I started reading Dr. Strange comics as a teen back in the 60s. I waited 50 years for this movie to be made and it was worth the wait. I saw it in a theatre in 3D when it first came out. Amazing.

I share your comic book experience reading Dr, Strange growing up, although I started in the 70s from old comic books that originally came out in the late 60s drawn by Gene Colan. Later on I started to discover older issues drawn by Steve Ditko. When the movie came out, I just had to get the ultimate experience by seeing it in IMAX 3D and was not disappointed.

There's actually a deleted scene where before Strange meets Mordo, he finds a dog with a broken leg. He creates like a makeshift brace or cast for the dog, which helps Mordo see the good in Strange.

In case anyone was curious, the Cloak of Levitation was never animate or sentient before or after Strange got it. Comics, animated movies, nothing ever gave the personality it has here, but I honestly think it's a great addition to the Dr. Strange lore, they make good use of it being alive! The behind the scenes reveal its inspiration was mostly from Aladdin's Magic Carpet, which made so much sense once I read that.

Brutal fact: Kevin Feige confirmed that the loop time battle beetween Strange and Dormammu was an equivalent of aprox. 50 years. If every rounds have a duration of 10 min aprox then Stephen died like a 2629800 times.
But the most brutal of all of this is the fact that everytime he respawned his body was still feeling the pain of his last death, so basically was a eternity of pain and suffering until Dormammu just give up

1:06:25 Dr. Palmer's final jump scare - screaming when the mop fell over in the closet - was unscripted. The mop and bucket just happened to fall in reaction to the pyrotechnics the filmmakers used to create the lighting effect of the portal and scared the heck out of Rachel McAdams and she screamed. The Director liked the reaction so much he left it in the film.

If you have a good surgeon, they will ask you what type of music you like. My back surgeon asked me how I felt about AC/DC or Metallica. Confused me ask why...and he explained that he likes music while he works. Win-win and I went under to AC/DC and came to with Queen. 😂

The thing with the ancient ones use of dark power is we dont really get enough info on it. While it's never officially stated anywhere how long Dr. Strange was bargaining with Dormammu, it could very well have been thousands of years. Either way, it's fun to think of how much larger his XP got as a result. Not only could he have picked up some tricks watching all the attacks Dormammu is killing him with (perhaps it had to keep getting changed up as he found counters to them), but with Strange's great memory, he also could be practicing more experimental combinations with stuff he'd previously read too.

There was a fair amount of anger from the Asian comic-reading community when the casting of the Ancient One was announced, because the Ancient One was an elderly Asian man in the comics, not a Celtic woman. I honestly do hate when they “white-wash” roles like that, but I can’t find the heart to argue it in this case because Tilda Swinton is so damn good. 15:53 Yes, she was the White Witch in the Narnia movies, and she was Gabriel in _Constantine_ (the movie with Keanu Reeves).

The special effects of Dr. Strange in the "trippy world" shown to him by The Ancient One was based on illustrations in the Marvel comic books that were drawn by artist Steve Ditko, and later by artist Gene Colan. They provided the basis for the visuals for dimensions and worlds beyond our reality. They were still very limited by the 2 dimensional print format to really bring that imaginary world to life so the visual artists for the MCU came up with their own version and expanded on it with cinematic technology. Whether their work was inspired by recreational chemistry has never been discussed, at least as far as I am aware of.

The word "Shamballa" umm the wifi password is actually a reference to the Hindu and Buddhist text... In hinduism it is said that the last avatar of Lord Vishnu which is 'Kalki' will be born in the place called "Shamballa" Even in Buddhist text it is said that the place Shamballa is in the himalayas no one can see that city without the divine energy that city is filled with people of immense knowledge.. There is a movie Nick in Indian cinema which recently released and did so well in the Indian Cinema called "Kalki 2898AD" You can watch that it's the first part of trilogy and the vfx are quite good not the best but better to match the level of Mad max.. it's actually kind of mad max but totally based on HIndu text with some modern interpretations you will love it even Quynh can watch it with you..
Btw in HIndiuism there is no possiblity where you can't deny the teachings.. Hinduism has so many paths to follow even an atheist who doesn't believe in god but wants to find the real meaning can become a Hindu.. The only thing that we believe upon is Karma... We say you should respect your teacher or guru what he is teaching but there are some students like Kaicilius who rejects the teaching and think of themselves are they are ready to take upon the world then even guru release him from his shadow but that doesnt mean the guru will not protect the world or any person who is going to get harmed by that reckless student.. obviously the student's karma was to bring chaos but guru's karma is to restore order... But yes once you surrender yourself to a guru then don't ask question because this is where you will get all your answer a soul can't reach to it's goal without getting all theanswers... there is a very thin line people don't understand about they just take it as heads or tails... Either this or that..no... Even if you reject the god's teaching by saying that I don't believe in you I will go aroudn and find my answer it's okay you can do that no god is gonna punish you.. But when you roam around met every scholar met every guru in the world and they are leading you to the same path it means that your EGO is coming in front of you to attain the knowledge.. that's when karma comes into play once you realised that the what world is saying about the universe is true but you are blinded by your own ego and still you continue that then karma says that it goes into your own destruction.. You can question everything in Hinduism or Sanatan Dharma, Buddhism, Jainism and Sikhism all of these are parts of Sanatan Dharma these are different paths to attain the same goal.... Instead of facing this question that why are these paths are now different and not in under one umbrella start questioning which path is favourable for me.. You believe in warrior and charity go to sikhism you believe in non violence and compassion go to jainism you believe in kindness and inner health of your soul and body go to Buddhism but if you want all of that come to Hinduism.. Just don't exploit any path of knowledge that's it..

Most surgeons I've worked with like some sort of music. Some are specific about what they want playing, others leave it up to the OR team. Had one surgeon who had an extremely calming playlist that he liked to play and damn that music was hard to stay awake to, especially if we were doing a robotic case. Room goes dark and just this soft calm music playing lol was a nightmare trying to not fall asleep, but the surgeon loved it and worked best with it. Another surgeon, my favorite one, liked having karaoke music playing (and would go to karaoke with his coworkers often). He heard me singing under my breath and said by all means enjoy yourself haha and was determined to find a song that I couldn't sing along to lmao. After I've got the OR set up and ready for surgery, whenever the patient is brought in, I like to ask them what music they like and have that playing for them to go under to. Tends to help patients that are very nervous and at least have that comfort before going to sleep.

To answer your question about hallucinations- I dropped acid when I was 21, 22 (I'm 47 now)- the hallucinations were not like this at all. It was more like seeing things that I knew weren't right, like, I had very short hair, but I looked in a mirror (which they say you shouldn't do on LSD) and saw myself with very long hair and the wrong clothes, that I wasn't wearing. I also took a medication (Levaquin, a strong antibiotic)that gave me hallucinations as a side effect and it was very similar- I sort of saw things overlaid reality, Like a tall bookshelf next to my bed, with books falling out of it, superimposed over the shelf that only came halfway up the wall. The only thing that made me see images like this movie was the time when I ate a weed edible and hallucinated colorful, tiled/prismatic tunnels, and I was zooming through them, but they never ended (it was very strong, later we found the normal dose was a quarter of the cookie, I ate the whole cookie). Just spiraling through tiled-looking, colorful tunnels that never ended. I could only squeeze my eyes shut and hang on. Be careful with those edibles, kids!

Some aspects, perhaps. As I understand it, not ecstasy (MDMT) either. Possibly the depersonalization drug DMT as I’ve read descriptions that are eerily similar to some of the imagery shown in the movie (I’ve no experience with the latter two drugs-I don’t believe they existed way back then). But we’re talking more than fifty years ago!
About the movie’s cosmology: I think there’s a difference between siphoning power from the multiverse to fuel sorcery-and selectively tunneling in for a specific, dangerous power for unimpeachable reasons-in contrast with cutting a deal with the ruling entity of that dark universe and selling out your world (and all six billion lives) as payment.
It was a kind of take on karma: karma is inevitable, bold face, full stop. She knew the circumstances of her death, the who and the what-she knew Strange was involved-just not the when. By implication, when he showed up at her doorstep she had to know the end was coming.
Although necessary for Strange to advance I was sorry to see her go-she was a great character, and a pity she’s lost to the MCU.

48:34 Throughout the MCU there are these...unfortunate post-credit scenes that never get paid off due to lack of foresight on the part of the studio. This just makes them comical in hindsight.

When Doctor strange is driving really fast and they're talking about the Air Force Colonel with the lower spine injury and he's not interested... They were talking about Rhodey after he got hurt/fell out of the sky in civil war.

5:40 This is referring to Rhody/War Machine's injury in Captain America: Civil War.

Bachelor's Degree didn't prove Doctor Strange wrong at all. Doctor Strange asked if physiotherapy had ever healed someone with such extensive damage. BA's "proof" that it had was a guy who quit physiotherapy and ended up being healed another way.

The fact that he doesn't heal his hands at the end, even though he could, is just *perfect* as how to build a character arc.
