- Welcome to Produce At Home, my new channel for all things Audio related.
Not just one of my favourite Clint Eastwood Films of all time but one of my all time favourite Films period. The Good, The Bad And The Ugly and the Music Score in it are perfect together, well I consider the Music Score and Film to be a Masterpiece. Unbelievable to think that it could be recreated live on stage but the Danish National Symphony Orchestra, the Danish National Concert Choir and Christine Nonbo Andersen have absolutely nailed it here...

Towards the end when the when all instruments are at their peak, Christine Nonbo Andersen's voice rides the crest of a magnificent wave of beautiful sound. I get goose bumps every single time.
And tears…
She is powerful and precise. Lovely lady.
end was awesome❤
Same here! Her voice makes my eyes water at her big part towards the end. I don't think I've ever had that happen before.
The Oboe. My God, the Oboe.
There are few pieces that put the Oboe so forward and distinct. Every instrument in 'Ecstasy of Gold' is very deliberate and focused by Morricone's design. It's not thoughtful or reflective like so many classical pieces. Every instrument is bold, aggressive, empowered or haunting. They sear a place into your musical soul that cannot be forgotten.
Morricone used to put it in his music...see the film "THE MISSION" - 1986.
One of my favorite parts is watching the conductor toward the end of Ecstasy of Gold. She is practically dancing because she knows they nailed it.
That jumped out at me, too. It really does add a nice little bit of flavor to the video! :-)
Sarah Hicks from the USA
Your enthusiasm for this performance shines through and I am totally with you.
They did a tribute to Morricone with all his spaghetti westerns. The G,B&U was the pentacle.
"Ecstacy of Gold" is so haunting and one of his best pieces.
This is what we pay our license fee for. Our BBC, as it were. Worth every penny.
Can you believe that the score was not even nominated for an Oscar?
It’s a travesty. No joke.
I've watched this many times, and I consider it one of the best things I've ever seen on UA-cam. So when I saw your introduction, saying how much of a fan you are of the movie and original soundtrack, I got real excited to see your reaction. I knew you were in for a real treat, and it was fun to watch you experience this for the first time.
Awesome buddy. It was no less than EPIC!
Christine Andersen is like a damn Valkyrie to take Tuco to heaven!
He doesn't wanna go, instead shouting one last curse of Blondie as the soloist drowns out the word .
We did go see them in August of 22 just to see this piece in particular. It is just like what you heard.
One of the reasons the concert was so clear, that it was built by the Danish Radio Corporation with recording as its main purpose. It is stunningly beautiful and made out of teak
I absolutely love Tuva Semingson.
DR is our national radio and tv public service channel- that is the reason why the recording is that good. A lot of the symphony orchestra' s concerts are broadcasted in tv and radio and DR have over 60 years experience in broadcasting.
Og vi er stolte af dem
We'r quite proud of our DNSO..... they have a massive portfolio of movie scores and video game scores aswell
And so you should be!
Tuva and Christine absolutely shine. Such incredible compliments to each other.
it is worth while mentioning that the orchestra plays under the Danish National Radio which means that their concert hall is LOADED with both state of the art audio and video recording gear operated by in house techs. They do a splendid job i think
They certainly do Pal!
I must say Christian has demonstrated time and again her excellence and her range. The lady has a true grasp of the sincere mettle of the piece. Again, I must declare her for her aria which is truly awe inspiring. Her talent is beyond compare. She has performed her craft to perfection and needs to be recognized for her performance.
Tuuva, the woman singing the wah-wah was supposed to sing the final part, but she's an alto-soprano, so they got Christina, who's a pure soprano
This is recorded in what is probably one of the acoustically best halls in the world, a 200 million Euro modern concert hall built for the national Danish television network, Danmarks Radio - your BBC equivalent. Add to that one of the best orchestras in the world. The result better be good!
Fantastic buddy. It was EPIC!
Saw this concert couple months ago in Copenhagen. Totally awesome!
The wah-wah lady's earrings are guns.
I don't think I've seen many reactors so thoroughly, sincerely and genuinely enjoy a new piece of music as you do here. It was a real pleasure for me to watch you!
You’re a legend. Thank you Pal 🫡
At last! I've watched many reaction vids for this and you're the first one whose actually knows the film so doesn't make stupid comments about the "hanging man" I bought the soundtrack of a Fistfull of Dollars and For a Few Dollars More when I was about 10 in the seventies and fell in love with the music way before I discovered the films. This makes me fill up every time I hear it, and I'm a 61 year old who has no memory of ever crying. Wonderful.
Thank you buddy. Respect! Awesome reproduction this and to do it live well, that’s amazing. The Elvis reaction I did really stung me big time and brought back a lot of my childhood memories so I know where you’re coming from. Music is the way. No doubt. 🫡
The Danish National Symphony Orchestra also does For A Fistfull of Dollars and For a Few Dollars More to complete the Man With No Name trilogy and in my opinion they are just as good
The name of the channel is DR Koncerthuset. DR is Danmarks Radio, the Danish national broadcasting corporation. This building was custom made for transmitting concerts on Radio and TV.
Great reaction video. And btw, I was to luckiest SOB ever to see this show LIVE earlier this year, when all the talented people got together 4 years after this recording and did it all again!
Now way! Bet that was fantastic. Have a good one Pal 🫡
This is flat out the best reaction to this video I have ever seen. I loved watching people who have never heard an orchestra before react to this, but many would wonder "why is there a guy hanging there?". To see someone who loves the film and score so much be so moved this much is wonderful. Thank you
Thank YOU buddy for watching and for taking the time to comment. Always amazes me how Music unites all no matter where we’re from etc. should be the only religion we all follow lol. Thanks again Pal and all the very best 🫡
@@produceathome there are two videos I go to when I need hope. You may known them "girl gives a coin to a street muscian" and "the weight" by Paying for Change. I think the second is right up your alley
@@Peter-oh3hc I will hunt them down. Thank you very much 🫡
The “Wah-Wah” singer is an operatic mezzo soprano, who should have received equal billing with the lyric soprano. Both very talented singers.
Tuva “WhaWha” and the harmonica are in sync
I've seen many react to this and yours is one of the most touching ones. It was clear that you were moved by the performance and the music - as I am every time I hear it. It makes me very proud that our national (yes, I'm a Dane) symphony orchestra is of such quality that they just pulled something off you didn't think was possible. Cheers and well wishes to you and your channel and you have indeed earned yourself a new subscriber! 🙂
Thank you for your kind words my new friend and yes, it really did touch me and brought up some memories. Excellent experience listening to that. The only other Video I've done so far where the Music hit that spot was my Elvis reaction. If you haven't seen that Pal, would be well worth a visit for you. That Elvis performance and writing is on another level entirely. All the best buddy...ua-cam.com/video/jMWfzTR3an8/v-deo.html
@@produceathome Yeah, as soon as I have some spare time, I'm gonna watch a load of your videoes. You're such a pleasant reactor. Will give the Elvis ones a first look soon! 🙂
Hope you're having some great holiday days and New Years was splendid as well! 🙂
As always when watching a reaction to this performance I highly recommend to get the BlueRay of this concert. It's titled 'The Morricone Duel' and among many pieces from Ennio Morricone has also the themes from 'The Godfather', 'Taxi Driver' or Sonny Bono's 'Bang bang (my baby shot me down)' from 'Kill Bill' on it. The whole concert is pure awsomeness.
I will watch that definitely my friend. Thank you for watching and for the info 🤘
So glad you liked it, very similar to my own first hearing reaction. I played it for my wife and she also loved it. Some weeks later I saw that the DNSO were presenting another live concert featuring "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" in Copenhagen in August this year. We immediately booked tickets to go. I can assure you it is just as fantastic live as this recording, if not better. If you get the chance to see it live don't hesitate , just go. You will not regret it.
Thank you buddy. I’m definitely going to see them at some point. They’re awesome 🤘
DNSO does things with music that no other orchestra does. Everything is balanced with no one instrument section overriding any of the others or the choir. They did the same thing with Gary Brooker and Procol Harum in 2006 with a Whiter Shade Of Pale. As far as I am concerned, this is the number one symphony orchestra in the world.
Did you notice the pistol earnings the woman doing the whistling had on!!!! Totally in character to the song!!!!! Priceless and a great touch!!!!! So says Austin Tx!!!!!! Cheers mate!!😎🍸
Love the earrings
"Wah-Wah" Tuva Semmingsen. A mezzo-soprano with a glint in her eye and a whistle that'll get a farmer to heel.
@@rickybuhl3176 And the farmers sheep dog as well!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣😎🍸
This was only 1 of the several pieces they did that evening. Music of the Sergio Leone westerns. The whole evening was amazing. Its worth a watch
The Godfather Soundtrack also
one of the best musical pieces i have ever seen
Dave, your reaction was fantastic. Your understanding makes it amazing. ❤
Thank you buddy 🫡
I would love to see you react to more of their music. Most reactors only react to this one, but they have SO many beautiful movie, tv-shows and gaming themes. Their YT-channel is an absolute treasure trove. Also, they announce new concerts regularly, so it is possible to come to Denmark and watch them live. It'll be worth the trip :)
Thanks for the info. There’s a reason why people only react to one and that’s because of the copyright claim you get unfortunately. I have head a few of their others. All beautiful 🫡
@@produceathome Oh! I didn't know that. That's sad.
That oboe player is so fantastically good! Love the woodwinds!
I almost never comment on youtube videos, but I can't ignore how you enjoyed this masterpiece, well done. Thanks for a GREAT reaction
Thank you buddy. Glad you enjoyed it
I was floored listening to the Danish Symphony, I thought no way can they reproduce the film score....Maestro Ennio would be proud of this !
Ennio Morricone was an absolute movie music god
Ennio Morricone un mito .Il buono il brutto il cattivo il più bel film western in assoluto.🔝💯💢💯👍
The name of the channel is DR Koncerthuset. DR is Danmarks Radio, the Danish national broadcasting corporation. This building is custom made for transmitting concert in radio and TV.
There was also a great Netflix documentary called Sad Hill about modern movie fans finding the shooting location of the last scene in The Good The Bad and the Ugly and putting on a public screening of it there.
That’s awesome. Would have been epic to have been there
The Danish national symphony orchestra is the pinnacle of music, and it will be so for the foreseeable future :)
I am so chuffed with your reaction. Have loved this for so long. They done Morricone proud.
Thank you buddy and yea, I agree. A good rendition. No doubt
I love your enthusiasm. You were obviously moved by the performance, as am I every time I watch/hear it. And I enjoyed your analysis. When I want to hear it without interruptions, I watch this on the orchestra's youtube channel
Thank you buddy. Very much appreciated and thank you for your understanding 🫡
A genuine honest reaction to a beautifully played piece of music.
They did it the way the original composer had written the score and how he had done it for the film.
The Danes have the Rhodium standard of symphony orchestras...
I swear I’ve never tired of this masterpiece.
Really beautiful orchestration. You are absolutely right! It hits me too and every time I´m listening.
Hi here from Denmark 🇩🇰 you should hear it in our concert hall 🥰 it’s so powerful. Thanks for sharing
Jeg fik aldrig set de koncerter, men jeg så deres Agents Are Forever. Episk!
@@lewalskidk ja helt enig 👍🏻 det er så stærkt at høre det Live
You should check out the Danish National Symphony Orchestra playing Once Upon A Time In The West. Simply wonderful.
Saw the movie so many times. It is a masterpiece
great reaction to see and hear from someone that has seen the movie and understand how much the music played in telling the story!!
you need to check out danish national symphony orchestra Fistful of dollars as well For a Few Dollars More..its fantastic
That is one of my favorite movies the good the bed and the ugly.😊😊😊❤
This channel mate as made me to start putting my headphones on again
Music is the way my friend 🫡
No matter how often i watch/hear this, i get the goosebumps
Wow talk about goose bumps!
One of them even had revolvers as earrings 😃
This film was set in the American civil war and even now some southerners
derisively call people from the north Yankees. I have a connection to that war in that one of my relatives fought for the North was captured twice, escaped once, shot in the neck, let go the other time. My family has about 25 letters he wrote home during the war. He survived the war and became mayor of Auburn NY after his military service.
Produce at home: great understated (in typical British fashion) reaction.
I think one guy got a note wrong so they strung him up, everything else...perfect, exquisite, I've listened to many other recordings, and I think this is definitely the very best, my favorite. The DNSO is simply the best, best arrangement, best chorus, best conductor, best sound (quality), (love the French Horns), best conductor, the strings were getting it done, also, you know the conductor was quite pleasing also.
Haha agreed mate. Don’t forget, we have the London Philharmonic Orchestra so yea a bit understated lol 🫡
i first heard this thru a reaction video maybe a year ago and like u i was blown away and ever since ive watched lots but i can say i loved ur style and instantly subbed to ur channel, i also want to watch them live aswell, cheers
Thank you buddy very much. Merry Christmas Pal 🫡
This movie came out when I was a year old. Grew up whistling it. This performance is incredible.
Yes pls, Once upon a time in the West by same orchestra
Most people don't realize what they have just seen.
A Japanese conductor
leading the Danish National Symphony
italian (roman) composer: Ennio Morricone R.I.P.
in playing music from an Italian movie
filmed in Spain
financed by Germans
and starring three Americans.
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (Italian: Il buono, il brutto, il cattivo, literally "The good, the ugly, the bad") is a 1966 Italian epic spaghetti Western film directed by Sergio Leone and starring Clint Eastwood as "the Good", Lee Van Cleef as "the Bad", and Eli Wallach as "the Ugly"
Excuse me... but the conductor Sarah Hicks isn´t Japanese but American, and so was her father, just her mother was Japanese.
@@michaelgrabner8977 I was wrong, i'm sorry
I love this song!! This Orchestra has so many go songs reveld!!
I've been a fan of the movie, but this took me to a whole other level, this was absolutely awesome, masterful.
What a beautiful woman is Christine Nonbo Andersen! What a face, what a mouth, what a voice!..
It is not all girls that are willing / able to un-amplified take on a whole symphonic orchestra.
There is a possibility she are a shield maiden in disguise.
I have seen A LOT of reactions to this masterpiece performed by the Danish National Symphony Orchestra and yours is simply the best of all. Period. Not only do you show that you are passionate about the film and the original soundtrack by Ennio Morricone, but it also shows in the tone of your words and in your eyes, that you absolutely enjoy this interpretation. (Maybe even beyond what you expected at first). I hope you continue to enjoy the movie and the rest of the DNSO's performances for a long time. PS: Of course YOU CAN interrupt the music in your reactions! We are here to see your comments and opinions! Whoever wants to listen to the full song, without interruptions, has the official video available to watch whenever they want. Greetings from a new subscriber from Spain! 👌
Greetings and thank you for taking the time to comment. I really do appreciate that and you're right, this exceeded my expectations by a very long way. Amazing performance and one that is very hard to top.
The building was designed to be a good live hall, as well as a good place to record music, so thats why the sound is so good. I have seen a couple of concerts live in that hall, and the sound is always really really good.
and it is so no matter where you sit
This for sure is the best recreation of this classic theme. Nothing else compares. The blond lady singing was apparently her debut performance in this video.
Christine Nonbo Andersen has been singing for DR Symphony Orchestra since she was twelve, starting out in the child choir and worked her way up to be the lead soprano. Not sure what you mean by debut performance?
@@abaddon1371 guess i got the wrong info thanks on clearing that up
@@WorldT Your welcome and no problem. It is kinda hard to find info on her in english, so I don't blame if people gets stuff wrong :) There's a bit of trivia on her, that she is the first ever to not only get through it so quickly as she did, but she also did it flawless! She have had a minor hiatus from the orchestra in her youth, to take classes in the royal danish music conservatorium. Otherwise, this orchestra is her second home.
@@abaddon1371 thats probably what i misread. she was first to do it perfectly
@@abaddon1371 It's her debut as a soloist, you can read that on their website. It's the first time she has been soloist like this, but she has performed with them long before that.
That video made me very, very happy. It's such a pleasure to see and hear other people share the joy of hearing this masterful rendition.
Have a happy 2023!
I’m glad you enjoyed it and happy new year to you too. Thank you for stopping by.
I agree completely with everything you said both about the movie and the music. Listen to the Danish National Symphony do the other two films. Those recordings are, believe it or not, just as good as this.
Fantastic! Thanks for popping by and for the suggestions 🤘
Whenever I hear this music played I am moved to tears, their authenticity to the original score is amazing and it just touches my soul and evokes a emotional response. I have watched this movie so many times that I basically know each and every line of dialogue. This Orchestra nailed it in my opinion.
The Good the Bad is still a great film but my favourite of the spaghetti westerns is still Once Upon a Time in the West, it's like an Opera, each character having their own musical entrance. Plus that beginning where they're waiting around at the train stop for like 8 minutes without any dialogue just awesome.
This was part of a concert by DNSO that I believe is called "The Morricone Duel". It is roughly an hour long and features the music from 4 of the Morricone/Leone "Spaghetti Western" collaborations, collectively known as the Dollars Trilogy plus music from Once Upon A Time In The West. DVD is available everywhere. I got mine on Ebay. Watch the whole hour long concert. It is time well spent
Thank you Pal I’ll have a look for that. Would like to see it all 🫡
@@produceathome in the whatever it's worth column, I don't think that the GBU pieces are even the best ones from this concert. watch this at a time when interruptions aren't likely, becomes immersed in it, do your analysis, and please respond back. ide like to know what you think. additionally, I think this concert is WAY more enjoyable of your have seen all of the movies. let me know.

This Orchestra is amazing, I've listened to their performances of Morricone's work many times, I still get goosebumps, for me their best has to be Once upon a time in the west
This is the second time I've seen this performance reacted to, and both times the reactions have been wholly positive. Personally, I would love to see a live performance. This is why large orchestras exist. We'll done!
I was living in Perth, Australia in the fall (there) and this movie was playing at a movie palace with the biggest screen I've ever seen. I went to the matinee 4 days in a row, what a movie!
I found this performance a couple years back, and I still find myself playing 2-3 times a week. Glad you loved it as well! :)
You 4 minutes in was sucha joy to see. Love your passion for this, watched lots of reactions to this because it is a masterpiece, and yours was wonderful. Hugs from a 50+ in Sweden. 🤗
Hi and thank you for your kind words and for taking the time to comment. Bigger hugs from a 50+ in England 🏴
Hi 👋 I just saw them this Saturday at the Fantasymphony concert (music from fantasy movies, television shows, and games), and there was a mike on every instrument and singer.
The Godfather music score on UA-cam was recorded on the same night and it’s hauntingly beautiful. I attended this concert the night after the filming as our usual seats are behind the cameras and equipment and obscure the viewing. The DR Konserthuset is a magnificent venue, just the lighting, mood and entering the building takes your breath away before you even go through the doors to the main concert hall. Copenhagen is very proud of it’s arts.
I saw the orchestra perform their Galaxsymphony with Sci fi movie music, Star Wars, Star Trek Etc,. and is single handed the best concert experience ive ever had. The Concert Hall (Koncert Salen) is build for the best sound every where in the hall. If you think this is good then you will be blown away when your actually there. Come here and watch this ill put money on that you will love it.
That sounds amazing Pal. Will definitely be visiting next year.
goddang this gets me in the feels every single time I listen to it. Its like Hu, Song of Women with Lzzy Hale; its just an emotional force of nature and audio perfection. Thanks for sharing your reaction. RIP Ennio Morricone.
I have seen this performance video many times, but I really enjoyed your reaction. Knowing you were to be proven wrong was part of the enjoyment, and then your gracious acknowledgment was the icing on the cake.
I saw this movie when it was first released (I am 79 years old) and even then the haunting quality of the score stayed with me. Glad you enjoyed one of my favorite videos.
The place it’s recorded in “dr koncerhuset” is a relatively new (2009) state of the art koncert hall. It was massively expensive 164 million GBP but sound is wonderful and it’s gorgeous inside.
The high stakes and your trepidation as you were about to listen had me grinning at the start as much as you were while listening.
The fact it is one of your favorite movies and you appreciation of the original score raised the stakes, but I knew you going to hear something so good you would hardly be able to believe it was possible. Yours was a truly fun reaction to watch, including your appreciative comments and even your pointing out of technical matters I never would have noticed, such as the intentional disruption in the timing of the piano during a transition.
Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment. I appreciate it very much. I think you would enjoy my Elvis breakdown video. My favourite so far from a song writing perspective and I enjoyed taking the song writing apart immensely. Thanks again 🫡
They are wonderful. When I go out ( I am 72 + ) I have to pick from 15 top songs from this to Chris Stapleton when I go out. I am thankful foe hearing this again. Be well
I miss a comment to the Conductor. She is amazing.
I agree with you...she's just amazing...just look at her in the final, swinging with her stick...sweating in her adrenaline emotional involvement !.....BELLISSIMA !!!
not only very well acted but also very well shot.and clint eastwood towering above all!magnificent!!
Love the way you fade your pauses, I wish more reactors would do this
Thank you for noticing that. It’s loads more work but worth it I think. 🫡
This is PhD level music! The level of timing is just outstanding.
This one is really great, and they play the Star Wars suite just as well, and the Star Trek themes too.
Piece of trivia: Morricone produced the score before principle photography was done. So, Sergio Leone would play the score while filming. This resulted in some of the suspenseful long takes which appear in the film. The final gunfight scene is probably the best example of this where Leone focuses a camera on the faces of the three men and then composes the scene with zooms and faster cuts to correspond to the soundtrack such that the climax of the scene matches the climax of the movement. It is the exact OPPOSITE of how this is normally done. The composer usually creates and adapts the score to fit the scene and not the other way around. But one can hardly argue with the result. In many ways the score MAKES the film.
That’s great info buddy thank you. Explains a lot.
They make me so proud to be a dane
Procol Harum doing " Whiter Shade of Pale" with this orchestra is a must.
Done that mate!
@@produceathome Thanks. I'll look for it. You might consider "The Godfather" if you haven't done it.
