@@arwen3478 did you over baked them? I know if you over bake cookies even by 1 minute will cause your cookies to be hard as a rock. I usually under bake my cookies by at least 1-2 minutes. As soon as you see the edges starting to brown, take them out!!!! Hope this helps 😊
*I'm literally just a 13 year old trying to prove to my family that I can make good cookies for christmas because they don't think I can.* 😼😼😼

My family calls me the cookie queen but SERIOUSLY....not compared to this piece of cookie heaven resource. How is it possible to have every single cookie that I've ever made, tried, loved, thought of, heard of, and even NOT heard of in one single place? All that said, with beautiful photos, great results, wonderful tips....I love this! I decluttered my KAF cookbook bc it turned out to be too cumbersome, too complicated, too unrealistic, etc What else would you need in life besides your cookie recipes?! So thankful I found this resource!❤😊
Just made these yesterday and they are SO GOOD. They were easy to handle, and they came out so soft and crunchy at the same time + delicious, thank you so much!!!!!!
4 cups of all purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1 cup of corn starch
1 cup of unsalted room temperature of butter
1 cup of granulated sugar
2 room temperature eggs
A couple teaspoons of vanilla (u can use other things in that category)
Plastic wrap
Fridge
Flour
Shape cutters (not needed but recommended)
Oven
1/3 cup corn starch
What happened to baking soda or baking powder?
@@jeantaylor2717 I wondered that too, but shortbread cookies don't usually use those, so maybe this is closer to that
Hi is this recipe where you reworked it for better results? I used his original recipe it crumbly and not great tasting. I'm confused after reading so mixed results from the same recipe. I hate hit and miss recipes. I had to cream more butter add more sugar and extract to not was my ingredients 🙃
Its 1/3 you dumb a$$
you're definitely my go-to youtuber for when i gotta search for baking recipes. i love your videos! thanks for this! 👍
I've just come back to testify :).
I made these cookies - first time ever baking cookies. They turned out excellent, no spreading, crisp but soft. I did add a little lemon zest for an extra oomph. Thanks for the amazing recipe.
This is the best sugar cookie recipe that I have tried so far. Instruction is easy to follow and very consistent results every time! Thank you for sharing!
I made these delicious sugar cookies today and they were amazing! Now I'm obsessed with them 😆.I did not use any flavouring but it still smelled nice. Thanks for this recipe!
Hi, Were the cookies soft?
@@jenniferrodgers3689 I'd say a bit, but it also depends on the temperature and how long you bake it. They are crispy too.
Thank you! I'm going to try and make some☺
How long do they stay good after baking?
Yes because I don't have any extract
Made half a batch just now. Tastes good and not too sweet - just what I was looking for since it'll be finished with royal icing. I added 1/8tsp lemon oil and a healthy pink of minced lemon rind. This one is for the books. 👍🏼
I was bored during quarantine and I didn’t have chocolate chip so I searched sugar cookies and this was the best one
That’s what I’m doing rn 😂😂

Made these today, i used both vanilla and almond extract it was super good!
That's what i plan on doing to. Also want to make mine into a sandwich and in the middle put my strawberry caramel. It's for a cookie contest hope i win 😉
So I made these a few days ago, and they are everything you promised and more. This was the easiest sugar cookie dough to work with. My cookies were so defined, too bad my decorating skills would land me on Nailed It. Thank you!
do you remember how many cookies the recipe made ?
I’ve become a huge fan of your content recently as I’m on a baking journey, thank you! Always get perfect results after watching
I made these on Saturday and they turned out PERFECT. I used a 3D printed cookie cutter with an embossed image. AMAZING!! Thanks so much for sharing your incredible tips and recipes. Love!!!
480g flour
½ tsp salt
40g corn starch
226g room temperature butter
200g granulated sugar

This honestly is the best sugar cookie recipe. Tastes so good!
I made these yesterday and they came out perfect, what a great recipe! 12 minutes the was perfect baking time as well, light on top with a slight brown on the bottom. This will absolutely be my new go-to recipe. :)
Oct 2023 great cookies. Just made two batches camel cookies for our Egyptian themed halloween. Amazing. Houston loving this channel.
The best sugar cookies i've ever made in my whole life!! My kids are so in love
Love your recipe, me and my granddaughter choose a recipe every two weeks and we make it she is eight and she loved to bake.
That’s such a wonderful way to spend time together!!💕
I love how you give two different kinds of measurements so we don’t have to figure it out by ourself
So just tried this recipe and it’s awesome !!! The cookies kept their shape and the flavor was just perfect. Not too sweet, just right :)! Thank you !!!
So happy you liked it!
Ok, my 8 yr old and I baked these cookies today and they are delicious!! She really enjoyed decorating them.
Just made these cookies and they are fabulous! Not to sweet and bake up nicely....I used the 1/3 cup corn starch and they kept their shape just fine.
THIS IS THEE BEST SUGAR COOKIE RECIPE EVER! IT DIDN'T SPREAD AT ALL! THANK YOU SOOO MUCH PREPPY KITCHEN! 😘😘
Does the oven need to be pre-heated?
Absolutely love your videos. Can't wait to try this. Love from South Africa.
Just made these for a birthday party and they tasted amazing and kept their shape so well for decorating! Def will be my go to recipe from now on
Made these about 30 minutes ago...delicious. I added not vanilla extract, about 3 to 4 tsp.
Thank you for such a tasty and holding it's shape cookie!! 💜💜
These are so good! Nice and tender yet set up. Not to sweet which makes sense because the icing is sweet enough. Perfect edges. I made heart shaped for Valentine’s Day.
Hi I will definately try your cookie receipe sounds fantastic especially as the pastry does not spread how clever of you
Thanks so much for sharing this delicious recipe!!! I made these and decorated them with royal icing (recipe from your channel as well)for a bake sale and they sold out in half an hour!!! ❤
I had low expectations for these cookies, but they're fantastic. I'd say they're a bit better tasting than the Williams Sonoma recipe, but much easier to make.
I'm making these right now. The dough is chilling in the fridge. And omg. This is the best dough ever. So excited.
How much do I leave it in the fridge
After 5 failed attempts in 1 day and wasting so much products. I finally tried this recipe exactly like he said and OMG my cookies did not spread at all. F.Y.I I did it the old fashion way all by hand , a glass bowl and wood spoon. Took forever to get the sugar and butter to soften with a spoon but yes it came out perfect. I'm in shocked and happy at the same time. Now decorating turned out horrible but at least I have the cookie part finally figured out. Yayyyyy and Thank You
I tried these cookies and they actually work, wow.
You gotta trust John for that lol
Second batch is in the oven!! Fantastic recipe!! I sell my royal iced cookies and am always on the look out for a good sugar cookie recipe. This one is my fav so far, and I’ve tried a LOT of them!! Subscribed and liked!!😄🇨🇦
I will DEFINITELY be making these for Christmas! My husband is a huge sugar cookie fan and I don’t like too many of the recipes out there because of the spread so they’re kinda sad to decorate lol. These look perfect!
After 3 failed recipes this was THEE best! Thank you so much! My cookies are literally flawless!
Made these last night. Took to church today. Loved them!
The scrapping paddle attachment is my "go to" as well as the "pouring shield" when dealing with flour or icing sugar in my KitchenAid.
I LOVE crunchy cookies!! My husband and kids live chewy so i always keep a pan in the oven a bit longer for me haha
He just yeets everything away 🤣

My family has been tight on money lately so I've been looking for basic recipe deserts and this one is amazing!! I didn't have corn starch but was able to substitute it with corn flour and they still didn't spread and turned out very nice!!
Corn starch and corn flour is the same thing x
