======== En Livstid I Krig LYRICS =======
Men vem saknar mig?
Så se mig som den
En make, en vän
Fader och son som aldrig kommer hem
Men vem sörjer mig?
Gick ut i strid för Sverige, blev döpt i blod
Där ute väntar döden, inte hjältemod
I fält där fränder faller, hörs ingen sång
Utmanar våra öden, ännu en gång
Långt hemifrån
Döpas och dö i strid
Och världen brann
För kriget det kan
Förgöra en man
Jag ger mitt liv för mitt fosterland
Men vem saknar mig?
Så se mig som den
En make, en vän
Fader och son som aldrig kommer hem
Men vem sörjer mig?
Och när min tid har runnit ut
Vem bryr sig då?
De kämpar på
Får en soldat ett värdig slut?
Få somna in
Försvinna bort
Och aldrig vakna
För kriget det kan
Förgöra en man
Jag ger mitt liv för mitt fosterland
Men vem saknar mig?
Så se mig som den
En make, en vän
Fader och son som aldrig kommer hem
Men vem sörjer mig?

This is quite possibly one of their most powerful songs, especially in Sweden. As a former soldier myself, plus with several cousins & a few long time friends in the military, this song hits home hard for me & it's damn near impossible to not tear up (honestly, Sabaton has that effect on me). Even today, there are men & women in the military that have grown up hearing about & seeing war all their lives, although the difference is that it isn't at their doorstep like it was 400 years ago in Europe.
It's no surprise that their Carolus Rex album went double platinum, as it is one of their best albums. To think that the Swedish version of the album was basically a bonus, yet it was the main reason most people bought it. The last time I saw Sabaton live in Houston, even that crowd of Texans wanted to hear some of their songs in Swedish (they ended up singing Got Min Uns in Swedish). Every time I have seen Sabaton live, I have never left disappointed.
Tack ♥

I know this song by heart and could sing it - and I don't even speak Swedish.
I'm getting to that point
Wow you aren’t Swedish and you can sing it I’m impressed good job.
@@melkor3496 I think the only thing harder is trying to learn the full song of "Angel Of Salvation" or "Force Of Courage" from Galneryus by heart without knowing Japanese
@@TheNightOwl11683 I don’t know those I’ll check em out.
@@melkor3496 Hope you have half an hour to spare
A lot of soldiers brought their families with them. They made up the rear of the army. So you could be born close to the battlefield, grow up in the rear until you were old enough to join the army. And you might be buried in a mass grave and have the blessings read by the same priest that baptized you. That's a life time of war.
Make sure to see the Swedish version of Sabaton History.
What a horrific story. To think you could bring up your own son to only suffer the same fate as you. Omg I can't even imagine.
yes the final solution it is a horrid thing buth needs to be told and never forgotten
"Price of a mile" is another sobering and deep song from Sabaton
The band was playing in Sweden to live Swedish audience it’s only natural they would sing one of their greatest anthem like songs they have on their Carol is Rex album; this is one very powerful song especially to the Swedish people and, even the German people will sing along to it.
However some interesting news atthe Sabaton UA-cam channel; they have announced that in a couple of days, they will be entering the recording studio and they will be recording the latest and newest album so we all have something to look forward to in 2021. Personally I can’t wait
My favourite part might be the ending, the crowd starts singing Swedish Pagans, a joke in the Sabaton community. Joakim doesn’t like singing it but the audience tries to make him do it 😂
A powerful song as you said. React to The Final Solution lyric video.
I second that
no no no no, there lyrics are very clear. React to the music video made by Schindlers list

ITS the strangest battle of ww2
Yeah, who would have thought that the Spartans would face off against the 1st Crusade😮😮
Yeeesss! Finally! I've seen Sabaton I don't know how many times but I was there, in this crowd, for this show and it is the best performance I've ever seen them do. It was almost deafening to hear everyone sing along, throughout the whole song, just incredible! Great reaction, keep it up!
Agreed, my entire row sang as we cried
Here's my translation that also goes well with the melody. Let me know what you think.
I turn around to see my homestead fade away
I wish I could have stayed there, just another day
Not yet a man, though called to arms to do my part
Will I see my home again, I wish with all my heart
With kinsmen from my village I went out to war
In a world of flames
‘Cause war surely can, devastate a man
I give my life, for my motherland
But who’s missing me?
So see me as them
the husband and friend
the father and son, who’s never seen again
But who mourns over me?
Went out to war for Sweden, baptized in blood
No gallantry awaits us, dying in the mud
In fields where friends has fallen, there’ll be no songs
Our fate once more we challenge, and marching on
Far away from home
(To be baptized and die in war)
In a world of flames
‘Cause war surely can, devastate a man
I give my life, for my motherland
But who’s missing me?
So see me as them
the husband and friend
the father and son, who’s never seen again
But who mourns over me?
And when my time is finally here
Who’ll sing my song?
They’re fighting on
I hope to die without much fear
I fall asleep, and fade away
And never wake up
‘Cause war surely can, devastate a man
I give my life, for my motherland
But who’s missing me?
So see me as them
the husband and friend
the father and son, who’s never seen again
But who mourns over me?
The first time I ever saw Sabaton live, I was lucky enough to get meet and greet tickets. I asked Chris Rorland how old Tommy was. Chris said why? Does he look young? How old do you think he is? I replied 17? He laughed so hard and said he hears that a lot and that Tommy indeed has a baby face! Hahaha!
That deep emotional connection is really the core of Sabaton. They can make you cry, push your self harder, inspire and depress.
yea finally got to this one love ya gays
One of the most gut-wrenching songs ever done by Sabaton. It maybe about a 30 year war but as usual they bring the human touch that impacts any war. As a veteran this brought me to tears remembering buddies who died during firefights in Nam, those that never made it home and having to visit their loves just so they could know how they died!! The cost for those who fight is well known but those at home pay a toll and even those innocents caught in the middle of such conflicts pay an even higher toll. How many families did we destroy on both sides of those conflicts. Sabaton never ceases to amaze me how they distill the human experience of those historical events and bring to life the dead history you will never get by reading a book. Sad to think of all the experiences since this 30 year war and those today who are going through the same experiences I did as teen dragging my a$$ from rice paddy to jungle and back again. Plato is right only the dead known the end of war. Great reaction as always guys. Hannes just gut punches here like his wife, Floor does with De Beelden Blijven (A Song for War Child) (ua-cam.com/video/e6-6NVsbg6U/v-deo.html), honestly 2 of the most gut wrenching songs any one touched by war will ever experience.
🇸🇪good reaction........Come to Gutenburg.....and "enjoy" them live.....this is not the first time the audience sing in the "homeland"....Sverige......Sabaton knew.....🇸🇪
I see you trying not to cry. Wiping away the tears while trying to conceal it. It's ok though, this song is an important reminder of the pain, strife, and struggle of those who endured wars without any assurances of seeing the end of the war, let alone coming home. And those that come home still have to put lives back together, whether theirs or someone else's. It is a ballad that, while having the 30 years war in mind, is dedicated to the memory of all those lost and can extend to who may yet be lost. If that pulls at the heartstrings, weep for the losses and pain that your fellow man has endured for the sake of ideas, security, a better world, their fellow man, and more. Weep and learn to respect those who have fallen and continue their legacies to make a better world.
Sadly, it took me almost 24 years to learn that there is no shame in tears wept well, only in tears wept in vain.
I've uploaded a version with proper English subtitles embedded into the video, because the subtitles in the official one are terrible. You can find it here:
ua-cam.com/video/fTFtUtfTa_I/v-deo.html
Here is a version that also includes a brief intro with a historic backstory to the song:

If you want more ballad type songs from Sabaton I would highly recommend "Price of a Mile" (Talks about the high cost/waste of life in WW1) or "The Final Solution" (Talks about the Holocaust)
Also "Long Live the King" (the death and funeral March of King Charles
Great reaction! Time to learn Swedish? This is the only music that me and my son has in common. I have seen them a couple of times and on my wish list for post-pandemic activities is live conserts with Sabaton and Babymetal. 😊 Keep up the great work. ❤🦊🤘 Stay safe and kitsunes up!
i got tickets to the gig in jan 2022 :) in Orebro :) :) :) i will rock the head of me!!! :D
And the thing that makes it when more sad is that allot of them was under 18. The minimal age for the military was 13!
Oh, if you had the chance to sign up you were lucky. You HAD TO :/
I think you mean bunker..but can be wrong..)
since you've asked for opinions about the new setup:
The Christmas theme is a lovely and creative a really nice aesthetic
but there is maybe a little bit to much snow falling down
I think if there would be 20% less of the snowflakes it could be lesser distraction
Also if the video wasn't mirrored
There are examples of families having all males except those under 15 and those above 40 getting "signed into" the army. The survival rate was at times 3 years in army. This one example i'm thinking of is. A women having her husband, her brothers, her husbands brother all signed into the army leaving her with 2 children on her hip and the grandparents. 15 years later those two children she had was also signed into the army, all of them died except for her brother who came back with one leg and one eye.....
It got so bad in the nobility class that the church of Sweden who were dogmatic lutherans, stopped punishing "hor" for noblewomen (unmarried sex) for years after the war. And there are unofficial examples of women sharing one man.
You have gone leaps and bounds for watching actual history and I do respect that.
In relation to the population there were more deaths in the 30 Years War than in the Second World War! Whole stretches of land were depopulated and arable land was uncultivated for years. Famine continued to be part of people's lives for a long time.
I love the Swedish word for motherland (fosterland), directly translated to fetal land. 🤣
Well, directly translated may not be correct. “To foster’, isn’t that an English verb? Then it translates to “land of my upbringing”
I hope you react to this ones Sabaton history since it’s the Swedish Version.
Thank you for reaction to this song! As a Swede I just love the song. All the lyrics and the memory of our history. Looking forward to your next reaction. Happy new year from Sweden!
Seen them a couple of times, they're worth the ticket price for sure.
it might be nitpicking but the way they pronounce Joakim kind of rubs me the wrong way. He is not French. :P

Loved the reaction! Just a pointer though. Joakim i pronounced "ioacim" (Ιωακειμ) not "whah-kieem" or whatever :D
You can hear himself say i here ua-cam.com/video/vc8svpfo5do/v-deo.html
This is a song that cut really deep. Especially for a vet like me whos done two tours in Afghanistan with the Swedish armed forces or anyone who served really.
This song is about the 30 year war in Europe. If you think about it, let's say you left a 15 year old boy and against all odds you survived the war, you returned home at the age of 45. Hence it is called a life time of war.
Lots of love for this reaction from a swedish soldier
It's also because "who misses me", can be translated into "what are we fighting for", i believe most wars the soldiers think that, like what am i even doing here?.
Great reaction, but why is the video mirrored? Anyway, epic song by Sabaton!
The 30 yearwar took place in the 1700. It is probebly the worst war ever. The death toll was between 4 -8 million people. Most of them didn´t die from actual warfare but from starvation or desieses. Check Sabaton´s history channel. The war ended for Sweden´s part whe king Karl XII died at Poltava
it is in the hockey arean in Gothenburg called Scandinavium and it gives you goosebumps to her almost 11000 people singing
This song connects the hole Swedish people. Not just the crowd!
This is our history this is where we are forged from the 800th viking era to the 1600-1700th to day. We have it in our genes.
We are in a deep sleep. But some of us hade that war drum beating since we were born
Amazing reaction ♥️
Crowd is insane.
Greatings from Gothenburg, Sweden ♥️👍
Love the reaction of Sabaton video can't wait for more. Gonna check you other videos to ofc. Much Love from Sweden. Love and Respect.
Fun fact, during the swedish empire every village supplied one soldier. One person from every village was chosen as the representative warrior instead of drafting. The village supplied a home , food, clothes ,weapons ,and other provisions. When the call came these hardened and very well trained warriors defeated vastly superior forces.
This might be my very 1st time seeing a reaction from this channel
Looks like I chose the right 1 because you nailed it
Vai guys, and lots of spring spirit there from Finland.
This is so good song. As English version this song loses something a little bit. So it's better to show this version that has subtitles.
They have history video about the swedish version check it out if are interested ^-^ the story is different
This was exactly one year ago. Last concert before things shut down for me. People where still singing this song going from the concert. Amazing experience.

I were there with my friends from work, and we love Sabaton. The entire crowd sang along it was pure magic.
There is Sabaton, and there is magic. There is Sabaton magic.

This guy took it hard bro. 😢 Awesome reaction
Listen to Sabaton Christmas truce think you Will like that
Great reaction, nice to watch an intelligent female reacting.
If possible, kindly do one of Mick Gordon's soundtrack titled The Partisan Feat. Tex Perkins from the game series titled Wolfenstein The Old Blood. That song takes you on an emotional journey.
Also in case you guys decide to do a reaction video then kindly read about the game's description first so that you get the idea what the song really is about.
Regards from India.
Easily one of the most epic performances ever.
React to Sabaton White death.
I was there. Gonna see them again in February.
how did they manages to get the video the wrong way?
Great reaction. Love from Sweden.
Their are one with english subtitles.
Have you been to the frontline
Back then in Sweden you didn't sign up, you could but most weren't. The Master of the cottage/farm you worked/lived at had and obligation too deliver one or more soldiers for the army ranging on the size of the cottage/farm. Or something like that. It was later replaced by the Conscription that is still used to day in Sweden.
In Sweden you don’t sign up gor the military service, in the past that was mandatory to do for Swedish men. The government took that away appr 10-15 years ago, but it comming backa again now (far from everyone are called in for military service thou). So at that time you just was called by the king to fight for your fatherland and king!
Do you guys think this song is about one of the Great Wars? Its about the Caroleans or the Time from the 30 Years long war to 1716 Poltava.
Beautiful reaction
Barracks is where one would sleep but that would be more or less a bunker or underground section of the trench network. Could be a barracks or a command bunker (most troops slept in the open and only the NCOs got the cozy bunkers unless they were German)
20% of swedens male population died during the 30 year war, the country was ruindand and all of the land that Sweden had coquerd was lost, it was a total disaster
realy niiice reaction, you should react to Majestica - above the sky and ghost of christmas past, if you haven't done that yet, the guy with the "young face" is singer in this band 🤘
Amazing song.

Being in that crowd was an epic moment for sure. I am so looking forward to the release of their new album next year!
Nice, Sabaton is a great band. Thanks for the reaction.
Please react to Final Salutation and Light in the Black.
sweden was at war for 30 years and grew so tired of it to vow ,never again.
Too bad they were reading the wrong lyrics
No, they read the right lyrics. Maybe you know the engish version but the swedish lyrics is very different to that one. And this was the swedish version.
I think these lyrics are good. When you do a translation it should not just be from one language to another, it should also be "sing-able" and not too quirky. This text ticks both those boxes. Cheers / B.
@@cglanner3806 yeah the Swedish version is different from the English version it seemed like they had the sub from English version 🤔
