Mike Dornan visits Gloucester leisure centre, where avid collectors and aficionados of vintage Dinky vehicles have gathered from far and wide for a "swap meet". What is it about collecting toys that brings people here from as far afield as France, Australia and Dubai?

My 1960's Corgi & Dinky's are down, in the basement, in a box. They were all played with, though.
I wish I still had my dinky toys from childhood. I was really not pleased when our model railway stuff,which filled a large wicker box up entirely,was disposed of against my wishes along with a couple of other cherished family heirlooms.

Back in the 70s I had some good corgis brilliant stuff love it
I went along to a toy fair earlier this year which was mainly cars and trains. It was nearly all middle aged men going round the stalls similar to this film but I wonder in 25 years time if young people now will take their places or if they will move onto just vintage 80s electronics and figures. With inflation, those prices in 1983 seem high and I can only think that the value of these cars will reduce as the nostalgia won't be there.

very interesting video, i collect old die casts on and off and some of those old dinky's featured would now be worth a fortune even in chipped condition, the hobby has grown immensely since then but it is fascinating to see how much dinky toys were going for even that far back, the company had only been gone a few years by 83
