the world began in Africa and these were a nice tribe... always loving, always kind. many of those traits still exist in folks that have the African ancestry... ONLY when scourges of society infiltrate the normal calm lovingness of the Afro-folk, then certain things become usurped. However from what I have seen this continent is rich in history, culture, love, spices, earthly gems and EVERYTHING richness is. Wealth comes along with the richness too, but only to some folks... whatever. Wealth is not all. RICHNESS is the true value of life and I have seen it in the behaviors and attitudes and actions in many people from the Eastern world.

putting aside the long beautiful hair for a moment - it is so refreshing to see ppl living in harmony with nature. the background caught my eye most - women together with the children and others doing household tasks like sewing etc. the hair product itself could not be more natural - they used ingredients they probably grew themselves. then there is the generational bonds of doing each others hair every 5 days. makes me want to move to Africa.

I grew up with evil aunties in Africa. I had full long hair from my mother but the aunts on my father's side raised me when my mom left. None of them cared for my hair and my dad hand to cut it. I had hair trauma from their abuse so don't thi k all if Africa is that generous and kind to each other.

La la Land That's what they all say once u get into the reasons why they don't like black women. I've always been curious as to why men of other races would jump at the chance to be with a Denise Katrina Mathews, or a Zoe Saldana, but never a Tisha Campbell or a Keysha Cole.
White men especially LOVE LOVE LOVE dark skin. Dark is what every white woman wants to be. But men just don't care for the masculine attitudes, and the facial features black women typically have. I used to be very ashamed of my color growing up, because of the colorism bullshit in the black community. But once I stared making friends with, and dating ppl of other races and ethnicities, let's just say I learned ALOT.

I don't see where I implied that. I see the beauty industry here in America booming...especially among non-blacks. I was just thinking how wonderful it would be for them to experience such a boom. They deserve it. It's not about money only. It's about those beautiful babies I mentioned at 3:13 as well...legacy. Nothing wrong with having monetary gain that will further enrich their community. One can be financially rich and it not impede upon the richness of their spirit and soul. Money in of itself is not evil. I pray that they would prosper...even as their souls prosper. Peace and blessings to you.

The reason why a lot of black women in the western world don’t have long natural hair like this as we should, is because of not only the chemicals that are in the shampoos we use but also because of the weather. If I leave my natural hair out, even in protective styles, the amount of breakage I get is unbelievable. Our hair isn’t built for cold climates- and then we are bashed for wearing braids/wigs/weave when in reality a lot of women are just trying to shield their hair from the polluted air and are just trying to grow their natural hair.

After watching the videos and making sure my natural 4c hair stays moisturized, I am amazed by the fact that we can grow our hair just as long as other ethnic groups. Unfortunately, many of us were not taught the proper way to moisturize, deep condition, and retain length by finger detangling. This is by no means the fault of our mothers. They simply taught us what they were taught.

So in essence, stretched hair helps to reduce breakage because it doesn't get a chance to get tangled. So keeping their hair always stretched completely removes that risk. Many people have problems with length retention, so yes, it's really not about genetics. this video is really awesome, I feel bittersweet about watching it though. I had my hair stretched in pigtails and my hair grew so fast. by hair only starting breaking because I let my hair down for bed. I thought it was the perm relaxer but it was not. I was just buying into another myth about perms. I will do the same again with my relaxed hair and keep it in pigtails while working out and in the villa.

    • @Kelly101Girl
      @Kelly101Girl 7 років тому +13

Amazing Miracles thats why, generally, many little black girls are able to retain length because of the easy styling such as pigtails, twists, braids and moisture constantly being applied to their heads. As we get older the lack of those hairstyles included with the mosturie and constant manipulation causes our hair to become strained, dry, and tangled and eventuality break off over time. Thus in the end not being able to retain length ☹

EXOizBÆ Hair grows every day, you get an average of 1/2 inch a month, or six inches a year, some people get less growth because of hormones or medication or genetics, while others get a little more each year. Bottom line is, many Black women destroy their hair has soon as it grows out, and that's why they don't see their length. The day your hair stops growing, is the day that you go bald. Black women struggle with maintaining length not hair growth itself, unless they have been getting their braids put in too tight for years, and are showing signs of traction alopecia.

Knock Hello rosemary oil is what is best to use you can add it to your shampoo or conditioner(SMALL AMOUNT) or apply to scalp. I’ve been using it with fresh aloe Vera leaf to grow my hair by combining them blending it all up. Then leaving it on scalp for 10-30 min. Then rise. Only do this once a week tho

Leny, obviously every negative myths have been spoken about our people, that common sense is often negated. I have long dreads...it is about a foot and a half from the ground. Unfortunately, I will cut it shortly because I did not take care of it as I should have. But I will re-grow. I must add, we black people have been so negatively impacted and beaten down by almost every society that we do not see the beauty in anything we do. Family, sisters, brothers.. It is imperative that we begin to make a conscious effort to support black businesses, black professional, etc and more importantly begin to implement many of the things that the late and great Dr. Frances Cress Welsing talked about in her book: Ths Isis Paper. The world and every, every other cultures are against us and sadly we, too, are against us. Correction: KNEES-DO-NOT-GROW (NEGROES) Family, we must, repeat must begin to turn off the stupid t.v., read, read and study. Stay strong, stay black and never, never give up and always love thyself first. Peace, family. Stay positive.

For those of you old enough to remember, when the Jeri Curl became popular in the 80's, most people that sported the look experienced a lot of hair growth - that was because the drippy hair products keep the hair moisturized and conditioned - to have the "wet" look and cause the hair to produce an elongated curl - you had to use the hair products daily. Ask your parents or grand parents if they used to wear a Jeri Curl back in the day!!!
Keeping the hair moisturized prevents breakage and helps you retain hair length, i.e., hair growth! Black people's hair grow like everyone else's - the trick to long hair is hair growth retention - keep the hair from breaking off!

My mom use to sport jherri curls along with my sister. My sister hair grew long due to the the constant moisture and oil. Those products (World of curls) contained glycerine which is a humectant. Draws moisture from the air into your hair.

Protective styling at it's finest. Myself and both my dd have hip length or longer hair due to very low maintenance hair styling. We don't use anything special, just wash, condition, and either avocado or jojoba oil. I like to seal with regular old hair grease. We are always asked how we get our hair so long.

quietstormaps same here, mine is mid-back. I keep it washed and conditioned once a week, keep it moisturized with Shea butter, aloe vera, almond oil and leave in conditioner mixed with humectant.....never, ever letting it get dried out. It's always worked very well for me and my sister's. Their hair is past their waists. My grandmother had hair to her feet, she kept it in long two braids as long as i can remember. And before anyone says it.....I'm black with two black parents.

My diet is very good. I eat a whole food plant based diet and have done so for about 6-7 years My daughters', however, eat whatever they want and don't follow any particular diet and their hair thrives. I'm sure genetics play a part, but I also believe our hair practices and doing low maintenance, not using much heat (we wash and flat iron once a month and don't use heat until our next wash day), helps a lot. Our hairtype, if interested, is 3c/4a and 4a.

I'm so thankful for youtube. My hair is growing longer now because I have been educating myself with these videos. We did not have this growing up in the 80's and 90's, so we didn't see how black women around the world grow their 4c hair. Growing up, I used so much alcohol-based spritz, perms with hot irons that fried my hair. I also detangled my hair like I was raking the yard. Now I care for it like this lady here does and I'm starting to see my transformation. I can't wait to see how long mine can grow.
