    I was honestly expecting around 70-80par at the bottom corners. Damn no wonder my soft corals are growing slow as hell lol. Thank you for the video!

      Esai Vergara I also expected the light to give a bit stronger results. BUT, it’s a 15watt light in the end so it is what it is. Still such a great shimmer and great light for the price

      Thats a huge tank for this light and that goose neck is way high… run this light at 4” above the water on a lifeguard crystal 10 and it rocks… this light is not for a 20 gallon, you need 2.

      @@JCSReefing What would you suggest to someone who only has 4 1/2 inches of clearnce? I want o go with ai prime but the youtube by BRS of it mounted at 6 inches had 455 average in center hot spot then directly next to it 150 par and back and front walls were in teens and twenty;s with coners being 9! I dont see the difference between lowering the intensity on that light and using this? Kessels says these can be mounted 4 inches above, I am assuming because of the wattage but like I said if wattage is the determining factor or maybe its spread, thats probably it! This must have better spread haha. Just figured out as I am typing. I am thinking that a big strip like reef breeders photon or zetlight qmaven might woork but has crazy high par at full intensity but its and even spread since its a strip and can be turned down. I have a nuvo 20. I dont even know if 2 of these would provide enough par. I have some sps I want to put on top in my other tank!

      @@karennation3580 I would do an AI prime. If trying to save cost, you can look at the 30 or 50w Nicrew led. A prime with an aftermarket diffuser would be pretty sweet on a 20g. You need to remember, many oar reviews are at make intensity with max color channel intensity. Most lighting as such a prime, you won’t run every channel at 100%. (Unless you like that look). I would do an AI prime, run blues, UV royal blue at 100% and white,soft white at 20% and green and reds at 10%. But that’s just me.

      I do not have the light anymore but i believe kessil recommends 4 inches off the water for mixed reef with a coverage of 12 x12x15. I personally found the light to be a bit lower wattage and would probably go another route if planning SPS or multiple lights on a 29

  • @flashlight365

    I have a 20 gallon long with a kessil a80 8 inches from the top of the tank. The height of the tank from the top to the sandbed is 9 inches. I want to grow some soft corals and maybe some lps. Would you recommend buying an additional a80 so I would have more coverage for the tank? Would I be able to grow some sps if I had 2 a80s? Or would I need additional lighting?

    • @JCSReefing
      @JCSReefing  3 роки тому +1

      You could most likely grow any softies and some LPS with the one you have. Adding an additional light would give you better, more even coverage. That being said, personally rather then buy another A80 i would sell what you have and purchase a prime HD to give you more wattage to grow SPS

    Wow, really poor reading but what can you expect for 15 watts. I can either us 2 of these or current usa or fluval sea strip because I only have 4 inches of clearance above tank. I dont get why I could just tone down an ai prime and get these type of reading but higher. Unless BRS videos arent truthful but the par levels on 6 inch mounting of ai prime were 450 average in center hot spot then right next to that drops to 125 then along front and back wall the par is in the 20 teens and 30's and even 9 on the corner, so with par that low at 6 inches imagine the bottom of tank! It just dosnt make sense. I really dont want o get this light but current sucks, no color pop or growth. I used it for a shortwhile and got rid of it. Fluval has cyan and violet so maybe that would help since that provides chloropyll A! I thought of reef bright strip but to many cords and xtras to buy and reefbreeders photon since it is basically a big strip light it would have a big hotspot in center but could put sps there and the drop off isnt much and pretty even par in a 12 inch wide tank. Great video. Any suggestions for me?
