Any other meds to reduce CV INFLAMATION other than the Statins? Is statin the only meds?

I have stopped taking statins three times. I am kind of gullible because I thought the doctors knew what was best for me. Each time I took statins I had bad muscle pain and quit but they convinced me to try again. The last time I quit was because a study showed that statins could cause permanent muscle damage. Considering that the heart is a muscle, taking statins seemed insane. I have since learned that statins only decreased the chances of having a heart attack by 1 percent rather than the 35 percent as claimed and that low cholesterol levels in seniors is dangerous.

see how they lured us into these poison? They let us spend a lot of money and slowly kill us as well. Statins are in fact causing heart attacks. High cholesterol is a myth. Our body produces cholesterol in certain levels for our muscles and brain to function normally. if you eat fatty foods, your body will produce less for balance, By artificially reducing it thru drugs, you run the risk of heart attacks. It happens really when even a 26 year-old athletic guy who suddenly collapsed due to heart attack. He was taking statins at the time and so sevely taxed his heart due to lower functions of his heart at the same time exertion thru his athletic chores. Deadly combination.

Atorvastatin gave me such muscle and joint pain, I was already debilitated. Couldn't carry, lift, push, pull, twist anything over a couple of pounds without severe wrist and/or shoulder pain beginning about 12 hours later and continuing for about 36-50 hours. This wasn't "Hmmm, maybe I have a touch of arthritis" pain. This was "Holy cow! how did I break my wrist?" pain. Entirely unacceptable.

It was put there back in 2013 and wa on statins for almost 7 years non stopping. My body couldn't hand it anymore. My joints, my lower back, my hands and wrist were a mess. I believe that even now after almost two years non taking statings side effects have remained. Just go for a 4 miles run every other day, cut sugar and simple carbohydrates, eat lots of sprouted veggies, green leaves, olive oil, salmon, lean meat, dried fruits, fresh fruits, seeds and nuts, dark bitter chocolate, oats. As supplements i take red yeast rice, vitamin d, cat's claw, spirulina, blackseed oil, aspirins and coQ10. I pray, i do not cheat on myself or wife and i accept life how it is and study and work within love and gratefulness ( which is the best medice amongst all)

If ANY DOCTOR had been so candid so as to explain that my chances of a heart event would have gone from 1 in 100 to 2 in 100 by discontinuing statins,.... I would have quit a long time ago. The side effects are not worth the miniscule benefit.

I stopped taking stains and hypertension meds almost a year ago. I began with Crestor in 2002, but it was too powerful and my cholesterol went from 220 to 159 in three months. Switched to Lipitor, and cholesterol stayed in the 180s. This went on for 10 years, after which my blood pressure went up 140/90. So then I had to take Norvasc, which is a statin plus hypertension med. Three years later, my creatinine began rising. Now the kidneys were affected. And all this while following a low fat, low salt diet, with regular workouts. So I said F that, began doing my own research. Switched to higher fat foods, my carbs are just veggies, kept the workouts. My last checkup showed higher HDL, much much lower triglycerides, although LDL just slightly higher than normal. Blood pressure 115/77. And my kidneys' filtration rate went up 9 points, from 42 to 51. I can't really say that the statins and other drugs contributed to my other maladies, but I think I can safely say that I don't really need them. The key is lifestyle. It's not easy, but neither is it impossible. However, if you would rather take a pill, I don't fault people for that. I have friends that would rather do that than follow my lead. It's their life, right?

Been eating a whole food plant based diet. My LDL is 62, total cholesterol 129. I stopped taking my med. and my doctor convinced me to go back on them at have the dose. I agreed and started them up again. I’m type two diabetic and have lowered my A1C from 6.1 to 5.6. I stopped taking Metformine too and again Dr. Wanted me back on, and again the dose was cut in half in a time released pill. The only drug the Dr. Let me stop was for high blood pressure.
It’s amazing just how many chemicals are poor bodies have to put up with and does so pretty well for the most part. But....so many of us are living into our elderly years the major health problems when in the past we would have just passed away. 7/07/17 my beloved sister passed at 75. She fell and broke her pelvis, had to have surgery, picked up one of the most deadly infections, then more surgery. Her fight to live was around 10 months of pure pain and discomfort. In the end she was so emaciated and week she passed within two days of giving up.
    She’s my angel now... 😘

The problem I see with these studies showing increased cardiovascular event risk is that they don't appear to adjust for other factors that can impact outcomes. They only consider the overall binary choice of continue statins or stop statins. What kind of diet was being maintained before and after stopping statins? What were the exercise patterns before and after stopping statins. What other lifestyle factors changed, if any?
Without considering other changes that might have taken place, uncontrolled variables are ignored.
For example, if a group of people stopped taking statins but increased lifestyle changes that improved their risks, that group may have had very few or no cardiac events, while the group that made no changes may have experienced more events than the overall composite rate indicated. The blended average for the group who stopped taking statins is a useful statistic, but not nearly as useful as it would be with lifestyle change information factored in.

the biggest missing data in those studies is whether people just took it as a miracle pill so they could continue living the way they wanted versus people who stopped statins but actually changed their diet and life styles. If you take statins and keep on the same path dietarily and life style then stopping statins while living that way most likely will result in the tests outcome. If you learn the right way to eat and live you will naturally lower the cholesterols the body does not need and raise the ones it does need therefor making those numbers in the study data non pertinent to people who are taking control of their own health vesus taking a pill to live the way they want with no accountability.

Not all side effects are listed on statins, sexual dysfunction, neurologic problems such as dementia and Alzheimer, diabetes, cancer, liver enzyme elevation, co q10 depletion and recent study shows even more plaque formation. If you want to lower ldl then lower or cut off sugar and carbohydrates consuming more vegetables, doing fasting, and increase fat intake. LDL and triglycerides go up with high sugar and high carbs diet.

Can you expound on your observation? Intermittent fasting is probably the cheapest and practical way getting into ketosis by skipping meals or limiting feeding time to 5 or 6 hours a day. This lowers the insulin responsible for the rise of cholesterol and deposition of fats in the liver and other organs. Intermittent fasting lowers the weight, the BP and brings back insulin sensitivity to reverse diabetes. If it works for a diabetic client for 27 years resulting to removal of all medications I don't understand why this will not work for you. Thanks for your reply.

    • @christislord7003
      @christislord7003 6 років тому

I have a simple solution to blood sugar monitoring you can use to adjust your carbohydrate intake. Monitor your blood BS before meal, write down what food you ate and amount and monitor 2 hours after. Do this in a week and you can have a clear picture of what food raises your blood sugar. The next week you can modify the amount and even add or take away what ever food you may want to try but keeping the same monitoring system. On the third week you will have a clearer picture what food and amount will maintain a normal range of blood sugar. You don't need to prick yourself for life if you have a good idea what food will work best for you. From what you told me the Mediterranean diet works well for you. You lost weight and had a1c of 4.8. This alone brings down lots of co morbidities in a diabetic person but essentially your diabetes would have been controlled. You said your blood sugar tends to go down further. In a normal person blood sugar remains with in 5 mmol/l even with prolonged fasting unless there are diabetics pills involved. The body will use our reserve fats (ketosis) thus resulting to loss of weight and insulin sensitivity. I hope you keep up with your Mediterranean diet in keeping your health in top shape. Thanks. FYI there are new studies about benefit of high cholesterol in older people so you may wanna consider looking into crestor use.

I am recovering for a quintuple bypass 4 weeks ago. I never had a heart attack or any symptoms. I just happened to get a calcium score done that came back at 2985. I was rushed to the cath lab. They found that I had 3 arteries that were 95% blocked and 2 more that were 85% blocked. I was immediately admitted into the hospital and 4 days later I had open heart bypass. I spent another week in the hospital before returning home. The first 3.5 weeks I steadily got better. Then 4 days ago I started getting stiff and having muscular pain and limited mobility. I stopped taking the 10mg Crestor today. I am not going to take it for a week or two and see how I feel. If the pain and stiffness goes away I will not take it anymore. There is so much information that shows that statins aren’t good for us. I am also diabetic and taking metformin, statins will increase blood sugar amongst many other bad side affect. It’s a shame that so many doctors are owned by big pharma and continue to prescribe statins and so many other supposed medications that do a lot more harm than good. I went to the ketogenic diet after leaving the hospital. I have lost 25lbs and my BP and blood sugar have dropped into accepted levels.

From what I have gathered in information about this issue of statins from several doctors that have discussed it on UA-cam is ….
Some of the earlier studies on statins were funded by the drug companies that were manufacturing those various drug classes, that absolute and relative risk were not distinguished in advertising, that many primary care doctors didn’t even know the difference in those terms, that unless you already have a heart condition, the benefit is not worth the cost and potential side effects, that LDL is the fire fighter-not the fire so to speak, being that the cholesterol component goes to those areas of blood vessels that are already damaged and inflamed, that the main culprit of stroke and heart attack is metabolic syndrome, resulting in pre diabetes and diabetes.
I may have missed other arguments that are out there but from what I have heard from those medical professionals against statins, I am now persuaded against them until I have heard evidence otherwise.
I have reversed my own type 2 diabetes through simply low carb/keto and eating right is what everyone should be focusing on and the doctors, in my opinion should be preaching hard to patients.

I have been on and off again with these out of fear of long term damage. 2 years ago I started L Arginine and Citrulline for Nitric Oxide and now starting Niacin to raise HDL's and lower LDL's. I would go back on a low dose statin for medial anti inflammatory effects but at what dose? I don't want to compromise the function of my Liver with higher doses. I just want to say that my mom was never taking medication, right
well my mom arteries was clogged up but she caught it she felt something was wrong with her because she couldn't burp and something else she went to the doctor that she use to work for and sure enough her arteries was badly clog luckily she caught it because she would of had a heart attack and would of been dead, like my uncle he wasn't feeling well so he left work went home and laid down and never woke up he died. My mom is a nurse she knows about the human body she went to college for it many degrees on it, so when something is wrong with any of us or her family everybody call my mom. Anyway she had open heart surgery, she was put on heart medicine than two years later another open heart surgery and this time they took an artery from her leg so she is on 2, or 3 different heart medication and everything she eat is gluten free she can't stop taking her medication and she is 63, going on 64 Nov 2018, so she does take care of herself and I am happy that she does cause she would of been dead but she living life!!!
