Adding A Bust Adjustment to the Love Note Sweater, The Yarn Curator Knitting and Spinning Podcast

- Hey Curators,
Join me today as I explore adding bust darts to my LoveNote Sweater by Tin Can Knits. For this garment I worked a vertical bust adjustment, which adds length to the front of the garment. To work this adjustment it is important that you pay attention to your row gauge on your knitting. Since I wanted to add two inches of length, I calculated the number of rows that I needed to work in order to add that length to the garment.
If you have any questions about the process, please ask them down below and I will do my best to answer them.

Thanks for such a detailed explanation! I recently saw bust darts were even possible in knitwear. I’m at that point in my pullover now that I want to try that technique.
I hope you were able to work them and love the fit!!

Excellent instructions. Thanks 😊
Thank you!! Good luck with your project!
Wow that looks amazing. Just about to have a go with the love note and I have a full bust , so this will hopefully make a big difference. 😊
Oh you’re going to love making it!! It’s a really engaging pattern. Glad to know this video was helpful!
great explanations! I wish the designers would tell us what cup size they used to knit the original garment. I know how to alter my tops when I'm sewing, but knitting is a completely different animal! Sewing patterns usually say not only the cup size but the height of the person for that particular design, so it's very easy to adapt and alter the pattern to your own measurements. Greetings from Tennessee!
Thank you so much! I admit I’m total rubbish at sewing 😂, so we’d make a great pairing! There’s a few knitting designers out there who have have patterns with bust modifications laid out in them. I plan on doing the Rift Tee by Jacqueline Ceilslak at some point to learn more about bust shaping. Have a great day!
Muchas gracias
Hope it was helpful!
My reason is to draw up at the side of the sweater. All my sweaters look like maternity clothing! Bust darts pull the side back much more organically than waist shaping! As a seamstress, darts are removing fabric, but knitting doesn’t work that way, so i need help figuring this out!
You got this!!!
I have been searching for ways to shape my sweater patterns to accomodate a 34G size bust. I am tired of choosing between a tight sweater or sloppy one that fits the bust but is too loose in the shoulders waist and arms. What would you suggest?
Hi there!! Sorry this took so long to answer, but there’s a few things you can try. One is to pick the bust size you’d like with the amount of ease you like and then decrease down a size after you divide your sleeves. If you just decrease along the sides it creates a more tapered look. If you want to nip it just in at the waist you can decrease and then increase back up in your stitch count to create a more hour glass shape in your sweater. If you’re feeling really adventurous, you can give bust darts a try! I found this article to be super useful: knittyprofessors.blogspot.com/2009/12/free-tutorial-bust-dart-shaping-for-top.html?m=1
Do you have details of the app you used?
Hi there! Sorry for the delayed response! I didn’t end up using it very much. I found the user interface to be a bit confusing, which is a shame cause it’s a great idea!
@@yarncurator interesting. I would still love to know the name of it
Ohhhh! Sorry! It’s called knitting toolkit, I think it was $5
