!!** Ahahaha man just SO **LUV** how much ya get into them!!! That made me **Smile** Thank YOU ever so!!! Ya **ROCK!!!** Weeeeeee
Hello kid, may I make you a suggestion? When you pause the video and comment, it's a good idea go back a little bit when you start again, because you're loosing great parts of the song moving on, specially when you cut in the middle of a transition. 😉
JPJ killing it on the bass guitar.
It's called call and response, and Zeppelin were masters at it.
They were and it wasn't just guitar and vocals. John Bonham also interchanged with Jimmy Page during his solos.
@@jamesrowe3606 Also bonzo and John Paul Jones - especially in this song and Dazed and Confused.
Zep does a lot of "call and response" between the vocals and lead guitar.
When Zep calls i respond.
Greatest Band Of All Time!
Absolutely!☮💜
Page used to record and overlay a couple of different guitar tracks on some songs.

Have you reacted to You Shook Me ? You won't be disappointed!!!!!

When I saw Plant back in the 90s someone threw a lemon on the stage as a way of requesting this song. LOL!

This song is fire🔥I just came back from the gym and needed to checkout Led Zeppelin music
JPJ is the truth. ❤ And yes, the elements speak to each other in this.
Led Zeppelin!! Yes! Thank you so much!
Just another day at the office for the greatest band ever!
Was wondering when you were going to do the Lemon.
If I had to describe Zep with one song, this is it.
Trust me: "You Shook Me" from their first album.
JPJ & Bonham were well into funk/RnB and I love hearing it pop out.
Jimmy makes the guitar talk!! And Robert uses his voice like an instrument. That's why the call and response they do is sooo good. They have a conversation and it's just sublime
Battle of evermore❤ ❤
Studio version
The thing that is special in this song is the bass.
Yup! Huh? Yup! ..❤
The greatest band in history. Page someones overdubbed himself in the studio. They did alot of call and response...guitar and vocals!
Best band ever ❤
Great Bass on this great Song

Page would overdub 2, 3, or 4 guitars playing different things or echo and reverb.
LoL. I see you're going down the best heavy rock band of all time 🐇 🕳️. Check out, "Since I've been Loving You" live at MSG in 1973.
👍
A hard-core racy song.
John Paul Jones on bass. The band wouldn't have been what it was without him.
Custard Pie
