  • The Kessil A80 is great. Having no fan is the best. Perfect for lps and zoa tanks.

    This tank is beautiful and a testament to sensible husbandry! Regular water changes, minimal dosing and hands-off. I love it and you're obviously really successful with it. 👍

      Thank you! Sometimes the water changes are not so regular, so then I have to do quite a lot of work to get it clean. A small bioload helps a lot.

    I have a 25 gallon bubble tank. I have one Kessil a80 light and after watching your video, I most definitely think I need an additional Kessil as well. I can tell my corals are thriving but the Montipora digitata didn’t fair so well.
    It lost its color father fast but know that I have it at the top of the tank it seems to be doing well.
    I have Dunkin, Trumpets, Zoa, Palys, and Xenia also.
    I’m tired of waisting money on lights though. I have the Kessil controller so my only option is another a80.
    Thanks for the informational video👍🏾

    %100 is way too high in my opinion I run them on a similar setup and the max I go to is %70 for one hour a day with it ramping up and down over 10 hours with only %60 color maximum. My guess is at that setting you will start to find the corals start bleaching out and dying the A80's are pretty powerful little units for there size. Nice tank

      Northwest Reefer Thanks! I don’t remember testing on a par meter but I had great success running at 100% for a few years. I don’t think it is too much but you definitely need to ease into it. Depends on the coral type as well. Check out my 3 year review video of this tank on my channel. I took the tank down but I sure do miss it.

    Ahh tank looks awesome! The Rastas look pretty dope. Yeah so far I'm really enjoying my 160we it is wayy too powerful for my 15 gallon but I only have it @35% peak intensity, so it works just fine. Do you have these guys hooked up ro a spectral controller?

    I have a nuvo 20 and was thinking about getting an apex but I can't figure out if I have room for those probes + probe rack since all my chambers are full of stuff already (filter sock, skimmer, reactor, heater, pump, media basket, ato sensor). Where do you place yours?

    Have you ever tested the par on these? I have the same tank and since it under my kitchen cabinents I onlyhave 4 1/2 inches of clearance so I am having a hard time. Kessil says this light can be mounted as low as 4 inches. I want mostly lps and softie but hoping to have a few sps on top! I sa a youtube with one of these and top par in the middle was only 140! So pretty low par. my only other options are strip lights like fluval and current. I like that fluval has violet and cyan and i know violet is important for color pop and chloropyll A. But I know that fluval cant compare to kessil. Just wish it has more wattage. Its crazy that a prime mounted at 6 inches has unusable per because of the hot spots then the crazy drop off in par. You would think you could just turn down the intensity and be able to mount it low like this light! Racking my brains trying to find lights! Any recommendations? I know you are a kessil man because I have watched quite a few of you youtubes but as I recall you had some others in the mix! Wow! I may reconsider these because I watched to end and see that you have frogspawn and sps growing in there. I guess two side by side is prodding alot more par than that youtube I saw and he also had it mounted pretty high. Have you had these lights running with the lps and sps for a while. I know sometimes it takes a while to die off from low light!

      Hi Karen. Just wondering if you ever figured out what to do about your lights? Did you end up getting the A80s? I was thinking about getting a few of these for my tank.

    • @PuffDaddyReef
      @PuffDaddyReef  7 років тому

      Evo Guy It is really personal preference. If it is your only tank, I'd probably go with the 25. I love my 20. It is a simple, easy to maintain set-up. The ultra clear glass does scratch easy so just be careful.

    • @evoguy9058
      @evoguy9058 7 років тому

      Puff Daddy Reef thanks I think I'll be going with the 25 then. I like the extra space it has if I ever decide to add more to it. Do u have a setup video .would be very helpful as it's my first time. As well as I'm doing my research.

    • @PuffDaddyReef

      It is not much work to set up. The nuvo fusion comes with a return pump. You will need a heater and lights unless you get one with lights. The return pump works just fine but you will probably want a small circulation pump or two for flow in the tank. Or you can upgrade the return pump to a cobalt aquatics MJ1200 and not use in tank pumps if you plan on a softie or lps tank. SPS will need a internal pump in either case. I personally like the stand, you just have to keep it dry or it will start to peel. I use a Tunze ato and a 5 gallon water container in the stand for top off. I dose kalk in this tank to keep the CA and alkalinity up, but 2 part may be doable as well. You don't really need to dose with softies and regular water changes.

    hey man, I know this is from a while ago..looking back how did the sps do under the a80's? I currently only have one a80 with some zoas and euphyllia but I really want to try out just one little Monti cap frag and see how it does

      its great really although only easier to care for sps would thrive on this light

    • @littlelagoonreef1040
      @littlelagoonreef1040 4 роки тому

      barelyhuman I don’t think that would be the case, how could such a low output light create growth in an extreme light demanding coral (220 par +)?

    • @__barelyhuman__
      @__barelyhuman__ 4 роки тому

      Ryan I know it sounds hard to believe but it’s true 😂 Some peeps at brs even use it to grow clams and everyone knows how light demanding clams are . If u need more info will be happy to help :)

      barelyhuman I have 2 a80s over my 20g my euphyllia and bta are doing great. Zoas reaching a tiny bit. Got some sps just to experience. I haven’t seen any growth but I also have seen color loss or anything

      James Couturier It depends. I have used both a single 160 and two h80s on this tank. Both work. A single 160 will have a bigger shimmer but i like the spread of two a 80s
