Bravo! A week after I started statins I did not know the name of my dog I had for five years. Joint aches, muscle aches, trouble sleeping. Stopped the statins and three days later all was fine. Best of luck to all of us!!
I quit statins cold turkey. From day 1, I started feeling better. It’s been 4 months and I have more energy, less pain in body, feel better emotionally and overall feeling healthy since 1991. Statins are dangerous!
And Yeah So What statins arent dangerous, they just dont suit everyone. You're one if them they dont suit as you had adverse reactions. Others have been enjoying low cholestral with no adverse effects for years. For some they work, for others they dont. The same as any drug.
@@marieholoub4084 hi Marie Do you have any stent on your artery coronary? I would like to know more about your diet please. I am 53 old and I have got a stent for 3 months. Thanks
Good on you mate. I stopped taking statins about 4 months ago, my cardiologist went crazy, so I fired him. Got another cardiologist who has a brain and thinks outside the books. I’m feeling better.
I had to have a medical “checkup” 5 years ago, to get medical insurance. Never had one before and hadn’t visited a doctor for many years. Result: cholesterol level normal, everything else from the blood test also normal. Blood pressure high, so I was sent off to a cardiologist. Very thoroughly tested: heart and physical fitness like that of a much younger person; blood pressure high. Was prescribed pills to be taken every day for life. Blood pressure came down dramatically within three weeks. Since then I’ve continued with the medication and also incorporated healthier foods in my diet. Also since about that time I’ve been waking up with muscle pains in my legs that have been getting worse. I thought “Oh, must be because I’m getting old”. But then, just two weeks ago I came across some information about “statins” and noticed that one of my daily pills contains “atorvastatin”. Stopped taking it and immediately the muscle pains stopped! I now feel fitter and more energetic than I have for a long time! (I’m now 80.)
I'm 68 and I've been told my cholesterol is twice what it should be but I've refused medication and I don't intend to take any. I don't consume any carbs so I'm quite content with my health as it is.
My initial blood panel test showed only an elevated cholesterol level and so I was put on Atorvastatin 40 mg per diem. After about 2 months a subsequent blood test showed a reduced cholesterol level but that I was then in stage 2 renal failure. I immediately stopped the statin, adopted a healthy diet and lost weight. My cardiovascular and kidney problems have improved significantly and I'm feeling much better overall.
I stopped statins about eleven years ago. I had taken them for about a year and a half before stopping them. Why did I stop them? Because they made me feel terrible: I had a constant numb pain in my head, and my joints felt arthritic (even though I do not suffer from arthritis). My doctor told me that stopping them was very risky. I told him I was prepared to take that risk. Within about a week or so, I started to feel normal again: no more headaches and no more joint pains. My cholesterol has been in the acceptable range ever since. I eat a LCHF diet. I swear by it. I cut out sugar and sugary foods altogether. I eat a natural diet. I don't touch processed foods. My short experiment with statins taught me one important thing: that statins are very unhealthy. The doctor can keep his statins; I'll eat butter instead!
Thank you so much for sharing. I have a friend who is so weak and has multiple health issues but I think they ate all due to statins. She's been on them 20 years. Not 1 doctor has suggested her nausea, fatigue and weakness, sleep problems, insulin resistance, brain fog are related to any of the sum of about 20 medications she is on. She has 23 stints. I heard in a video doctors discussing they may have done more stints for people than needed.
@@MsElke11 I agree! I had SEVERE muscle cramps on them, so I stopped taking them. Not pleasant waking up from a deep sleep to a horrible leg cramp. Statins: in the trash!
@@Randolph1233 of course, they don't cure anything only cover symptoms with poisonous medication which have side effects worse that than the issue being treated! I don't trust pharmaceutical company's or most Doctors!
I can't thank you enough for this video AND the comments. It is so important for others suffering still from statins, to hear from many others about how they felt after getting off statins! Thank you everyone and please keep sharing your stories!
High cholesterol is not a problem. Even high LDL is not necessarily a problem; it fixes damage and inflammation. The goal should be to lower coronary inflammation by reducing what causes it; primarily processed carbs and high insulin production.
this, high cholesterol is actually very protective in older age, particularly in women. Much for the reasons Grimr mentions here, they are transporters for all sorts of things to repair damaged and inflamed sites. Particle size of the cholesterol transporters could possibly be an issue, but if you eat healthy these will be of the large buoyant variety which again are protective. (paleo/keto - basically whole foods, low carb, though more carbs are less problematic if you're decently active since your insulin sensitivity will be higher and glycogen stores depleted therefore you will deal with sugar/insulin in a healthier way)
Yes, I think that's right. I had an aortic valve replacement and a bypass a few years ago, so I was prescribed statins. I think they make me feel really tired. I take CoQ10 to alleviate the fact that statins lowers natural CoQ10 production.
American medics realised there's no link between cholesterol and heart disease years ago. There is, however, a very strong link between statins and dementia. Any coincidence that since doctors started prescribing statins to everyone, dementia cases have increased massively??
Is the link with dementia related to the fact that our brain uses about 25% of our cholesterol. If you use statins does it hinder brain cholesterol function?
Correlation is not causation. Let’s say for example that statins prolonged the life of someone who would have otherwise died. The number one risk factor for dementia and Alzheimers (not the same thing) is age. Also the baby boomers are all in their 70s and 80s now, when all the old age diseases start kicking in. It’s a huge part of the population. So that’s going to cause a spike in statistics for heart disease, stroke, dementia, etc. There are simply more people living to these ages. I believe they should exclude anyone age 80 and up from all disease statistic totals. What you really want to know is, what is my risk at age xx for xx disease.
@@gayedawn1 The brain has cholesterol in it's very composition, the link between statins and brain function degradation is widely known but rarely admitted.
@@joeltunnah the link isn’t age. It’s chronic high level of insulin. Looks into talks given by low cab down under doctors. Very interesting information.
On statin for ten years. Have had joint pain insomnia and loss of muscle in arms and legs . Research and personal experiences like this doctor's have convinced me to stop taking them. Keep fit, lose weight and eat better diet is what a lot of doctors are saying. Thank you for your vidio.
My experience with Statins: I have been on statins for nearly two years and have started developing slight head twitches. I spoke to my doctor who said that it was nothing to do with statins but I feel differently. My other symptoms are lack of sleep (when my sleep patterns have always been perfect, broken veins suddenly appearing on my face and chest, visceral fat around my stomach, anxiety, depression and irritability. And lastly, as someone who has been very lucky in the ageing process, as soon as I started taking statins I started to age rapidly. To this end, as you can imagine, I am slowly weening myself off this poisonous lie of a drug.
I was taking 10 mg., I just quit cold turkey. Side effects wasn’t worth it, my total cholesterol stays about 260 but my HDL(the good stuff) is about double the norm.
At age 55 I am perfectly healthy with a total cholesterol level of 9.7 my entire adult life. NO statins, my body, my decision..... thanks for this video. It is reassuring.

I quit the statins about a year ago, and now I do not have to take glucosamine. Before, I was taking 4 big tabs a day for muscle and joint discomfort. The joint and muscle pain went away completely. It was the statins causing it! I also adopted a healthy lifestyle and lost 40 pounds as an alternative.
About 12 years ago, the doctor prescribed me Statin as my cholesterol and BP was high. Immediately after taking it, my body felt terrible, pain all over and feel depressed. After 2 weeks, I stopped taking Statin. Changed my diet to less carbohydrates and sugar, jog 2 to 3 days a week and took supplements - garlic, vitamin C and fish oil. After 3 months my cholesterol reduced and my BP improved. Nowadays I eat 2 to 3 eggs per day, less carbohydrates, eat more butter, take supplements - magnesium, vitamin D and Omega 3. Walk 5,000 to 10,000 steps daily and spend 15 to 20 minutes under the sun. I am much healthier now than 12 years ago.
Well done taking control over your own Wellbeing. By doing your own research and understanding Nutrition and keeping fit, you are of course feeling fantastic
Ive stopped mine a few weeks ago and i feel alive now, my heart rate dropped from 100 to 60 bpm, i have more energy and no leg muscle pains, i was put on a statin as a precaution when diagnosed with diabetes 15 years ago, incedently my blood glucose has almost normalised since i stopped my statin, dropped from 10.1 to 6.4 when i wake.
My dad spent the last 10 years of his life in a chair. It took him 3 minutes to get out of it and cross the room to the phone. No other diagnosis, I blame the statins.
As I posted above, in the U.S. statins CAUSE 45,000 cases of diabetes a year. The FDA required a warning label in the written info with the package. Statins can make diabetes worse. In Great Britain, I would have to look up the number but it would be comparable.
I had been on Statins for a decade. For the last 6yrs i have had severe swelling and my left leg was almost twice the size of my right leg. This condition was getting painful and felt like the skin on my shin was going to split. I read something online about statins causing swelling and as of a week ago stopped my statin intake.I can't believe it ,finally the swelling of both legs has decreased but more impressively, both legs look almost the same size now. Two years ago i made a miraculous recovery from a stroke, where i had lost feeling in the right side of my face and torso, the right arm was a dead weight, was unable to speak coherently for five weeks,so really hope i'm doing the right thing.. A week in i do feel much better not taking statins as i seriously could not have felt much worse.
I’ve been off mine for 17 years. Feel great. I do a lot of mountain hiking and watch my diet , not crazily, but better than most people. Every time, it’s still “high,” but I sleep through the night pretty much every night ( though I do get that pee run at 4 am more often than I used to🥴). I am an octogenarian.
Good for you mate. That breakfast is something I dearly miss ( left the UK. in '75). I too have had a high cholesterol level which, up till now, has been treated with a statin. The muscle aches and weakness have become nigh intolerable so I, like you, have opted out. I wonder how much they'll charge me for a coronary CT scan here in the US though, probably thousands! Well good luck to you and thanks for posting.
My hospital gave me a cardiac calcium scoring test for $50.

My aorta split and I was near death. But I instructed my attending nurse and physician to cease giving me any drug made by Pfizer. I had the benefit of having worked for them and I knew the side effects that they consider acceptable.
Cholesterol is now being suggested to be protective, esp for women over 60. If HDL is high and trigs are low and HBA1c is low, LDL and total appear to be irrelevant. See www.cholesterolcode.com (Dave Feldman's experimental site, look for "hyper-responders".) The Low Carb Downuder conference playbacks on YT ditto.
My doctor has been pushing for me to take statins for years, I've said no, so he is very "cool" to me (I've always been very fit, never obese, BP good, have never drank, smoked, or done drugs). The docs like you to just do as they say & NOT ask questions...
Those of you that are worried enough about your ldl levels to take statins need to read a little about the hdl to triglyceride ratio. Mine is usually around a 1 to 1 ratio and I quit taking statins 4 years ago. Do yourself a favor and check it out.
I think you made the right choice for yourself. I think I did too-- age 74 this month and been off statins for 3+ years. I think I eat the proper, natural foods in abundant quantities, never hungry, exercise, and take a few supplements, esp vit d. Weigh what I did 50 years ago.

I'm not that sold on statins, even though, I take them because I was born with a dodgy aortic valve and had it replaced. I think blood pressure meds are a bit dodgy too. It's not the same for everyone.
No statins for 64 years, smug I know but seriously I'm delighted for those of you who have listened to their body's and taken the appropriate action. It is far too easy for us old boys and girls to be over medicated. Take care.🛌😉
I had hypertension for the first time in my lifetime a little more than a month ago. I had an annual physical and my blood work came back good and my cholesterol levels were within range because of Lipitor pills which is a statin. I been on it for more than 10 years. In the Philippines, during this pandemic, the government mandates that all seniors age 60 and above stay Inside of the house and I'm 74 next month and was 72 in March of last year when the pandemic cause a lockdown. I'm a former Medic from the Air Force. Being that my diet did not cause my hypertension, admittedly I was not getting enough sleep as well as living a sedentary lifestyle. Combined, I will say that's what led to my hypertension. My BP was 181 over 110. Even though my heart was palpitating and I was lightheaded, my strong body is what saved me. I'm a retired Senior Olympian and silver medalist at senior olympics and gold medals at everything below that and my cousin is Jesse Owens the Olympian and I was a sprinter as well. Before pandemic, I danced every weekend and previously danced on TV in California and that explains why my health was like a young person annually. I was put on meds to bring my blood pressure down. After the third week, I took a chance and stop taking my meds. Two days past and my BP was within range on my Mediterranean Diet I began the day I was diagnosed with hypertension which was three days before I was rushed to the hospital. It was 149 over 80 on the day of my physical. Next day it was 151 over 110. Next day it was 181 over 110. Since my BP was being controlled, I researched statins for the first time and learned of the side effects. Some I was experiencing because I had black liquid stools. I learned that was a sign of beginning liver disease. It could also lead to liver failure. During my exam. They found a cyst on my liver with lots of fluid but no sign of cancer. My kidney also had a cyst but no sign of cancer. I told my wife my doctor wrote my prescription for a statin years ago and never mentioned the side effects. I was upset. I immediately toss them in the trash and my wife was happy. I saw my doctor a week later because my 30 days was up. He was getting ready to write another prescription for blood pressure medicine and I told him I stopped taking them after the third week and my BP is under control. He was happy for me. I also told him I discontinued taking my statins and I am relying on my diet to keep my Cholesterol levels under control. He was surprised but he said okay. My black tarry stools are now solid again and brown which is normal. That's my testimony regarding statins so I totally agree with you sir. Have a happy, healthy, and blessed everyday. 🙋🏾♂️👌🏽😇🙏🏾☝🏽
Statin's are great if you own a drugs company, for patients they are a risk factor, causing more side effects and life changing events than not taking them. They are a danger to health. I stopped them 15 years ago, shock, I am still alive doc.
I was prescribed statins by my doctor in 1994. After taking them for a couple of months, I had trouble forming my words. I knew what I wanted to say, but the words wouldn't come out of my mouth. Instead, I spoke in jibberish. I stopped taking the statins and I happened to see a video in my chiropractor's office waiting room. The person in the video was talking about some capsules that were all fruits and vegetables. I asked my doctor if they would be good for my granddaughter and he said they would be good for everyone. So I started taking them and after 2 months, I had no more problem speaking.
That is hilarious. I think the author is protecting himself from being sued or being held liable in any sort of way. You should make your own choice like he did. He said he did his research himself and not consult any doctor.
Doctors get a kick back from all of the drug companies so they continue to push drugs. Everyone should be doing their own homework on drugs and make their own decision as to taking them or not. People can go to drugs.com to read side effects etc. Then there are the long term studies that prove the side effects are worse than the benefits of statins. Doctors are not God! Just because they write prescriptions does not mean that people really need them and not all Doctors have all of the facts. The right diet, exercise, etc can lower cholesterol by approximately 50%. God provided us humans with everything that we need to survive when drugs were not in the picture. These companies are raking in trillions of dollars at people’s expense. I suggest when people are handed a prescription, 1 should research it BEFORE getting it filled. Just because your Doctor says you need it does not mean that they are good for you!
I quit statins 8 years ago, after taking them for 10 years. I had an ultra sound on my heart in 2018, a few months after my older brother died of heart attack only to find out that my major arteries around the heart were completely clear. So my high cholesterol hadn't furred up my arteries. I still have high cholesterol at 62 but I will not take statins again. My blood pressure is normal as well like it's always been . I made that decision based on negative reports on the side effects of statins. Good luck what ever you decide
I’ve just quit my statin three days ago. Id only been taking them for 9 months and had gotten such muscle weakness, memory problems, and my A1C rose to 5.7. I am going to try my best to cut carbs and cut out processed foods to keep it in check. I also take prescription Omega-3 to keep my triglycerides down.
I’m 60yrs old & the last year I was for the first time my chol was high. I eat well & never eat fast food or have alcohol. My dr said I have to take statins & pretty soon I started feeling so sick. I have rheumatoid & fibromyalgia & the conditions flared up. I had nausea, my bowels movements were bad, lost my appetite, had severe headaches & etc. I stopped taking them. Remember one thing statins are one of the most prescribed meds in the world & of course it’s the pharmaceutical companies & dr’s who push you to take it, or their line is do you want to die. When so much money is involved the care more about that than our health
An interesting study would be a comparison of those on statins and infected with COVID-19. With the abilities of the mitochondria compromised by the statins, and further diminished by the SARS virus infection, how many survived? How many are dealing with long haul COVID-19 symptoms?
I have just been taken of Lipitor 80mg because I have developed a fatty liver & had a medical episode whereby I passed out 3 days at home. I don’t eat fatty or processed food but because my cholesterol was rising, they kept increasing strength of Lipitor. It’s now week 3 without any cholesterol lowering drugs, will be interesting to see what happens. I have had a kidney transplant so do take lots of other drugs.
I did exactly the same 7 years ago , after a heart attack came off statins and decided to change my life style , eat healthy and exercise every day , so far so good maybe treat myself and have a angiogram in the near future!!
Plz dont do angio, thats also a scam heart is a muscle, not some piping system where things get blocked, its flexsible and adjustable our arteries.blocks are always there.they will put stunt forcibly.watch dr hegre on heart and cholesterol.
Statins caused me all sorts of problems, none of which I have experienced since I stopped taking them. I was prescribed an alternative by the practice nurse and CHolestrol level is now down to acceptable levels. When I saw my own Doctor and he read my notes, he smiled and said the replacement tablets were an old remedy and not prescribed as much these days. Well they work for me and he was happy to keep me on them.
I have often heard quoted by doctors themselves that they get very little nutritional education at medical school. Why waste your time with diet when you can prescribe a drug! Generally speaking their wives know more about nutrition than they do.
keep in mind everybody is different, i know of a person that drank vodka quite often two three times a week. he lived till 81 yrs old , died of heart attack, then another person drank almost every day she died 26 yrs old. bad liver,
Delighted to hear about your experience. Recently had a cholesterol test in a high street chemist and they advised me to contact my GP ASAP as my score was high. Instead I'm going to try to lost the two stone I need to lose and adopt a more healthy diet. If that does not have positive results and the score remains high then I may go to my GP as both my siblings have high cholesterol too
Doctors are brainwashed . I've always had high cholesterol since my thirties . I'm now 57 and my GP wants to put me on low dose statin. I lowered my cholesterol on keto but couldn't keep it up . I know with me it's sugar. Thing is my GP said I'd need regular blood test on liver as stations can damage it . Is it worth it ?
I wonder if your BP was higher due to your not having eaten? If you fasted and are hungry, it could be that your BP was elevated due to the stress of being hungry? From what I learned tonight from a doctor, elevated blood pressure is not the problem but a SYMPTOM of a problem or it could be situation-related such as (I assume) elevated stress. The doc I listened to said that our BP fluctuates all the time, depending on our activity. Even fear can affect it.
Hello I was placed on a statin after a stroke in 2009. I really didn’t have high cholesterol it was always at a good level on the scale. During testing they found I had a PFO. Tiny hole upper chamber of heart. A large percentage of people have this but really don’t know. I would like to stop taking the statin. Excellent video Hope all is well. Joe from US.
I stopped my Statins 4 weeks ago and have noticed my depression and paranoia have left plus the pains in both legs 2" below the knees have gone. You take these toxic drugs at your peril !!
@Citizenthirteen I suffered with a persistent cough muscle pains, lack of energy and sore hands and feet. Stopped taking statins and guess what, all the symptoms magically disappeared!
But that’s hardly a scientific test. You believed they were causing problems, and you believed going off them would “cure” you. Not surprising that it did. The mind is a powerful thing, and anxiety can mimic almost any illness.
I had a lot of pain and heart problems 6 years ago, after falling down the stairs at home. I had had high blood pressure with medication, having been eating too much sugar for at least 30 years, and quite likely I got a stroke due to the injections and Sirdalud medication, which were given for treating my back pain right after the accident. The main veins of my heart looked alrigt, but some of the smaller veins were 25-90% blocked. I could just walk slowly, but I started little by little to make longer walks. And, I was prescribed statins in addition to the other medication. After having used statins for some time, I felt miserable. I got all kinds of muscle pain here and there. It was difficult to stand up in the morning. And, at nights I was afraid of dying. In the morning my heart was beating like crazy, if I accidentally streched me just a little while waking up. My doctor did not believe that my heart rate was 400 times a minute for a short period of time (20 secods or so), but he did let me cut down the statins into half that did remove both the fear and crazy beat, but all the muscle and bone pain was still there. Then, after a few years with miserable nights, I decided to get rid of statins. Right away, I started feeling better. But, the best started happening just two months ago, when I found Dr. Eric Berg's, Dr. Sten Ekberg's, Dr. Jason Fung's, Dr. Dwight Lundell's, Dr. Stephen Pinney's, Dr. Mary Vernon's, Dr. Eric C. Westman's and Dr. Peter Brukner's UA-cam videos about the Keto diet! During the previous years I used to think that I shall never see a happy day again without pain. But, now I do feel great, I have noticeably lost weight, AND, there is no pain! I am so thankful for all those good people, who have given me information about the Keto life style and intermediate fasting! Everybody should try it. And, I mean everybody! ... Even people with diabetes, arthritis, high blood pressure etc. as well as any other person wishing to live a healthy life. It is truly the easiest way to get slim, too.

I had already decided to quit mine before I saw this video. I was questioning my doctor's advice of putting me on a statin because my total cholestoral is good, my bad cholestoral is low, but my good cholestoral is low as well.
I'd quit taking it too! I probably would have said no in the first place simply because I thought they weren't supposed to use a statin unless the 'bad' cholesterol was high.
2016, june, I stopped my statins. My cholesterol wasn't very high,215,225, but I had severe muscle pain in both hamstrings. Within 2 weeks, muscle pain was barely noticeable. November 2016, one week before thanksgiving, I got sharp pain in my left calf. Went to emergency room, shortness of breath also, discovered blood clots in left calf, also one in each lung. Read a story on web md about a cardiologist at a teaching college, had a few of his patients that stopped taking their statins, they developed the same blood clots as I did. We were all taking pravastatin, generic for pravachol. I have started back on rosuvastatin, low dose 5mg. Also I now take co q10. Last cholesterol reading was 165.
My sister was a once a day pill atorvastatin taker for 2 years. No more. It wasn't worth the pains in her leg joints to the point of using a cain. She still walks a little slow but without a cain. And the pain has slowly ended.
Well done for taking personal responsibility for your own health. Unfortunately the medical professionals and "experts" are only ever told about the positive effects of drugs and the damaging effects are left out of the conversation. Most of the drug research is funded by the manufacturers, so there is a huge conflict of interests. Just goes to show that you have to be your own doctor these days as you need to hear ALL of the research to have true informed consent. Same with Vaccines. Once you have all the facts you can quite easily make the right decision, which is usually the opposite of what your doctor would advise you.
The "bad guy" now seems to be sugar, not fat.I recommend watching "That Sugar Film" by filmmaker Damon Gameau, it contains an animation showing how the body principally burns Glucose sugar and fat as it's fuel and how insulin deals with the excess "other sugars" like Fructose and the damage done by converting these excess sugars into body fat. A diet high in sugar now seems to be the enemy.
Sugar, and the refined carbohydrates that spike your blood sugar. It isn't just what you can identify as sugar. Check out "Low Carb Down Under" for the most comprehensive information.
I'm in the same boat. Age 58, high cholesterol, many years on and off statins. After being fed up with the side effects, I stopped taking them, and will never take them again!!! I had my calcium scan and my score was 1 (excellent) !!! Will check again in a few years.
@@chuckayers3775 - For some, statins actually elevate triglycerides. Best way to reduce triglycerides is to go on a low carb high fat or a Paleo diet, or some combination that makes you feel great. I had high cholesterol, on a few MOTs recently. I'm 61. I was told by the doctor (actually the receptionist! 😡) that they were considering "putting me on Statins." I came off statins in July 2018, after going to doctor and asking if I needed to be on them after 8 or 9 years. She checked my cholesterol , cant remember what it was, but it was ok to come off statins for a 6 month trial. I went back February 2019, cholesterol was 4.5 and doctor pleased. Also, b/p was very good. I was originally prescribed Simvastatin as my cholesterol was 7.5. I had no discomfort or pain when on them. My number is 300 now and my Dr is upset that I don't wanna take them. I don't have high blood pressure or anything else. But I'm so paranoid I'll have a heart attack. Ugh....
Had a mild stroke 4 months ago. They gave me asa 80 mg. High blood pressure pills. I’ve been bed ridden since then. Gave both pills up it’s been 1 week I’m up again I can function. Will take my chances whatever happens happens! But at least I’m not bedridden!!!!
Gave up the 80 mg max daily dose of Lipitor statin 5 years ago and the best thing I ever did. BTW had a heart attack 12 years ago and my cholesterol is steadily falling with every 6 month blood test I take. Don't underestimate the serious side effects of statins. My only regret is that I didn't give up sooner.
Drug companies tell doctors that statins reduce heart attacks by 36 percent based on a study published in the 2008 European Heart Journal. Patients receiving statins reduced their chance of having a heart attack by 3.1 percent, but the patients receiving a placebo only reduced their heart attacks by 2.0 Percent. The difference between 2.0 and 3.1 is 36 percent but the actual reduction is only 1.1 percent.
Proof not only that Pfizer was prepared to misrepresent the data, but that the doctors receiving the information couldn't distinguish between absolute risk and relative risk. Apparently, none of them! Amazing but true. Don't take statins. Work on reducing arterial inflammation instead.
I was struggling with many pains and symptoms, lost 35 lbs without trying so I spoke to my GP and as she said I could give them up if I so chose-I did. No more cramps but then she didn't even take a blood test to check all the symptoms (Rhabdomyolysis?). She did not even mention that in her notes. 17% kidney function left.
There are studies that show people with high cholesterol live longer. The goal should be to have your HDL at that three to one ratio to your total cholesterol no matter what the numbers are . For example if your total is 150 your HDL should be 50. Decrease grains and sugars and have more fish oil
I stopped taking statins about a month ago. The results have been eye opening. At the time I quit I was suffering intolerable and persistent arm and shoulder pain, weakness and restricted range of motion. I was diagnosed with osteo-arthriris years ago and suspected my symptoms were evidence of its progression. Within a few days of kicking my statin habit all my symptoms went into remission, my strength and flexibilty now restored to near normal. I'm wondering if anyone knows of any research done on the performance of generic statins vs original patented brands, especially those manufactured in India. Glad to know there's a growing community of recovering statinistas. Happy to be feeling like a younger version of myself.
Hi Jack; For you, statins were a poison. You seem to have found a cure - no more medicine! My belief is that modern living screws us up & we need meds to fix us. Instead, maybe we should take a longer look at our diets & life styles - maybe we really need to rethink what we are putting into our bodies.
I'm on a all organic Keto diet and consuming healthy fat and oils. I had my Lipid levels checked, and they are all in great order. My CA scan came back with a 0. It is the diet that will save you and not the Doctor.
My doctor want to put me on statins because my level is 6.4 and, because I 65, his little NHS spreadsheet tool tells him I should take statins, also, because my father died of a heart attack at 59 my risk level was higher. His NHS tool ignores the fact I exercise strenuously every day, my resting heart rate is between 40-50BPM and I take after my mother's side of the family and she is 90 and her sister is 88. So I declined statins. I was a couch potato then maybe I would not.
I have been researching this since I was prescribed statins last Friday. I won't be taking them. It looks like 1: taking statins just makes it more likely that you will just die of something else, not necessarily live longer, and 2: there is much too much accent on cholesterol levels and not enough on insulin levels. Very few doctors will give you an insulin test even though it is cheap and easy to do. 3: sugar is officially gone from my diet and I went for my first run in 20 years today. I'm 70. 4: the poster seems to be on the Ketogenic diet, which I am looking forward to apart from having to ban potatoes, rice, pasta and bread from my diet.
That's great to read... sounds like you have done some good research, hope you are doing well. I'm expecting you may have taken to the ketogenic diet quite well, but just leaving a comment to remind you that since you're a runner (possible some resistance exercise too), then you may be able to incorporate more carbs than you think, since your glycogen won't be full all the time and you'll be far more insulin sensitive from the exercise. On heavy workouts you could quite easily have some healthy carbs afterwards (1-4 hours after exercising)
This is why I am here. Information . I was recently prescribed statins and am horrified at the side affects they are current sitting on my dresser. I just can’t seem to make myself take them even though my cholesterol is high. ( genetics, I am Italian and it runs in my family) I don’t want a heart attack or stroke, but I don’t want to feel achy or sick from taking these meds. I truly don’t know what to do
I quit Atorvastatin because of the constant leg pain and constipation. I now have persistent tendonitus and irritable bowl. And just take aspirin therapy. I would have liked complete remission of these symptoms but it’s not happening so far, my cholesterol was never bad, it’s apparently standard treatment to take blood thinners and cholesterol lowering meds after a stroke.
Stopped statins seven years ago after taking them for ten years. I was slowly dying. Since then I have lost more than two stones in weight with very little effort, regained energy and optimism and, very importantly, I have regained the capability to learn and retain infirmation. I also changed my diet from high grain and low fat to organic where possible, with high-quality saturated fat, e.g., butter, whole milk. My bread consumption is now very low. I eat smaller meals as my body quickly tells me when I have eaten enough. My blood sugar figure is impeccable but my cholesterol level horrifies my GP but then, who wants to live forever? My aches and pains are much diminished. My age? Let’s just say that I can remember sweet rationing.
I'm 45 and I had terrible feeling after taking statin, my LDL was 198 before taking statin and it is genetic, now is the 4th years of taking statin but lately when I switched to atorvastatin 10mg I started to have many side effects on me, feeling weak, fatigue for no reason, feeling sick and depression. I had been eating healthy, exercise lightly, sleep early, I'm thinking of dropping the statin as I feel that I will ruin my normal life entirely.
My consultant told me to take statins as I had refused to take them as my doctor prescribed, I. will continue to refuse taking them but I know the consultant will not like it, and I'm not looking forward to seeing him
Was on statins and my liver enzymes went through the roof but doctor just changed the type of statin and then I had major muscle pain and severe depression. Then I started developing Parkinson’s like symptoms so I quit taking them it’s been 3 weeks and my muscle pain has left completely and I’m no longer depressed. My father noted the other day that it’s been a long time since he has heard my laughter
The older you get the more cholesterol you need ...i refused statins about 5 years ago ...in 2014 i had a heart attack and was told i needed a quadruple by pass which i refused ....because frankly i felt fine and had no angina ...... i still do work and lift heavy things too ..i also had a mild stroke in 2018 . all i take is a plavix for blood clot prevention and niacin 500 mg so far so good ..you can do well without aches and pains which stains obviously give ,,,plus the brain fog and weakness .
Good for you my man. With you all the way on the that! Anyone with any doubt only needs to understand the difference between relative and absolute risk reduction to appreciate that the statin industry "statistics" are bunkum and that in many cases (not all) statins are a gross waste of money.
If the HDL is high and Triglycerides are low, then the total cholesterol can be higher(not sky high.) If the HDL is low and Triglycerides are high, then a low total cholesterol is not healthy. There are also ratios to consider, easily calculated by some simple divisions.
Giovanni from Philly I was on a statins for 3 weeks for my high cholesterol my Bones were hurting so bad my knee hand's shoulder were sore to the touch I called my doctor to let her know I stopped my statins I should regain my strength and tiredness my cholesterol is 200 I stopped eating cheese and pepperoni and lunch meat today is Thursday my first day of stopping my statins thanks again for your feedback
Bravo! A week after I started statins I did not know the name of my dog I had for five years. Joint aches, muscle aches, trouble sleeping. Stopped the statins and three days later all was fine. Best of luck to all of us!!
No side effects from stopping?
Statins cross the blood-brain barrier.
I quit statins cold turkey. From day 1, I started feeling better. It’s been 4 months and I have more energy, less pain in body, feel better emotionally and overall feeling healthy since 1991. Statins are dangerous!
And Yeah So What the same to me i feel beter
Oatmeal water every day 4 times a day worked for me wonders. Linaza and Chia too. Green apples are great too.
And Yeah So What statins arent dangerous, they just dont suit everyone. You're one if them they dont suit as you had adverse reactions. Others have been enjoying low cholestral with no adverse effects for years. For some they work, for others they dont. The same as any drug.
. Im on statins and can hardly function. Want to quit cold turkey.

Do you have any stent on your artery coronary?
I would like to know more about your diet please.
I am 53 old and I have got a stent for 3 months. Thanks
Good on you mate. I stopped taking statins about 4 months ago, my cardiologist went crazy, so I fired him. Got another cardiologist who has a brain and thinks outside the books. I’m feeling better.
Pleased to hear from you.
A recent study shows that LDL is not a problem. I'm impressed that you figured it out so long ago.
Thank you.
Well done Eric. You swallowed the lie about statins but are now free. Good for you.
Hallelujah 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
It's amazing what doctors will give you without warning what might and often does happen. I'm glad you saw the light. Happy life.
It’s clear, your doctor wanted to kill you .
STAY AWAY FROM FLOUROQUINOLONE ANTIBIOTICS AS WELL ! THEY ARE DEADLY POISON !!!
I don't want to be stigmatized, but from the experience I've had with statins, I'm glad it's getting the negative publicity it deserves.
Statins are evil.
Correct. Cholesterol does not cause heart disease. The medical establishment is promulgating lies and misinformation.
I'm 68 and I've been told my cholesterol is twice what it should be but I've refused medication and I don't intend to take any. I don't consume any carbs so I'm quite content with my health as it is.
I stopped my statins and I feel much better!
Me too! Didn't bother the quack. He would just try to dissuade.

Thank you for sharing your experience.
Dear God!!! 40mg / day!!! Too much!! Find a new doctor!!
Jim Nesta Congratulations on successfully taking control of your health without medications!🎉🎊💪👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Statins have been shown to increase your life...by 1 month!! So not worth the side effects!
Do doctors get incentivised to prescribe statins ?
Freebies, like a holiday to Xanti

@@4evaavfc what if you stop statins, like the doctor from that video?
Thanks

The Pharmaceutical companies thought they would make Billions++ and wanted everyone on them.
As I posted above, in the U.S. statins CAUSE 45,000 cases of diabetes a year. The FDA required a warning label in the written info with the package. Statins can make diabetes worse. In Great Britain, I would have to look up the number but it would be comparable.

catherine birch True, my mum always had low chol but died from heart attack!
Cholesterol is now being suggested to be protective, esp for women over 60. If HDL is high and trigs are low and HBA1c is low, LDL and total appear to be irrelevant. Makes me wonder what's in it for the doctors. They never harp on patients not taking other things like they do on statins.
Those of you that are worried enough about your ldl levels to take statins need to read a little about the hdl to triglyceride ratio. Mine is usually around a 1 to 1 ratio and I quit taking statins 4 years ago. Do yourself a favor and check it out.
Its not trygly...its total cholesterol divided by hdl...< 5:1 ratio is preferable, >6.5 is high and needs utmost check in lifestyle.

@@nadasimich1267And they literally blame you for health issues for not taking their drugs.
How are you doing now?

He has to say that so that if someone dies he doesn't get sued.
A friendly doctor who shares his medical secrets with the public. Well done !
Good for you!! Quite brave of you. Best wishes!
You need to eat that “fatty” food! Preferably fatty meat and lots of butter.
Thanks for the info. I appreciate this video. Please consider doing informative videos with less background noise for all of us older folks 👍🏻👍🏻
You did so much for us sir.

What was the substitute for the statin that you switched to?
Tell us the substitute buddy please
Please...what is the substitute??? I really need to know!
I'd like to know the replacement as well!
Please what is the substitute called 🙏
I’d heard that Doctors learn zero about diet in their medical training, for me you just confirmed there could be some truth to that claim.
I have often heard quoted by doctors themselves that they get very little nutritional education at medical school. Why waste your time with diet when you can prescribe a drug! Generally speaking their wives know more about nutrition than they do.
Margaret Borowski Thank you for this comment.
keep in mind everybody is different, i know of a person that drank vodka quite often two three times a week. he lived till 81 yrs old , died of heart attack, then another person drank almost every day she died 26 yrs old. bad liver,
Delighted to hear about your experience. Recently had a cholesterol test in a high street chemist and they advised me to contact my GP ASAP as my score was high. Instead I'm going to try to lost the two stone I need to lose and adopt a more healthy diet.
If that does not have positive results and the score remains high then I may go to my GP as both my siblings have high cholesterol too
I got a very similar experience like yours ,I'm very happy with no statins
Thank you for your feedback
I am happy he had a good result after stopping his statin.
Me too
Statin nearly killed me, it affected my liver. I stopped taking nearly two years now, I’m feeling great again.
I have stopped taking Statin more than 4 years ago. I have been feeling great.
Cholesterol is so important to your body, that your body makes it.
My blood sugar went up from 5.2 to 6.3 in a year of statins. No statins & my blood sugar is back down to 5.2. My doctor agreed with my decision.
same with me. By the time I stopped the statin I was pre diabetic. Not anymore.
Great video, calling out the racket that is "modern medicine",... As they say in the old trade, "a patient cured,.. is a customer lost" 🤷🏽♂️👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👌🏿
I stopped my Statins 4 weeks ago and have noticed my depression and paranoia
have left plus the pains in both legs 2" below the knees have gone. You take these
toxic drugs at your peril !!
@Citizenthirteen I suffered with a persistent cough muscle pains, lack of energy and sore hands and feet. Stopped taking statins and guess what, all the symptoms magically disappeared!
@Citizenthirteen which statin Rosuvastatin...
Hello TT
I am 53 old, and I have got a stent on my artery coronary 3 months ago, and I refused the statins and aspirin from beginning.
But I don’t know exactly what I have to eat like diet.
Please advise me if you want.
God will reward you
Thanks
Dr ken berry is awesome and loves the keto diet. He really helped me. Cheers mate
@@gabriel65304 Stay away from simple sugars. Increase your vegetable intake, try to fill every plate w/50% veggies. Eat fish often. 🙏
The most important lipid markers are TG and HDL and not the LDL. Lowering your carb intake and regular exercise will lower TG and raise HDL.
Agreed
I hope you're doing well.
My doctor keeps trying me to take a statin because my tryglicerides are 286 I won't do it heart dieseae runs in my family
@@chuckayers3775 - For some, statins actually elevate triglycerides. Best way to reduce triglycerides is to go on a low carb high fat or a Paleo diet, or some combination that makes you feel great. Once you reduce your trigs below 100 and elevate your HDL above 55, your LDL levels become immaterial.
Do you have any stent or heart disease?
Thanks
Coronary angiogram...sounds like a good test to have occasionally then.
Ditto. I had high cholestrol (not fat). I've stopped worrying about it now. I just keep fit and eat good food. No problems. Am 78 years old.
I had high cholesterol, on a few MOTs recently. I'm 61.
I was told by the doctor (actually the receptionist! 😡) that they were considering "putting me on Statins."
Weirdly, during the first Lockdown, I started walking every day for 30 minutes+ and have since had it tested 2x and they didn't even mention it.
So, I phoned up and asked about it and they said that all my tests were within the "normal" range. I've made zero changes to my diet, so I can only put it down to the walking.
I have no intentions of being "put on Statins."
Thanks for sharing!
How high if you dont mind me asking
Dr said to me yesterday you need to take STATIN just the usual side effects he said...you will gave a bit of muscle ache and joint ache and a bit forgetful but it's still okay to take...I just very kindly Said ...NO THANK YOU...HE tried to argue but he didn't win
They are doing what they are told and want you to come back.
I came off statins in July 2018, after going to doctor and asking if I needed to be on them after 8 or 9 years.
A friend who is on Avostatin asked me if I'd noticed anything different since coming off statins. "Yes" I replied. I'm sure my brain immediately became less foggy, and short term memory improved.
.
@@roflized I recently was diagnosed with high cholesterol and was prescribed statin and stopped taking them without my doctor knowledge or advice!! I feel weak and tired. Do you think I made the right decision?
@@Rahhva._ My doctor is desperately trying to put on a statin and I will not have it any cost. She gave me my results. They're extremely high. My LDL is 12.4 and I think it's because of the amount of cream I put in my coffee daily, I can ease my diet but I will not back down from my doctor. The body knows what it's doing, It doesn't make cholesterol for nothing, it has it's reasons. You made the right decision.
Yes I began to have Swellin in my calfs achs & Pains in my Shoulders & occasionally Cramps,so is this Meds making us well or new unforeseen sickness'weres the breakin point,
I took statin for a week and later my foot cramped while sleeping at 5-6 am and it forced ne to wake up. I drop statin n thereafter ok.

Thanks for the video. I'm loosing sleep trying to decide if I want to take them or not. I've had high cholesterol since I was young. My dad did too. Apparently it's heredity.
@@angelareminiscenza6233 be your os. Doctor
Exactly. It's a Statistics manipulation. And the jury is out.
www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4513492/
Yeah, and what do the statins do to the vast majority medicated to no effect?
Yes, it is an inappropriate use of relative risk which distorts the truth.
Like you said, the absolute benefits is hardly difference between 2 groups.
You doing right thing ,good zero carb breakfast too !!
I like this guy's breakfast approach to mitigate the risk of heart attacks.Eggs, sausage, ham, grease. Sign me up!
You're in!
I took Lipitor for ten years but stopped five years ago and don't bother with doctors and feel much better at age 69.
Hello dear does it have any side affect after qutting them ? Because i heard people getting strokes after qutting statins suddenly?
Hi Jack;
For you, statins were a poison.
Thank you for commenting
CA scan....Calcium scan?
Hi Peter
Do you have any stent on your artery coronary?
Thanks
My doctor want to put me on statins because my level is 6.4 and, because I 65, his little NHS spreadsheet tool tells him I should take statins, also, because my father died of a heart attack at 59 my risk level was higher. His NHS tool ignores the fact I exercise strenuously every day, my resting heart rate is between 40-50BPM and I take after my mother's side of the family and she is 90 and her sister is 88.
So I declined statins. I was a couch potato then maybe I would not.
Thank you for sharing your experience
👍 Good for you, we know our own bodies.
I have been researching this since I was prescribed statins last Friday. I won't be taking them. It looks like
1: taking statins just makes it more likely that you will just die of something else, not necessarily live longer, and
2: there is much too much accent on cholesterol levels and not enough on insulin levels.
On heavy workouts you could quite easily have some healthy carbs afterwards (1-4 hours after exercising)
davu cooked you are on the right path! Healthy Keto improves every aspect of your life .
Thank you for sharing
Thank you for sharing your experience.
Wow. Good for you. Just got my mom off statins. She is 84. Just talking to her I’ve noticed a difference!
My consultant told me to take statins as I had refused to take them as my doctor prescribed, I. will continue to refuse taking them but I know the consultant will not like it, and I'm not looking forward to seeing him
beryl bishop Then don’t see him.
I would change doctors if I were you.
The older you get the more cholesterol you need ...i refused statins about 5 years ago ...in 2014 i had a heart attack and was told i needed a quadruple
by pass which i refused ....because frankly i felt fine and had no angina ...... i still do work and lift heavy things too ..i also had
a mild stroke in 2018 . all i take is a plavix for blood clot prevention and niacin 500 mg so far so good ..you can do well without aches and pains which
stains obviously give ,,,plus the brain fog and weakness .
my dad has been taking statins from 2017 and got diagnosed with ALS in 2020, and passed away this year
High cholesterol isn't the culprit. High blood glucose is.
No Kevin, INFLAMMATION is!
Good for you my man. With you all the way on the that! Anyone with any doubt only needs to understand the difference between relative and absolute risk reduction to appreciate that the statin industry "statistics" are bunkum and that in many cases (not all) statins are a gross waste of money.
“To treat it, I’ve decided to adopt a healthy lifestyle.” Sadly for many this is to radical for them to do.
If the HDL is high and Triglycerides are low, then the total cholesterol can be higher(not sky high.)
If the HDL is low and Triglycerides are high, then a low total cholesterol is not healthy.
There are also ratios to consider, easily calculated by some simple divisions.
Breakfast looks good, my only thoughts is what oil did they cook in. Butter or olive oil is better than most.
And Lard is good too.
