I watched almost all the MCU movies on opening night (many of them I watched multiple times in theaters) but most of Phase 4 has me rather disillusioned. Just not impressed so far even skipped one entirely for the first time (Eternals) but still holding a bit of hope for Dr. Strange 2.
Watching Doctor Strange in 2016 in 3D IMAX was the best experience I've ever had in my life. The sequel doesn't even come close to it. I'm sorry to anyone that couldn't experience it. I hope one day they release it again.
I've been spending a lot of time in Nepal recently and one of the locals has warned me not to buy or consume "wild honey", because in a lot of places here some of the plants that the bees collect nectar from, are poisonous, or hallucinogenic, and the process of turning that nectar into honey intensifies these effects. Because the honey is collected randomly in the wild there's no way to know if it will have no effect, give you a mild high, or a more extreme trip, and maybe even an overdose. I bring this up because of the scene near beginning when he says, "What's in that tea," and names off some powerful drugs, then she says, "it's just tea... with a little honey." This part is just a bit different given the potential qualities of Nepali honey. I don't think it's intentional, just an ironic coincidence.

He pushed her away to make sure to she doesn't see him as failure and disappointment. Believe me i was at hit rock bottom once and i pushed my ex away broke up with her. Tony Stark/Iron Man and Dr. Strange have very similar backgrounds. Both stuck up rich guys who have life altering accidents and realize they can do more with their lives than what they had.
I am surprised very little people picked up on the conversation Strange had just before his car accident. The guy on the phone was telling him a "35 year old Air Force Colonel that crushed his lower spine in some kind of experimental armor." That just happens to be Rhodey just after the Civil War fight in Germany.
@@matthewdhewlett Well they lied to cover the asses of the writers. That movie came out SIX years before this one. Plus that guy was clearly killed. When your top half is turn 180 degrees from your bottom half, you WILL die. You won't suffer a CRUSHED spine. He even said AIR FORCE COLONEL. Who else is a known Air Force Colonel in the MCU?
@@matthewdhewlett now cuz in End Game, when the group goes back to the Battle of New York City for the stones, Hulk meets the Ancient One and she says they are about 6-8 years too early (can't remember the exact years, either 6 or 8). Spiderman Homecoming takes place after that battle (supposedly) 8 years later, and also directly after Civil War, which means the time table suggests Strange began his magical journey at around the time that IM and CA were battling in the Civil War. It's definitely not someone from IM 2, that was way too early, and the description would fit what they would put under the circumstances for Rhodey, and Strange is exactly the guy to talk to for his situation.
4:50 I know many people are gonna comment this but that line is not a reference to Rhodey. The director, Scott Derrickson, confirmed that the injured air force colonel is not Rhodey. Also, Strange had his accident on Groundhog Day, while Rhodey had his accident four months later in June
This happens in parrallel with Iron Man 2. Congressional hearing, Stark commandeers the video displays to show clips of other groups/nations attempting to replicate Stark's armor. HammerTech is included, and that suit's top half twists halfway around violently. Hammer states "The pilot lived." But does not elaborate. The HammerTech injury is the one referenced in this sequence.
I think it was a reference to the guy experimenting on armours in the Hammer Industry, the footage in Iron Man 2. Because the time would be closer to 2017 or late 2016. Since in Endgame, when Smart Hulk went to the New York sanctum in 2012 and the Ancient One says "You're about 5 years too early." Meaning Strange still did not have his accident.
To be very honest , he is the real hero that made in fall in love with MCU more than anything/ever. No one could have played Dr strange better than Benedict cumberbatch ,in my opinion . I was so hyped to see the second movie of it as soon as (possible) Dr strange 1 was out in theaters . Loved your reaction. ❤️Hope he's your one of the favorite MCU heroes. 😍
Listening to this, this is the first time I noticed that one of the potential clients offered to Strange just before his accident was Roady's spine injury from Civil War.
Honestly I used to hate this film not for anything other than I thought it was one of the most uninteresting films from the MCU but I rewatched it before Dr Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and I appreciate it so much. Even more so, I’ve now related to Strange more than anyone in the MCU besides Loki. Top notch movie 👌🏽
Great reaction! But you should have kept that scene which changed not only the movie but also the whole MCU, Ancient one telling Strange "Its not about you". It's such a simple line but it literally changed his life ,that was the turning point.
Fun detail: Jonathan Pangborn (the guy who tells Stephen about Kamar-Taj) is an actual Marvel comics character. *Edit:* Also, it's a blink-and-you'll-miss-it but the reason Stephen learns things so fast is he's got a perfect memory, he mentions it at one point.
I'm loving your reactions to the MCU. You are in for such a treat in the next few movies, as well as some heartbreak and more. The payoff is worth it on so many levels. Excelsior!
This is a really great adaptation of the source material. In the comic books, Dr Strange is one of the most powerful beings on Earth. If he wanted to solve every problem with violence, he could, but instead he goes very far out of his way to solve problems without violence. That's what makes his stories interesting. And although Stephen gave up crass materialism, his past still affects him. In the comic books, he and Tony Stark get into arguments about exotic sports cars. The moral of the origin story is kind of weird: you can change a selfish jerk into a good person by saddling them with soul-crushing amounts of responsibility. That stairwell with the crazy round window is one of the most iconic places in the Marvel universe. It really lends itself to amazing visuals. I knew movie people would be unable to resist it because artists can't.
When Strange is driving his car and the guy on the phone says he has a colonel with a crushed spine sustained from experimental armor, he's referring to the colonel that we see in the video clip Tony Stark was watching in the court room with Justin Hammer...Iron Man II
Love your reactions! Your comments are always enjoyable! I love all animals but especially cats. Love seeing your kitty. This was one of my favorite Marvel movies. I think Benedict Cumberbatch has an incredible actor. Thank you
Best joke in this movie - "people used to think I was funny". Wong's response "DID THEY WORK FOR YOU ?" Wong does not laugh until the final act when Strange cracks a joke, and Wong laughs along hysterically. Why ? Because now Wong works for him !

I watched almost all the MCU movies on opening night (many of them I watched multiple times in theaters) but most of Phase 4 has me rather disillusioned. Just not impressed so far even skipped one entirely for the first time (Eternals) but still holding a bit of hope for Dr. Strange 2.
Jesse Cortez Are you talking just about the Phase 4 movies, or Phase 4 as a whole with the D+ shows?
@@jessecortez9449 Same here Jesse... I'll wait for video, even though the first Dr. Strange was one of my favs.
You were early to the party. Sadly, there is nothing left now and all opportunities are being wasted one by one
04:51 Easter egg, a refrence to Ironman 2
"Dor mam who?... I've come to bargain"
Omg that intro card was hilarious
Fun fact Benedict Cumberbatch did the voice of the voice of dormammu
06:15 i can relate to strange in that scene. He vented his frustration and disappointment by being a jerk also strange's pride ego was at his peak. He pushed her away to make sure to she doesn't see him as failure and disappointment. Believe me i was at hit rock bottom once and i pushed my ex away broke up with her. After a few years things started to make sense i called her, apologiesed for being A hole
Tony Stark/Iron Man and Dr. Strange have very similar backgrounds. Both stuck up rich guys who have life altering accidents and realize they can do more with their lives than what they had.
The cape is one of my favorite secondary characters.
"Who are you in this vast Muiltiverse, Mr Strange?"
Love this line in the Movie, so much more meaning now.
Video: “I wonder how he’s going to fit in the marvel universe?”
Everyone: you’ll see 😁

I am surprised very little people picked up on the conversation Strange had just before his car accident. The guy on the phone was telling him a "35 year old Air Force Colonel that crushed his lower spine in some kind of experimental armor." That just happens to be Rhodey just after the Civil War fight in Germany.
I thought it had been confirmed that they were talking about one of Hammer's buddies in IM2.
It's definitely not someone from IM 2, that was way too early, and the description would fit what they would put under the circumstances for Rhodey, and Strange is exactly the guy to talk to for his situation.
literally the best dialogue in the entire MCU. "mister doctor?"
Great job on your reaction! Also your cat is really cute!
8:42 you are now witnessing the greatest vfx work of the MCU ever
To be very honest , he is the real hero that made in fall in love with MCU more than anything/ever. No one could have played Dr strange better than Benedict cumberbatch ,in my opinion . I was so hyped to see the second movie of it as soon as (possible) Dr strange 1 was out in theaters .
Loved your reaction. ❤️Hope he's your one of the favorite MCU heroes. 😍
this was a trippy movie for sure. I didn't read alot of comics growing up but remember reading many Doctor Strange adventures. Was a great reaction.
Tilda Swinton. Perfectly cast!!
lol that intro with the dad jokes
Chiwetel is basically portraying Mordo like the Operative from Serenity, right from his martials arts stances to the sword slung on his back.
7:05 "If you're nothing without the watch, then you shouldn't have it."
When the final boss keeps killing you, but you have infinite extra lives, and he finally gets tired of it.
Strange made Dormammu _rage quit._
Listening to this, this is the first time I noticed that one of the potential clients offered to Strange just before his accident was Roady's spine injury from Civil War.
"Did they have wind chimes in the medieval ages?" omg, lol
Dr. Strange is one of the best MCU movies! Great reaction :D
How tf do you relate to loki lol
22:10 -- Stan Lee, laughing at a physics book, meaning he can exist outside of space and time. Classic Stan.
"I wonder how he is going to fit into the MCU" oh boy
Great reaction! But you should have kept that scene which changed not only the movie but also the whole MCU, Ancient one telling Strange "Its not about you". It's such a simple line but it literally changed his life ,that was the turning point.
She dont know about the importance of that line so she did not reacted to it like we do watching the movie again with all our knowledge.
@@5calambres yeah I get that, she'll definitely know it's importance on rewatching
@@apoorvsingh4459 and we cant wait to see that ;)
Have a good one mate.
That joke at the beginning was Grade A humor! Well done!
You watched Serenity 5 months ago, Chiwetel Ejiofor (Mordo) plays an excellent villain
I'm loving your reactions to the MCU. You are in for such a treat in the next few movies, as well as some heartbreak and more. The payoff is worth it on so many levels. Excelsior!
1:16 CALLED IT!!!
Thank you
That knock-knock joke at the beginning was top-shelf. Brava.
Mordo: "Never compromise, even in the face of Armageddon."
😊
Excellent timing! This helps me catch up before tomorrow's Doctor Strange premiere 😁
Best joke in this movie - "people used to think I was funny". Wong's response "DID THEY WORK FOR YOU ?"
Wong does not laugh until the final act when Strange cracks a joke, and Wong laughs along hysterically. Why ?
Because now Wong works for him !
4:49 Dr, no. You're driving. Don't get distracted.
5:20 See? This is what happens.
Steven Strange: "People used to think I was funny."
Wong: "Did they work for you?"
Steven becomes Sorcerer Supreme so Wong starts working for him.
Wong: *laughs* "That's funny."
