Morricone was a genius! This is perhaps the most iconic "spaghetti western" of all time! Clint Eastwood became an international star after this film debuted. This performance is flawless!!
Ennio Morricone should have been at least nominated for the Oscar for this, but the Academy's unfair treatment of his work continued right up until his last nomination and finally, win, for his score for The Hateful 8. He should have won for The Untouchables, but that year was a ridiculously stacked deck.
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, Once Upon a Time in the West, The Thing, Once Upon a Time in America, Cinema Paradiso, The Legend of 1900, The Best Offer: snubbed on so many occasions.
The lady who sang "wah wah", her name is Tuva Semmingson, a classically trained singer in her own right, she sings everything from opera to standards to pop. A diva of the 1st class. If you look closely, for this concert she was wearing little six shooter earrings. PERFECT!!! I watched an interview with the two vocalists.Tuva Semmingsen AKA the Wah Wah Lady, as she has been called by the tube, actually likes being called the Wah Wah Lady. She couldn't believe how this performance took off on the tube. Christine Nonbo Andersen is the solo vocalist in the audience. This was her first performance with the Danish National Orchestra. Both ladies nailed their performances and added a stunning element to this Ennio Morricone masterpiece. Ennio Morricone was a composer of film soundtracks, where he used instruments and objects that are not normally used in an orchestral ensemble. Electric guitars, basses, ocarinas, bongos ... but also whips, gunshots, gusts of wind. Entering Morricone's work is a complete immersion. A moving tribute for fidelity down to the smallest details is what the Spaghetti Western Orchestra did to him. A Japanese conductor conducting a Danish orchestra in a rendition of a song written by an Italian for a film financed by Germans and shot in Spain about the American West
This is the most balanced orchestra you will ever hear. One can pick out each individual instrument section at any time, and none overpower any of the others. Ennio Morricone wrote this masterful piece, but the DNSO brought it to a larger than life performance.
The Production of this film is also a master work, being able to follow each solo musician, at exactly the right time for their part of this performance. Even the man with the two wooden boards
@uayfb1 stop giving credit to God, for things man created. This score was the work of one little Italian man. And thus performance was the result of decades of training and habits. Stop trivalizing it by giving credit to you imaginary friend.
The first time I saw The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly was at the drive-in theater with the old metal speaker that hung on the window of the car. Yet, even with that lousy sound, it was obvious that the score was a masterpiece. It complements the movie brilliantly.
The Danish National Symphony Orchestra is magnificent. There are more videos of them doing iconic movie themes. Check out them playing the Star Wars Theme. It's awesome.
@@cup_cuppy_cuppers5817 Nobody said you should show up in rags. I have been to Copenhagen for 2 of their concerts. A concert is not a formal Event. Danes would be rather irritated if you would show up overdressed like that. Wear something nice but don't make a fuss.
These Danes are great! As a wee lad, I used to cup my hands around my mouth in a special way to create that ocarina-like sound from this special song. Morricone's music has always moved me. "Gabriel's Oboe" was performed at my father's funeral, and "Cinema Paradiso" was a soundtrack during more romantic evenings. Love to hear more Morricone and music from this exuberant Danish Orchestra. Great reaction and show!
Believe me, you are not the only reactor who now wants to see a live orchestra. Love reactions because of new stuff both you and your audience get to experience.👍👍
I got chills watching your reaction. I sang choir in high school but straight up hate listening to opera. A friend of mine asked if I’d ever seen an opera, and admitted she hadn’t either, so I found us a night and it was a date. Live and in person, the power, subtlety, and ability to emote that those singers demonstrated from the stage was mind blowing. When you understand that there is no amplification, it’s even more impressive. There is nothing like an orchestra live, but to have those voices cutting through on top of it. It’s another level.
This out in the open plains. The 'wah wah and cry' is the cry at the moon of the coyotes The 'yoh!yoh ! echo"' is the echo off the hills and canyon walls. The sticks "crack" is thunder crack of prairie lightning storms, which can be very violent. Also the crack of a horse whip. The woman high note singing is the scream of the prairie wind. The beat of the music is the tempo of the horse and rider at a light gallope. The drums are the native American representation. Hanged man...see the movie series.
I gotta agree that as good as the original is, I like this version of the two pieces even more. I like this version so much, every time a reaction pops up for it, you're damn right I'm watching!
POLO, this proves yet again that Music 🎵🎶 has no boundaries. Especially when you mentioned Jay-Z sampling this *(It IMMEDIATELY Caught Your Attention)* Also, all of the songs that 2Pac sampled and so many more rap artists..... Who introduced them to that type of music and when throughout their life???
You can have a five hundred member orchestra for recreating a musical number such as this but, throw in human vocals such as the talents of both these women in this video and it sends the entire musical performance into a higher level that brings tears to the eye and chills to the bone that can shake me to the core of existence.
Another great video! I have the same reaction every time I hear this song. I need to watch the movie. I would rank Ennio Morricone right up with John Williams as far as movie sound tracks go. The first half of this was the movie theme, the second half was The Ecstasy of Gold (where Tuco is running around the graveyard looking for the grave).
Apparently it was "Western Night" or something like that, so there were lots of selections from the wild west. If you look closely you'll see the wah wah gal is wearing a pair of pistol earrings. This is the very best version of music from The Good, the Bad and the Ugly I have ever heard. This recording is amazingly clean and well balanced. It's as though you can hear every instrument.
Ennio Morricone was the creator of this phenomenal Soundtrack done so magnificently by this Orchestra. Wouldn't have to see the movie to grasp the primary tone and structure of the plot or the dramatic and surprising climax in the movie since the music mirrors the western motif so well.

This movie was the third spaghetti western with the 'man with no name ' (Clint Eastwood). "A Fistful of Dollars" and "A Few Dollars More" were also scored by Ennio Morricone.
I was mesmerized by this song back in 73 when I was twelve before I had ever seen the movie, my stepdad had the song done by Hugo Montenegro on an eight track tape, it was a huge pop hit for him in the US and UK in 68 and is the best version IMHO.
