      Toyota is the biggest auto manufacturer in the world. Theres too much money in building Camrys and Corollas to care about supporting their old stuff. Can't even get MR2 stuff from Toyota anymore which is why i got into BMW's instead. Complete horseshit. You cant new OEM parts, which is why people pay 5x the price on Ebay for a used headlight, meanwhile you can buy any part you want for a 100+ year old Mercedes.

    2JZ's are like the fisherman tale. Everytime someone talks about it, it can hold 100hp more with a stock motor. The safe number on these motors used to be 650-700. 750-800 was possible but wouldn't last long. Kids are reading forums and hearing things here and there and suddendly these are 1000whp capable motors stock.

    • @fastboatster
      @fastboatster 3 роки тому +18

      Exactly. On the forums where people actually own cars with this motor, safe limit on stock internals is said to be about 400-500hp. Sure you can do some hoorah dyno runs with 800hp but it wouldn’t hold up for too long like that.

    • @F22C1
      @F22C1 3 роки тому +28

      Some people don't understand it doesn't always have to be about maximum power. Good luck getting 1000 whp to reliability hook on the street once the turbo lag ended.
      Don't get me wrong. I love a proper high horsepower build, but there's a time and place. 400-500 in a Supra sounds like a fun time.

    • @BarryWise57
      @BarryWise57 3 роки тому +15

      A ton of the reliability also comes with the tune. You could have a fully built block with all supporting mods to run 1000 horse reliably and can detonate it at 500 horse if your tune is shit. As time goes on and people learn more about these motors the tuning and engine management for them is also improving, that's why guys are saying you can run them at 750 reliably as opposed to 650 5 years ago

    • @charleslowe522
      @charleslowe522 3 роки тому +5

      A thousand hp for street is pretty cool useless. First when Supra’s are drag racing they have to have sizable shoot of NOS to spool the turbo. Without the nod you have a 12’s 1000hp car. Same thing on the street, a lot of turbo lag. I raced a stocking Supra in my stockish Grand National and I destroyed him off the line. He caught me at the end with a trap speed of 131 and 11.67 trap as opposed to my 115 and 11.70 trap.. Supra’s are still bad ass and everyone knows it, but to hear some guy in his garage built a Supra to run 246 in the Texas Mile, I had to call bullshit. He didn’t say it someone else did, his car was built and tuned by Boost Logic. One other myth, I’ve heard that these 2000hp 2jzed are no longer stock, but rather the billet 2jzed.

    • @D4N63ROU5
      @D4N63ROU5 3 роки тому +8

      @@fastboatster Totally agree with people over-talking the motor but let's not under-talk it either. 400-500hp (even whp) is laughably easy on a properly tuned stock 2jz-gte. People are making 700-800 or more at the wheels for 10s of thousands of miles now, myself included.

    From what i'm aware the 2jz-ge has higher compression pistons but they're still made the same way as the GTE with a high pressure casting method making them as close to forged without being forged (the expansion of the pistons on fully forged would bring excessive oil burning issues during startup and wouldn't be emissions friendly) also distributor ignition systems on ge's are proven reliable up to 800whp

      The non VVTI GE has the best flowing head. At least unless you're going 1.5 JZ build with the head from the 1JZGTE. Also the non VVTI is non interference, he got it mixed up with the GTE non VVTI which is interference due to the compression ratio. Putting in 272 cams turns the non VVTI GE into an interference but it isn't from the factory.

    As expected, a bit misinformed regarding the GE motor.
    1st. All non vvti GE motors are non interference.
    2nd. All 2JZGTE's and 2JZGE's have cast pistons. Non vvti GE pistons are just as strong as GTE pistons and will handle just about the same horsepower even with stock compression if running E85. However GTE pistons will perform a bit better on prolonged pulls because of the added coatings and when in a GTE block, the added oil cooling.
    3rd. The first run of vvti 2JZGE's for the american market had the thicker rods, but good luck trying to find one now.
    4th. If the price is right get GE non vvti. Since you should refresh the motor anyway, you can easily convert to the vvti oil pump, water pump and crank trigger neded to go distributorless without any additional cost over replaceing the non vvti parts, excluding senaors. And you can stay with the stock bottom end parts up 800 whp on e85.
    5th. There is more 😂

      Do oil squirters really make that much of a difference?

    • @boblouis972
      @boblouis972 3 роки тому +9

      LORD OF THE RiMS no and idk why he makes a big deal about them, they are only there for longevity purposes, when building a high horsepower motor they are blocked off because having excess oil on the rotating assembly actually can seep horsepower because it is encountering more resistance, that is why things like windage trays exist they scrape oil off of the crank to make the rotating assembly encounter the least resistance possible, blocking off the oil squirters also raises oil pressure which is good for high rev applications which most high horsepower builds are

    • @zXCrackersXz
      @zXCrackersXz 3 роки тому +1

      @@lordoftherims436 Somewhat, they are good to have for extra oil protection/cooling but its not the end all be all that this video makes them sound like. The stock connecting rods on both GTE's and GE's already have an integrated oil jet at the base of the rod that shoots oil at both the piston and cylinder walls for cooling.
