As 1960's baby I can still remember the real cars on the road. Never had this particular model from dinky but absolutely love them. Nice work on the resto
Love these old Dinkys Rob, considering the age of them they are simply beautiful castings and you've done that one proud. Good job and I'm glad you kept the original tyres.
Lovely restoration Job. My dad took his RAF driving test on one of these so it certainly brings back memories of my childhood. If I remember correctly Vauxhall had a similar shape body and someone around here is still driving one. Fantastic cars and built like a tank to last a lifetime. Enjoyed the video.
Fabulous vanguard phase 1 my mates dad had one in 1952 column gears and a full six seater drove like a dream came in black modelled on USA car the spats covering the rear wheels came off for wheel changes lovely job for a gracious old lady
Another great job Rob you did just enough to make it look great and respect it’s life. My granddad had a Standard Vanguard I remember it was his last car also before BL it was Standard Triumph and the Vanguard was to be replaced by the Triumph 2000 great job Rob 👍👍👍👍
Rob: All my respect to the respect you treated this old model, that's the kind of things that makes you not only a great restorer but an special toy's soul preservator. Great job 👍
Hi rob wow that's an old casting my brother had the real car of one of these in the 60s it was black. It was his first car in Australia. We came from West ham and moved to Aus in 64 I was 4 on the ship on the way out.Excellent job as always and the colour looks aurthentic for that time.
Lovely restoration, Rob. I love those old, basic Dinky cars. There is a charm to them that no other toy make has. That beige/brown colour was a favourite of Dinky - I have a station wagon in exactly that colour. The usual colour for the Vanguard, an immediate post war vehicle (1947), was black, due to post war shortages. I have a 1/76 scale model of one in RAF blue - they were used as staff vehicles, and it's an attractive look. But leaving your model it as it would have looked when new, was the right choice; it's simple, understated, and quite lovely. Nice one.
It's really amazing to see how similar cars of the time were, just like nowadays. This Vanguard could almost be a Nash 'airflyte', or a Peugeot 203. Love your videos by the way, it really gives me inspiration to start working on my own Matchboxes.
What a beauty, these Dinkys are piece of art, simple beautiful cars 🙂 Unfortunatunely i don't have any original Dinky cars, only lots of Editions Atlas Dinky replicas, which are also cool models.
Hello Rob, what a nice model, the paint work is so close it looks original, the tyres are alot better shiny and details at it off,ive got a dinky or corgi dinky of a consul or zephyr this size tidy needs some work, gotta do that soon.
Hi Rob...looks fantastic and I like the fact that you didn't over restore it and kept the wheels original as a nod to it's original condition. The bases on these older Dinky toys weren't painted...they were "cold blued". It is a bit more expensive than painting but a small bottle will last forever. It just needs the old " blue" taking off with a rotary tool and a little bit of the bluing solution painting on. The result is amazing and looks authentic. Hope you restore some more of the models from the same era, they are well worth the effort.
Stunning, a tribute to the original collector you have done him proud.
Excellent restoration Standard Vangaurd 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Love the way you pay tribute to the older generations of diecast vehicles.
