    Very good job!!! I am building the Revell version of the Galactica. The paint job and integrating some electronics will be the very tricky part!

      It's a fun little kit. I have another video up now showing the complete build if you want to check it out. Ironically I just started making a build video today on the viper mk 2 in 1/32 👍 Another fun kit.

    I am building the Revell version of the Galactica. They used the same Moebius molds but added better decals.

      For a quick paint job you can just use rustolium spray, either a chrome or silver then just brush small details. Prime the whole thing in black then use the chrome. Check out this video from Adam savage at 1:05:19

    Had this video show up in my suggestions, after looking at Colonial One videos. It's just a bloody fun kit, and the second model I built (first being Revell's Saturn V) after getting into the hobby around a year ago. After that, built one for a buddy as a Christmas gift who is a big BSG TRS fan. I've since repainted the first build...may have to build another, as well as light it, after I've done the Colonial One.

    I picked up Revell's version of the Galactica, is there much difference between the 2 kits

    • @andrewsartscalemodels
      @andrewsartscalemodels  7 років тому

      I haven't had a good look at the revel one. I should mostly be a reproduction of the Moebius kit. The only real difference may be with the decals. If it follows the Revell Viper mk2 vs the Moebius one the Revell decals should be better with better register. The Moebius ones were a bit average.

      Andrews Art & Scale models how big is this compared to the Pegasus one they made?

    • @andrewsartscalemodels
      @andrewsartscalemodels  7 років тому

      Hmm good question. I don't actually have the Pegasus one but I would imagine if they are the same scale the Pegasus should be a fair bit bigger. You should be able to hunt down the dimensions via google.

  • @lurkerrekrul
    @lurkerrekrul 2 роки тому +2

    It would have been really nice if they had made it so that you could push the landing bays into the stowed position. They should have at least given you optional parts to build the model that way.

    • @OfARisenFall
      @OfARisenFall 2 роки тому

      I thought you could? Amazon's page says it has 'movable hangar bays'

    • @lurkerrekrul
      @lurkerrekrul 2 роки тому

      @@OfARisenFall I see that, but the third customer review states that they tried to build the kit with the bays retracted and couldn't figure out a good way to do it. They also say that the bays don't even fit into the cavities in the sides of the ship.

    • @channelwacke
      @channelwacke 2 роки тому

      It's not surprising, actually. Doug Drexler has confirmed that the pods on the hero digital model can't retract without the struts passing through each other! They didn't worry about it on the show, as viewers would never know and they just assumed there was some complex internal folding/telescoping mechanism that you can't see from the outside.
      Still, it makes the physical model rather hard to deal with. It takes a lot of cutting and filling to make a retracted pod version work.

    • @lurkerrekrul
      @lurkerrekrul 2 роки тому

      @@channelwacke BSG is better in this regard than other shows/movies, but I've noticed that with CGI, they often don't pay much attention to reality. Like when a CGI gun magically grows a three-foot barrel, mini-rockets pop out on each side and an ammo belt drops down. I hate that sort of stuff. All the recent Marvel movies have been doing it and using the code word "nanotech" as if that explains stuff just appearing out of thin air. Newsflash: The material for all that stuff has to be stored somewhere, it can't just magically appear.
      In any case, with a little forethought, they could have made the bays fit into the model and included retracted versions of the struts.
      I haven't bought any kits in years, but I do have the Moebius Robby the Robot kit from quite a few years ago. Despite the base of Robby's head being a perfect circle, they didn't even bother to provide a way for it to swivel. In fact, it's like they went out of their way to make it difficult to modify. Same thing with the arms, which would have been so easy for them to add a ball joint where the arms attach, and a swivel in the wrist.
      I guess I'm used to old-school model kits where they would have working landing gear, opening canopy, alternate parts for building different versions, etc. I remember my grandfather building a Corsair model with working landing gear, working canopy and folding wings.

    • @channelwacke
      @channelwacke 2 роки тому

      @@lurkerrekrul I work in CGI, and I totally understand how production deadlines mean that you cut corners on stuff that doesn't really matter. But when you go to make a physical model, you make those adjustments. Ship an extra sprue with retracted pod parts. Make pieces movable. It's more work, but It's a lot better for the consumer than having to painstakingly modify a kit.
      Magic CG multi-guns, though? Yeah, totally with you on that. Tony Stark's "nanotech" Iron Man chest storage compartment should have weighed about 800 pounds.
      Closely related pet peeve: monsters that quickly grow to huge size without eating hundreds of pounds of mass first. :P

      @@andrewsartscalemodels It is a no-nonsense review yet with a light mood. Well filmed and inspirational. I have been dabbling with 3 of these off and on for a while, including one with pods retracted (so seldom seen) needing a bit a surgery to the kit. Also one with the Acreation Decals (time and patience required!) Cheers again!
