So many people totally missed the fact that Wanda's mind has been corrupted by the Darkhold and her actions in this movie wasn't under her own free will. Think about how Bucky was brainwashed by Hydra...but 50x worse. Agents of Shield season 4 really shows the full potential and power of that book so I definitely give Wanda a pass for her actions in this movie
I think you missed the fact that Wanda read the Darkhold of her own free will, knowing it would corrupt her mind. This is the equivalent of saying you'd give a drunk driver a pass if they killed someone with their car because they were under the influence of alcohol.

Blackagar Boltegon (Black Bolt) is the Marvel character that leads The Inhumans. At one time Kevin Feige had planned to introduce The Inhumans with a film during Phase 2. Those plans were revised and the movie was turned into a TV series on ABC that starred Anson Mount as Black Bolt - the same actor that appeared as the character in this film. The difference between sorcery and witchcraft haven't fully been described as of yet. My own theory based off different descriptions of magic sorceress harness energy from other dimensions. Witchcraft draw energy from themselves or other sources of magic converting it into their own power. Another example of the difference between the two is witches are born with power and sorcerer must learn to wield the power.
The woman at the end of the movie is Clea. A powerful sorceresss and stranges eventual wife in the comics. However how similer her movie counterpart will be to her comic counterpart is still to be determined.

If you'll recall, Agatha's fingers were black tipped due to her using the Darkhold. Wanda here also had the same as well as Sorcerer Supreme Strange from universe 838. - As Sinister Strange mentioned (and just fyi, he is not the same as the What If Strange), the Darkhold takes a toll on its reader. When our Stephen used it, it definitely came back to affect him a la the ending. As for other points, it seems other commenters have pretty much covered the rest! People often forget that Aang is a child, you are asking a 12year old to commit murder! All his past lives were adults who led a very different life to him. He stood on his belief and went above and beyond to find a way to accomplish his goal while sparing the life of ozai.
One thing I find really funny is the vase Christine is holding as she burns up the evil spirits, is the same vase Steven grabs in the first movie, when the sanctum is attacked by the followers of dormmamu. the bad guy pauses for a moment and says "you don't know how to use that thing, do you?" And the battle commences. Now we see what it's capable of 🤣

So as fans we have to be happy we get GOOD long real movies of our childhood memories not just cartoons. If we as fans just say “it sucks” but don’t give examples how we’d be better then we just fall into the trap of being sheep that echo bs cause we can’t think for ourselves. I get they are favorite characters but take a step back from the crowd and your own opinion watch from a fan perspective as it just being a movie and it’s good.
I love this movie, and I love that they got Sam Rami to direct it. I don't know that any other director could have done this one justice the way he did. Also, you've got to love the obligatory Bruce Campbell cameo in his movies XD
Black Bolt is from the Inhumans. They did a one season show about them on ABC quite a while back that is not considered canon (even though they use the same actor to play his variant in this movie). As a Marvel fan, I would recommend that you check it out just because it's part of the zeitgeist so to speak, but it is not considered canon and, frankly, it's really not that great of quality if we're being honest. People were pretty disappointed with it. I still recommend watching it, though.
Just a little context in the comics Wanda and Pietro were taken and experimented on as infants by a mad scientist known as the High Evolutionary. It was from these experiments that they gained their unique powers. All of this happened on Mount Wundagore which makes sense why they would wanna introduce it to the MCU as a place that holds a significance to Wanda

In the comics, the Darkhold was authored by an Elder God* named Chthon. *In Marvel, there are multiple levels of deities. Simply put, from the bottom: - Ordinary mortals (Humans and aliens) - "Gods" (like Thor, Odin, Loki, Hela, Bast, Konshu, Zeus, etc.) - Elder Gods (primordial, Cosmic-created Earth deities) - Cosmic Beings - Multiversal Beings (like Celestials) - Living Tribunal (seen in this movie for a brief instant) - The One Above All (the most literal absolute God of the Marvel Multiverse, which in the comics usually looks like Stan Lee) And since it came up in this movie, I also want to explain Chaos Magic. Put simply, "Chaos Magic" is actually the original, very first form of magic to exist. That's why it's SO much stronger than even the Sorcerer Supreme's magic. The "Cycloptopus" is known in the comics as Shuma Gorath an ancient demonic being and longtime foe of Dr. Strange. The green skinned minotaur is Rintrah an extra-dimensionsal being from the planet R'Vaal. A disciple at Kamar Taj. The Darkhold is the Book of the Damned and it corrupts whoever possesses it. That is why Wanda went bad. The Darkhold was created by C'Thon an Eldritch demon Lord. It is pure chaos magic. Wanda uses chaos magic. So it was in essence made for her as a means to grant C'Thon the ability to enter our dimension. 😮 Pizza Poppa is played by Director Sam Raimi's longtime friend and ally Bruce Campbell (Ash in the Evil Dead franchise) who made cameos in all three of the Raimi / Tobey Maguire Spider-Man movies. "Forkhead Guy" is better known as Blackagar Boltagon or Black Bolt. Leader of the inhumans. Created by Jack Kirby and Stan Lee in the pages of the Fantastic Four. Black Bolt can destroy anything with a spoken word. Anson Mount who plays Black Bolt also starred in an Inhumans mini-series which sadly did not do well. He also plays Captain Pike in the Kurtzman Trek show Strange New Worlds as well as Star Trek Discovery its predecessor. That wasn't an Eternal. That was Clea a sorceress and love interest of Dr. Strange and niece of the Dread Dormammu. 😮
I didn’t expect Wanda to have a complete psychotic breakdown like she did in this movie. I thought maybe a demon is after this girl and Wanda’s helping that demon because he promised to return her to her children which is kinda what’s happening but not Cthon, maybe Mephisto manipulating her desire to be with her children. She did not deserve to become the Villain, she deserved to learn from her losses and move on like everyone else does. I don’t think Wanda would ever personally decide to go after a child’s life, especially after just losing her own. Wanda has always been deeply emotional, the last thing she would want is for someone to suffer the way she did.
So the evil Dr strange in this movie is definitely not the same Dr strange as the one from that what if episode and therefore doesn't have the octopus power or any of all that

Just to clear this up, sorcerers can be anyone. Its an art that can be learned by humans, mutants or any species alike. Witches are born with magic, it comes naturally to them it IS 2nd nature. And in marvel the term "warlock" isn't used much. Wanda's son "Billy" in the comics states that the term warlock is stupid, and he'd rather just be called a witch.

In a broader sense, the term 'Sorcery' is actually a generic term to which witchcraft, wizardry and other forms of magic belong. But this term is hardly ever used in the MCU because they prefer the term 'Mystic Arts'. But the Sorcery that Wong was talking about is Eldritch Magic. They used the former to call it mystic art instead of the latter. Even the Ancient One, is calling the magic she teaches as 'Sorcery', instead of Eldritch Magic.
Eldritch Magic (Sorcery) - is the form of magic (mystic art) the Ancient One, Dr. Strange, Wong and everyone else in Kamar-taj practice. This magic is done by harnessing energies drawn from their own or other dimensions of the multiverse in order to cast spells and generate shields or weapons. suffice to say, this magic doesn't require anything of them other than being a conduit. The power (magical energy) that is used to perform this magic is not innately theirs, it is borrowed. That is why anyone can learn this magic and develop aptitude without requiring affinity to use it.
Witchcraft - is another form of magic that are exclusive to certain individuals called witches and warlocks. This mystic art includes runecraft, in which a unit of magic called spell is cast in the form of symbols or characters. In this case, you have to be born a witch/warlock in order to become one. In the comics, the community of witches/warlock have their own Goddess to whom they dedicate their craft and is the one responsible for keeping this mystic art. 2. "Her acting is spot on... in this. (Ms. October)" - Oh my god, thank you! Reactors complimenting the performance of Elizabeth in this movie is hard to come by among other reactors on UA-cam, because they were too focused on the flaws of the movie. I mean, I'll admit, the writers have done a terrible job in creating the whole plot, but one thing that makes this movie worth watching, is the wonderful work the actors/actresses have invested. I actually sometimes imitate Elizabeth Olsen and Kathryn Hahn's lines and facial expressions. I used them as a way for me to practice my English orally.
3. "Wundagore? (Ms. October)" - is the place in which Wanda (Comics) was experimented on by the High Evolutionary, instead of Baron von Strucker. Wanda had unknowingly formed a connection with Chthon (Elder God of Chaos), by giving her a portion of his energy in hopes that Wanda would become his future vessel. As a result, this connection established her affinity to Chaos Magic.

He is a Cosmic Entity and his role is to oversee and maintain balance in the different realities/universes that make up the Multiverse. At the end of the day the difference between sorcery and witchcraft is simply in the belief of the practitioners, they are two schools of magic with different practices

The difference between sorcery and witchcraft haven't fully been described as of yet. My own theory based off different descriptions of magic sorceress harness energy from other dimensions. Witchcraft draw energy from themselves or other sources of magic converting it into their own power. Another example of the difference between the two is witches are born with power and sorcerer must learn to wield the power.

- Wanda's mind was corrupted by the Darkhold. If you'll recall, Agatha's fingers were black tipped due to her using the Darkhold. Wanda here also had the same as well as Sorcerer Supreme Strange from universe 838.
- As Sinister Strange mentioned (and just fyi, he is not the same as the What If Strange), the Darkhold takes a toll on its reader. When our Stephen used it, it definitely came back to affect him a la the ending.
As for other points, it seems other commenters have pretty much covered the rest! But, as always, let me know if you have other questions!

Black Bolt is from the Inhumans. They did a one season show about them on ABC quite a while back that is not considered canon (even though they use the same actor to play his variant in this movie). As a Marvel fan, I would recommend that you check it out just because it's part of the zeitgeist so to speak, but it is not considered canon and, frankly, it's really not that great of quality if we're being honest. People were pretty disappointed with it. I still recommend watching it, though.

Just a little context in the comics Wanda and Pietro were taken and experimented on as infants by a mad scientist known as the High Evolutionary. It was from these experiments that they gained their unique powers. All of this happened on Mount Wundagore which makes sense why they would wanna introduce it to the MCU as a place that holds a significance to Wanda

Also, I'm sure you've already heard the news about Avengers: The Kang Dynasty being cancelled and replaced by Avengers: Doomsday. Well, after The Kang Dynasty's cancellation, the full plot of what it would have been was "leaked." Pretty much none of it is relevant now, but one detail that was going to be revealed regarded the Darkhold:
The Darkhold would have been revealed to have been authored by one of the Kang variants, serving as a "barrier" of sorts to the Multiverse, ensuring that no one unworthy of such power could access the Multiverse (and thus reach the Kangs).
In the comics, the Darkhold was authored by an Elder God* named Chthon.
*In Marvel, there are multiple levels of deities. Simply put, from the bottom:
- Ordinary mortals (Humans and aliens)
- "Gods" (like Thor, Odin, Loki, Hela, Bast, Konshu, Zeus, etc.)
- Elder Gods (primordial, Cosmic-created Earth deities)
- Cosmic Beings
- Multiversal Beings (like Celestials)
- Living Tribunal (seen in this movie for a brief instant)
- The One Above All (the most literal absolute God of the Marvel Multiverse, which in the comics usually looks like Stan Lee)
And since it came up in this movie, I also want to explain Chaos Magic.
Put simply, "Chaos Magic" is actually the original, very first form of magic to exist. In modern times, "Chaos Magic" is believe to just be old, primitive, useless magic- something that modern sorcery has grown beyond. But that isn't true. That's why it's SO much stronger than even the Sorcerer Supreme's magic.
Additionally, in the comics, Wanda Maximoff/The Scarlet Witch was born on Wundagore Mountain, where the dying Elder God Chthon gave her a sliver of his Chaos Magic, with the intention of eventually resurrecting through her as his vessel.
The "Cycloptopus" is known in the comics as Shuma Gorath an ancient demonic being and longtime foe of Dr. Strange. They referred to it as Giganto in the MCU for copyright reasons. 😂
A male witch is a warlock. They use wands as a focus. Wizards use staffs. Like Gandalf or Saruman.
The green skinned minotaur is Rintrah an extra-dimensionsal being from the planet R'Vaal. A disciple at Kamar Taj.
The Darkhold is the Book of the Damned and it corrupts whoever possesses it. That is why Wanda went bad. The Darkhold was created by C'Thon an Eldritch demon Lord. It is pure chaos magic. Wanda uses chaos magic. So it was in essence made for her as a means to grant C'Thon the ability to enter our dimension. 😮
Pizza Poppa is played by Director Sam Raimi's longtime friend and ally Bruce Campbell (Ash in the Evil Dead franchise) who made cameos in all three of the Raimi / Tobey Maguire Spider-Man movies. Spider-Man 1 as the wrestling announcer, Spider-Man 2 as the Theater Usher and in Spider-Man 3 as the restaurant Maitre 'D. 😅
Technically all the numbered universes are part of the Marvel Multiverse. "616" is the mainline continuity universe though. 😂

"Forkhead Guy" is better known as Blackagar Boltagon or Black Bolt. Leader of the inhumans. Created by Jack Kirby and Stan Lee in the pages of the Fantastic Four. Black Bolt can destroy anything with a spoken word.
Anson Mount who plays Black Bolt also starred in an Inhumans mini-series which sadly did not do well. He also plays Captain Pike in the Kurtzman Trek show Strange New Worlds as well as Star Trek Discovery its predecessor.

I didn’t expect Wanda to have a complete psychotic breakdown like she did in this movie. I thought maybe a demon is after this girl and Wanda’s helping that demon because he promised to return her to her children which is kinda what’s happening but not Cthon, maybe Mephisto manipulating her desire to be with her children.
She did not deserve to become the Villain, she deserved to learn from her losses and move on like everyone else does. I don’t think Wanda would ever personally decide to go after a child’s life, especially after just losing her own. Wanda has always been deeply emotional, the last thing she would want is for someone to suffer the way she did.

Just to clear this up, sorcerers can be anyone. Its an art that can be learned by humans, mutants or any species alike. Witches are born with magic, it comes naturally to them it IS 2nd nature. And in marvel the term "warlock" isn't used much. Wanda's son "Billy" in the comics states that the term warlock is stupid, and he'd rather just be called a witch.
