Sabaton got a prize in Sweden for telling stories good and correct historically...
Enlighteners of the year.
Sabaton has multiple awards. Best live band, best live preformance of a song, best selling almbus etc
yeah but then they revoked the award because of wokeness-fear.
As a half Swede, this makes me feel proud of my Swedish side 🇸🇪
What is the other side?
@@axelhvetlander2212 British
as a full german guy this makes me feel proud of you and your country bro
We got to get togather. Swe.
I think all of scandinavia are in on this one!
Wow you sound like me ive been called shitnames for years but i cant help it its like when i hear some songs and maybe its the way its sung im bawling my eyes out its like witchcraft and i cant explain it. When i found Heilung band it all got more intense but the music sooths me. Big hug from Sweden
Once again, Sabaton reaches into your soul and squeezes the emotion out of you. Joakim's voice evokes deep emotion, even if you do not understand the tragic words of the song. And using this camera angle, with the lights in the crowd and their singing, makes it hit even harder. And never be sorry about going back to a solo, especially when Hannes is killing it on the drums at the same time. Great reaction and keep rocking.
Love you and your reactions, greetings from Germany
Will never forget it.... I was there and it was a magical moment. Still gives me goosebumps🇸🇪
Nothing embarising being emotional about music. I cry when I hear this song as well... And I understand the lyrics on a deep personal level.
and so do i you are not alone
Same here... Lr kanske kan säga det på svenska.... Samma här.. 😊
Same here!
Yeah, as a carolean of the great nothern war i agree.
its such shame english version is not even half that strong in my opinion cause i suck at pronouncing swedish version
Sabaton to Michel Bolton is a really short step I assume you by now a year later have seen Tommy doing Disneyton Swedish Pagans to Go the Distance music and him covering Go the Distance by now. Couldn’t find you reacting to any of them though.
Unlike most of the songs on the Carolos Rex double album this one isn't the same in English and Swedish. The Swedish version is from the perspective of a young Swedish soldier, the English version is from an outside observers perspective of the entire 30 year war. The other song on the album where the lyrics differ is the song 1648. It's about the Swedish arms siege and ransacking of Prague. The Swedish version is from a Swedish perspective, the English version is from the perspective of the inhabitants of Prague. It was the last battle of the 30 year war. It started in Prague, and ended there too.
That is so cool, thanks for the insight
1648 is also different in the swedish version
@@borbarad2.0 Yes, just like I said if you read the entire post.
I really should read and try to comprehend.
@@shadegate6660 and outsight. 😂
Best choir conductors Sweden has! Having been in the audience during one of these performances (though at a much smaller venue) I can say that it's pretty darn powerful live. I hope they do it on their tour now so you can experience it but it might just be something they do in Sweden. Also, YES to more Tommy!
When they came through the US, they didn't do "A Lifetime of War", but they did do "Gott Mit Uns" and they polled the crowd right before hand asking if they wanted it in English or Swedish, so there's a chance!
Though, another consideration is that the English version of "A Lifetime of War" is completely different lyrically than the Swedish version, with the Swedish version (in my opinion) being a lot more personal for Swedes.
@@cah11111 True, it's basically two completely different songs. Luckily they have plenty of songs that lend themselves to singalongs, Gott Mit Uns being one of them, so no matter where you are and what language you speak a Sabaton concert is an awesome experience.
I’m waiting for them to come back to america since I missed them last year because I have fallen completely in love with this band
I have tickets for a concert in sweden in two weeks.
Maybe I should study the lyrics a bit more cause I can't say that I know them all by heart.
@@RexRegisPeter If you are seeing them on their Swedish tour, they will do this for sure. I don't think you need to know the lyrics to appreciate it though but, yeah, it's probably more fun if you can sing along.
About Sabaton and Michael Bolton- i think the word that I would describe this deep feeling that touches and goes thru the emotional shield is the word resonance. When you find the (music) frequency it touches the soul.
Nice reaction, I was at this show (sitting somewhere in the middle of the platform to the left from this view of the stage)
Just before this clip started Joakim said Nobody carries around a lighter anymore but you all have phones right? So turn on your lights for this one. Totally wonderful, my friends, let's sing together en livstid i krig (a lifetime of war)
Needless to say, this was one hell of a show that night sadly, this was just before covid broke out, and started canceling shows, had for once tickets for 5 shows and 1 festival that year and this was the only one I got to attend. As a side note, we were 10766 metal heads at the arena that night, going by statistics in the newspaper and online after the show, the arena was sold out.
The lyrics are very emotional in this version. It describes the 30 years war in Europe (1618-1648) from a young Swedish boys perspective, sent out to a war far from home in a small village to a country he dont even know where it is. One can say that this conflict actually was the first world war, because so many nations was involved.
Yes, yes, yes! I get the power of the music comment. The first time I heard this song same thing no idea what he was saying. And somehow knew everything he was saying. One of those grabs ya from the very beginning songs and you just can't help love it
Hello again. Your video came up in my feed again and I just heard your words about Michael Bolton. I had a good laugh, because Bolton's voice has always gripped me. I even liked his mullet. In Swedish it is called "hockeyfrilla"..😂
Can we agree that we are suckers for our heros, no matter if we are Norse or American?
En Livstid I Krig is such a emotional song. Absolute masterpiece.
This song (though I don’t cry) always makes me sad. The song is powerful.
Waow my friend...now you have touched my absolut favourite song from Sabaton. To top it all, I was actually at this concert standing there on the left. I will never forget the feeling in the crowd. The pride and the sadness tjat is portrayed in this song is incredible. We all joined in clapping, singing and crying..EPIC MOMENT!!!
Funny you mentioned Michael Bolton...his How am I supposed to live without you is hard to handle without shedding a tear or two.😂
About mancrush on Tommy, he released a new cover today with his brother-in-law Kim, absolutely killing it!
Such an epic song, love it! Thank you for reacting 🤗
A testament to the power of music AND the depth of your empathy.
Powerful song and performance. Thanks Chief!
Michael Bolton to Sabaton…nope just can’t get there, lol
So glad you chose this version.
Its in Gothenburg Sweden and i was on this concert with my 3 sons👍🏻🤘🏼❤
This kinda speaks to that primal part in me, so yes, it's emotional. Sabaton are great storytellers. Lucky me, I get to see them live in a few weeks and Tommy and the hair... Thank you for a solid reaction! 🤘
You are wearing a Bloodywood Tshirt , which is an Indian Metal Band. Thanks for your love.

I can only imagine!
Sidenote again...Tommy Is from my small hometown in the Winterfell of Sweden 🇸🇪 Way up north. So proud of him
Never heard someone make connection between Michael Bolton and Sabaton, that was new to me. This one stirs up emotions everytime I hear it.
That smile when people hear the audience sing...... never gets old
I understand the thing about the feeling of the power of music. Some songs just make me cry.
Loved this, you got a sub directly.
Im a Swedish dude, a soldier in our homeguard and ofc I'v seen Sabaton a few times.
I hate war, I wish we did not need to train for it, BUT I do for my country, for my family and would do what I can for them.
I respect you for listening to them, your love for music, as a fellow metalhead that could not survive without it, I will def follow your content.
Singer in 2 metal projects, music is therapy.
Keep it up Chief, hope to see more Swedish metal on your page 🤘🖤
Ha-hA, the day before yesterday Epica released the official live for the song rivers in exactly the same shooting style, now it's clear who they learned it from 😆
It made me cry! I would buy tickets but I have a "little" difficulty with crowds 😏 greetings from Sweden 🇸🇪
Sabaton 40:1 Live at Woodstock in 2012. (Also Uprising from same Live performance) are very powerful displays too. Songs about the polish resistance in ww2 in front of a massive polish audience.
Sabaton got some songs that stirr up the emotions. The Price of a Mile, The Final Solution, Hearts of Iron and more. Love them.
I lose it every time to Camouflage, Last Stand and To Hell and Back.
Every time I watch this video, it gives me chills! It's just so powerful. This was one of the first videos of Sabaton that I saw. Before I even knew what the lyrics meant, it brought me to tears. This song was the start of me trying to learn the Swedish language.
And Tommy is phenomenal!
This is one of the most powerful songs I've ever heard, in its most powerful performance. As a cathedral alto myself, I have made people cry (in a good way!) singing some of the greatest music of the last 500 years (e.g. the Victoria Requiem, Purcell's Funeral Sentences, Mozart Requiem, Howells Hymnus Paradisi), and this has the same power.
I love Sabaton. Usually play them and Nightwish when im at work so everyone can hear it. Hehe. Also great that I live near the boarder to Sweden, so I know Swedish. It's close to Norwegian so it's easy to learn. So it's easy to follow their lyrics. :D
And you said Tommy's last name correct the 1 time. :D
Song suggestion! Solence - Blood sweat tears (From their new album they are releasing soon, music video on their channel) :D
@Marita Svendsen It's funny, I like and play those exact 2 bands myself ^^ It's my top 2 out of all.
@@SonnyKnutson Hehe. Yay! That’s amazing. 😄 Mine too! Plus Solence after that. 😄
I was there ...i always ugly cries to this song at every concert
Big mood on replaying Tommy interacting with the camera!
Good music is good music. The power it has over us can bring us to places we never expect.
Loving your reaction. All the best for U and your family. Greetings from Germany.
Great reaction. Love it.
Loved your reaction 😍❤️. Many small villages dissapeard in Sweden during the early sixteenhundreds. All that was left was women, children and old men, the young boys and middleaged men died in a far away country during the 30 year war, in Germany mostly. A sad song, but wars are sad for those who fight it and for those left behind😢. ❤️❤️❤️
The song is pulling at ur heart and soul, the feeling that is hard to describe is what I personally feel as a connection with "god" ,the feeling of unity in a massive gathering as this.all the souls give off a powerful spiritual punch and it just makes the body react with tears cos god is pure love and its the greatest gift we as humans can feel. I also get hooked in at that opening high pitch :D so amazing!!"
I'm there me and my 3 sons, the roof lift up because of our song it was amasing i tell you.🤘🏼😅❤ Me from town Gothenburg The Rock 'n Roll Town of Sweden.
My one song of Sabaton that is one my search for new reactions so I can enjoy it again and again... it's such a powerful song...
checked your hi ren and screech tale stuff out, then went to this next randomly, and your right i have no idea what they are saying but the crowd all uniting and supporting the act and taking over the song is heart warming and has so much emotion to it, seeing a sea of lit supporters singing the song back to you must be super overwhelming and the song has such a positive , warming tone to it with its chords etc.
Man I've just given You a sub. I've opened for Sabaton back in 2005/2006? Just as they released their very first album. I'm a drummer. Was even asked to audition for them but i was on a heroine binge and it would never have happened. Got some awesome stories about lots of stuff! Partied with them backstage! Very likeable people.
Hope we can have a beer one day!
William,
Aus Schweden 🇸🇪
Wish I could give more then one like. You are awesome chief.
Sabaton is a one of a kind band that will not just telling stories/facts about war in the history. They will make history as band. So unique and clever band. Songwriting that many can relate to and they combine it with music that fits every song + a hell of creative live show and staging. Btw, i can also relate to your comparison to Michael Bolton. The key is powerful lyrics that matches sound-settings that triggers emotions in humans. Music stimulates different receptors in our brains and if you add powerful lyrics = A genius song! In ”Livs tid i krig” they use strokes to lift up the lyrics, cuz its a very powerful massage. Small details but very effective. Stroke sounds are one of the most effective sound on our receptors. Good reaction man ! Watched it twice cuz of your way to put words on your feelings and thoughts⭐️ Keep it up
Pease music lover Nice reaction indeed 🤗❤
One of my favorite songs evry time shivers on my body when i hear this
I was there 🤘🏻 Yes! Time for Tommy! Oh! I’m a pagan now,and of course still a Gooner.
Absolute legend 🤘🏻
@@Chief322 Tommy’s just released his version of Thunderstruck by AC/DC which is epic. But if you like something completely diffrent from Tommy why not react to his powermetal, one octave challange of Basket Case by Green Day.
I watched a video or two when you started out on UA-cam and when you were a bit more insecure. Wow you have come a long way! Emotions, personality, honesty and analysis. Brilliant reaction.
I echo what everyone else has said in their comments. Sabaton is amazing. I love your reaction, I love the music and I love you, my friend. Carry on! 🥰
Seen this so many times. Makes me tear up every time bcuz its soo powerful. Being swedish and big metal fan this makes me feel so proud ❤❤
He he, and I had to check Michael Bolton :-) I've just listened to - When a Man Loves a Woman. Yeh, I remember I liked it when I was a teenager. Strong voice. Thanks for your reaction to this amazing Sabaton song!
I was there! Still the best one ive been at so far. This band is amazing live.
Goosebumps every time!!!
I was there. Fantastic show. Seen them over 10 times.
Ya gotta listen to this one with the subtitles .... it'll give you chills. As a Soldier and combat vet - it'll give you chills.
If this made you cry (Which is fair enough) i dread to think what you'll be like with Disturbed - Hold onto the memories
Cracking reaction bro. The powerful moment of a crowd just living in the moment!
As i said on the last one. React to - The Future of Warfare please :)
Dang, I wanted to cry again reading the Disturbed title. That song gets me every time.
@@suzonlommel3737 it really does. I think it hits home no matter who you are
I gotchu brother 🤘🏻 Scared shitless to do Disturbed tbf 🤣 You legend ❤️
I think the best way to describe Sabaton and this song in particular is this: It grabs you in the feels and CLENCHES down hard and will never let go. Mad Respect for this group: the respect they give for BOTH sides of the conflict, the conscripted soldiers who had no choice and were sent as food for the gun. Sabaton does not take sides. They pay mad respect for both sides, understanding that the front-line soldier is there because they had no choice and, more than likely, had no beef with the enemy in the other trenches as human beings. They know that most, if not all, conflict and war is caused by politicians who have no qualms about sending young boys, children, to fight and die for their endgame. While said children soldiers know yet follow their orders with unwavering loyalty in the conflict. Just like the Christmas Truce of 1914, these BOYS, children, have not beef with those in the other trench and wold enjoy a pint in a pub of their were not forced to point guns at one another.
You talking about Michael Bolton from your childhood...YOU GET IT! There is that one artist, that one song that grabs you in the feels, clenches and never lets go of your heart. The music and the words just grab you like a wee baby crying tears for their mother, begging to be picked up and held in her loving arms. Even when the song is heartbreaking, grabs you, regardless of age, all you can think of when you hear that one song is: mommy, give me a cuddle squoosh, please? Bring you right back to being a tiny baby when emotion was all that drove you. Fathers and Sons. Epically and fundamentally powerful. Fathers and Sons.
Let's just think about that for a moment: Fathers and Sons. Men who were, from the taught to be stoic, emotionless, unfeeling. This Song, breaks that all down. Fathers and Sons.
Fathers and Sons.
Can't wait to finally see them live in February in Karlskrona, Sweden.
I can't even lie... I know this would hit the feels when you would get to this... But no mercy for reactors!
2019 through Beste zangers I met Floor Jansen. Not a Metal head at all (I thought) I gave Nightwish a change because I fell in love with Floor's voice.
The best thing that could happen because I'm sold/hooked.
Than the notification that Floor's husband is the drummer of Sabaton from Sweden. Giving them a change as well I found out I am a Metal head 🤭 and this year I'm going to see Floor 2 times (April Utrecht Tivoli, December Amsterdam Ziggo Dome) and Sabaton ((May 3th Amsterdam).
I'm so looking forward to 2023 💯😍🇵🇾🧡
🤘
The Swede in me gets so proud for everyone who loves our Sabaton 😍
Sabaton, Christmas Truce
Hello from Sweden! Soon Sabaton will start their Sweden tour (27/1), Hulkoff will be the opening band, so I think you should listen to one of their songs with Joakim on the chorus. Hulkoff - Ibor & Aio feat. Jocke Brodén (Official Audio)
I was there and it was one of the best shows in my life.
Wow, always knew about Sabaton, but wow.. Didn't know about this.. The feeling you talk about, you don't get that very often
This song is about Swedish soldiers during the 30-years war, but especially part of the first verse that the crowd sings immediately makes me think of Ukraine now. And the regular folks there that have taken up arms to defend their homeland. I suspect the thoughts articulated here would resonate a lot with many if not all of them.
Great reaction!
If you like Michael Bourbon check out the cover from tommy go the distance
Man everytime i watch this the acapella gets me everytime goosebumps man
When i met tommy sleeping at the bus, i kindo wake him up asking for an autograph, he wrote "TOMMY FOR FAN" CAPITOL letters meaning "TOMMY GOD DAMMIT"
That oughta be our new national anthem!!
Maybe the word you wanted was anthemic? Thats why i call that kinda powerful catchy moving music- like its the bands anthem.
The song En Livstid I krig Bast on the 30.year. sibbel War . Sweden was a part.of it under Gustav Adolf . King of Sweden . The Song Lion of the North is the Story of Gustav Adolf of Sweden . 🤘🤘
Yes more Tommy 🥰!!!! Do She’s gone (Steelheart cover)💥❤️!!

OOh, another song suggestion. Floor released a new single a few days ago. Since you talked about PTSD, she made a song about it. Invincible is the song. There is a lyric music video for it on her UA-cam. :D
Fun fact: I learned Swedish almost wholly because of this song :)
Och nu hoppas jag att jag pratar svenska ganska bra :D
I know exactly what you are talking about 👍. I have traveled to France 5 times to see Mylene Farmer. I have not got a clue what she sing about. It's the emotions the songs deliver. I hope you seen the sabaton video with English texting by now. Otherwise you really need to do it.
