I just wish you would have had it in the shop a month or so when I ordered the old compound. But maybe some other time. I still have to evaluate the white compound, might need to make a new strop with rough side out as well, my current have smooth leader out. 🙂

You really ought to be comparing it side by side with the gunny juice and other competitors on higher end blades like the elmax, rex, etc. Jewellers rouge will get you a good mirror polish on most steels, or iron oxide...
Seriously, i'm not trying to be funny but why spend 40 bloody euro on this when iron oxide is far far cheaper by weight and just as good. To be a little blunt and mildly comical about iy, one micron diamond, don't impress me much. Diamonds may be a little bit faster or a lot faster but by how much? where is the actual data on that comparison?

I used to sharpen my knives on a series of waterstones and then strop them off with a fine compound on leather. That's great for a knife that you would use for fine slicing. Here's a challenge for you... do this very same thing you just did in this video with that scandi grind knife, and then baton through some hardwood (like oak or similar). Guarantee that blade will chip. There is a line (not a fine line... just a line). We have to choose our edge... full scandi sharpened to slicing performance, then convex that scandi with with a secondary robust convex edge. That's the true Bushcraft knife. My kitchen knives are either a full flat grind and edge, or a full scandi sharpened to perfect slicing edge. My Bushcraft knives always...ALWAYS have a convexed edge, no matter the grind. Talk about it!

Having declared my dissatisfaction with this sharpener last night ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxDcr-y2Pf6xdnrFHrSP7dl9kpKaCozcSQ I thought about the problem some more. It occurred to me that I might be undoing each attempt at achieving a sharp edge by the repeated attempts. So, I tried to clean up the unsatisfactory result by honing with only positions 3 and 4.Miracle!! A really nicely sharpened chef's knife, more than enough to handle my needs. Admittedly, it did not reach professionally sharpened razor-fineness, but it is now significantly sharper than it was. A bout of breaking down carrots convinced me. So, major apologies to the manufacturer, Amazon, and all happy and potential owners! Follow the directions: don't buy it if you have ceramic blades; and don't overwork your knife blade.

The product I have used the most!
Incredible speed (even made the 400 naniwa pro leftover scratches on the 3k finish shine).
On sued leather I get fine scratches that are only visible in HARSH sun light (good in sunny, but not too bright), but I personally am too OCD about my mirror finishes, so I use stroppystuff's synthetic foam for polishing.

Took delivery of my strop, compound and stroppy stuff this morning and after 6-7 hrs playing with knives wasnt that impressed.
!!!!! Have had to come back and edit my comments because they weren't accurate, due to operator error (mine!)
After several days of use I finally realised that the contents of both bottles had settled and stuck to the side of the bottles instead of going on the strop. Warning!!! Shake the bottles hard for a couple of minutes before applying to your strop. The result then is that they do work fine.

If you use it wet the leather will burnish and you'll wipe the diamond off. Better to use dry if you're trying to conserve compound. It's fine to use wet when polishing but you'll end up using more.

Dear guys, I might suggest checking the owner's manual on your sharpness tester, perhaps the reading is 0.150 g not 150. 150 g is a third of a pound (I know I'm here in the US), and I very much doubt if that little thread is supporting a third of a pound, question? Maybe the scale is reading in thousandths? I may be wrong, will you let me know?

Would you say that the new compound is better than those from The Knife House, which you did offer previously?
Just asking, because those had 1 micron and 0.25 microns, which is finer and would obviously result in a better cutting apex.
Still using this with my DBK strop. Nobody i know gets better results in stropping than i do! That strop is perfection.

I also always finish on 0.25 micron dbk compound. I have already ordered it from different brand, because it is the finest one (I also strop the razors on it). This 4 micron (plus 2 times the amount of diamonds) compound should be veeery quick! Not that fine, but quick one.

3:41 - No thats not how you "calculate" it, and its pretty bad testing methodology too. How fast you cut that wire impacts its results like crazy, and that was a very fast cut compared to the before-test. Not saying you do it on purpose, but it is a bit questionable that every time you want to show something as "better", you always go fast. Kinda makes me wonder if the wire was tensioned equally for both tests and such too. Awesome stropping compound though!

Well you can use cheap grits to get yourself to around a thousand then you want to start using better stuff like a chosera 3000 stone and followed by a few strops atleast 2 to get to around 10 to 15k grit...more than that is kind of silly and Goes away after you cut a few pieces of paper..but with diamond paste u can get to almost endless polish sharpness..

I wonder what kind of diamond spray the barbershops in the former wild west used to spray on their leather stropping belts about 150 years ago 😂😂😂

Back in the day sometimes they used really fine sand. You can shave with a 400 grit finish. Not sure about how nice it feels though hahah
