    Happy to see you getting settled into the new shop. Good to see your typical OCD with the engine building - You've learned so much over the years that people that do run 2JZs would be foolish not to have a reliable long block from RAD. Added bonus at the end to hear those lovely 2JZ sounds

    How do you feel about extra baffles for the lower pan? I have a front sump and was looking at the tomei kit.

    • @HT2JZ
      @HT2JZ 11 місяців тому +3

      I run the tomei one for my rear sump, 3 years on, will check them this winter/ next spring. I also run on e85 so I am bit concerned about them as I've heard stories about e85 and rubber, but then again if you have that much fuel dropping in oilpan you have other issues to worry about.. if I will remember, I'll post the answer here.

    • @RADIndustries
      @RADIndustries  11 місяців тому +1

      I have heard good stuff about that kit for the front sump. I haven’t needed one in the rear sump. But I wouldn’t say anything negative about. Probably would be good in a rear sump as well

    Dan serious question. For a grassroots drift car (2000 GS300) im buying a new shortblock for the car n my power goals are 600hp reliably n want the car to last years of abuse, should i go brand new in box OEM 2jz-gte vvti shortblock for 3500 or spend fhe extra 1700 to get a fully built forged 2JZ-GE shortblock capable of 800hp thats fully machined, balanced blueprinted, drilled n tapped for oil return etc thats got Manley rods w/ upgraded rod bolts, Wiseco 10:1 pistons w/upgraded wrist pins, ACL bearings, ARP main studs?? I figured spending the little extra for a fully forged brand new engine would be the better bet knowing that its capable of more n stronger so itd last longer at 600hp than the OEM GTE shortblock.

    What RTV are you using it wasn’t Toyota’s FIPG. Subaru RTV? Great build video. You need to sell those wipes to clean the head and block surface. Or a link would be good.

    So 11:1 static compression with vvt-i and only tiny 264 cams? Good luck getting any decent spark advance to not run near knock threshold even with alcohol (E85) based fuels. Dynamic compression is gonna be all over the roof with intake advanced using vvti, and most likely excessive cylinder pressures are not letting to run anywhere near optimal cam timing. Hopefully the turbo going on that engine is not EMAP generator... Quality looking build otherwise.

    do you need to apply grease on the stud that goes to block?

    • @RADIndustries
      @RADIndustries  11 місяців тому

      The smallest amount possible. Anything but the smallest touch of grease and it will come out of the threads and get in the head gasket, which you don’t want.

    • @mkivst180
      @mkivst180 11 місяців тому

      @@RADIndustries ah that make sense. i guess on block side of the stud no need grease then. just the nut side of the stut need grease. will that work?

    • @jahbroni8536

      we rev it to 7600-7800 could go higher but no need to. the dyno graph is still climbing at redline its not even flatneing out yet and torque is flat at redline also not dropping.

      @@jahbroni8536 cool that is a good set up and no problems at that revs and hydraulic lifters... have you a hard limiter on it that's what cause problems must of the time

    How much does an engine hold 2jz

    • @ultimasson8902
      @ultimasson8902 11 місяців тому

      I believe that the stock internals can hold up to 1000hp, this is what I have read online so I don't know for certain but a engine block can go up to around 2000 to 2500 hp

    • @feelgoodhorizon4084
      @feelgoodhorizon4084 11 місяців тому +1

      whatever you want, until it breaks.
      stock is safe at 500-600ish and 700 with really good setup, healthy engine, and tuner. after that i believe the crank caps start being a weaklink around 800-900(again depends), at which point people usually just do whole shortblock since you have to make a machine shop trip for main caps anyway. BUT it could also blow up at 300hp. depends alot on how its done, the tune, and your engine, no engine is the same, close but never same. factory freaks and factory lemons in all cars are real for a reason. Engines assembled on mondays are usually badluck, but you'll never know that info.
