Thanks for the great and really informative podcasts. I would love to see a tutorial on adjusting the gauge (stitches per inch) to get the correct fit. I know there is plenty of information out there, but you have a great knack of explaining things that resonates. Anyway, keep up the great work and my head was even swimming thinking of all the things you do in a week. 😅

Hi Tash :) Im feeling super lazy after watching this very full, meaty podcast! Im also feeling inspired so thank you for that. Your Love Note is soo soo beautiful, that colour on you is perfect! Im in awe of how you have made multiple ranunculi, while Im still thinking about it. The fact you have made so many makes them seem a little more accessible to me....I find the pattern overwhelming to read and process. I finished my first Tolsta Tee by, The creabea...It's a cute simple knit, so much so I've started another one, In delicious Kinross wool from Scotland.... I think your Carnaby skirt will definately be darker where the "blob" is, but, its been an entertaining process watching you navigating this....could you dye some extra wool and duplicate stitch over the dark patch? Loved the birds in the podcast...it's looking very dry where you are.... can't say im looking forward to the hot summer they're predicting!

That was fun as usual. I love the pink in your pink velvet, it looks so good. If you want some of the Tynn line back just let me know and I’ll post some, I haven’t picked a project yet so if you want to add sleeves just let me know.
I love the blue silk mohair, that colour 🥰 and I say yes put some beads on it. I made my first ranunculus and I put Swarovski crystals on it. It makes me feel so pretty each time I put it on as it sparkles. I might get more into beading as I certainly have the time to slow down and my wardrobe doesn’t need any more things in it but I can’t stop making 😱😬 and I now have soooo much yarn so expansion is inevitable 😳
Good luck dyeing! I remember when my son worked at McDonald’s he used to come home smelling of oil and he would have to wash his uniform separately after each shift 🤮
With your bamboo, that type of yarn really hangs and stretches down so your 18sts may pull down to be 20 anyway, it’s quite a tricky yarn and the swatch is no help really, well that was my experience but it’s so shiny and drapey it’s hard to resist.
I’m making a sunset cami out of Antigone and I finished it but it was just a bit off fit wise and I now know what to do if I remade it, which is usually the case with me. Knit it, work out the changes and make another one 🤭 But then I always choose the updated version and ignore the first one, but this yarn is too special and I need to only have things I really love, so I ripped it out and I’m reknitting it again 😬
Enjoy the holidays and see you next time, Karen 🥰

Thank you so much Karen. I think I will have plenty of the Tynn Line for the Ranunculus even if i do long sleeves as I havent even finished the first ball! I've put it aside for a moment to decide if i am ready to start the ribbing. I think i am, but just need to try it on with jeans to be sure.
Yeah - the smell of the fast food oil is real. He got into the car after a 4 hour shift and he smelled like a 5 foot 9 piece of fried chicken.
I'm excited to do the blue Ranunculus with the beads. I hope they fit. If they dont, I will look into getting some that do, as i think this yarn would really suit a beaded version. I love your beaded version - it inspired me!
Thanks for your thoughts about the bamboo. I hadnt really thought about that but yes, the drag can increase the row gauge and reduce the stitch gauge. I will have to consider that with yoke depth as well. I dont want the yoke ending up around my waist.
I can understand why you ripped out and reknit the Antigone. The yarn looks really lovely and I would want it in a project that was getting worn. I do the same - knit something first and then make notes about how to do the second one better. I am trying to catch more issues early and rip back and get the first one right - but sometimes you just cant tell until it is off the needles and you are wearing it.
Have a great week - enjoy the long weekend. :)

    • @casuarinagirl8067
      @casuarinagirl8067 10 місяців тому

@@mostlyknitting The bamboo, you definitely have to adjust your row gauge, for me I think it was something like 10% less. Also block and hang along the way as it’s going to stretch when worn so may as well hang it along the way I say 😬🤭

The Musselburgh is finished to be stored away for next winter. I just love your Runuculous Sweaters but I do not like the Love Note. The Runuculous fits much better. Nice cast on's and I rather like the skimmer socks. The new knit by Andrea Mowry is fabulous. I feel very encouraged by your knitting style and the way you think the hiccups out.
I had a health scare about two weeks ago. I went to bed and felt I had bad indigestion and I simply could not fall asleep. I went to the kitchen heated some milk to slightly warm and went back to bed. A very short time later the indigestion became a full on intense pain in my chest. I felt nauseous and went to the bathroom and felt like passing out. I woke my husband and told him what was happening. He took me to the hospital 7 mins away. I was taken in to the ER and treated for a Heart Attack. After a couple of hours they had run ecgs etc etc they said it was not a heart attack. They admitted me and arranged for a physician to see me. He later told me that my osephagus had gone into a spasm and had caused the intense pain. He said he had also experienced this and thought it was a heart attack.
They did a sonar and found I have a large stone in my gall bladder but it will not cause problems. I was then discharged with medication to rest and told that I would feel much better in four days. I have a small pill to put under my tongue should this happen again ❤😊

How incredibly scary for you and your husband Rosemary. That must have been awfully painful and frightening. I am so relieved to hear it wasnt a heart attack and that you have something you can take right away if you ever experience it again. Take good care of yourself and rest up. My thoughts and prayers are with you. xx

The Sofie scarf looks very good on you, but I understand that it is not your thing. I would love to make the Musselbrrstf hat, ( sorry, I don't know how to write that), but I wouldn't wear it , and Lisbon is so hot ...we don't even have a decent winter...6 or 7 days at 6° C in January and that's it...up to 10 or 12 °...until the end of February and March is already springie....that's not really cold. I must knit more summer tops too, but I will have to wave in a more shy manner...with the upper arm glued to my torso 😉😊...thats ok , it's part of a good life to embrace maturity. Hi Tash! I hope this time the comment will not disappear...it would be the third! 😅loving all your knits, as usual...your love note is so pretty! I never really liked that pattern but yours is so delicate..I would definitely take the time to fix the sleeve issue, consider it as an item in your basket of things that need something to be done to them! speaking of which fingers crossed for the lovely skirt!! I so love that red color...curious to see the purple...I also like to fix/repair/modify things and am in the process of slowly going through my things while I declutter my whole flat (which sill take me forever) and want to change a bunch of things and sometimes I ask myself if it's worth it, but I also like the challenge and the learninig process, to see what is possible, so I guess what I am saying is that the dye and the pot etc, it's not ony about that skirt but about your empowerment to be able to learn how to intervene....the socks are super cute! and I love the colors of the brown pink colorwork sweater...I am going to knit myself something with that color combination....as for wips, I love your thinking 🤣 but I totally get it and it does make sense....at the moment I am working on my focus, in all areas of life because I have an issue, I get side tracked and start a million things which I do not finish, so I am working on finishing (it will take some time) all my wips before I cast anything on, and knitting only on one. BUT I did immediately experience having to pull out another wip, because I need some brainless not involved knitting for certain situations...and one of the projects is super heavy and bulky with a gazillion colors...and another one has a lot of new things I need to pay attention to...so it does make sense to have different wips for different energy levels, concentration levels, moving around etc...really enjoying your podcast, hope you manage to fix your car issues, enjoy the rest of your holidays!♥

Another fabulous episode Tash, thank you! Your new Ranunculus is absolutely beautiful, so delicate! I’m still overthinking mine, I had done a split hem and finished the ribbing but the ribbing is really prominent, looks a bit plump so I’m thinking about ripping back and doing stocking stitch with maybe an icord bind off or end with just a couple of rows of garter. I’ll check out the KAL you mentioned, that might give me the oomph I need to get back to it. 😊
I literally cut and paste a pattern chart I bought so that I could create a chart for a T-Rex for a 6yr old’s birthday beanie and was so relieved that it worked! Apparently he slept in it.❤️
Your video quality is absolutely fine. I love your style of getting straight into the knitting. I’ve made several short films on my phone and for the first few I used iMovie, which is probably similar to InShot. Even though it was a bit limited in the bells and whistles department, it was what I knew and easy to use. Those little films won awards in various film festivals around the world, which was a huge surprise - so don’t stress about the program you use, it’s all about the content I think.

Your Love Atory sweater is lovely. Have you thought about making the whole sleeves a little shorter (before the rib) then doing the rib ? Or maybe no rib at all? It might help.
Lovely episode and I always love when you show your Mysselburg hats ( I loved the episode when you showed a bunch of them). I’m making my first one and I’m loving it. ❤

Thanks so much. I think i will have to try something with it as it deserves to get more wear. Ripping back the mohair wont be easy ...

I’m also making my 4th Ranunculus! The first 2 were worsted weigh cap sleeves, the 3rd is linen with short sleeves. The one I’m working on is lace weight alpaca held double and I’m hoping to make it long sleeved if I have enough yarn.

It is such an amazing, versatile pattern. So many different kind of sweaters out of the one design!

Hi Tash, watching and enjoying your podcasts from NZ. Am wanting to do a Love Note in your Ranunculus composition featured in this video. Can you give the yarn details please?

@truelaneknits made a lovely Stripe Hype in solids, it might inspire you! Also may I gently add to the tutorial list: ripping back safely and effectively. Thank you!

Thanks Erin. truelane's version is beautiful. I am actually super-excited to make one of these so despite my 7 WIPs, i will be doing some stash-diving this weekend. ;) Thank you so much for the reminder on ripping back well. I will add to the list. :)

I have a question about finishing the Musselburgh hat… When you are decreasing and get down to the final 16 stitches, do you switch to double pointed needles, decrease down to 8 stitches and then run the yarn through all 8 loops on the needles before pulling closed? (I’m hoping this makes the decrease end look like the increase end.) 🤣
Thank you for all of your lovely posts, they are so enjoyable to watch! 🌸

I do magic loop the whole way down to 8 sts and then run the yarn through the 8 live sts as you suggested. Aside from increases looking different to decrease, the two ends do look the same. :)

where did you get the baskets that holds your wipe?

I got the baskets from Sunspun in Melbourne but they are from Thread and Maple and I think they sell their items directly. They are really lovely and sturdy and pretty. :)

Such a lovely podcast! It's a bit of a pitty that the video quality is so low because we can't fully enjoy your beautiful projects!

I'm sorry - this one refused to upload in 1080 and i had to save in 720. This is the first time i have had to do that after deleting tons of stuff off my phone and trying 5 times. InShot is meant to work no matter the size but it might be an issue with my phone. I will try and keep my videos to under an hour and move some more stuff off my phone before next week's podcast. I will make sure that one is under an hour. Thanks for taking the time to give me feedback. :)
