Chuck was a true virtuoso, unreal technical ability, while also being a god level songwriter both instrumentally and lyrically, and singing on top of it. death only got better as a band as they aged because Chuck was fearless where the direction of his bands image and sound were concerned, he did was he thought was right at the time and took death to the next level melodically and progressively. that's why it's such a tragedy he was taken from us too soon, he was already wiser far beyond his years and he only grew more intelligent and masterful as he aged. RIP Chuck.
I love how the best death metal albums in history were recorded in standard tuning and D standard and death metal bands nowadays drop their guitars to God knows how low and sound like total garbage.
***** Morbid Angel use Bb 7 strings and use multiple tunings throughout their catalog... he has a point. Most Death Metal bands tune too low and never try anything else.
amon amarth play in b standard, the black dahlia murder play in c standard and play six string guitars. most low tuning bands these days play 7-8 string guitars some sound great the only thing that pisses me off are the bands that play really low tunings and use only the breakdowns. Nile also plays drop a and they're amazing
Last year was the first time i ever heard Death, and i heard it at a time when i was suicidal. Their music alone helped me through SO much in my life, and i don't know what it was, but I think it's just that Chuck's vocals were so special. It's almost like you could hear the shear raw emotion that so many other vocalists seem to lack, like he was singing straight to you personally, didn't it? I wish I could tell him all he has done for me, and I'm sure a lot of you feel the same. :(
You gotta give chuck credit. Not only did he create a genre, but he also sings while playing rhythm and then leads on almost all fuckin' solo, on top of that he writes his own material! This man is every thing, it's no wonder why he gets so much respect and we all love him for it.
Chuck is in heaven, playing face melting riffs to the angels with kittens on the stage, jamming out with him. -R.I.P Chuck spreading love and sharing your god given talent with thr most high. 🙏
I would have loved to see the Legend live in concert The whole genre of Death metal today would be kept much better if he were still alive Chuck Schuldiner may be gone, but all the songs he made will stay forever and so will our memory of him
Thanks so much Chuck for all you gave us!!!! Miss being able to go to the State Theater in Tampa and see you guys. Home town boy makes good!!! Your influence and music will live forever!!!!
God given physical gifts, talent, and put in the disciplined practice/hard work = Chuck. Didn’t waste a drop of what he had. So good that God said, “that’s enough, Bring that shit up here!”🤘😇
These dudes really shine on this song-the technical arrangements of Chucks guitar parts are amazing. And the drummer is also doing some awesome fills to add to it's technicality. I'm really bummed that we lost such a talent as Chuck. He inspires me to be creative and not limit myself with my own music.
Chucks technique was fucking monstrous...while singing no less...need to get me some of those slinky fingers and not these fucking sausages I've been blessed with....!!!!
After watching many of my favorite guitarists (most of whom are outside the death metal genre), I have determined that probably my greatest handicap as a player is having small hands and short fingers. Doesn't help that I can't bend the upper joint on my left pinky (I play right-handed) either!
Greatest metal musician. His songs are so deep and cool, there is no need for stupid brainwashing satanic text to look cool and angry. Most so called satanists are cowards and as persons very manipulative. Today satanist, tomorrow buddhist Music with lyrics are one. He lives trough his songs forever
Vale Barbour Akerfeldt > Rhoads + Iommi He is a fucking genious because he was able to succeed both in extreme Death/Folk Metal and Blues/Prog Rock. And then Harris... Harris I think deserves the place the most. Still I like Opeth more than Maiden, but by very little.
Today is the death anniversary of a very big influence on my life. Thank you Chuck Schuldiner for the amazing music and the hope your music gives me and other people. You may have died, but your music and memory lives on. Rest in peaceful, eternal slumber.
I have never been to a metal show. However, when I come to UA-cam and watch any Death video, it feels like I am at a terrific pub listening to the music I like with many people headbanging around me. Here is a picture of my facial expression when I sense it: :D
He was fucking amazing. I can never get enough of his playing. He works off the drums incredibly well. The riffs the solos the voice. All amazing. RIP Chuck you were one in a billion.
The spirit of chuck is still with all who love metal and love creating music, that moment when you come up with an epic riff of your own, that moment of pure creativity and love is the spirit of Chuck, which is the same spirit that resides in all of us.
rip .chuck jesteś na zawsze w moim świecie,a moje dzieci podziwiają twoją twórczość .DZIEKUJE za to co zrobiłeś dla metali!!!!! spoczywaj stary!!!!!!!!!!
Yesterday i took my guitar, and thought "I wanna play Death", took up Crystal Mountain, and im fucking happy that i was somewhat able to play it, just didnt play the solo because im no metal master, but i must say, IM HAPPY AS FUCK THAT I CAN PLAY DEATH!.
My friend Devin fuckin LOVED death, great band, he taught me how to play this song a number of years ago. its soooo fun to play. especially that solo!! Song helps me reminisce on good times, R.I.P. Devin
Definitely one of my favorite songs, and one of my favorite performances from Death, and kudos goes out the guy at 4:05 who had the balls to readjust the microphone on the drum while Richard Christy was going wild on them.
Yet another great musician taken by fate before his time to play eternally with the legends that have gone before him and those who will undoubtedly follow after. If only fate wasn't so greedy.
yup! i totally agree with you, its so hard to find bands that has these kind of professionalism in musical structures, breakdowns, bridges and lyrics, but other than that Death's music is well organized and surprising R.I.P Chuck Schuldiner the Godfather of Death metal
lol, I was the exact same way in the begining of my metal journey, only I went from listening to alternative to thrash to finally death metal. I think Death is one of the most awesome and underated metal bands to ever exist.
that solo is the bets i've heard in a while... and btw, people, stop saying RIP chuck and things like this.. because he is not dead he still lives in the hearts of every Death fan
this is my favorite death song and its been 10 years of the legend out of the death metal scene the god of death metal and my main inspiration in metal damn i miss you chuck!!!! RIP my metal brother!!!!!!!
It seriously depresses me knowing I will never be able to see Death live and witness Chuck growling and shredding my fucking face to a bloody pulp R.I.P Chuck you'll never be forgotten
In a few hours where I live it'll be 10 years without you, Chuck. Fuck... We miss you so fucking much, and you and your music will live on forever. You will never be forgotten. R.I.P.
@SmokescreenAbyss your a credit to your generation with this post man, keep up spreading the real metal throughout your confused generation who think they know what metal is....cheers
@DavidKinner Your right. They are bands that have broken all the boundaries and have made incredible music. Chuck will always be remembered. I can picture a 15 year old in 20 years time going on youtube and searching "Guitar solo" and he/she will be fascinated when they find Chuck Schuldiner and Death and worship it like I have for the last 2 years. RIP CHUCK THE FATHER OF DEATH METAL. YOU WILL ALWAYS BE REMEMBERED.
nobody has ever thought chuck was underrated, the only reason he would be thought of as underrated is because death metal up until recently has been so far underground. He has gotten plenty of respect though and quite possibly one of my favorite guitarists of all time. I'm not saying he is the BEST but very very close to guys like kiko louriero, Paul Gilbert, Michael Angelo Batio, etc...
@johnoak18, that was on 1998, at the Dynamo Open Air Festival in Eindhoven, Holland. That was the first time Chuck, Shannon, Scott and Richard played live.
I was never really caught by that band, but I think I begin to get down with it... And you just cannot - not appreciate Chuck, he was an outstanding guitar player with a genuin musical vision.
one of the most epic chorus in music history makes me think of horsemen riding to their death in a battle or something gladiators fighting to the death sick guitar thats for true
I never liked to listen to death metal untill i heard this song.It has power and an amazing melody which isnt common for most death metal bands but that is what makes the unique.Btw best song ever
@freddygoldstein As quoted from your favorite site; "Although his parents are both Jewish, Schuldiner did not go through any formal religious training. In the documentary, "666 At Calling Death", he was asked whether Satanism was a part of his music. He replied, "Not at all. I really don't want to involve any type of religious theme in our music. I think that's more of a personal thing." Chuck never followed Judaism he followed his own way of life with or without religion.
RIP Chuck.
The most exhausting job in the world must be that of a drummer in a death metal band.
Well its even harder to sing and play guitar at the same time like that.
I will certainly not argue with that, but all that work on the double kicks and all those fills have got to be taxing on one's body!
***** yeah i get that...i try it sometimes but i like playin guitar more! c:
how about djent now?
Amshu Chitrakar its not even music anymore...
He was THE PHILOSOPHER, whose VOICE OF THE SOUL will forever encompass the COSMIC SEA.
Happy 50th Birthday, Chuck! Cheers!
I love how the best death metal albums in history were recorded in standard tuning and D standard and death metal bands nowadays drop their guitars to God knows how low and sound like total garbage.
So true xD
***** Morbid Angel use Bb 7 strings and use multiple tunings throughout their catalog... he has a point. Most Death Metal bands tune too low and never try anything else.
Correct
+mateo jackson I tend to agree but B sounds good too
amon amarth play in b standard, the black dahlia murder play in c standard and play six string guitars. most low tuning bands these days play 7-8 string guitars some sound great the only thing that pisses me off are the bands that play really low tunings and use only the breakdowns. Chuck started what death metal is today. Even the other band he only played guitar in was great. R.I.P. CHUCK. IN MY EYES U LIVE FOREVER.
I looked this up because I thought Chuck was synonymous with Chuck Norris. I was completely right.
hell yeah
I dont get it lol
hehehe.... when the boogeyman goes to bed, he checks his closet for Chuck Schuldiner. :)
quinn taylor what? Chuck Schuldiner isn't a pussy, Chuck Norris is
What an amazing and super talented band.. One of the best metal bands of all time, if not THE best.
Are Chuck's fingers photoshopped??...They are lengthy AF../,,/
He had largefingerosis.
God given physical gifts, talent, and put in the disciplined practice/hard work = Chuck.
Didn’t waste a drop of what he had. So good that God said, “that’s enough, Bring that shit up here!”🤘😇
death has some best guitar solos

I'm really bummed that we lost such a talent as Chuck. He inspires me to be creative and not limit myself with my own music.
richard christie on drums.
he sounds awful compared to the original drummer

tomtomthebear it's his tone i'm so in love with
chuck you always live in us...those who listen your music and try to play on guitar your legacy and priceless riffs
Happy B-Day Chuck .
Greatest metal musician.
His songs are so deep and cool, there is no need for stupid brainwashing satanic text to look cool and angry.
Most so called satanists are cowards and as persons very manipulative. Today satanist, tomorrow buddhist
Music with lyrics are one.
He lives trough his songs forever
Denis Vezijak I enjoy these 'satanic' bands. Also, some bands/band members aren't actual satanists either.
Vinny V Yeah me too this guy needs to fuck off.
Looks like somebody didn't read a single verse from Scream Bloody Gore
Or Leprosy
chuck is someone who lived up to his dreams, he lived by his dreams, he lived his dreams, truly admirable.
This is something called music .
Chuck was so hot.. *sigh*
Just got this DVD and its one of the best things that has happened to me
RIP Chuck
Who the hell dislikes this?!!!!
Losers
Metal's big 4: Mustaine, Chuck, Harris, Akerfeldt
Nooooooooo
How about:Mustaine,Chuck,Rhoads,Iommi.
EricMetalhead its not a list without harris in it
***** For me they are all good. In my taste, Akerfeldt is the best, but that is just a matter of opinion.
Chuck Chuck oh my...your voice gives us a power to stand the ground and fight....r.i.p and massive respect 🤘

You can tell this was after they released Sound of Perseverance because of his voice. I think that's really cool.
They were the most mature Death Band, before Chaos
it is a damn shame he died at such a young age with so much talent
R.I.P. Chuck
I was never really caught by that band, but I think I begin to get down with it...
And you just cannot - not appreciate Chuck, he was an outstanding guitar player with a genuin musical vision.

Chuck was such an immense talent taken far too early from us.

@Carafota you've changed my mind on the topic and informed me thanks.
