    THANK YOU! For showing the PROPER approved and DOT legal bottles for refilling. I'm sick of viewers leaving ignorant' disparaging comments towards me on my channel for advocating AGAINST refilling the DISPOSABLE bottles. Nice video. Keep up the good work.

      just subed to both 3rivers and ur silverstreak channel. ayo silver when u post informational videos the close minded haters come out the woodworks. dont get upset by nasty comments the internet is full of trolls. what u say makes 100% sense. dont refill disposable cylinders. sure u can but always remember the risk and that they are called disposable for a reason. ur simply stating the facts and there is no argument that will prove refilling the disposable tanks is advisable. there is a reason the reffilable options are almost 20$ per bottle, there are certain safety standards implemented to make them refillable.

    Genius on the magnet to hold down the flame king handle!! I did have one tank leak on me (more of a liquid spray) out of the air release valve…contacted flame king & they replaced it no questions asked 👍

      Zip tie or bread tie works just as good and no big loss if it falls off. My refill methodology is connect press lever, when you dont hear gas moving, open purge. Repeat until almost full then leave open until you see liquid. Much less stinky way to do it.

    Same deal for me. Been using the Flame King for years, then picked up the Mr. Heater Keg when I saw it today at Walmart (the all black is gorgeous and I’m a sucker for dark colors). Went to fill it using my Amazon adapter - no air hissing at all. It is designed exclusively for use with their $30 branded refill kit. I’m a little upset, not gonna lie…
    Thanks for the video and the sanity check!

    You just came up in my News Feed, I suspect that the algorithm has picked up on my UA-cam propane searches regarding "refillables" anyway please do tell us more details and put a link in your description above. Thanks. preferably not Amazon as they are not usually the cheapest? LOL
    Please share more about this Mr. Heater Fuel Keg is it made in the U.S.A? Flame King is not it's made in Thailand and has also been known to leak around the intake valve..
    Also I like the design of this KEG for the reasons that you have shared.

    I just bought the fuel keg and the adapter from Menards. You have to have the Mr. Heater filler which kinda sucks. I was originally going to get the flame king tanks but the fuel kegs felt a bit nicer.

    So if the "pop-off valve" is slotted and threaded then you have to open the valve to "purge the bottle" for the first time fill to get rid of the inert gases and eventually propane vapor. Thanks for the "close-ups" in your video.. The Fuel Keg appears to be an UPGRADE over the Flame King refillables much better. I don't like the allen wrench Key method,
    I am definitely sold on that FUEL KEG key ring idea...

    I just attached my Allen key to my refill adapter.with a magnet and i put a small hole in the key and use a ceiling fan chain to keep it attached to it .we're I will always have it and the extra one I put in shove bag and my heater cases for backup....

    The Keg valve system in the neck of the keg is intentionally different from the Flame King so the Flame King adapter will not work with the Keg. you have to buy the Keg adapter too. You already have Flame King so there is no reason spend the extra money to have both systems!

    Got to love Menards!! I was there today and picked up the Flameking kit because it was on clearance, and it had the fuel keg right next to it, very interesting strategy to not make them cross compatible. I am a little curious on the quick release valve for filling, it seems like it could easily get bumps and allow the fuel to leak out. Great video

    So I am seeing some questions in the comments perhaps another "Review" will be in order soon. I am suspecting that Coleman may be forced to come up with their own version of 1 lb. refillable bottles soon or this will affect their "bottom-line" !!! I for one want to save our landfills and the environment for my kids!

    Cheers, glad i watched this, im sticking with the flame king tanks, making the refill adapter proprietary is a bad idea, only upgrade i see is the lack of a tool needed but i can cure that with a magnet on my bulk tank to hold the tool.

    • @nadmorph
      @nadmorph 6 місяців тому +2

      Yeah, that proprietary adaptor is a real turnoff. I have my own fancy hose rig I made for filling the disposables and don't want another taking up room in my garage. These companies do everything they can to get the corner on markets.

    You must use their valve system, it has a pin that fits into the relief valve.

      Hey thanks. That's a life size replica of the MN record I caught. There was a company putting those out a while back called Fish Print Shop, but not sure they are still in business.

    I swear my flame king adapter and bottles have that notch and pin thing. I will check later tonight and let you know.

    • @3RiversFishingAdventures
      @3RiversFishingAdventures  7 місяців тому +2

      Yes there's a notch on Flame King which was intended to keep people from using the Coleman disposables. Mine broke off, but this is a different sort of pin.

      The flame king adapter does have a pin (half circle pin) however the Mr. Heater has a slightly different thinner pin design. Not sure of compatibility/vice versa.

    The 2 propane adapters are not interchangeable.
    Remove bottle and press in the fill pin
    or
    Remove bottle and pull out the over pressure pin.

      @@3RiversFishingAdventures it wasn't that. I wasn't turning the valve far enough for air to escape. Everything is going well now.

    Yes to fill this tank, you need the correct fill tube, which only works with there tank

  • @AdrepKeith

    Dude did you open the valve on the 20# tank? I didn't see you do that you were fixated on your magnet. Also it would be nice to get a kitchen scale and weigh the empty tank. Then weigh it again to see if you get the 1# in the refilled tank.
    Also let me mention if you purchased the Rhino tank at a big box store through exchange you will not get 20# in that tank. By law those propane companies that run those exchanges can't transport them totally full. So you are only getting I think it's 18# really.

    My understanding is it's proprietary. Can't mix the F.K. with Fuel Keg. Oh well. Guess I'll have to stick with the Flame King platform since I bought the kit and more cylinders. Kinda sucks though. 😕

      Are you using the Fuel Keg filler valve?

    • @prestonhanson501
      @prestonhanson501 4 місяці тому

      @3RiversFishingAdventures nope. Evidently you have to have it to fill the tank. I'd rather the fuel king then be required to buy their adapter and be limited to only them. Its why I stopped useing apple products

  • @xro5841
    @xro5841 4 місяці тому

    Yes the "Mr Heater Adapter" is a REQUIRMENT. And they do not tell you that till you have bought the Kegs. Pisses me off. And they are not Easy to Find. I had to order one from Home Depot and am waiting on it to arrive. Amazon sells the Keg but NOT the Charger. How stupid is that. And I am sure the Mr Heater Adapter will not work in normal bottles or the Flame king.
    Pissed I am.

  • @prestonhanson501
    @prestonhanson501 4 місяці тому

    The down side is you also got to purchase the mr heater filler adapter or it wont fill worth a crap. Already tried. Had it on for 1 hour only filled it ⅛
