It's absolutely a true story and all that they engaged in in the video was also taking place during that Christmas Truce in 1914. What You definitely missed was who was doing the opera part in the end. That was done by Floor Jansen (Nightwish) as she is married to the drummer in Sabaton, Hannes Van Dahl.
Oh dear oh dear oh dear. NEVER skip the credits on a Sabaton video. In this instance you missed the fabulous singing of Floor Jansen of Nightwish and is married to the Sabaton drummer Hannes, who was the first soldier you saw in the video. Merry Christmas both.
They’re going to ge soooo much stick for that one. Especially saying that they don’t miss anything important… I always watch this video to the end. It’s beautiful as well a great moment to reflect about this event.
Many people put forth a lot of effort in the making of this epic video and deserve to have the recognition for it. To cut it off as nothing important is a slap in their faces, especially when you said people told you to listen to the end of Sabaton videos.
What??? You cut it off? Why??? You missed the beautiful vocalization by Floor Jansen that is a part of the emotional draw of the song and the video. I'm sure that you have already been told that Floor is married to Hannes van Dahl the drummer for Sabaton as well as the blond haired actor who was stunned by the grenade and then was the first soldier to step up out of the trenches. Never cut off a Sabaton video especially when you've already said you don't know what it's about and didn't bother to research the historical facts ahead of time. Don't mean to sound mean as I normally love your reaction, but for some of us, this is important.
Never cut off a Sabaton video early... That voice at the end was no other than Floor Jansen from Nightwish, the wife of Hannes van Dahl, the drummer of Sabaton.
Yes they did sample another Christmas song in the beginning. What you hear Joakim playing on the piano is the part of the song "Carol of the Bells" but played in reverse. And NOOOOO, you cut it off from the best part. The ending credits and the angelic voice singing during them is none other than Floor Jansen of Nightwish. That last bit to me just added a final emotional touch to an already amazing video.
As others have pointed out, you missed the end credit part that had Floor Jansen's beautiful singing. You probably got into some people's naughty list for that. But it's still several days until Christmas, so you have a chance to jump back to the nice list. Christmas is a time of good will and cheer after all. You should react to Floor Jansen singing a heavier version of "O Holy Night" in Finnish "Oi Jouluyö". You can find that video here: ua-cam.com/video/6asFfKqE2vg/v-deo.html
I have studied this event extensively, as I wrote about it on two occasions in a newsletter I published. The generals on both sides, which is demonstrated by the foot stopping the ball, passed regulations that any attempt to do it again would be considered treason under punishment of death. What a brave and bold reaction from those who risk nothing and have everything to gain. What a shame, by skipping the end, you missed Floor Jansen's contribution to this epic masterpiece. Floor is married the Hannes Van Dahl, the blonde at the beginning and drummer for Sabaton. I wonder how they got her to lend her incredible voice to this story. . "We really need a voice from Heaven at the end." Hannes: "Hold my beer and hand me my phone." It's truly sad the entire world is not taught this in school, for as Sabaton told us, "we are all brothers." Enemies are created by greed. BTW: The recognizable tune at the beginning and throughout is "Carol of the Bells" played in reverse.

Great one to do this time of year. I call Sabaton the metal history band. They have a UA-cam history channel. The part played on piano was "Carol of the Bells" played in reverse. What you cut off at the end for credits was sung by Floor Jansen who is married to Hannes Van Dahl, the drummer of Sabaton.
All of Sabaton's songs are based on true happenings. Always listen to the credits of their songs too because sometimes there's information about the history in the credits.
This video and song was 2 yrs in the making . Including actual recreation of the trenches , acting lessons for the band members and the some of the lyrics coming from letters sent home by soldiers who were there and experienced this moment first hand . It is truly a work of art and history what they accomplished with this video . I know other people have mentioned it but you should have listened to Floor Jansen's amazing operatic solo in the ending credits.
Oh, they did it also ? Yeah i remember anither reactor also did that, such a shame. I mean even if you don't directly recognize thats its Floor, the vocals are still simply stunning.

Please, never skip Sabaton endings. You just said that the wonderful ending music was nothing. Rather, it was a planned denouement to fit the emotion. I usually thumb down people that skip but I will not this time as a holiday gift but will not thumb up.
Aww you cut off Floor's part. This is a true story. While it did not happen everywhere in the trenches there were parts that stopped, played soccer, exchanged stuff like coffee and cigarettes. It only happened once. Commanders put things in place to make sure it would never happen again.
You missed Floor Jansen in the credits. I am of the opinion that you should listen to every note, even the last of a song, because every single one was not written and performed exactly like that for nothing.
It took me a while to put my finger on it, but Sabaton write songs about battles and war wherever honor, valor, or integrity/decency showed up. They *don’t* take sides. That’s why they went from “Oh great, warmongers” in my mind to one of my favorite bands.
If one day you go to my country Belgium, go near Iepper, a small town in Flandres. There is a little field where you Can see the christmas Truce cross who celebrate this event. Some wanderer give football ball or flower to the mémorial.
No, I'm NOT here to criticize either of you for ending the video before the credits had ended!! After all, how could you know? This isn't a Marvel movie, and there are no extra scenes after the credits...the story had already been told. Yes, Floor's vocals are beautiful, but they are not part of the story...they are just the soundtrack for the credits and make a nice way to end things. Personally, I'm just thankful that you both took the time to watch the video and share your reactions with all of us. Merry Christmas, and God bless!!
Not everyone thinks about that the people actually doing the fighting arent the ones who ask to be fighting. That historical day they also exchanged prisoners and buried their dead. There were quite a few that had to be moved to another part of the war because they didn't want to kill their new friends. Its such a great moment in history we will probably never see again.
Yes, I think I was one that mentioned you should never stop a Sabaton video early!! Especially when Floor is singing on the credits. That said it was otherwise a good reaction. You can make amends though: 1916 official video by Sabaton is a must to watch. And: Tarja Turunen has released a new album called Dark Christmas with her take on famous Christmas songs. After hearing these you probably won't want to hear the originals again! Please watch the official videos.
Well if you want to keep the holiday theme going....try Floor Jansen (Nightwish) doing Holy Night in Finnish while 6 months pregnant. ua-cam.com/video/ym1Wc5dmUYc/v-deo.html It is epic and here her husband Hans/drummer and Sabaton remind us that great events aren't about famous people in a dusty book. They are the stories of the people who lived through those events and to whom Sabaton always pays tribute.
In this case , the video is so good because it was made by people that usually make movies. Moviemaking also shut down when the rest of the world did, so they had time for this. You are correct on the album title, The War To End All Wars. The record was released in Mar 2022, this was the first single that came out in Dec 2021. Drummer Hannes van Dahl was the first soldier out of the trenches, guitarist Chris Rorland was first out on the other side. Guitarist Tommy Johansson had the battlefield solo, and bassist Par Sundstrom was at the cross. The piano melody is a variation on Carol of the Bells. Lead singer Joakim Broden has said this song is actually a waltz.
These guys have been told million of times to NEVER ever end or skip a Sabaton video until it ends by itself. Yet they keep effing up these videos. You can only tell and help these guys that much. I give up.
This is one of my absolut favorite christmas songs. Among all other comments I would suggest you check out the solo work of the guittarist who played that amazing solo - Tommy Johansson. He makes covers (or upgrades) of all kinds of songs. He has an incredible voice. "The winner takes it all" (ABBA) or "She's gone" (Steelheart) is a good start. He also did a lot of christmas songs last year.
Sabaton is such a unique band. They combine military history with pretty hard rock. The two themes seem to have subliminal connections. In this instance, a Fugue, put to the events of Christmas 1914, when troops from both sides, laid down their arms, and spontaneously started singing carols together, and engaged in some innocent fun. The Generals didn't like it that much. Punishment of death it was repeated in future Christmases. This is absolutely true and happened up and down the line. It probably happened on a much smaller scale, in this and future wars, but this was mass spontaneity. Humanity making a last stand on the battlefield.
This might be Sabaton’s best song. No, it’s not their most powerful musically. But pay attention to the rhythm. I think it’s in 3:2… not sure… as I’m not skilled enough to recognize that. But the beats work in threes or twos. What’s so phenomenal about that is it sticks to the Carol of The Bells rhythm. So, they pull that song in at the start and end, BUT - and this is why it might be their best song ever - they stick to that rhythm for the entire song. That’s impressive. Not their most powerful song. Maybe not even the best story (damned close, but No Bullets Fly may be better). But overall. Such an impressive creation. Wildly excellent song.
Yes it's actually happened my husbands grandfather was in the trenches he never spoke about the war. Have a look at En Livstid I Krig live in concert it's amazing very moving especially when crowd sings at beginning.
Did you see that letter the last two soldiers passed the letter he was writing in the enemy Trench he passed it to a family member to give to his wife💀💀💀
Your comments were very good after the video despite not listening to the end. There are so many stories that Sabaton covers. We'd all love for peace throughout the world, but we know man is not perfect. Young men are constantly being drawn into wars not of their own choosing. I suggest you watch En Livstid I Krig (Live - The Great Tour - Gothenburg) by Sabaton. It's a song by Sabaton that is about the average soldier at war. Follow that with the song 1916, a remake of a Motorhead song that captures the pure horror of the events of WW1.
I was almost about to subscribe - and recommend you to listen to Sabaton's Motörhead cover of "1916" but I fear that you would skip their credits as well, so let's just leave it at that. It could have been such a great reaction ...
May I give you some advice? Never, NEVER skip the credits. It's so disrespectful not to appreciate all who have participated and made the whole thing possible. Give them some of your precious time and pay them respects please!
This is a Christmas tradition song for us from now on. I always loved this story from WW1. You must check out their full animated song, Night Witches. Another super cool true war story I never knew and some super brave Russian women!
Whoops. You skipped the credits. As far as we 'We are all friends'...not even 5 months before they were all trading partners with each other, and had been for quite a while...until the guns of August.
Congratulations you screwed up so badly I’m impressed you can use a computer! Those credits singing was the incomparable Floor Jansen! She is married to the drummer of Sabaton.
12:13 you cut off the video, so I thought "why would the two of you want me to watch your whole video", well I cut you off too at 12:14. How do you like that?
A música é maravilhosa, uma pena que vocês perderam uma das melhores partes que são os créditos cantados pela FLOOR JANSEN, que é esposa do baterista do SABATON, mas foi ótimo.
Just like many reactors talk for a minute or more after the song is over, many artists put stuff on their videos after the song, and just like it would be disrespectful to leave a reactors video before it is completely over, it's disrespectful to leave a musician's video before it's completely over. I was enjoying your reaction until you didn't play it all the way through. The only ways I could support leaving a video is if you honestly dislike the song so much that you can't get through it or if you have some sort of technical issues. To just stop because you consider the outro is "not important" is just wrong and disrespectful. Now, I will u pause the video and pay you the respect that too many reactors (even just one doing it is too many, but no, sadly, you're not the only ones) are not paying the artists that they are reacting to. You want to skip the outros on your own time, fine. In reactions, though, always respect the artists and your audience (who may be seeing a video for the first time; I can't tell you how many artists I've started listening to thanks to reactors) and play the video all the way to the end.
Great reaction!🤘 You might havent heard of it because USA didn't intervene until 1918. In this case there were French/British soldiers on one side and Germans on the other. The truce was unofficial. High command on both sides were furious! Happy Holidays!🎄
Another thing you might want to know The Germans and the French before the War started they were actually shooting their own families on the opposite side💀💀💀
I am a veteran with over 20 years service in the British Army. Who at present is "retired". I say it like this as I am an Educational Officer at a Military Museum, were both tourist and school kids come to learn and experience events that happened in the Great War as it was ever called World War 1. As no one knew that years later there would be another conflict. We have a working trench that represents living conditions they endured. Both with food and dress in the uniform of the day. Show the weapons used. Look bout don't touch.
This only happened once and never happened again in WW1 also it was banned in WW2. It happened from Christmas eve 1914 till Boxing day ( 26-12-1914). It's from true events that happened between British troops and German troops around 150,000 along the line. This true story is part of British and German history and as a 7 year old boy I was told about this true event in my junior school history class, it is well known in the UK and in Germany. Personally to me it's the greatest Christmas story of all time and also Sabaton made the greatest Christmas song of all time. I live in the county of Hertfordshire here in England and during WW1 my county had two Regiment's, the Hertfordshire Regiment and the Hertfordshire Yeomanry. The 2nd Battalion of the Hertfordshire Regiment was involved in the Christmas Truce and the Football came from a British Soldier in the London Irish Regiment who are still around today and are part of His Majesty's British Army. The actual Football used in the Christmas Truce is still around and is housed in the London Irish Regiment's Museum at there Barracks in London. BRITISH SABATON FAN 💂♂️💂♂️💂♂️💂♂️🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🏴🤝🤝🤝🤝🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪💙💛🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦 the singer that you stopped early as usual was the greatest Female singer on the planet Floor Jansen of Nightwish and the wife of Sabaton Drummer Hannes van Dahl. Why are Americans and Canadians so impatient to stop the video when there is so much to hear or see before the video actually ends.
That's just the impatience that Americans show again and again. The main thing is to always enjoy hearing yourself talk..! You can tell that something is coming, how can you push away?? and also: yes, that really happened..Actually, everyone should know that.🙄
This truce wasn't authorized by any of the military commands on both sides. In fact it was a spontaneous act where the German soldiers took the initiative so to speak. After the truce many of the soldiers refused to go back to war which is very understandable but it wasn't popular among their commanders. Some even got executed for disobeying orders.
Appreciate your channel but please always let them finish, out of respect for the very considerable effort that went into these things, especially this one. They put out a LOT of effort here. I've seen movies with fewer credits. Also, the credit vocals wrap the story up and ease the whole message back down appropriately. We're not in a hurry. Why should you be? Merry Christmas to you.
Sabaton are master storytellers from sweden, very skilled musicians. There is always historical facts behind their songs. Another fascinating sabaton song are The Unkillable Soldier, its the story about Sir Adrian DeWairt a officer from Belgium who survived 3 wars, a bullet through the eye, 3 plane crashes, a handgrenade that made him loose his arm, shoot multiple times etc etc. The touhhest guy ever lived. Check it out.
Need to check out Tommy Johansson Utube channel. He's the lead guitarest for Sabaton. He does cover songs .
You checked that you did not miss anything? Well ...
You missed the aria of Floor Jansen. 😪
Yes, I think I was one that mentioned you should never stop a Sabaton video early!! Especially when Floor is singing on the credits.
That said it was otherwise a good reaction.
You can make amends though:
1916 official video by Sabaton is a must to watch.
And:
Tarja Turunen has released a new album called Dark Christmas with her take on famous Christmas songs. After hearing these you probably won't want to hear the originals again! Please watch the official videos.
Well if you want to keep the holiday theme going....try Floor Jansen (Nightwish) doing Holy Night in Finnish while 6 months pregnant. ua-cam.com/video/ym1Wc5dmUYc/v-deo.html
It is epic and here her husband Hans/drummer and Sabaton remind us that great events aren't about famous people in a dusty book.
"Looks like we did not miss anything there" - you mean except for Floors outstanding outro?!
You missed Floor? See you later
Yes it's actually happened my husbands grandfather was in the trenches he never spoke about the war. Have a look at En Livstid I Krig live in concert it's amazing very moving especially when crowd sings at beginning.
He skips Floor Jansen. He didn't even listen to her beautiful voice. Unbelievable!
What I find unbelievable is you skipped the credits and song sang by Floor Jansen .. married to Hannes .. the soldier that left the trench first.
Everybody GANGSTA... until Joakim starts playing Carol of the Bells!
More 🤘 Sabaton 🤘
They are going live in one and half hour
Never cut off a Sabaton video.
Did you see that letter the last two soldiers passed the letter he was writing in the enemy Trench he passed it to a family member to give to his wife💀💀💀
You missed Floor Jansen ! Perhaps you do not like Nightwish?
Not sure if you played it yet but another hard hitting song story is 1916 you must watch and hear.its actually a motorhead cover
So you show other peoples work and skip the credits ?😑 Well no thumbs up this time for you. The original vid have got my thumb up ofc😈🇧🇻
The song, the music video and this true story it's awesome! Thanks guys! 🤘😎
You cut of Floor Jansen at the end. That was her husband Hannes the first man out of the trenches (Sabaton's drummer)
This is a Christmas tradition song for us from now on. I always loved this story from WW1.
You must check out their full animated song, Night Witches. Another super cool true war story I never knew and some super brave Russian women!
🤘 Sabaton 🤘 The blond guitarist Tommy Johansson have his own channel
Please listen to him
Whoops. You skipped the credits. As far as we 'We are all friends'...not even 5 months before they were all trading partners with each other, and had been for quite a while...until the guns of August.
This always gives me chills, especially when the piano starts and when Floor sings the outro❣️
Never stop see a Sabaton video untill it come to the end
Congratulations you screwed up so badly I’m impressed you can use a computer! Those credits singing was the incomparable Floor Jansen! She is married to the drummer of Sabaton.
🤗🍒🤘🏻😘You say you don't want to miss anything at the end with the credits, but now you still missed Floor Jansen singing the credits song 😪
12:13 you cut off the video, so I thought "why would the two of you want me to watch your whole video", well I cut you off too at 12:14. How do you like that?
Sabaton 1916..is awesome
maybe some people said it before but sabaton always makes songs about true events related all of them with war History.
You skipped the mighty Floor!?
Maybe due the overdose of hormones in the gym. 😩😖😣
A música é maravilhosa, uma pena que vocês perderam uma das melhores partes que são os créditos cantados pela FLOOR JANSEN, que é esposa do baterista do SABATON, mas foi ótimo.
The soccer match in No Mans Land at Christmas is a legendary event.
i never don’t shed a tear when i watch this music video, it really restores your faith in humanity
The war to end all wars
Note: but wars never end 😢
You have absolutely no RESPECT for Sabaton by cutting the ending credits....UGH
Skipping the credits of this video is a crime!!! 🤬
Oh yeah, you missed the complete outro , sung by Floor…
Need to check out Tommy Johansson Utube channel. He's the lead guitarest for Sabaton. He does cover songs . Check out his cover of Black Sabbath songs ( Headless Cross) or his cover of Gary Moore ( Empty Room )
He is awesome. He posted a new song each Friday. I don't see how he does it. Touring with Sabaton, Then his on band Majestic and then his cover songs every Friday. The man has to run on 100 hrs a week.
Every other person has 24 hours a day then asking Tommy how many hours he has he wouldn't understand the question 😅
