Funniest moment in the whole first Avengers movie is Loki getting ragdolled by Hulk. Even if I'm having a bad day, that moment never fails to make me laugh.
1) "dost mother know, you weareth her drapes?" ad-lib by RDJ, you can see the smirk on Hemsworth's face 2) "That man is playing Galaga!" another RDJ ad-lib They added the Galaga screen in post production 3) Tony's bag of blueberries - RDJ hid snacks on the set, so many in fact that the crew couldn't find them all 4) Tony's Arc Reactor - Howard Stark found the formula for the "new Element" by studying the Tesseract, it produces the same type of energy as the scepter and the tesseract, that's why it canceled out the scepter's brainwashing ability 5) Shawarma - RDJ spotted a Shawarma joint near where they were filming and ad-lib'd the line into the movie. They filmed the end credits scene well after production, so much that Chris Evans was growing a beard for another movie. The number of Shawarma lookups on google went up like 700% after this movie hit theaters 6) The Waitress - There is a deleted scene with her and Steve, she gets to know him a bit. That's why her other scenes seem more important than they actually are
After Tony does the Jonah thing and lands on the sidewalk (59:28 in this video) he lands right in front of the shawarma restaurant. Right below the Farmer's Insurance sign.
There's a great video that explains it all better, but basically with each movie that goes by, Tony encounters a weakness with his current suit that gets upgraded in the next one. In this movie his suit is able to absorb all the electricity Thor shoots at him, something that his suit couldn't handle in Iron Man 2 when he fought Vanko and his electric whips.
I assume you’ve been informed of this, but the actor playing The Other (the liaison between Thanos and Loki) is the same actor who played Wesley in Buffy and later Angel.
fun fact - the waitress was played by Ashley Johnson, the voice of Ellie in The Last of Us and one time little Chrissie Seaver on Growing Pains. there was a deleted scene where Steve was drinking coffee at the restaurant where she worked and Stan Lee told Cap to ask her out on a date.
OMG I used to think Tom Hiddleston was bullshitting when he said Loki's behavior in Avengers was due to his enslavement to the mind stone. But I just now recognized.that he has deep circles under his eyes in that opening sequence, which is exactly like what the mind stone does to its slaves. This is great for Loki's hero arc!
This is also the only movie where Loki's eyes are blue -- and they go back to green when he gets ragdolled by Hulk! "Cognitive recalibration. I hit you really hard on the head."
girl, if she's crying over this she's going to be WRECKED later on whew thoughts and prayers (btw this is a good thing, not a bad thing i like when people show emotion i maybe teared up a bit but she was wrecked so i can't imagine stuff i actually really got even more emotional over will impact her)
My favorite character will always be Tony Stark, because of his character growth! He starts out so arrogant and being selfish, but starts thinking about others and being a better person!
41:33 "Somebody save him". Well,,, "Agents of Shield" starts after "Iron Man 3". Might be a something very nice there... By the way, you should check out the Marvel One Shot "A Funny Thing Happened On The Way to Thor's Hammer". It's 4 minutes of prime Coulson.
Nick and Quynh find joy in the after-credits' light, their laughter echoes as they discuss the film’s delight. Quynh admired the heroes' growth from clash to bond, while Nick felt the portrayal of Hulk was truly fond. Quynh notes Hulk's depth, from scientist to fierce might, Nick reflects on the realism of each hero's fight. They mourn Coulson's loss, a sorrow they both share, and ponder Fury's schemes, a morally gray affair. Quynh felt Thor’s might was less than she had thought, Nick saw Iron Man’s humor, the best moments they sought. Their dialogue dances through their favorite parts, from the laughter shared to the poignant moments that touch hearts.
Joss Whedon is also responsible for the series Firefly and the movie that followed it called Serenity. You should consider reacting to them on your channel.
Joss Whedon is a master at directing shows/films with large ensemble casts. The Avengers, Buffy, and Firefly are all amazing examples of his skill. I'm excited for you both to continue the MCU adventure. It just gets better and better, (for the most part).
Before anyone comes for me, I'm aware of the crap Joss has pulled on various sets and am not touting him as a good person. Just saying he's great at bringing a well picked cast together and making awesome art with them.
When I first saw the scene with hulk pummeling loki into the floor, I laughed a lot harder in the theater than I really should have, but it was just too perfect.
A lot of people miss a lot of detail in that media sequence at the end. They show positive responses to the Avengers, they show people who are concerned about all the things going on, they show a memorial for the dead and missing, and they show a politician who wants to hold the Avengers accountable for the situation. The seeds were already being sown for a storyline where the government would want to place restrictions on the Avengers, and conflicts relating to this, if they wanted to use it. Ironically, years later, we get a payoff of sorts with Captain America: Civil War.
GREAT REACTION! Joss Whedon's 'unfinished symphony' would be TV series 'Firefly', followed by 'The River Tam Sessions' & the movie 'Serenity' for the film finish. - LOKI'S PLAY: Loki wanted to be captured. His scepter was affecting their minds & causing aggravation. He wanted the Hulk to destroy the SHIELD Helicarrier & keep the Avengers from working as a team. Loki failed on both counts.
After you get to the end of phase 3, you might want to check out Marvel's Agents of SHIELD tv series. I think you'll both be pleasantly surprised. That's all I'll say. 😉
I'm so glad you made the decision to watch stuff with your girlfriend more and I have watched many of them. The interaction between the two of you is so fun to watch. Been watching you all the way back to your Buffy reactions and love your solo ones as well. Additionally, I have watched a ton of Avengers reactions and I think her reactions during this movie are my favorite I've ever seen. She was so expressive.....and you were good too.😁
Edward Norton's specialty is playing a nice guy with a dark secret self. Banner is the genuine good guy to balance Hulk's monster. I think Ruffalo is a much better choice for the character.
I think the director said that when Hulk punched Thor it was more playful as to suggest that the Hulk has a more fun side to him. At the end of The Incredible Hulk, Bruce said he couldn't control the Hulk but he could "aim" it and in that scene with Natasha he was aiming his anger at her and even implied he was going to willingly transform and smash her. This was because of Loki's Septer. Also at the end of The Incredible Hulk Banner found out how to transform at will which is how he does so later on in the movie. Everyone was saying how much of a grip Bruce had on the Hulk and it was because of the last movie as we see he is interacting with people more and is more confident in the Hulk, but is still weary not to use him.
Mark Ruffalo's portrayal of Bruce Banner is very reminiscent of the way Bill Bixby played the character in the old Incredible Hulk TV series from the 70's. A calm soft spoken man trying to control the rage monster monster in him that can't be controlled.
Also also to add on they didnt carry much from the standalone hulk movie but basically hulk and banner hate each others guts and want to be rid of each other but cant leave, the hulk is the manifestation of bruces repressed rage and trauma (drunk daddy killed mommy when he was a boy) the hulks power is limited only by banners hold on him which is why its soo very important for banner to keep a grip on his anger else hulk could walk and there'd be earthquakes on the otherside of earth
Dont think people realise how much under the influence Loki is by the 'spear'. The difference at the start and the end is huge. It affects everyone. Was so exciting when this come out. Love Nat When Tony is falling, Thor starts to spin his hammer to fly up and catch him.but then Hulk jumps up.first
Joss Whedon is the creator of Buffy (among other shows). He also had his first attempt at Age of Ultron in one early Buffy episode (titled I Robot... You Jane) (when you get to that movie, you'll probably see the similarities), and Buffy as a show influenced a lot of supernatural and sci-fi shows that came after it. And in my opinion, it influenced the MCU as well (the world-building, storytelling, big bads, and all that stuff).
When Hulk attacked the black widow on the helicarrier it was because he was under the influence of Loki. When Hulk punched Thor in Grand Central Station, it wasn’t an attack or a loss of control. It was more like a punch you would give your friend in the shoulder. Good job, brother. The problem is the Hulk is very strong and it sent Thor flying. That’s why it’s funny.
Watched the joss whedon commentary a few years back, and his comments that "it's won by soldiers" immediately cuts to The Soldier and then when that Cap scene is finished with "you should have left it in the ocean" cuts directly to tony in the ocean, those comments have stuck with me for some reason, and make for pretty great writing imo!!
Man, i forgot how this movie is so good, before 2012 i only had seen iron man, hulk and captain america and were good movies, but this one... Funny, action, dinamic, ending, was really special, every character has there shinning moment
There are clues through out this movie, Fury said, "Why does it feel like Loki is the only one that wants to be here" that is the thing about these movies. The Graphics and CGI are good and the average person will be distracted. The dialogue is the most important because you don't want to be the last person to know what's really going on.
1:05:55 Joss Whedon had written and directed the film Serenity (the movie that completed his TV series Firefly) in 2005, seven years prior to this film.
Look up the show Agents of Shield, i'm not sure where it falls in the marvel timeline because it was a series but it'll give you some answers about Agent Colson
This wasn’t his first movie. Serenity from the Firefly series was long before this. Whedon also did Cabin in the Woods before this movie. Chris Hemsworth was in it. There was a scene in it where he seemed really heroic and I think he actually recommended him for the role of Thor based on his performance there.
"I don't know if [Joss Whedon] had done any movies before this..." He had, actually! Not many, though. As a director, he had only directed "Serenity" (the movie version of his TV series "Firefly"), which he also wrote. That movie is amazing, by the way, and you guys would love it! (FYI: watching "Firefly" beforehand is a plus but, not a requirement). Honestly, I can definitely understand why Marvel would feel confident hiring him as a writer/director after seeing his directorial work in "Serenity", along with his pre-existing "Buffy" resume. Also, just as a screenwriter, before this Whedon had co-written the horror-comedy "Cabin in the Woods" and the original "Toy Story"!😳He, also, had a bit of a reputation as a movie "script doctor" aka the guy who comes in & "fixes" scripts that need a little help but, won't get full screenwriter credit. So, he definitely had more movie experience as a writer than he did as a director.
I must respectfully disagree that you don't need to watch Firefly before Serenity. I mean, yes, he supplies enough context and exposition to understand the setting and who the characters are, and enjoy the rest of the movie. But the emotional impact is so much stronger once you've been able to dive deep into who they are and the journey that got them there.
great reaction. Just get ready for more crying and paper tissues after phase 1. Once you get to the phase 3 movies oh boy...... You really get invested in these characters. I hope you guys get to catch up to Phase 5 :) and do not forget the TV shows on disney plus from phase 4 and forward.
One of the GREATEST reactions because of wen’s emotional response (sorry if i spelled that incorrectly just a dumb American that loves marvel) And nicks support for her, as her sees her reaction to the characters he’s introduced her to.
The moment Tony entered through the portal he passed out cause his suit wasn't exactly designed to go deep space. There was no life support system built in that would activate in an environment devoid of any air or atmosphere.
16:05 not so much shy but nervous. He’s trying to avoid confrontations. 25:44 RDJ just improvised the Galaga line and they decided to put the game on the screen. 26:57 that was referring to the battle between him and Abomination. 27:32 the snacks that RDJ is eating were his actual snacks. He would hide them around the sets for when he was hungry. They decided to quit trying to find them and just put them in the film. 28:40 Cap came from WW2 era where you didn’t question your military leaders and fight when they want you to. 29:33 the time he spent away from the world like they showed Edward Norton doing in the end of his movie helped him control his temper. 37:12 I wonder what would the Hulk do if Thor put the hammer on his chest like he did to Loki? I wonder if he’d be able to escape by breaking the floor beneath. 38:04 they told the pilot not to get close. 43:15 she needs to watch “Agents of Shield”. 44:10 Harry Dean Stanton 45:30 the Hulk really shook her up. 46:53 well remember Coulson said that it wasn’t going to work if they didn’t have something to rally around. So he was ok with dying if it meant bringing the Avengers together. 54:48 love Stark’s nicknames for people. 55:44 that sound effect of that craft crashing is the same sound as the pod racers in Star Wars episode 1. 57:17 the whole theater roared with laughter. The Hulk has to be the strongest so he had to be the only one left standing no matter what. Also the Hulk wasn’t finished with their earlier fight on the helicarrier. 58:38 this was the other time the theater was roaring with laughter. 58:57 just wait till you see “Thor: Ragnarok”. 59:14 the blast from Tony trying to destroy the machine gave the doctor a cognitive recalibration. 1:03:54 the Shawarma line was improvised by RDJ. He was supposed to just say “What’s next?” but it didn’t sit well so they rewrote it. 1:06:43 if you watch the original hulk series with Bill Bixby and Lou Ferrigno that’s how Bixby acted. 1:07:17 they filmed this months after wrapping. Chris Evans had a beard that he couldn’t shave and it cost too much to cgi it out so he didn’t get to eat and had to use his hand to hide the bad prosthetic they tried using.
57:49 because of a deleted scene; Captain sat in the cafe and talked to her, he is just a Boy from Brooklyn etc. doesn't made any sense to kept the full scene in and the way she looked at him without his helmet.
The woman who thanked Captain America on TV was supposed to be a love interest for Cap. This was where they wanted to set her up as a character but in the end they didn't keep her in the coming movies
57:54 Big unexplained moment here: there was a deleted scene (which you can find on UA-cam) where she served Steve at a cafe and she talked to him about Stark Tower and Iron Man. Now she’s recognizing the handsome blonde man who ordered coffee from her as Captain America.
Well I'm very sure the MCU is not goinig this way but in the comics, Hulk is nearly unbeatable and in one of the last part of this story, he is still there when the time and with it the universe ends. Because his selfhealing is so ridiculous strong, he can't age anymore. But I love the way Mark Ruffalo is playing the Hulk/Bruce Banner. Fun fact: the blueberrys or nealry EVERY food/drink RDJ is eating/drinking wasn't part of the skript. he just wanted to snack something while filming the scenes xD So the shawarma scene in the end was more a gag because of RDJ behaviour^^
Do you remember that waitress who kept looking at Cap, and then showed up in a news interview after the battle? She's played by Ashley Johnson, and Ashely is also one of the cast of incredibly talented voice actors in the animated show "The Legend Of Vox Machina", which I hope you guys do a reaction to at some point, because it is an excellent show that I believe you guys would really enjoy!
The sequences with Hulk destroying Loki, and Tony reflecting the beam off Cap's shield were actually part of the Marvel vs. Capcom arcade games. I remember playing them and using those exact moves. It was awesome watching this in the theater and seeing it happen live.

@@Starsaber222 me too. I felt like Bradley Cooper with the way he laughed in the A Team movie.
1) "dost mother know, you weareth her drapes?" ad-lib by RDJ, you can see the smirk on Hemsworth's face
2) "That man is playing Galaga!" another RDJ ad-lib They added the Galaga screen in post production
3) Tony's bag of blueberries - RDJ hid snacks on the set, so many in fact that the crew couldn't find them all
4) Tony's Arc Reactor - Howard Stark found the formula for the "new Element" by studying the Tesseract, it produces the same type of energy as the scepter and the tesseract, that's why it canceled out the scepter's brainwashing ability
5) Shawarma - RDJ spotted a Shawarma joint near where they were filming and ad-lib'd the line into the movie. They filmed the end credits scene well after production, so much that Chris Evans was growing a beard for another movie. The number of Shawarma lookups on google went up like 700% after this movie hit theaters
6) The Waitress - There is a deleted scene with her and Steve, she gets to know him a bit. That's why her other scenes seem more important than they actually are
After Tony does the Jonah thing and lands on the sidewalk (59:28 in this video) he lands right in front of the shawarma restaurant. Right below the Farmer's Insurance sign.
Yeah, I think Evan’s was working on Snowpearcer at the time of the reshoot
There's a great video that explains it all better, but basically with each movie that goes by, Tony encounters a weakness with his current suit that gets upgraded in the next one. In this movie his suit is able to absorb all the electricity Thor shoots at him, something that his suit couldn't handle in Iron Man 2 when he fought Vanko and his electric whips.
I assume you’ve been informed of this, but the actor playing The Other (the liaison between Thanos and Loki) is the same actor who played Wesley in Buffy and later Angel.
@@ninipookie Alexis Denisof, which you could have mentioned as well.
fun fact - the waitress was played by Ashley Johnson, the voice of Ellie in The Last of Us and one time little Chrissie Seaver on Growing Pains. there was a deleted scene where Steve was drinking coffee at the restaurant where she worked and Stan Lee told Cap to ask her out on a date.
She was also Terra on the Teen Titans series.
Pike from Vox Machina
If you want to see the very best work of Joss Whedon, you should check out the series Firefly.
And Buffy, AND Angel.
I came in to say exactly this. Firefly is the best
@corvus1970 angel 1st 2 seasons are fantastic the last season was good but cheesy
"This would never work if they didn't have something to...." Coulsons next word would have been "Avenge".
At last! Earth's Mightiest Heroes assemble together to make an epic journey! I'll never get tired of this movie.
Fun fact: Phil Coulson was MCU's original character, they added him to comics after he debuted in the mcu.
All the enslaved also have weird blue eyes. Hawkeye, Loki and Eric all get their heads slammed and after that their eye color is back to normal...
This is also the only movie where Loki's eyes are blue -- and they go back to green when he gets ragdolled by Hulk! "Cognitive recalibration. I hit you really hard on the head."
Old security guard, "Are you an alien?" was played by Harry Dean Stanton who 35 years earlier was in the movie "Alien".
girl, if she's crying over this she's going to be WRECKED later on
whew
thoughts and prayers
(btw this is a good thing, not a bad thing i like when people show emotion i maybe teared up a bit but she was wrecked so i can't imagine stuff i actually really got even more emotional over will impact her)
Two great lines back to back: "Got a suit? Then suit up!" followed by "Son... Just Don't."
My favorite character will always be Tony Stark, because of his character growth! He starts out so arrogant and being selfish, but starts thinking about others and being a better person!
Always Tony, ALWAYS! 🥹🥹🥰
“Is not this simpler?” “Than standing?” Lol I love Nick y’all should watch the sdcc clip of Loki showing up and saying kneel it’s so good
41:33 "Somebody save him". Well,,, "Agents of Shield" starts after "Iron Man 3". Might be a something very nice there...
By the way, you should check out the Marvel One Shot "A Funny Thing Happened On The Way to Thor's Hammer". It's 4 minutes of prime Coulson.
She reminds me a lot of Mantis, especially in the scene where she laughs watching Hulk crush Loki
I've been asking for this for a while, since he's gonna finish Buffy soon
And "Agents of Shield".
YES PLEASE 🎉
Dollhouse would be an Awesome reaction too.
Since Firefly is my favourite series, and I think Quynh will grok the characters quicker than most, you'll get no argument from me!
Joss also did the movie Serenity in 2005, which is the big screen follow up to the series Firefly. I can't recommend them enough!!!
"Somebody save him" . . . Somebody tell them about Marvel's Agents of S.H.E.I.L.D.
When I first saw the scene with hulk pummeling loki into the floor, I laughed a lot harder in the theater than I really should have, but it was just too perfect.
Hulk is so strong. He can do CPR from 3 feet away
Peggy founded Shield that’s why he’s defending it plus he’s a soldier so he’s suppose to listen and do what he’s told.
9:18 nick: war isn’t won by old men in suits *enter captain America, technically an old guy in a suit*
Not a suit. A uniform.
Holy snot is she invested. Those were real tears and fear. Honesty is in short supply these days but you ooze it. Good on you.
There’s a huge Buffy reference here but I can’t say. You’ll get it when you see it in Buffy. 😊
She was so expressive.....and you were good too.😁
Thank you Quynh for sharing your heartfelt reaction with us. This is what reaction channels are meant to be.
Watch Agents of Shield to find out about Agent Coulson :)
Would love to see you guys react to the Agents of Shield TV show!
Dont think people realise how much under the influence Loki is by the 'spear'. The difference at the start and the end is huge. It affects everyone.
Was so exciting when this come out.
Love Nat
When Tony is falling, Thor starts to spin his hammer to fly up and catch him.but then Hulk jumps up.first
Joss Whedon is the creator of Buffy (among other shows).
Plus, it was payback for hitting him with his hammer on the helicarrier.
9:18 'War isnt won by old men in suits' and then it cuts to Cap...very nice timing :D
Just realize at 52:45 you can see the actor Enver Gjokaj playing a cop. He also play Agent Daniel Sousa in Marvel : Agent Carter
Before thism Joss Whedon did do "Serenity" the movie sequel to "Firefly". Not sure if you've seen them but if you haven't HIGHLY recommend them!
You can also find him in the MeToo saga.
The thing to remember about Tony is that he is *always* upgrading, redesigning, redeveloping, and refining his designs.
If you want more Agent Coulson, watch Agents of Shield. It's a fantastic TV show.
I am so glad someone mentioned Agents of SHIELD :).
Correction, the first 4 seasons are. After that it because terrible
great reaction. Just get ready for more crying and paper tissues after phase 1. Once you get to the phase 3 movies oh boy...... You really get invested in these characters. I hope you guys get to catch up to Phase 5 :) and do not forget the TV shows on disney plus from phase 4 and forward.
Nick: I know that guy from somewhere.
Me: Walking the mile, Walking the mile
This is going to be an emotional journey for her
The guy who played the janitor that found Banner is harry Dean Stanton.
Most famous for playing Brett in Alien
I remember him from Escape From New York.
"Right."
He was the vulgar custodian in The Green Mile who helped the guards do their practice runs of the electric chair executions.
One of the GREATEST reactions because of wen’s emotional response (sorry if i spelled that incorrectly just a dumb American that loves marvel)
And nicks support for her, as her sees her reaction to the characters he’s introduced her to.
U need to watch agent of shield tv series
Yeah, they need to watch it :).
T.A.H.I.T.I.
It's a magical show.
44:32
The late great Harry Dean Stanton.......(Brett) from Alien.
"Are you an alien?" LOL
Also Brain from Escape From NY.
And many more.
Oh my sweet summer child- if you cried in this one...just wait. Sigh
Joss Whedon also wrote the series "Firefly" and its related movie "Serenity" . You really need to watch that series if you haven't.
The woman who thanked Captain America on TV was supposed to be a love interest for Cap. This was where they wanted to set her up as a character but in the end they didn't keep her in the coming movies
Ashley Johnson is awesome.
57:54 Big unexplained moment here: there was a deleted scene (which you can find on UA-cam) where she served Steve at a cafe and she talked to him about Stark Tower and Iron Man. Now she’s recognizing the handsome blonde man who ordered coffee from her as Captain America.
Wedon wrote and directed Serenity before this film.
Hulk randomly punching Thor, I always felt was the Hulk getting back at Thor for the earlier fight between the two of them. In a "fun" way :P
Best reaction to MCU I've seen, her reactions are so genuine and insightful
Joss Whedon's first movie was Toy Story. He wrote the screenplay.
Now watch Marvels Agents of Shield
The sequences with Hulk destroying Loki, and Tony reflecting the beam off Cap's shield were actually part of the Marvel vs. Capcom arcade games. I remember playing them and using those exact moves. It was awesome watching this in the theater and seeing it happen live.
Aahhh I was so excited to watch y'all react to this! I can't wait for you guys to continue to go through the MCU movies. Endgame is my comfort movie, it will change you lmao
Grew up watching it and love it
This came out in a rough time of my life (just lost my best friend from high school) and it cheered me up immensely seeing one of my favorite comic book teams together on the big screen and the audience loving it. Future Avenger movies might be seen as more epic but this first movie always has a special place in my heart (and Hulk smashing Loki will never not make me chuckle).
2012 is one of my favorite years of superhero movies. Amazing Spider-Man, Dark Knight Returns, and especially The Avengers. Oh good times.
Glad to know I’m not the only one who enjoys all three of those films.
So true. I watched all three in theater. What a time for an old comic veteran, who's reading Marvel, DC & everything available since the 1960s. Greetings from Germany.
It's Dark Knight Rises, not Returns
LOVED this reaction, you guys are amazing, such chill and welcoming vibes! Also, I want to hug Quỳnh, I get it, I cry at movies easily too, this is the safest of spaces haha
Joss did do a Firefly movie, Serenity, before this movie.
Loving your Marvel reactions soooo much! The Avengers never gets old! As much as Tony Stark and Iron Man really kicked off the whole MCU, this movie was the first successful at bringing everybody together in a movie like this and it was amazing
Your reactions were amazing and you had me 😭 half the movie! ❤❤❤❤
It was also the first movie from the MCU I ever saw. The trailers for the other movies didn't creat enough interrest inside me to watch them.
Hey guys, Agent Coulson gets revive as the story line for the amazing series "Agents of Shield" that is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and it's actually between movies, it follows the story line and it makes references of the movies and vice-versa. It has cool cameos. 👍
