Hey everyone, thanks for tuning in again! I know I've made less than my usual amount of videos lately. You forgot to mention reason #4: Her ult is worse than Grohk's. Which is kind of amazing in and of itself. :p
She seems interesting conceptually, but I've found her play to be pretty vanilla, even when compared to someone like Viktor who you could argue is as plain as they come. I definitely think with some retouches to her abilities (making her F a little less lacklustre, and give her an ult that actually does something) she could be a fun and viable pick.
in truth grohk's ult can be very effective if well used; i don't know why everyone forgets that it doesn't deal only damage, but heals and speeds up allies. There were few matches where my ult as a grohk let us win the whole point
At first when I played with and against Willo I thought she was OP. As I played with and against her more and more I realized she wasn't. Sure, her right click and her seedlings can be annoying at times, but due to her low primary fire damage and low health she can easily be bursted down before she actually has an effect on the battlefield.

A character is always considered overpowered when first being released because many people don't know how to counter them. I always thought willo was really easy to kill when you just payed attention and watched out for the seedlings. People are figuring it out know though haha.

It helped when they improved the warning indicator for them, and fixed the bugs where the seedlings could teleport.
At start, I played against Willo on PTS : IT WAS HORRIBLE!
The seedlings had no sound clue AT ALL, nor they had any indicator.
After I played against that, I thought Willo was OP.
But now, I think willo is quite balanced.

2nd seedling batch used to go through deployable shields, the deploy indicator used to be similar to seris' ult which can be confusing, the sound que is near inaudible and indistinguishable.
they kinda fixed those things but still rough around the edges.

I exaggerated to 3, but 3 charges of slither would in no way be OP..His slither needs just as much as Willo's flutter.

I'd love to have a tier list video. It's been a long time since the last videos on the best champions for each role were made and there have been many patches since that point. I know that there will be a discrepancy between casual play and competitive play, but with your experience as both a casual player and an esports caster, you could probably give a more representative overview of the situation.

Honestly, I love playing off meta characters too (Buck and Pip being my personal favorites). But, at least for me, willo is so BOOOORIIIING. All she really is is mindless seedling and dead zone spam. Drogoz literally does what she does better in most cases. Her ulti lets her fly? Drogoz and Andro can do that naturally without a fancy ulti, turning her ulti completely useless. To me at least her ultimate is the worst in the game. Drogoz and Androxous, as I said, do that without needing a fancy ult, and can stay in the air for a long time when played correctly. Flutter is nice, but most damage and flanks have that in some way. Pounce, nether step, poppy bomb, thrust, heroic leap, weightless, and even things like slither and combat slide do a better job by their abilities to go through enemy players (Not kidding, try it if you want). Her kit is just easily outdone by most other things and characters. Seedlings? Grumpy bomb with demolition, BK also has more health. Dead zone, any splash with cauterize, and her primary attack is out done by Drogoz and BK, the characters I feel she's supposed to be an alternate of.
You must play a different Willo then, a Willo that focuses on left click + blastflower (legendary), this is because her cooldowns are massive and it is easy to dodge her aoe "spells". The goal here is to be as tanky as posible and have some points in cards to instantly recover ammo (not reload time just insta recover ammo). I like buying Nimble as soon as possible on her but is hard to justify it.
She does not have a penalty aim when jumping, plus the small profile and constant barrage of fast moving explosives that hit harder the more they hit you can make her really annoying. If you want to play safe get 200 extra hp + the insta heal when you use your F and Q. For a 1vs1 if used correctly you get up to 600 Hp and they are probably going to miss some shots, and you can also "mark targets" (you don't need to hit them directly) rush in, close the gap and hit for 650-750 damage per shot.
Buck is good at top tier. He was used in the finals or semifinals
Willo is a niche champ only useful against grouped death ball comps, while others like bomb king and drogoz can do that and more. So I have little hope for her unless they buff her in some way. Her ultimate sucks too, it activates too slow and anyone with good aim can easily shut her down, especially kinessa.

My main is willo and she is pretty strong. I hv destroyed many inaras with willo and yeah 1v1 with willo is a lil bit risky but if you activate flutter at right time and right direction u can get out safely in 1v1 or any other sticky situation. I mostly use flutter and her ult in sticky situation (like 3v1 or 2v1) and easily turn the battle outcome. Btw she is really fun to play 😍😍love willo

Raynday can you tell the developers from paladins to add custom button layouts for console? Because when I play Androxus it's hard to glide and shoot at the same time.

I played back in the 100k tournament, I haven't touched the game a whole lot since then. I came back recently and decided to test myself within ranked and was able to climb within a singular win streak to 5200 until being stopped by cheaters. It doesn't seem like there's a huge ranked player base, nor do I know much about the competitive scene. I think I will play occasionally just for fun, but do you guys think it's even worth putting serious time into this game to get better? I'm within 800 points of rank cap just from basic understanding of the characters.

Sean Alessandro I'll admit it, Makoa was a bit unbalanced. His hook needed the cool down increase that it just got, and I think he's in a good place now. I also think Inara is in a good place, there are plenty of fights I can control much better as her now. That being said, she can still be countered by a decent player.
nolan golightly I think she can control too many fitghs, having CC immunity is way too much with debuff immunity combined, I like that she does have Debuff imunitty, but CC imunity is too mutch (sorry if im repeating my self), her earthen gourd with nothers grace can counter Makoa's hook, Pip's and Torvald's ultimates etc etc. Having immunity to fire and caut is eneugh
Yeah thinking about it a little bit more, I think I agree with you. However I don't think that she should have her CC immunity taken away quite yet because, like with Willo, people might be able to adapt to her after a week or two of fighting against her.
Makoa's ult can be easily countered by Torvald's ult. So funny when I did that

I would disagree with her DeadZone being an "essential" part of her kit. It brings a lot of use to the table, but I usually only use it if there's a Mal' Damba, Ying, or Grover in the mix. Most of the other healers don't tend to give me trouble enough to use Dead Zone at all. I run a card set that focuses around her Seedling bombs, and the power they distribute, and if I ever play Willo I'm almost guaranteed to get a 3-5 kills most of the time, and even Inara gets caught in some of those multi-kill streaks.
The trick is, focus on her seedlings. her left click is good, and does good damage, but those Seedlings and your mobility are what's going to give you the most use, not Deadzone.

from the last updates after her seedling markers were fixed and now everyone is able to dodge them because of it.

I like Willo and I think I will up her mastery to the max for my two damage characters to have a high level mastery, the other being Tyra. But I need to try the weapon legendary card to see what is be better in my play style as Inara and Maeve I do not select the "Must-pick" legendary, for Inara I pick the Treacherous Ground card and Maeve I pick Rogue's Gambit card because I think is the best for me.
This things is much player related than character related, a good player can do great things with any character with the role he/she most play. I remember winning a casual match with Inara buffed legendary and without any healer in my team and had a Tyra on the enemy team. But I think the enemy team was with full damage and flank characters. Someone can show in one day in a tournament with Willo and show her greatness than any other can not show. For me a rule for all games like this is having all character in the "same force", "same attack power" is just all characters being equal and no one is just very strong than another.

The reason she was op was because her seedlings had no indicator.Now that it does have an indicator,it's like a grumpy bomb,large AOE very easy to avoid. Had this not happen she would have been dominating.
Simple, it's hard for her to focus kill. It's not even just Andro, it's hard for Willo to even 1v1 Drago or even Pip. Instead of Deadzone being a shield killer, which doesn't even make sense at all, it should be a poison.
Been playing for a while now, but never know that debuff immunity is including anti-healing such as item cauterize. Maybe its just me, but i think we need more info like this, even though it's kinda trivial. So thanks for the info and the analysis.

I like her, but I do believe that because she has two very good movement abilities, her effectiveness is a little low. her dash is great but it doesn't offer too much, it's a slower dash than some, and it doesn't have much for follow up. her ult is great, but it feels slightly like a worse, more expensive drogoz thrust except for the cc immunity (powerful in today's meta). her seedlings are good for zoning, but players shift their styles in a similar fashion as though they were playing against a bomb king, damba, or even tyra. it's hard to gain much from this skill. dead zone is probably her most unique trait is also in the same situation as seedlings, players just know how to deal with it for the most part. I'm pretty sure her top tier play will have to require more from teammate abilities and synergies rather than her own unique kit and abilities

I'll give you ONE reason why Willo isnt top tier... she should've been a flanker (yes despite the lack of mobility) not damage class and is supposed to be played like a flanker.. and no one tries to play her that way. Sure she has low health, but she's fast and a small target for heroes without hitscan abilities.
I've seen Willo drop dead zone on frontline tank and let the dps deal with it while she herself focuses on the opposition healer/dps.. one well placed seedling bomb is enough to take out most healers/flankers.. in ONE SHOT... and even if some survive, a couple standard attacks will finish them.. Meanwhile theyre distracted enough to not heal/help the opposition tank, who's finished by her team.
So reason she is not top tier is because top tier meta is a very narrow sighted.. people have gotten so comfortable with the usual picks (Makoa/Drogoz/Bomb King/etc) they keep taking them until some serious nerf (or buff to other hero) comes along. Same reason why it took Seris so long to break through into the meta even though she was probably the one of the top tier healers at her release. I mean don't get me wrong, Willo is no Drogoz.. :) but she's better than where she stands in the meta now.

Im a willo main and i think she needs a buff. She has great objective damage potential and great abilities, but her 1v1 potential is horrible, and plus they are nerfing her💔 i think they should add a slow on deadzone or give her a damage boost while she is in her ultimate. You may say that her ultimate is bad but it is great for getting low health targets on places that you would normally not get. Overall i hope that they buff her.
Is ist better to finish one card or to build 4 tier 1 cards?
I find that it is situational. on the one hand, having a card for every section is great, gives you a lot of passives, but on the other hand, sometimes your team is covering some things very well so you can afford to wait. if my team has a lot of wrecker, then maybe I can get away with another tier of morale boost, for instance.

Okay, but why pick her over Drogoz / Bomb King? They're both well established point breakers, have more impactful ultimates, have better mobility, and can do things other than blow up deathballs. Willo seems to be a one-trick pony. Even with her legendaries, they don't really change what she does, just makes her better at it. And as a support main, I've only had one (1) dead zone secure a kill onto someone I could've otherwise saved. It's just not that impactful most of the time time. It's pretty much a grumpy bomb in the way it affects fights. I could be wrong though, I haven't played much (read:any) Willo, and Bird (from Snek) placed her pretty high on his tier list. But anyhow, I think that for her to impact the meta, all the things you mentioned would have to change (maybe not the 1v1) and Drogoz and/or Bomb King would have to get Maeve'd.

I'll openly admit I was wrong about Willo. After a few hits, her little as is outta there and her CC isn't a big deal at all.

ult doesn't have to be that ability that you use once in a while
it could be weak but many times ability, so much potential
and with -45% ult with cards , she will fly all the time,

Willo's the champion you pick when your team's already picked her counters.
Seedlings will be more of a problem for the supports and tanks Willo attacks rather that the flankers and somewhat to a lesser degree, damage champions that will be attacking her. Especially my boy Damba who's slither is nothing compared to shadow travel.
She is also excellent in overtime. At worst, zoning at a key time. From what I've seen, glorious team wiping plays.
On a more serious note, I'm getting tired of the awful teams I've been getting (PS4). I don't know where how I keep having to hold people's hands for every victory. Many times, the other team has 3 or 4 on the point and it is...just me. A healer that is trying to play the obj. It is exhausting. People are playing like it isn't team and objective based.
I was calling for nerfs during the willo preview, but I was really surprised at how ehh she is, she loses most if not all 1v1s and her seedling is really where most of her damage comes from, which also isn't good for the meta right now since there are always 1-2 flanks-damage champs who are flying/hopping around that makes hitting them very difficult, and andro omg. Androxus annihilates willo, I still see willo in most casual games, but with ash coming in, I probably won't be seeing for awhile.

I love all those people on social media begging Hi-Rez to nerf Willo. It's not that hard at all to counter her, currently. Heck, a half decent Androxus is enough to make her pretty much useless. Ah well, maybe one day people will stop whinning. Then again, they are still asking for Skye to be nerfed to this day...
Yeah if Androxus goes after Willo she's done for. Wherever she is Androxus will shoot her down. If she tries to fly it's made even worse by the fact that she has projectiles so direct shots are necessary.

I think Inara's mothers grace shouldnt grant CC immunity, over time damage is one thing, but being immune to CC is way too much

I still think Willo is poorly designed. I'm not saying she's OP at all. I'm not saying she's under powered either. She's just super weirdly designed. In a game where cauterize and wrecker already exist, she seems kind of "out of nowhere". She's really good in round 1 (and maybe round 2), but then beyond that is really just a fragile DPS from then on. By round 3 (or late round 2), cauterize and wrecker 3 would already be online, meaning deadzone (with or without the anti-shield legendary) stop being so useful because items do what her abilities do. Once that happens, dead zone doesn't really do much. After that, her only real uses are seedling and the altitude her ultimate can achieve. That's not OP or UP, that's just kind of poorly designed. She should have been created to fill a need, but what need did she fill in a game where the thing she does is already in the game via items and other champions (like Tyra's Fire Bomb)?
They should give her some air control on her F. I really think thats all she needs. But i agree deadzone is kinda weird. It should do a constant damage and heal herself a bit for eachplayer inside it or so. Altought they shoul to a better mark when a opponent player is standing still a deadzone.
The only thing i still hate about paladins, a way to show whenever your low hp. there are moments i forget to pay attention to my remaining health and then i die a horrific death :c

But for me this isn't the issue but the bug I face is the connectivity, I mean sometimes when a match is loading it disconnects and I can't search for another math for sometime I hate it. There used to be another bug regarding mantle but I guess it has been fixed with last 49 update

i think mainly because of makoa and double tank meta. she is susceptible to hook and not quite good enough to deal with drogoz, one of meta champions. androxus can do everything better than evie

You lost me a little when you said Willo has great base stats. Drogoz has great base stats, Willo has bad stats. Her skills make her.
