Somali pirates do what the Somali government failed to do. They are the nation’s unofficial coastguard fighting against illegal fishing and toxic-waste dumping.
The United Nations estimates that illegal fishing companies from Europe and Asia rob Somali coastlines of over $300 million a year, mostly in the pursuit of yellow tuna.In addition, a 2005 UN Environmental Report highlighted a long history of illegal dumping off the coast of Somalia, most notably from “'Ndrangheta”, an Italian criminal organization. According to the report, it costs European companies $2.50 to dispose of one ton of waste off the horn of Africa, as opposed to $250 a ton to dispose of such material cleanly in Europe

Somalia is not safe, and as a Nigerian I would prefer people be truthful to me as a person and to Nigeria as a country no need to lie to me or sugarcoat things.
No matter how many times you call stone bread, no matter how positive you are that the stone will turn to bread it won't make it happen.
I do not hate Somalia and you have no prove to that effect you are just making unfounded allegations and personal attacks to drive attention away from the fact in issue.
Which is there is nothing to smile about being Somali Now, things may change tomorrow hopefully but as at now there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to be proud of. That's the truth no matter how harsh it may sound it is better I as your brother tells you the truth than for me to decieve you and tell you all is well when it's not, it's better I tell you the truth and we look for ways to make things better.
For starters Somalia isn't a part of the ACFTA right?

keef davis There are national waters and there are open waters. Pirates don‘t care for the difference- neither the politics behind it.

    • @MetallicReg

      en.wikipedia(.)org/wiki/International_waters
This is where most fish will be fished by Somali, too.
Concerning fishing without permits - Somali do it to their own government, too. And when the government does not have the funds, you can't control the national water strip. So start solving your problems instead of blaming others. Otherwise, it is the typical circle of a failed state that gets robbed of the little it has by everyone - especially their own people.
Violence won't solve anything in this case. Economy does not work like that.

I think Trevor should leave The Daily Show and start his own news show. I think he's doing himself a disservice by trying to live up to the expectations that his predecessor set. He's just not as funny or as witty, but he has an excellent mind and perspective that I love to hear. I just think the comedy stuff drags him down a bit. That's just my own opinion, I'm sure a lot of people would disagree with me.

Does Trevor Noah have an accent? I guess I could look him up. Never seen an episode with him so have never heard him speak but it's very odd.

Okay, this is fascinating. This might be an ignorant question, but what is the benefit of holding him captive? Like is it a power thing, or can they get money from it? Why did the pirates spend the time and money keeping him alive after they’d robbed him?

Eliana Fuchs the answer is this pirates are not their to kill but to protect their sea from foreign fishers. And if you are in ship they can’t know if the ship is for fishing or for trade
