This whole conversation is exhausting to me. The victimhood of the Israel-sympathizers is insane when we're comparing David to Goliath: Israel receives billions of dollars in military aid from the U.S government. The Palestinians have nothing. The devastation between both sides is incomparable. Ariel admitting to partying on the beach when people are being murdered in an open air prison mere miles away says it all.

Martial law. Even In the u.s you throw a rock at a lapd officer. You will get thrown in jail for attempted assault do a peace officer. 6months to 1 year in jail for a first time offense.
Because it is terrorism, there have been numerous soldiers/civilians who have died by being struck by these rocks in the head. It’s easy to talk about it out of context but very complicated when you see the result of some of the blunt force trauma a “nonviolent” item like a rock can do to a person.

as much as it’s interesting to see regular people having this discourse, i think having actual historians and people with first hand experience would’ve made the discussion so much more educational, there wasn’t any fact checking in this which i feel it’s crucial for a conversation of this matter.
As others have mentioned if you want more of the same you have plenty of options and have come to the wrong place. Everyone here who’s directly affected deserves a voice, even moreso than the same redundant “historians” all over UA-cam have have zero experience in this nor are actually affected by it. You guys gotta have a moderator for these conversations, you also gotta have people who are experts in statistics and verifiable facts in these conversations instead of just those who come from personal trauma
These conversations between average everyday citizens from each sides of a debate is important to have without experts, professionals, etc bc it is a mirror reflection of everyday discourse of their lived experiences. Watching these Middle Ground series gives great perspectives of everyday people in the absence of experts
Jubilee you need to fact check what people say in the videos just like you do with every other middle ground video. Objective truth can be found here even if it proves someone wrong.
As soon as they begin to do that, people on either side of the issue will immediately see bias. Fact checking isn’t as easy as just saying “true” or “false”
We have that, the thing is that more or less only academics watch it. People don't actually want that. You want your ideas to be validated by someone better at manipulating the audience than these guys.
Sorry but it's still so absurd to me that none of the Israelis were willing to admit Israel's continual occupation and oppression of Palestine. Gus is absolutely correct in saying that this conflict doesn't end until the occupation ends but if the other side can't even admit that occupation exists then there's still a long way to go to finding a resolution.
The thing is that, like Shaani said, there have been so many peace plans offered and yet they were all rejected. The only reason that displacement occurred was that there was a war and the Palestinians lost. Jubilee has the potential to be a really great channel, but their debates are always incredibly hard to follow because they DO NOT MODERATE!!! If they had a moderator who was capable of actually doing the job these videos would be so much better. People screaming over each other is not a debate. It’s a grating shouting match. Edit to clarify: Many people have been commenting that they don’t want a moderator because they want everyone to have the chance to speak - I agree. That’s exactly WHY you need a moderator, whether it’s a proper debate or simply a heated discussion. I want everyone to have an equal opportunity to talk and not have to constantly say “Can you please stop interrupting me?” “Can I please finish my statement?” “Can I please answer the actual prompt?” They shouldn’t have to fight to speak. A moderator isn’t there to censor, (when done correctly) they’re there to ensure that everyone on the panel has an equal opportunity to speak.
Also they clip so many conversations down to the most basic statements. It’s not even interesting sometimes bc it’s clear they edit out the actual debate parts of some questions. They should release unedited footage.
@@Justin-yt7piNo it’s not. Debate SHOULD be about analyzing the facts (they also URGENTLY need a fact checker) and critically assessing the opinions expressed, without people talking past or yelling angrily at each other. War is the last thing everyone needs.
the topics/talking points seem so vague and are just blankstatements instead of statements that can be debated. "i have lost someone in war" these just seem like agreeable statements. of course both israel and palestine supporters have lost people, how is that a talking point? what can be debated? these topics aren't even starting the conversations that could potentially lead to a middle ground. seems like we are purposely avoiding the harsh conversations for feelings sake. if we want each side to truly attempt to understand each other we have to push boundaries and stop being scared to debate.
They clearly moderate and edit out the moderation. They do this on purpose to have the effect of humans sitting around a dinner table and being able to talk.
The direct question that I did not hear: “What would each side do to heal the other side? “.(Solutions) It’s also interesting that Biblical brothers Ismael and Issac were mentioned. Abraham their father gave them both separate lands because he knew they would be at odds. Separate but equal nations.

While this discussion was very interesting and complex, the moderation of this debate was nonexistent. I was genuinely confused with everyone speaking at the same time during certain prompts.
I think that they didn’t moderate so as not to, whether consciously or subconsciously, indicate a bias. Any moderation would have taken away from the free-flowing exchange and made it seem as if the media outlet had a specific perspective.

Ariel was completely wrong about his comment on Palestinians standing a fair trial. Palestinians of the occupied West Bank, are not citizens of Israel. Thus in Zone B, or Zone C, where the Israeli military has legal and de facto military control, when the military arrests Palestinian Arabs they are arrested and treated like military subjects. And thus not awarded the same legal rights as an Israeli citizen, who would be arrested in Israel. It is estimated that there are over 1200 Palestinians, who are held in Israeli prisons without trial.
Hes an insane person for saying that. At least she was like "that is the rule of the land but maybe not the reality". Palestinians constantly protest this. Families speak to outlets all the time about their loved ones being taken away.
I have some facts below, and have cited sources, although it is up to you if you want to believe them: “500-700 children are detained by Israeli Forces every year. Around 13,000 have been arbitrarily detained, interrogated, tried in military courts and imprisoned since 2000, with thousands detained before this date.” Source: Defence for Children International - Palestine. “Research by ‘Save the Children’ found that Palestinian minors in Israeli detention endured physical, emotional and s*xual abuse. These children were often arrested at night and blindfolded with their hands and feet tied. 86% said they had been beaten, 69% said they had been strip-searched. Children reported being interrogated at unknown locations without a lawyer or parent present.” Source: Save the Children. “Israel allows minors to be prosecuted in military courts, which may accept confessions obtained by coercion or torture. 500-700 children are tried in military courts in Israel every year, the most common charge is stone-throwing, which can a prison sentence of up to 20 years.” Source: Defence for Children International - Palestine.
To maintain some of the autonomy, Palestinians have their own legal system that handles all crimes that are not security-related. For security-related crimes, Palestinians are trailed by a legal entity under the Israeli military. If you judge Palestinians in Israel's normal justice system, this is de facto annexation of the West Bank. I'm pretty sure you wouldn't want Israel to annex the Occupied Territories? This is not done to hurt Palestinians, and being trailed in military court doesn't mean you get an unfair trial. This is simply done to avoid annexation.
as someone with family in Ukraine, I 100% agree that it hits differently when it's your family at risk. when you have no stake in a war, it's easy to sympathize with one side or the other, or both even, but when it's your family it's different. when it's your little brother in a trench, when it's your cousin's mangled remains being recovered from their bombed apartment, or your little cousin's body which was recovered in a mass grave. it absolutely hits differently. it becomes near impossible to see the other side as human, let alone have sympathy for their lost loved one's, if it wasn't for Russians I knew in collage and HS who were genuinely amazing people. I don't think I'd be able to separate every day Russians from the Russian state in my head.
I would also want to see Non-Israeli and Non-Palestinian people to talk about same topic in order to see the effect of media. Also thank you all for sharing your personal experiences it really helped empathizing with all of you.
That is exactly what all of them were agreeing we DO NOT need! There are already too many non jews, non Palestinians, people who have no stake in this, people who have no education in this, giving their two cents. It is not needed.
This already happens in media and there is a lot of it. You have jordan peterson, Owen Jones, Peirs morgan ironically with all the UA-camrs reacting to his interview clips, and many more examples.
I'm so glad Jubilee released another video on this. The biggest takeaway I have from this video is that empathy/compassion should be at the forefront, and that education is power. I'm going to be doing a lot more independent research and critical thinking about this situation because I have to take ownership of my education.
I completely agree with you. I feel that alot of the information being spread is one sided, so you can't fully take a standpoint if what you are taking in is already provided in a state of bias. I will definitley have to do more research to fully be able to undestand the situation at hand. But even so I believe I could not take one side because both have their reasons, as shown in the video, both sides feel wronged so we cannot deny those feelings. Hopefully this situation gets better. best wishes to both sides.

I agree, they shouldn't be allowed to speak over each other either, it's a blatant lack of respect. Ariel repeatedly interrupted everyone else, even when he didn't really have anything to add to the conversation other than 'I don't believe that'. If I was organizing debates like these I wouldn't allow people to interrupt each other from either side, maybe there's one microphone, and each person takes turns, perhaps politely raise their hand to speak next if they have something else to add. How is she saying Israel doesn't control the water situation, when their government itself openly state how they shut it off? The PWA (Not PAW as she said), only provides 6% of the water in Gaza as far as I can see when I search it up. And the PWA buys it from Israel, so that is not in any way an argument to suggest Israel doesn't control the water supply to Gaza. The main thing PWA does is allocating the water that is already in Gaza, they don't control how much is able to get into Gaza. THAT is what Israel controls
Many sources any be in Hebrew (for Israeli sources) or Arabic and that may be a reason you can’t find more information on it and the speaker in the video was able to find more information.
Aybe ask yourself why dont they have water in first place? How do they have missiles, weapons, tons of tunnels and money for all the above, but not basic infrastructure? They want israel to help? Then ok they help. But its not their responsibility especially not in war
@@GadiBar They have missiles because they smuggle them in and/or built them in Gaza. They probably have smuggled some food and water into Gaza, however Israel controls the entire strip. Every money that comes officially to Gaza, has first to go through Israel. Every food that comes to or out of Gaza has to be approved by Israel. Egypt also follows Israel commands. Even crazier before oct 7th, Israel had controlled the calorie intake for the population and limits entry of imports to below average needs for humans. Obviously Gaza also provides some of the food for their people, but generally they have to rely on Israel, because they control their every border. As an occuppying force, they are also obliged to keep the occupied party nourished or else it again is considered a war crime under international law. They obviously can lift the almost 20yr siege of Gaza and let them get food and water from other sources. Also did you know that Israel steals the water from the west bank and sells a limited amount back to them? Israelis have approx. 4 times the amount of water than the people in the west bank.
Gaza receives the most aid out of anywhere in the world. They get hundreds of millions of dollars every year. Where is the water infrastructure, where did the money go?
I know this discussion is about how the two sides see and experience the situation, but I still think it would have been important to have a fact checker go over many statements. His stance is perfectly understandable in the sense that he was the one who had most personal stakes in the conflict (he was there during the attack and lost friends which is pretty traumatic). The trauma doesn't really allow objective viewpoint.

Actually, Palestinians in the West Bank are not granted the same judicial rights and processes as Israeli citizens. Palestinians can be held in administrative detention in Israeli prisons for years without trial, because they are under martial law. Israeli citizens, on the other hand, are under civil law, and would never be held in administrative detention for years without trial. The Israelis in this video don't know the facts, which have been documented by many human rights organizations and even described clearly in Israeli government documents.
This conversation becomes disingenuous when one side or the other is not willing to acknowledge the atrocities committed by their government, allies ore people. It is sickening, stressful and completely dishonest.

Here’s what I found regarding the water situation. True, that Gaza had a water supply issue before. However…now it is no more than 5% of the usual production (source: PBS/Unicef), causing people to survive on only 1.5-2 liters a day (Unicef). So Swanni’s claim that Israel did not cause the water shortage is just….manipulative. Why? Here are the facts (PBS/Unicef). First of all, Israel controls THREE pipelines to Gaza (13%). Second, Israel has blocked cement from Gaza to build the treatment plants. Third, these plants have now been damaged by the bombs. Fourth, the existing desalinization plants cannot be turned on because ISRAEL HAS BLOCKED THE FUEL TO TURN THEM ON (NPR). So yes, the water shortage is Israel’s fault. Swanni demonstrated herself how Palestinian suffering is being downplayed.
I think you missed the point, almost everything you just said is accounted for by what she said. They CAN'T build pipes or send fuel because hamas then just uses that for rockets.
So, the whole time Palestine was self governing and getting aide and funding they couldn't figure out how to get water for their people? They figured out how to arm their militias... Why would a country send supplies to their enemies? And I don't mean the people of Palestine, I mean the non conventional military that can easily pretend to be non combatants and divert said supplies into their own war effort? Counter intuitive. If Gaza has no water, it's their governments fault for not building the infrastructure when they were getting the resources to do so. This really does suck, I hate to see so many people suffer, but you can't put all the blame solely on Israel.
The water would be plentiful, if they had not started a war. Palestinians expecting all the supermarkets to be full and the taps to be working, and the power on during an invasion are delusional.

This video was full of bios.
Hes an insane person for saying that. At least she was like "that is the rule of the land but maybe not the reality". Palestinians constantly protest this. Families speak to outlets all the time about their loved ones being taken away.
could you give me your source for the last your last statement
I have some facts below, and have cited sources, although it is up to you if you want to believe them:
“500-700 children are detained by Israeli Forces every year. Around 13,000 have been arbitrarily detained, interrogated, tried in military courts and imprisoned since 2000, with thousands detained before this date.”
Source: Defence for Children International - Palestine.
“Research by ‘Save the Children’ found that Palestinian minors in Israeli detention endured physical, emotional and s*xual abuse. These children were often arrested at night and blindfolded with their hands and feet tied. 86% said they had been beaten, 69% said they had been strip-searched. Children reported being interrogated at unknown locations without a lawyer or parent present.”
Source: Save the Children.
“Israel allows minors to be prosecuted in military courts, which may accept confessions obtained by coercion or torture.
500-700 children are tried in military courts in Israel every year, the most common charge is stone-throwing, which can a prison sentence of up to 20 years.”
Source: Defence for Children International - Palestine.

Usually I’m expecting a mess but this is not the mess I want to see
and somehow this was the most mature conversation that has taken place from the other ones i did watch out of interest
as someone with family in Ukraine, I 100% agree that it hits differently when it's your family at risk. when you have no stake in a war, it's easy to sympathize with one side or the other, or both even, but when it's your family it's different. when it's your little brother in a trench, when it's your cousin's mangled remains being recovered from their bombed apartment, or your little cousin's body which was recovered in a mass grave. it absolutely hits differently. it becomes near impossible to see the other side as human, let alone have sympathy for their lost loved one's, if it wasn't for Russians I knew in collage and HS who were genuinely amazing people. I don't think I'd be able to separate every day Russians from the Russian state in my head.
I think it would’ve been better to bring actual Israelis and Palestinians together for this debate. Americans can’t really speak for either side.

@@GadiBar They have missiles because they smuggle them in and/or built them in Gaza. They probably have smuggled some food and water into Gaza, however Israel controls the entire strip.

Well this is true of many, many countries. Why are the Palestinians somehow unique from Afghanis or North Koreans or any other isolated population?
lmao you should look up how many jews were expelled from the swana region bruh
@@tofuwiener For real! 50% of Israel's population are migrants from the middle easy post 1948 - BECAUSE of Arab/Muslim hatred of Jews.
@@benb6527did anyone say they were unique? Where was the word unique used?
@@tofuwienerpeople like to ignore this fact. Also that the war was started by the Palestinians who refused to acknowledge the rights of the Jewish people.
I would’ve loved to see a prompt regarding the leadership of respective sides and if they feel that the Hamas/Palestinian Authority or Israel’s Likud Govt. have failed the people they’re supposed to represent and why.
So true. Technically the Israeli government was democratically voted in, while Hamas hasn’t held an election in years- since before the majority of the country was born, so it can’t be representative of the people
Or about the illegal settlements
I think that question may have been an especially dangerous one to answer. Perhaps that is why they chose not to.

Yea I was shocked they said that never happened and that due trial is always a constant in israel.
Not in the West Bank. The West Bank is subject to military courts which are known for arbitrary detainment and no trials.
This is one of the reasons Palestinian advocates call it “apartheid” I avoid this term bc it is loaded and often muddies the grounds of the conversation, however it is relevant in terms of the court system, segregation, education, and voting rights!
@@JeferonConor There's definitely malpractice in certain areas, but the Israeli law categorically states that everyone is entitled to a free and fair trial as a fundamental principle

The average age in Palestine is 18. There is barely any older generation.
@@ShowMeYourHoovesWhat about in the United States? The group in this discussion do not live in Israel or Palestine full time.
While Jews in Israel have faced significant challenges, the Palestinians have endured decades of severe hardship and oppression in their own homeland. It was Israelis who made Israel prosperous. What Israel got majorly was a chunk of dry land. Shame on you for lying.
This episode was a lot. Hearing all their stories was very powerful and makes me want to get more informed about this topic. It truly makes me recognize my privilege. I wish both sides are allowed to speak with less tension. I understand opposing sides and perspectives but it felt as though opinions/thoughts were immediately shut down

I really wish they would have not spoken over each other so much. I’m someone who really wanted to hear both sides of this argument stand up against each other and it’s frustrating not being able to hear both sides clearly. It would’ve been great if the moderators stepped in and addressed that.
As a person who has no dog in this fight, and is just here to learn, I found this conversation extremely enlightening and I think they did a great job at finding a middle ground. I wish the governments that control what happens to these ppl can do the same thing.
I LOVE how they made this video longer since it can't be summed up in a 20-minute video with 7 different topics I also love how they are bringing attention to what's happening while remaining unbiased and just letting the guests talk. I also love how you can feel the passion of the pro Palestine. I just love hearing them talk. I also enjoy reading the comments and hearing everyone's thoughts!
It’s a longer video but their videos are normally 40minutes
Aw thank you! & I agree, I was concerned they would shorten too much. They definitely cut a lot. But kept it long. Welcome to the pro-Palestine/love team!
@@Jorge-vw4ub deflect and deny again? how about accountability??? but you rather live in your racist delusion...
The water would be plentiful, if they had not started a war. Palestinians expecting all the supermarkets to be full and the taps to be working, and the power on during an invasion are delusional.
