    I've been refilling disposable tanks for years...but I usually limit them to 5-10 refills and they eventually leak as they get closer to that limit. I was shopping for refillable tanks (between Flame King & Fuel Keg) & based on your videos I chose Fuel Keg. Thanks for all your research and info!

      That is where I am, my 4 Coleman tanks are about 9 years old now and have been refilled 2-4 times a year now. The relief valve does not always close back up immediately anymore.

You were absolutely correct, i ordered mine via Amazon a couple weeks ago along with the refilling equipment and it works great! Please keep up the great work and take care, Dave👍

    Thanks for the three videos you made. I have only one Flame King 1lb refillable but had planned to buy more. The Fuel Keg design addresses my issues with the Allen key relief valve. Not only is the key something you can lose, but unlike the flathead notch on full size tanks, the tiny set screw is VERY easy to accidentally strip due to its size, both at the female end where the key or a bit should meet it, and at the threads if over-tightening. And I think most people are quite prone to accidentally overtightening when they have the possibility of leaking gasses in mind. Going to look into more Fuel Kegs in the future.
    Good on a business for reaching out to content creators and communities of all sizes; that's necessary these days.

    I bought the Fuel Kegs and then came across you video randomly and had a similar issue where the plastic and rubber o-ring came off. I didn't realize they came off till I went to put a second tank on the refill stem and realized they came off because it got so cold they stuck to the brass fitting. I popped them back in and was all good but I am glad to hear they are going to look at providing replacements as I will be buying more Fuel Kegs.

    I had been looking at the flame king ones when I saw these announced and then your first video. Been waiting for these at Tractor supply and now that they are available it is a tough sell. $50 for refill kit and 1 fuel keg. For that price I could buy 10 1# bottles or 15 gallons of propane to refill my grill tanks. The kegs are descent quality but honestly I expect a bit more for a $20 cylinder. I have refilled the disposable cylinders (not for transport) being careful to fully inspect the cylinder and valves and only adding 454 grams of propane. Sure, this system seems a bit easier but at this price, it’s hard to justify.

    Thanks for the videos you're creating, very helpful! I experienced the leaking issue when filling my keg for the 2nd time, and thought that maybe it was defective, but after watching this video, I realized that both the plastic sleeve an o ring were no longer attached, and I have haven't been able to locate them. I bought another one yesterday and after filling it up, noticed that the rubber o-ring was still attached to the filler nozzle. Without knowing this can happen quite easily, I consider it a design flaw. As you mentioned in a previous video, R&D is working on a solution for this, but for users that aren't aware of the issue, there will be plenty of calls to support, when the o-ring and sleeve fall out and propane leaks out at an alarming rate when attempting a refill.

      Thanks for the info Mark, yes I agree it's not a good thing that is happening. I'm not sure what the root cause it, but what I've found is that making sure they are fully seated helps a lot. I used dowel and hammer and gently tapped the sleeve and o-ring in fully. I have a feeling they weren't fully seated from the factory.

    Your question, Did putting that on the FK make it pop out? YES. When i change O rings on my FK cans, i thread it down 75% of the way and blip the handle and it pushes the sleeve up. Thats how it can happen. If the bottle wasnt completely seated, and you hit the lever, yes. Sometimes on the FK bottles they stick. Rarely, but it does happen. Oh and i use a bread tie or zip tie to hold the handle down.

    I just purchased the fill kit and 4 tanks. 2 tanks had the plastic sleeve and o ring remain on the fill tube after filling. I installed them firmly back in the keg. We'll see if they stay in place. Another tank has a bad pressure relief. When actuated it does not release pressure. I'll return that tank. The fill system works well and time will tell if it's reliable.

    Thank's for the video's . I'd like to find a retailer in Canada for these products , I'm kinda on the fence about refilling Coleman one pounder's , they are pretty flimsy , the whole point about One pound tanks is the portability , the ease of use and the convenience . I've bought lots of those Coleman tanks but I'd like to start buying refillables that are constructed and intended to be re-filled , made for the consumer who wants to re-use rather than toss .

    Great detailed info put out. I will hold out for the gen 2 that don't loose gaskets. :) Cause if this is to be used in outdoors. A gasket falling off in grass or dirt of this size is going to be lost. Also, I could see me in morning tired half eye open not seeing this stuff missing and trying to hook up. Not needing a allen key wrench is nice also. And I like the fact even full you have to have the inner pin pushed in so not to leak if the valve release on outside is turn. I wonder which tank is thicker? Flame King or Fuel Keg. And which supports more long term refills. So many questions on these both brands. But, hopefully since competing brands out there now. We will see price not go up and hopefully they will push each other to come up with improvements.

      I don't believe that O-Ring is what seals the tank to the device that you are using. I have been using a tank that has been missing that O-Ring and plastic bushing and my tank doesn't leak. If I had to guess its more for taking tank on and off so propane doesn't leak out as bad when you are taking it on and off device.

    Good thing I watched this video before purchasing. I bought the kit and 2 kegs yesterday and filled them up. I weighed before and after and got within 0.5oz of 1lb on both tanks. I made sure both o-rings and plastic retention things were installed, after filling I noticed one set was on the filler and was able to put it back into the keg and seat it with the chuck end of a drill bit. One question I do have though: on the filler where the keg gets secured on there is a little metal stick. What is its purpose? It has a slot in it and I tried to remove it with pression screw driver and I couldn't get it to unscrew without damaging it. Will this fill Flame King bottles also? They are cheaper and currently easier to find.

    Since your in direct communication with Mr.Heater Research and Development... Here goes... *Question : does your Fuel Keg's wobble ? Because mine do !*
    I just bought three of these from Walmart and discovered upon returning home that the bottom ring that acts as the stand, which has all the DOT info stamped into it are less than stellar welding. Meaning they wobble standing up right, one egregiously so and the other two not near as much but still not flat... and some applications involve the base being the stand; like single burner attachments or even Mr.Heaters own Little Buddy 3,800 BTU heater...
    Assembly and Quality Control is garbage and Mr.Heater should be ashamed.
    I asked another channel who did a video on these this same question and as per him he has two...one that wobbled and one that didn't...

    I hope you know that your not suppose to fill propane tanks to full capacity. They shouldnt be filled more than 80% so that they can expand. If your using them right away you should be okay, but filling them to full capacity and storing them is potentially dangerous and the wrong way of doing this. Also you should be marking how many times you've used each canister and discard them after so many uses, I dont have a number in mind for that but im sure you'll find one. You shouldn't be teaching people your method though because your doing it unsafely even though its worked great for you up till now.

    • @3RiversFishingAdventures
      @3RiversFishingAdventures  5 місяців тому +1

      I hope you know you are commenting on something you are ignorant about. These Mr Heater Tanks are DOT approved and designed to be refilled over and over again. It is impossible to "overfill" these tanks. You should do research before telling others what not to do.

    • @FriendsFade
      @FriendsFade 5 місяців тому

      Which is why on their website they say to stop the moment you see mist but you go till its a steady stream even just mist I think it's still overfill. It's also kind of laughable they made a propane tank black this goes against some guidelines when it comes to propane tanks but their great reasoning behind it being black is to distinguish themselves from other companies.

    • @3RiversFishingAdventures
      @3RiversFishingAdventures  5 місяців тому +1

      @@FriendsFade so it's what you "think" is over fill? The tanks are already designed for expansion. You could hold that valve open for hours and it's only going to fill up to a certain level. Also there is not a certain "number of times" you can refill. You just made that up.

    • @SilvaDreams
      @SilvaDreams 3 місяці тому

      @FriendsFade The 20lb and larger tanks are painted white because they are commonly expose to sunlight which will heat them up and cause expansion. These small tanks that is a non-issue since they aren't going to be sitting out in the sun all day soaking up heat. Last time I checked even the Colman tanks aren't white either so you kind of shot your own argument in the foot.
