If you look that one safety pin has a slot in the middle for like a flat head screwdriver you may be able to take it out and use it on the regular 1 lb you may want to do a video I'll wait on you

No the tanks are empty upon purchase.
I would recommend that you weigh the new refillable tank before your first fill to ensure that you don't overfill and that you are getting a 1lb fill.

You don't need to. They are built thick and tuff. Nothing like the thin disposable coleman bottles.
You can't over fill them with the purge valve open while filling...
All of you have made valid points. I had only recommended that you weigh the cylinders so that when you do fill them, you know how much fuel is in the container. Over time a purge valve may lose its ability to hold it’s set pressure and prematurely releasing, which you would have a lite cylinder. On the other hand, it may over time not release at all, hence overfilling the cylinder. Why do you think that the propane refill centers place your 20lb tanks on a scale.

Per instructions always wear safety glasses and gloves. After viewing all these reviewers mostly all didn't follow basic safety instructions on product. Having said that we all know real men don't read instructions anyway.
